Highly impressed. I've been waiting to go for half price Wednesday for longer than I'd like to admit. And the day before my birthday was the right time! I've had the pleasure of eating a several pieces of cake from Classic Cakes over the years at weddings, birthdays etc. This year for my husband's birthday I decided I would buy him a cake to celebrate (he looooves sweets!). Since his birthday occurred during social distancing I knew I couldn't just walk into the Classic Cakes store front and sample flavors or look to see what was in the cooler for take-away. I relied on Yelp reviews and the Classic Cakes website to determine flavor, filling and frosting options. I've had several flavors of cake from here before (chocolate, lemon, red velvet) and each was delicious, but the Yelp crowd overwhelmingly raved about the almond pound flavor. Yelpers, you did not let me down. It is my favorite flavor yet! I paired it with the raspberry filling and buttercream icing. So, so delightful! My husband really enjoyed it too. I ordered the cake through email and attached a picture of what I wanted the cake to look like. The response back with price was quick and the cake looked exactly how I wanted it to. I really liked the buttercream and I just thought the cake itself was just ok. It is very heavy. He said it was one of the signature flavors but he couldn't remember. Looking on line it may have been black velvet but im not sure. He liked it much more than I did but he likes heavy chocolate cakes like flourless. I would have preferred a more fluffy texture. But it was beautiful and I finally got the cake I wanted 6 months ago. Small update: We cut the bottom cakes today. They are white cake and very much wedding cake like. A co-worker and I stopped in Classic Cakes one afternoon to inquire about ordering a cake for our office and also to find out more information on their half off Wednesday special. On Wednesday, they post a photo on social media, everything in the case is half off the price marked which in my opinion made the cakes very reasonably priced. The employee who was helping us was very polite and answered all of the questions we had. She even said that if we called on a Wednesday early morning, we could pay for a cake and they would hold it for us to pick up (the half price cakes sometimes sell out by mid-day) She also let us try three different flavors of cake. We sampled Almond pound cake (a white cake), black velvet (a chocolate cake but this wasn't your average chocolate cake), and berry rose'. The berry rose was my favorite and my co-worker liked the almond pound the best. There is plenty of parking out front. I will definitely be keeping my eye on the 50% off case on Wednesday's. read more

Do NOT use this company. Your wedding cake should be designed and made by the person you're going back and forth with (with other help of course on day of). Megan REFUSES to meet in person or have the initial consultation with you. You do the consultation with someone else and then Megan does draw ups. None of which were what we wanted when she finally emailed 3 of them to us. We sent her our corrections and our monogram that we wanted on it and that we used on our photo booth etc and she promised to have it be on the cake. Instead, she gave her team one of the first mock ups SHE drew, that we said no to. And it was our 2 initials of our last names... so instead of K & P for Kristen and Pat they did H & G for Hines and Gannon. Not only is that already so wrong to do but it looked HORRIBLE! We also asked for a different Design on the bottom and not flowers, they were supposed to be ruffles. This is Megan's fault for taking on too much business and not being passionate anymore to the point where she passes things off to her team and is too pretentious to meet with the bride! Any cake designer/baker should be honored to have a meeting with a bride. Megan has a strict rule that she doesn't. It's comical and I wish I would have caught that as a red flag. P.S. the pearled wedding base is from my mom and the real flowers are from my florist so don't think that was from Megan. read more

The store was in an average shopping center and the cakes in the window make it look very nice. the interior seemed clean almost sterile which is a underrated quality in a good place. I asked for one of each of the cupcakes they had available, which were only five The lady working the counter asked me which cupcake I wanted two of because apparently I didn't have a choice to get only five cupcakes. To my surprise since there's no menu posted anywhere the six cupcakes came out to $30. Now I am more than okay with spending a little bit of extra money on some thing when the quality matches the price, so although I was a little surprised, I just went on with my purchase expecting some heavenly cupcakes. I was very much disappointed. The mini cakes themselves were quite small, a little dry and the icing was unbearable. Icing is the best part of any cake IMO so this was a first for me. I took the cupcakes home for my soon to be husband to try and this man with a very incredible sweet tooth literally spit out the snickerdoodle cupcake and had nothing to nice to say about any of them except for the confetti cupcake. I've heard really good things about the shop in the past and I don't know if they've made changes to their recipes or something else but from my experience, I will definitely be finding someone else to make my wedding cake. read more

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. I reached out to Classic cakes on October 9th to have a baby shower cake for November 11th. First you cannot each anyone by phone to make a reservation for your event. They only communicate vie email. I haven't received a response to my email until October 18th. The email said sorry for the delay and asked if I am still interested, again no contact info was provided. I responded to them saying that I was and still didn't receive any response. If this company's responsiveness is like that for initial order, I cannot imagine their response if something goes wrong. Their cakes could be good but when you are planning an important event, you should be able to depend on companies to fulfill their promises. There are so many good cake places in town, I would say definitely take your business elsewhere. read more

Do yourself a favor and book Classic Cakes!! Megan is incredible - our catering company initially said they would provide our cake, but we found out a few months before the wedding that this wasn't the cake. I was already late to the game when we emailed Megan to set up a tasting - despite their crazy busy schedule, they were able to squeeze us in for a tasting, which was INCREDIBLE! They usually let you try 6 cakes, but I was stuck between 2 chocolate options and Megan let us try both! They give you the cake and filling options to try, so you can mix and match. We decided on 3 different flavors with 3 different fillings, and Megan said that would be no problem. When she asked for design ideas, I only had a loose idea of what I wanted - but there were tons of examples in the bakery, and I pointed to a few I liked. I had a topper I wanted to use, and Megan told me exactly what I would need to do to use it, and she was happy to facilitate it for us. Megan made a sketch of what she was envisioning and it looked like exactly what we wanted - and was IDENTICAL to the cake that was delivered on the day. Everything came out absolutely perfect, and the process was SO easy and stress-free for me on the day of. And last but not least - these cakes are DELICIOUS. I got SO many compliments - you always hear about there being leftover cake after the wedding, but we had no leftovers - people wanted to try everything. Megan also provided a cake box with explicit insturctions on how best to freeze our top tier on it, so our cake was boxed and saved perfectly. I already can't wait to have more on our first anniversary. Just make sure you book early - Megan provides an incredible and personalized service, so they do book up quickly! I really enjoy the customer service this bakery has. They seem to truly care about their customers experience while in the bakery and once they get home with their product. The team always has a smile on their faces and are willing to answer any questions you might have about your cake. They also go above and beyond to make sure there is an option for every budget. I love that they have a day every week where you can grab one of their cakes out of the case at a discounted rate. With 4 kids this has been and lifesaver some years when it comes to birthdays and someone changing their mind last minute.
