I have breakfast before I head out to explore each day, so donuts are more of a treat for me than a meal. In fact, I rarely eat donuts; but I do know flavor and I really enjoyed each of the ones I bought at Jack's. Why you may want to go here: 1. They accept credit cards here so you don't have to stop at a bank machine to have enough cash like at Long's. 2. Although I didn't use it, they have a drive through lane so you don't have to get out of your car. 3. They have a wide variety of donuts. Even within categories, they may have some filled with raspberry jelly, Bavarian creme, or sweet white fluffy filling. 4. They offer some powdered, some flaky, some drizzled or spread with chocolate. 5. The apple fritter I picked up was so good, that I got maybe two bites before my wife finished it off. She normally likes yeast donuts, but she tore into that one and made it disappear like magic! 6. They have indoor seating and offer some beverages to go with your order. 7. They had several folks working behind the counter (one kept restocking the front order counter). Very pleasant and patient with customers. 8. Very reasonably priced. I got all four of my selections for under $5. For anyone who complains about these being too expensive, try making them at home and you will find out that the price is very reasonable. 9. All the stuffed donuts were filled almost end to end. I am so tired of other places that put a glob of filling in one end leaving the other end empty. Not here! 10. I have been going to Jacks since they opened, but quit for awhile when their prices raised to much. I do still go once in awhile and have always been satisfied with their donuts but Tuesday August 20 I stopped in and got a mix of donuts and a dozen donuts holes. Unfortunately I threw them away as they were over cooked and did not taste soft as they should have. I think it will be a long time till I go back no one wants to pay so much for donuts that are over cooked and not soft. read more

A little underwhelmed after all of the hype coming of Jack's coming to Greenwood. Right now it's really hit or miss what selection you're going to have and whether or not they're even open due to demand (as of this review, they're closing around 6pm every day - watch Facebook for updates when they run out of donuts each day), but I can't say this is necessarily worth the wait. I went on a Saturday morning so expected to wait in line. I was lucky to not have a whole lot of people in front of me, but a line quickly formed behind me. Selection was still pretty good, but it would have been great to have some signs of what was available instead of *every* person having to ask "What's this thing here?" and then being disappointed by the answer. Clearly they have a lot of choices and what you see isn't exactly what you get (is that filled with raspberry, strawberry, bavarian creme, peanut butter, or nothing?) so some kind of guide would be helpful. They didn't have any Long Johns (or "chocolate sticks" as they appear to be called around here) and the worker sounded like they aren't making them at this point. (Hopefully this is just a "new location" thing and not permanent.) Here's my biggest gripe: it's pricey. A dozen donuts is $12, and individual donuts are going to cost you more. It does seem to be consistent - a glazed donut is the same price as a "specialty" donut. That's different from the other Jack's locations I've been to. Quality is really good, but not better than other places that don't cost as much. Service was all right - everyone seemed a little confused and overwhelmed, and they were complaining about people calling in sick (and how many times that person had called in) and not having enough people in front of customers, which was a little disappointing. I expected a bit more professionalism to not have that conversation in front of the line. I guess they were too short handed to step away from the line to have the conversation, so I understand to a point. Long's still takes the cake (or the donut, in this case) for me as the best on the south side of Indianapolis. But this is a bit more convenient for me and I think they'll really hit a sweet spot once they're able to stay open longer - I don't know of many places that stay open until 9pm. read more

