My daughter's first birthday was last week and I ordered our cake from Classic Cakes. I've had a history of mediocre cakes from this place, but I wanted to give them another chance because a good friend has served some delicious ones from here in the past year. Unfortunately, we had a cake that nobody really wanted to eat this time. Looking at other reviews, I see that some others had non-friendly customer service. Yes, I experienced the same, but I ended up happy anyway because her ideas for my daughters cake were good, and I was very pleased with the appearance of the cake when we got it. The thing is, the beautiful cake just wasn't very good tasting. It was extremely crumbly in an odd way and it didn't taste fresh. I would guess that the cake was not freshly baked for us. It seemed like a frozen or otherwise not new cake was decorated for us. This should not be the case for a relatively small cake that cost more than $50. We only have 1/5 people in this house still eating the cake. Nobody else in this house of sweet tooths wants any. The friend who got the really good cakes here ordered gluten free cakes, so I am assuming hers were specialty cakes made fresh. I can't say enough about this cake's beauty (reason for three stars). But this is likely our last Classic Cake. read more

Classic cakes did my wedding cake a little more than a year ago. While this is obvious, I should let you know, my cake wasn't ordinary. I asked them to recreate my grandparents wedding cake, from the 1940s. Obviously, I had a photograph, but it was very fuzzy, since it was so old; the photo had not been removed from the wedding album since it was put there! 50 years later, I handed CC the photo, and they made it perfectly! I wish I had a picture to share, but it was gorgeous! I didn't see the cake until I got to the reception hall, and had to take a moment to myself and my dad to cherish it! I even showed a photo of the cake to my grandmother when I saw her next, and she loved it! She recognized the cake as hers, but in higher color quality! I later received an email from Classic Cakes saying to call them directly if the order is time sensitive, which it is. We had questions on design, pricing, delivery, etc. A very dismissive person answered. She would not answer any questions, blew us off, and kept telling us to put it in an email. I have ordered a number of cakes in the past year and a half. They were delicious, obviously, or I wouldn't have continued to order them. I ordered a sheet cake at Christmas to slice, put in takeaway containers and drop off to about 20 people. The icing on this particular cake was very thick, and that is coming from someone who loves extra icing. I felt that the icing tasted of shortening and left your mouth feeling waxy. I heard the same thing from many of the people that I had dropped cake off to. I was embarrassed after bragging about their cakes. One person said she was no longer going to order a cake for her parents' anniversary party due to this icing and being worried that might happen to her cake. I sent an email to the manager and felt that I got a brief apology that seemed insincere. Regardless, everyone had already had the cake. I had put in an order for an Easter cake at the time of ordering the Christmas cake and had forgotten about that. They called me this week to see if I still wanted one. I explained the issue again and it was suggested that I come in and taste their buttercream icing so I would know what their icing tastes like. I found that to be an odd statement. I reminded her that I had ordered a number of cakes, with buttercream icing, many times before and that I know what it tastes like. They offered me a 10% discount, after spending over $100 on a cake that had nasty icing. I declined. I am not going to order a cake that is not consistent every time, and I felt like they were being condescending about me coming in to taste their icing. Extremely disappointing. read more

