I have been here so many times but never did a review. Not sure why but I love their cupcakes! My favorite are the PB, the wedding cake one and the strawberry one! Today I opted to get the surprise box and I'm very happy I did something fun and different! Thank you to the young lady she was very sweet. I also purchased this beautiful rose pink sugar cookie that looked like an actual rose but I didn't get a picture because I was buying it for my daughter to brighten up her Friday.
Was in the mood for macaroons and my best fiend wanted a cupcake...she actually wanted both lol but we stopped here first. I'd never been in before but always pass it and I'm not too big on sweets like that. It's a very cute rustic girly shop with a display of fresh cupcakes. I absolutely LOVED the names. They had a "Pretty in Pink" one and I am a die hard Molly Ringwald fan =). I ordered the strawberry cupcake and my best friend ordered two different ones. This was by far the best cupcake I'd ever had! I will be back and the cashier was nice and friendly.
The ambiance and location is beautiful. I ordered off an app called "Too good to go" so they pick random things to put in box and you pay a discounted price. I love this because it is a way to support other local business and find new places to go to. The presentation of the 4pk cupcakes was amazing and thy looked yummy. My daughter started one first and loved it u til she found an edible ball of some sort lol said it tasted like coffee, I'm not sure. I tried the white iced one and the icing and cupcake were good, different but tasted pretty good. My son had the all chocolate one and said it was coo(he's 17 ) For my family personally this isn't really our preference but I know many people absolutely love it and that's amazing. We had no clue what each cupcake was so maybe future when ordered though the app they could write on the box what each is considering they are boxed when we pickup so we don't know. And that would be helpful.
I ordered several dozens of cupcakes for a group event here. Their website is simple and easy to navigate & place an order. I loved the variety that they offer. Besides regular ones, they have vegan & gluten free options. At time of writing this they had a bunch of cute Easter versions and I enjoyed it. My favorite was strawberry and birthday. They were ready on time and they loved the cupcakes.
I have to preface by saying I'm not a huge cake person, but I do like a little cake now and then. I bought some cupcakes for my bosses birthday. The GF one was reportedly dry and crumbly, although the icing for all the cupcakes went over well so there is that! I got the strawberry cupcake and initially it tasted really good (it's my fave), but then it had a weird, bitter aftertaste. The icing was really, really sweet for cream cheese icing. Almost too much sugar so I couldn't taste anything else. All in all they weren't amazing, but they were ok for work birthday cupcakes. I give them a 5/10.
The lady at the front was so nice! My go to cupcake place when I visit Indy! My favorite was the vanilla birthday cake cupcake. These cupcakes are huge and affordable! The shop is colorful and cute!
After doing a lot of walking downtown visiting memorials plus climbing lots of steps, I needed a second wind. What better way than a good old fashioned sugar rush, yes? Where can you get a lot of sugar to digest? The Flying Cupcake, that's where. They have GIANT cupcakes with a lot of icing to boot. I ordered the Jumbo GIANT Happy Birthday to Me - Vanilla cupcake. Everybody says I'm boring because I order vanilla over chocolate too much. Hey I like vanilla, okay? The cupcake was outstanding! Oh yes, it was fresh too; the cake was nice and moist. Definitely hit the spot and got me back on my feet with a second wind. I also decided to buy a couple of things for my granddaughters upcoming birthday next month. Even though she will now be a teenager officially this year, she's not too old for a Sally Sprinkles squishy. And I couldn't resist the pink T-shirt that says, "Someone Bring Me a Flying Cupcake." She likes t-shirts that say stuff on them. By the way, regarding parking on Mass Ave. I learned something today. If you text yourself the receipt after paying, the meter will not only text you with a receipt, but then also text you again when your time is about to expire. Awesome!
I ordered a lunchbox cake (mini cake that feeds about 2 people) for my partners birthday since we were going to be in town. Ordering ahead was super easy online and I got to select the location and time for pick up. I've never been here before so I was hoping the photos and positive reviews were accurate. I ended up arriving about an hour before my selected time on the day of pickup but the cake was ready and waiting. It was exactly as pictured on their website! The birthday funfetti cake even came with a candle. The cake was good! The frosting is a bit on the sweet side but overall we both enjoyed it. The cake was moist and the lunchbox cake was the perfect size. I would definitely order again if in the area!
These cupcakes were the perfect compliment to a hand written card for two of my friend's birthdays. The presentation of the actual cupcake and the packaging always makes the experience feel special. The customer service has always been friendly, polite and efficient. I wish the cupcakes were more rich or moist. It's like the cake part is missing something but I can't quite put my finger on it exactly. It's still a cupcake so it's hard to go wrong! Definitely a must- try more than a must- have.
Got a vegan vanilla birthday cake cupcake. It was extremely delicious - moist, not too sweet, and well portioned. The staff was kind & the vibe is eclectic. Definitely worth a visit.

