I had provided inspiration pictures via email of the look that I wanted. We discussed options, and I agreed on doing one small single tier decorated cake and a large sheet cake, all with white cake and raspberry filling. The price was great for wedding cake. I agreed on the large scored sheet cake with rosettes on each piece, in my wedding colors. I also agreed on adding a few flowers to the decorated cake to match the sheet cake. I specified that I wanted an elegant version of white birch (like the pictures I provided), with some gold foil and leaves on the side. I paid for the order that day and then I emailed another image with examples of our wedding colors, as requested. No confirmation of the email was received. Fast forward, I decided to change the cake to half chocolate to satisfy the chocolate lovers that would be attending. I had been in touch with Heather through email. So I first emailed several weeks in advance requesting the change. I did not receive a response. So I called the bakery 5 days before to request the change. The employee that answered, could not find my order and said that someone would call me back. No one called back that day. So I emailed and then called again 2 days later. Again, the employee could not find my order. I had a dentist appointment near the Fishers location that afternoon, so I decided to stop by that location and talk to the manager. That manager contacted the Indianapolis location, and then Heather finally called me back, explained that they had a small fire recently and that was the reason for the delay in communication, and assured me that my order was there, and everything was fine. She gave me her number to contact and I confirmed with her that I would like to change the sheet cake to half chocolate. On the day of the wedding, my step father and brother in law picked up the cakes for me. I did not end up seeing the cakes until the reception was happening. My bridesmaid mentioned the cake, so I got up to go look at it and was very disappointed. It was not decorated like I wanted. The birch did not look elegant at all, the colors were awful, the purple flowers looked brownish, the entire top was just covered in flowers, there was no gold foil.. it did not look at all like I expected or imagined. I still probably would not have even complained if they didn't also provide me with an entirely chocolate sheet cake. The entire extra large cake to serve all of my guests was all chocolate. I don't even like chocolate cake, so I was pretty upset as the point was for my guests to have a choice. I ended up giving the leftover cake away. Before writing this review, I first text Heather to let her know what happened, and that I was disappointed. She said she would get back to me in a few days when she was back to work. It's been another week and I never heard back about it, nothing was done about it.

They use Valrhona chocolate and other high-quality ingredients to make their confections, and everything that they make is so fresh that they ask you to eat it within two weeks. I love that these chocolates are so good that they have rules! I don't think any kind of chocolate, in any amount, would last two weeks at my house, especially if it came from this chocolate shop, so that's no problem for me. They gave samples of their milk chocolate and dark chocolate, both of which were amazing. The chocolate has a snap when you bite into it, which is what you want. Then, it melts in your mouth. So luscious and delicious. I got a small sampler box of some of their popular chocolates: a milk chocolate caramel, a creamy vanilla bean truffle, a lemon chiffon truffle, a chocolate that had champagne in it (!!) and a crispy chocolate bonbon. Each chocolate was unique and spectacular and delightful. They have lots of chocolates and truffles, but they also sell chocolate bars, chocolate-covered nuts, caramel clusters and so many other chocolate-covered things. Greenfield Chocolates -- also called J. Evelyn Confections -- has received the Indiana Artisan seal of approval, which is kind of a big deal! Most of the chocolate comes from Europe and all the candies are made fresh on site. The candies looked like little works of art. Some of the candies have a short shelf life (a couple days) because they are made of fresh ingredients and preservative free. She told me that their best seller are these giant nut clusters. They come with pecans or cashews and milk chocolate or dark. I picked out a dark chocolate cashew cluster. I ate my candy later in the evening and it tasted simply devine. The chocolate was rich and salty and the caramel creamy with the crunch of the fresh tasting nuts. What a treat. I'll be returning. The clerk told me that they decorate seasonly, and Christmas decor is fabulous.