My family has been using Classic Cakes for our special occasions for years and years, but I did not fully appreciate how fantastic of a product they turn out until I took a Classic Cake to a baby shower yesterday. After the cake was distributed, The room full of very loquacious attorneys was rendered completely silent, so in awe of the cake. Kudos! The chocolate cake was moist and delicious, the buttercream icing smooth, and the decorations - ducks and dots - were completely adorable. We ordered our cake from Classic Cakes for our wedding. AMAZING!! Every other tier was vanilla almond, with red velvet as our other flavor. YUUMMMMM. As far as the decoration - beautiful - in fact, I brought in a picture of how I wanted it decorated and poof! - the cake looked exactly like the picture! As far as pricing - ours was approx $3/per slice - it's a little bit cheaper if you go for the classic flavors (white or chocolate cake) - but we loved the vanilla almond and red velvet so much that we splurged for an additional dollar/slice. We did NOT choose classic cakes for our wedding. When compared to other tastings, they were the least moist/quality tasting. They did not have many of the cake flavors they offered available to taste either, even though our tasting was booked weeks in advance. Additionally, they were the most expensive. The other main factor contributing to our decision was how we were greeted/treated during the tasting. It was obvious they were busy and acted as though they had better things to do. As far as exterior designs go, Classic Cakes had great ones! Very impressive. So if that is all you are looking for this is probably the place! We walked in ready to hand them as much money as we needed to for the perfect cake, but we went with better taste and another company who actually wanted the business. Set up my cake tasting for my wedding in Dec 2021, the only close appointment was June that was fine it must be great I thought . So the day comes and I ask the woman doing my Appointment if it's ok that my 2 year oldsits on my lap .the tastings are for 4 people but she's 2 and my sitter called last minute sick and I didn't want to have to wait another 6 months. First time visiting Classic Cakes yesterday. When we walked in, Courtney greeted us and offered us samples of many different varieties of cakes with an assortment of frostings and fillings. After an exhaustive taste-test, we decided to go with the raspberry cake for a family birthday party that evening. I was a little hesitant because most bakeries only offer made-to-order cakes and need 48 hour notice, but Classic Cakes had a wide selection of cakes and cupcakes ready to go. This place has become the go-to bakery for not only me but my entire family. We order all kinds of cakes from them now (birthday, anniversary, mother's day, etc). They are so incredibly tasty and worth the price, which I don't think is unreasonable. I had a horrible experience with another bakery in Noblesville that did my wedding cake. The colors were off, the flavors were wrong, and it even showed up with the wrong monogram. For our Anniversary last year I sent Classic a picture of the cake and they recreated a layer of the cake with the right colors, correct monogram, and it tasted a 1,000 times better! This is an awful place to get cakes! I purchased 12 cupcakes for my son's birthday. The decoration was basic. My daughter could have done better. The frosting had no flavor. This place is truly wonderful. I can't believe what a terrific job they did with the custom baby shower cake I ordered for my friend. It was a dragon wrapped around a baby, and it was the most adorable dragon ever. The flavors were so delicious, everything was perfect. I will definitely buy from them again. Everyone I was in contact with was helpful and friendly. They weren't pushy, snobby or rude in any way. I'm really so happy I stumbled across this bakery. On a side note, if you want to purchase a cake, no matter where you go, always order far in advance because a very good bakery will be booked quickly. Don't use a bakery's website...call. Make an appointment to go taste the flavors and discuss in person what you want and don't leave until the decorator has it right. Order my wedding cake from here. And it was terrible! I only ordered the cake for a cutting--it wasn't served so I can't speak for the taste, but the cake was a sloppy mess! I had ribbons around each tier with bows on the front and they didn't bother to hide the seams, the ribbons were coming apart in the back. They looked NOTHING like the photo I provided. The edging on the ribbon was wiggly and sloppy. I also provided a color swatch, a 2"x2" solid swatch, with the color I wanted. It was a sprinkles cake, so the color would never be exact b/c it's a mix of sprinkles, but it WASN'T EVEN CLOSE! I wanted a nice, average lavender and it was royal blue. Very frustrated b/c you don't see the cake until the last minute before guests are let in the reception. They should be embarrassed about the quality of their work. read more

I've been married four months now and had yet to review Classic Cakes. My emotions are pretty mixed regarding their services. The ordering process was smooth, although the girl helping me could have been nicer, but I get that they have tons of work to do and frankly as long as I got what I ordered I wasn't offended about her people skills. Well, guess what? They didn't get my order right. My cake was approx $650 and I actually made monthly payments from April-Oct 2015 to have it paid off in time for my December wedding. It was like a car payment for me. Well, the outside of the cake was beautiful. I was completely happy with that. It was the inside. The fillings were either wrong and/or absent. When I first inquired about this the owner basically just threw $100 back at me and probably thought that would be the end of me. Unfortunately, the money wasn't the issue and I needed a better explanation. CC says its one of the BEST wedding bakers in the country and that they take care of you. Well, they got my cake wrong. I have one wedding cake and one only. They didn't take enough care to make it right and that doesn't make a baker "one of the best" in the country. Apparently, their chocolate truffle filling is amazing... Well, I wouldn't know because the last time I tasted it was in April at my first appointment. The owner ended her email by basically saying it was just a cake and the marriage is what is more important. All true, but I'm sure most brides get what they paid for. I didn't. read more