I absolutely love these cupcakes. I usually order them to be delivered from DoorDash but today I was fortunate enough to be on Massachusetts and go in the bakery. The young lady that helped me was wonderful. The colors in the shop are pastel with a dreamy vibe. I got 4 cupcakes to go to celebrate a birthday tomorrow. 2 cupcakes might have giant eaten today. They are so moist and flavorful. Can't go wrong .. if you're in the mood for sweet treat. read more

Horrendous!!! I got a vanilla 2 layer cake with buttercream frosting. The cake was gorgeous ands was made on time, but it was $125 and tastes like actual play doh. I so wish I could have my money back. My friends party was ruined bc of this cake. I don't know how this place is so popular, they really need to change their recipe!! Do not go here if you want an edible cake!!! read more

Very good cupcakes. I got the "Mike Pence" cupcake. It was dry aesthetic and tasted good. I thought the rainbow was made of candy, but it's a plastic ring, and I'm not a fan of that. Friendly servers in the food truck & it was a quick line despite having so many people. read more

Really, truly just so thankful for a locally-owned, specialty dessert establishment in the Mile Square. Flying Cupcake never fails to deliver no matter what you're in the mood for. It's Indy's original cupcake shop and definitely an institution and a staple for Hoosiers and tourists alike. It's my go-to for a little birthday treat for a coworker... or a big birthday treat. I recently ordered a pull-apart cupcake cake to look like Dolly Parton with about 24 hours notice. I thought for sure they would laugh in my face when I walked in to ask, but nope! They were totally friendly and glad to help. And it turned out absolutely perfect and delicious! I want to add that I've even won a pair of Broadway tickets from Flying Cupcake just for buying a Grinch treat. So it's definitely worth a follow of their Instagram. Their Etsy page allows you to send packaged cupcakes as a gift in the mail. Plus, rumor has it edible cookie dough is coming soon... I literally cannot wait. read more
i am not a Huge cupcake fan, but i am a fan of the flying cupcake!! i've had friends get me them a few times (hence why the picture says anna lol) and it is always a great surprise. the cake part is moist and spongey, not dry like other cupcakes seem to be. the only reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is they use a Ton of icing and i personally don't love that much, but the taste of their icing is amazing!! especially their peanut butter icing read more
This place is any sweet tooth's dream-come-true! Seriously, I cannot wait for someone close to me to have a birthday or occasion worth celebrating because it means I can come here! Heck, I should start coming here to celebrate it being a Monday or that temps didn't make it over 90 degrees today! My wallet and waistline would disagree. I got three cupcakes today - the hungry lumberjack, gimme s'more, and snickerdoodle. JUST LISTEN to how each of these are described and try to tell me your mouth isn't watering... Hungry Lumberjack: French toast cupcake [should I just stop here?], maple-syrup infused cream cheese [okay, I SHOULD stop here], syrup drizzle, and BACON! This one's got my name all over it. Gimme S'More: Chocolate cake FILLED AND TOPPED with marshmallows, graham cracker, and chocolate. Snickerdoodle: Cinnamon cupcake with COOKIE BUTTER buttercream! Okay, I'll STOP! Unless you submit a custom order you're left picking from what's in their display case but if you can't find something you don't like you've got bigger problems. They ALWAYS have good options. They even have several vegan options - like vanilla chai! That sounds fantastic. Go now, thank me later! read more
I normally go to the location on 86th Street but I work near Mass Ave and was picking up some treats for the office since it was a co-workers birthday. I went in on a Monday morning as they had just shortly opened. I was disappointed by the general selection they had at the time, especially only having 2 flavors available that were gluten free. I even visited their Facebook page before I headed out to see if they posted the current flavors in stock but I didn't see a posting at that time. Other than that, customer service was friendly and quick. The cupcakes definitely did not disappoint! read more

