Glazed twist and cream filled long john
    Kate D.

Highly recommend Long's Bakery for all your donuts or pastry needs! This is an old-school bakery, with friendly service. I personally always get a glazed twist and a cream filled long John, but they have a wide selection of items each morning.

I lived in Indianapolis for 6 years, use to hear people talk about Longs but never tried them. We were home for the holiday so I decided to give them a try to see if they could stand up to places we have here in vegas and let me tell you I was blown away! Let me start with customer service. They were warm and friendly and greeted us as we walked in the door with a smile. She asked if we had been to longs before and we told her we had not. She said one moment came back and handed us both a glazed donut and stated everyone gets one on their first visit. She explained the donuts and answered any questions we had about the donuts. The donuts. First i have never tasted a glazed donut like this before it was light and airy and just melts in your mouth. All the other donuts didn't disappint as well. If i could i would have brought back the whole donut shop back to vegas!

The best donuts and maple alligators in the world are here. The staff are so sweet and helpful and efficient. This is a must in the area. The large alligator is as large as a pizza! The line moves quickly, don't forget this is a cash only place!

    Pastry counter of yummy treats.

This review is ONLY for those that are brand new to Indianapolis. If you have been here at least for a year, you already know this amazing bakery. You will have your favorites and have created your habits of when you visit. And you also know there is absolutely no comparison to their tasty treats. Ok, you newbie's; First and foremost Long's is CASH ONLY!!!!! It has always been that way and the demand for their product does not require them to change that policy. For all the young folks out there, if you're heading here, put at least a $20 bill in your wallet or purse. There prices are very reasonable, but you will not be able to control yourself with all the amazing pastries to choose from in the cases. Lordy, it's hard, but you'll find your favorites. But, you will find hard to stop choosing items. Our favorites our the fried apple and cinnamon fritters and the brownies, especially the peanut butter brownies. There are two locations. One located on Southport Rd in downtown Southport. The other is right off 16th Street, near downtown. Enjoy and loosing your belts a notch or two!!

Yum!! Longs bakery has excellent donuts. Arrived around 9:30 on a Saturday morning and happily discovered that they were still going strong with hundreds of donuts left. I got in line and got my half dozen. I tried the yeast donuts, cinnamon frys, and cream filled long johns. The long johns were my favorite but really everything was good! Just an fyi there is not seating onsite.

We're from out of town and saw this bakery featured on the best donuts in IN. Very easy to find and there is a decent size parking lot. The line was short when we showed up and Brandie served us where she gave each of us a glazed yeast donut since it's our first time visiting. Very nice gesture! Prices are extremely affordable and we got 5 donuts. Cash only.

An Indianapolis institution. Here are some thoughts on it... First things first, this place is CASH ONLY! Folks need to know that because while some of us carry cash, many folks nowadays do not. Second, the cream filleds are the unsung heroes here. The maples are my favorite, but the chocolates may be a close second. Third, the eclairs. Come early and buy one if you have never had an eclair before. It will change your life. They're fresh as can be, and you really want to eat them instead of refrigerating them for later. Fourth, you can call ahead for large orders. When I bring these to school, I like to call the day beforehand in the morning or afternoon. I would especially recommend doing this for others over two or three dozen.

I doubt I can say anything that others haven't. Long's donuts are a Hoosier staple, and you understand why the first time your lips touch one of their sweets. I stop in weekly, with my granddaughters, and always receive excellent, friendly service. The apple cinnamon fries are my favorite. But if I'm looking to really satisfy my sweet tooth, the Bravarian Cream and jelly donuts are *chef's kiss*

The donut goat. Other donuts are good, don't get me wrong, but there has to be one. A one ring of flour, sugar and glaze, to rule them all.

There's nothing basic about borage and I love that! This place is a gem. They also have a cafe/market area where you can order drinks and pastries. Whoever you are... thank you. You changed my life. The sweet woman behind the counter heard where I was from and handed me a complimentary glazed yeast donut. Let me tell you... WHEW! It wasn't even fresh out of the oven, and it still melted in my mouth. Light, soft, perfectly glazed... I knew right then I was in trouble. I ended up buying a box with blueberry cake, applesauce cake, cinnamon sugar, Bavarian cream, glazed yeast, and a few others. Everything was incredibly fresh, and at those prices, I had to double-check the menu because I thought I was reading it wrong! When I got back to my parents' house in Louisville, we warmed a few up for just a few seconds. Game over. They somehow tasted even better. My plan was to take some to church tomorrow to share... but judging by how fast they're disappearing, I may be testifying about them instead. Before I left, the woman smiled and said, "Make sure you come back when you're in town." Oh, I'll be back. I may even create reasons to drive through Indianapolis now. Long's Bakery doesn't need fancy displays or trendy flavors. They simply make outstanding donuts with friendly service and prices that make you wonder if they accidentally forgot inflation. 10/10. Yes, these are quite a bit pricer that's for sure. People were buying one of everything in line. I was like wow! Some Items the combinations of flavors didn't appeal to me. I love tiramisu and pecan pie so I got them both. One suggestion I would have is to have utensils and napkins at the table for people to use. The pastries I bought are really temperature sensitive and need to be kept cold. Both had a cream - mousse inside. They wouldn't last long only a day or to the next. I loved the pecan item I ordered. It was great! The tiramisu one I wouldn't order again. The bottom flakey part was so bitter. I love coffee and expresso and tiramisu. But, the whole thing just wasn't what I thought it would taste like. Now I know. :-( Creamy, sweet, smooth, with a kick of coffee all come together to make a great tiramisu. This is what most people love about it. I don't know if they are planning on opening a store or not. The pop ups are doing well it seems. What went from ordering 1 pastry each turned into 8 total.. and we regret nothing. The Tiramisu Danish was exactly as I had hoped for! The bitter taste of espresso paired with the sweet mascarpone cream filling reminded me of the holidays when I would watch my mom make tiramisu for our family. While a lot of people prefer a sweeter espresso, I thought this was perfect and very true to a traditional tiramisu taste The Pear Kouglof reminded me of a fresh yeast donut that's been tossed in sugar This was a very kid-friendly pastry in taste and while I wasn't too blown away by it, it did make me wonder if I would have preferred it with a stronger, more potent, fruit. The Cherry Basque Cheesecake -- this pastry was the house favorite. The texture of this cheesecake was creamy, but somehow still spongey.. cakey, but more like pudding. Mix that with the juiciest sour cherries and the crunch of a biscoff crust.. mind blown was an understatement. We're looking forward to what Beurre Sec has planned for their next pop-up