Checked out Jacks Donuts in Greenwood at 5:30 pm and the variety of donuts were great. Stocked and fresh and consistent with the perfect doughy density and size the best Jacks is known for. Taking a break with my coffee I was appreciating the distraction of having the news on the provided tv monitor. The sound wasn't on nor the closed caption, so I asked the staff if they wouldn't mind turning on the closed caption so I could understand what these talking heads were saying- and no debate for the request ensued. Immediately and enthusiastically they complied and turned it on. Really appreciated that! Caught up on the news, had my donut and coffee break and went away a contented man. Went around 1030 on a Sunday and they still had a ton to choose from which was nice! Many employees so they worked the line quickly. We visited a couple times shortly after they opened and both times the donuts were very done and not very moist or flavorful. Today's visit was the complete opposite and very enjoyable! Glad we gave this location another chance because jacks donuts are delicious and different than the mass produced ones from any grocery! The donuts are very reasonably priced and they have a wide selection of exotic donuts. They had a fruity pebbles one, a strawberry cream cheese one and Oreo one. Mmmmmmm. Very disappointing Sunday morning experience. First, was told that donuts had cream cheese icing and it was most certainly plain white frosting. Second, every donut we had in our two dozen order was obviously at least day old. Not one donut was fresh with icings that had a lot of moisture present and breading that was stale. Lastly the pricing has gotten extreme at $19 a dozen. Especially given the quality of the donuts that we received today. Not sure if this store has changed ownership or management, but they used to be excellent always. Probably going to visit one of the other shops that are close to home next time. It's light and fresh. Comes in donut size or donut holes. Give it a try sometime. Even if you are a yeast donut fan. Jack's offers different blend of coffee and a variety of donuts. Lemon filled, cream cheese frosted, iced, every shape and size and flavor imaginable. They have a lot to offer. Even though it is a little south for me to go, I love the Jack's location in Greenwood, off of 135 just south of Fairview behind McD. The staff is very nice and knowledge on the donut ingredients. Jack's donuts has something to offer just about anyone! We went in today and were almost overwhelmed by all the donut choices. I like that they have unique options-oreo glazed donuts, strawberry cream cheese, blueberry cream cheese, and apple fritters. But they also have the classics-cake donuts, sprinkles, and plain glazed. The donuts are so fresh and soft, absolutely delicious. One downside is they dont have (at least the couple times I have been) filled long johns. They have regular long donuts not filled with anything and with sprinkles, which is equally as good but not quite the same! Would recommend if you are on the Southside. read more

My kiddos loved their chocolate frosting with sprinkles. I'm not a fan of cake donuts normally but theirs was soooo yummy in donut hole form. I judge a donut place by their yeast glazed donuts. It's passable if you are really craving a donut, and it's better than Duncan. I picked a small variety of donuts, but they really didn't blow me away as far as their selection and overall quality. I believe the bottom line is that I prefer Long's at this point. Nary a donut beats Long's apple fritter, especially fresh out of the fryer. It melts in your mouth like butter. Wowee. I am very grateful I don't live any closer to Long's than I do. Jack's didn't appear to offer anything like an apple fritter. I didn't see any danishes as well. Don't take the donuts on the cart! I was disappointed today. I was given donuts off the rolling cart, again! There's a rolling cart with what looks like, odds and ends. Are these older donuts? I really wanted to enjoy Jack's donuts but I was deeply disappointed. First, the selection. I came hankering for my favorite donut, the long John with custard filling and chocolate icing. There were like four differently topped long John donuts yet none of them contained golden custard goodness. And so I asked what donuts had custard filling and sadly it was one type of donut, a small chocolate donut. With all the various topped donuts in large quantities I was expecting some variety in type, like custard, creme, or jelly filled, maybe even some type of cinnamon something. Great donut, but the supply is poorly managed! 2 of the 3 times I have been there, always 8:30 on a Saturday, they have run out of donuts, unacceptable! This is not an employee problem, this is a management/ownership problem. This is the Jacks on route 135. Doughnuts are very fresh and so is the coffee. They also serve gourmet type coffee, with various pumps, as well expresso. They have plenty of seating. It's disappointing however they do not have the cronuts at this particular Jacks. I know the Jacks downtown by the Circle does and the Jacks in Plainfield does. read more

If you live in Greenwood, I would say make the drive and go to Longs or Boydens. These donuts are bland and definitely not as good. Love this place! The only down side is that you have to come in early for your pick! The filled donuts and apple fritters are usually the first ones gone for good reason! The staff are very friendly and personable in my experiences there and always give me a good recommendation if I want to try something new. The only thing lacking is their brewed coffee to me. We got an assorted dozen for our family breakfast. There was a great selection and everyone loved the donuts. Some of the fan favorites were the Oreo donut, the maple bacon, and the chocolate custard. The donuts tasted fresh and the box it came in was so pretty! I am taking a photography 4 week class that meets here. The space is very conducive for groups to meet so if you are looking for an area for a group to meet then I suggest contacting this place! They have a coffee bar where you pick up your coffee, as well as fountain soda and of course donuts. Our group met on the comfy leather chairs in the back. First thing to teach employees is how to handle food! Multiple employees were touching face and hair and then touching food. One guy was scratching his arm pit and then grabbed a tray of donuts! Disgusting! If you still want a donut after that there are no signs to tell you what's available. No one knows how to work the coffee maker and the donuts themselves are overworked and off putting. Coming from an area that has has a donut shop on every major block to Greenwood I was supremely happy to find a real donut shop. The filled donuts are extremely fresh and do not have the artificial taste that many filled donuts have. I would recommend the blueberry glazed as well as the blueberry filled. read more
