I've driven by the Bakery, so many times and wanted to stop, but I was always in a hurry. My sister and I went in and we each got a dessert and because it was four in the afternoon, we got decaffeinated coffee. The refills were free and we sat at the little counter like we were at a diner and enjoyed everything about this iconic little bakery. The decor is a eclectic. We just took our time and looked around and laughed at so many signs and odd little things that were placed over the years. On the way to the ladies room, you will find out that the gentleman that started the restaurant fought in one of the world wars, and you will see his worn out shoes, his uniforms, his letters of accommodation and Learn his story. Now let's get to the desserts. We shared some type of a wonderful lemon pastry and a black forest cake. Best black forest cake I've ever had. Savored every bite. We were able to buy the last of the springle's that they had made from Christmas. FYI, if you don't like black licorice don't buy Springerle's but you can only get them at Christmas because it's a German tradition and they won't work in the summertime because of the humidity. Things that I learned that day. We saw that they had a dinner menu with a huge variety of different bratwurst and assorted sausages that we would like to try sometime. We ended up spending an hour and a half in a beautiful little place that we thought we were just going to stop and grab desserts to go.

You'll notice signage for "Paul's Flower Shop" out front, then you're in the right place. Turn slow off Washington if you can as it is a little steep drive. If you're trying to stock your pantry with local brands, products with clean ingredients, and fresh produce, then make sure to make Flora part of your routine. As we all continue on our sustainability journeys, Flora is also a great resource for learning how to make more plastic-free swaps into your cleaning and bodycare routines. I'm so excited for Indy that shops like this are becoming the norm and being welcomed with open arms. Flora is in a beautiful, historical home turned grocery store and has two parking spots out front along with additional room along their drive. It's easy to see the care in each product sourced and sold by Flora. They had some of my local favorite brands like Amelia's Bread, Tinker Coffee, Blue Mind Roasters, Circle's Ice Cream, Native Bread, and many more. They had a great range of products everything from local produce (some grown by hand by the owner!) to nut butters and eco-friendly household cleaners. I love their vegan and gluten free options that are inclusive to those with dietary restrictions or preferences. Jessee, the owner, was so personable and welcoming. She shared a little about her vision of the space with me and reasoning for opening the store. It was clear she loves the neighborhood and the work that she's doing. Their refill bar is opening soon, and I look forward to checking it out!

Found this gas station/restaurant on Yelp to try for lunch while in the area. Full disclosure: I…read moredidn't realize it was a gas station until I arrived! But I was intrigued, so figured I'd check it out. Now I had no idea what Leo's offered until I went in. Think gas station/convenience store offering locally made food items, freshly prepared bowls/drinks and kolaches. Second guilty admission: never had a kolache. The nice woman behind the counter helped me choose (they were buy one, get one free)! So I chose one egg and cheese, and one spinach and cheese. They were warmed in an oven while I went to grab a coffee and use the restroom, which was very clean and well-stocked. Pro tip: if you want a latte or another specialty coffee, order at the counter. If you want to make your own, go to the coffee bar. It's less expensive, plus they have a variety of sweeteners, Torani syrups, and assorted creamers (including plant-based). The cash register employee let me know when they were ready to go, and my grand total was less than $6. I picked up a few hot sauce packets from the condiment bar and sat down in the dining area to eat. The kolache itself is essentially a small, light sandwich. The bread was soft, with a hint of sweetness. The egg and cheese combo was perfect for my light lunch! I had a bite of the spinach and cheese kolache before I left, which was even more flavorful and cheesy! Can't wait to have it tomorrow morning. The cafe also features freshly prepared smoothies, coffee drinks, salad/potato/pasta bowls as well as soups, with a rotating soup of the day. There's truly something for every taste. I was really pleased with this fun gas station mash up, and will absolutely drop in again when in the area!

I've noticed that this gas station generally has the lowest-cost gas in the area. I like coming here because the gas pump's functions work, and I've not had any issues paying at the pump. Also, the receipt prints out, so there is no need to go inside, which fewer gas pumps are doing these days. Getting gas here is seamless and reliable. This location is very convenient and is easily accessible.

My boyfriend and I came on Mother's day (unintentionally) and we waited about 10-15 minutes to sit at the bar. Getting our orders taken & our food served definitely took a bit of time, but we enjoyed seeing all the cooks in action and getting to smell all the amazing smells!! I got Grandpa's one pan skillet and my boyfriend got the sausage breakfast sandwich on croissant bread. All I gotta say is those chefs definitely knew what they were doing! The flavors were unique and intentional and I enjoyed every bite. The home fries (potatoes) were also so yummy and everything was cooked really well. There's nothing basic about borage and I love that! This place is a gem. They also have a cafe/market area where you can order drinks and pastries. I wish we waited until we got seated to order drinks because the menu was much more extensive than what I saw in the cafe and I would have ordered a different drink had I seen all the other options. The staff here are also very welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed our little brunch and will be back with family next time!