The flying cupcake is a cute little shop tucked into a row of bars and restaurants on mass ave. We decided to walk here to kill some time on a Sunday and we helped immediately. I needed a few minutes to decide from their spread of cupcake, but decided the best choice was the lemon. It was so moist and sweet! We decided to sit on the bar and "people watch" while we ate. I noticed a book of cakes they can make on the table and started to flip through it. I had no idea the made wedding cakes, but they were gorgeous. Seriously if you need to ever kill time on mass ave or get cupcakes for an event, the flying cupcake is the way to go! read more

This will be my new IT spot for red velvet cupcakes! They're really good with the chocolate chips! They add a twist to traditional red velvet and call it the Elvis red Velvet with chocolate. I really enjoyed it as well as the hubs ! Will def come here for my treats read more
Ordered in to satisfy my sweet cravings. I ordered the red velvet, carrot cake and chocolate salted caramel cake. The red velvet was my favorite. It is what you'd expect with a nicely made red velvet cake. No surprises there. The carrot cake was good as well, but ai would have loved it to be fluffier. The chocolate cake had a nice fluffy texture but I did not enjoy the taste as much. The mix of bitter and salty did not work for me. Would have loved a touch more caramel or sweetness. Would love to try some of the other flavors they have. read more

If you're going for size, this is the place to go! Good cupcakes (liked 2 of 3 )-- would buy this over "store bought " any day. Great location, you can get ice cream and macarons on the same strip! read more
Blink, and you might miss this little storefront. Just look for pale green paint. The staff was not very friendly at all. No greeting, smile, or acknowledgment of the order in which customers are in line. I expect more from a cupcake shop, any shop for that matter. Especially a tiny one that's recently opened and should be trying to attract business. The two staffers weren't very efficient in providing service either. Tried the red velvet elvis (not sure why it's called this; wasn't Elvis' thing peanut butter and bananas?), peanut butter chocolate, boston cream, and lime coconut varieties. Of the 4, I'd recommend the boston cream - rich, ganache-like fudge frosting and cream filling - but each of the cupcakes were underbaked and crumbled in your hand. read more

The Flying Cupcake as someone who l frequents Mass. Ave, I had walked by this cute little bakery on several occasions, trying to avoid my sweet tooth. The temptation finally gave in, and I don't think I'll ever be able to walk by again. There are a variety of cupcake flavors, I was between chocolate Carmel sea salt, and a maple lumberjack cupcake. Ultimately I chose the Maple Lumberjack. the person working the counter was extremely helpful, and even explained which cupcakes had been baked that morning. The environment was clean, calm, not too loud, and sweet. It would be a great place to take a 1st date to talk and get to know one another, or to take anyone. Lol. Who cant recent a cupcake. Parking on Mass Ave is a bit challenging on the weekends, I've learned to stop by my favorite spots through the week and I'm almost always guaranteed street parking! read more
Though the pickings are a little slim, The Flying Cupcake is definitely my favorite of the dessert only establishments in the downtown area! Super cutesy inside with candy, gum, little trinkets, and fun socks for purchase as well as their amazing cupcakes. They have the classics and fun experiments, as well as a vegan option or two for the non-dairy and or veg eaters among us. I got the vegan lemon and it was delicious, great lemon flavor with a light icing. Recently they must have changed their recipe because the cupcakes have less frosting on them, but honestly I like this more. Before it was like 50\50 cupcake to frosting and the frosting was a little overwhelming. Now it's maybe 65/35 cupcake to frosting and you can taste the cupcakes more (this is not to say that there isn't still a ton of frosting on them). Flavors change daily so don't be scared to come every few days and see what's new! read more
