I have been using this storage facility for over 20 years. It's clean, and secure. The only problem here is they have become very greedy. One day a few months back my rent went from $360.00 to $460 over night. I wasn't notified before hand. I was set up on automatic payments. Suddenly it's $460. This is ridiculous. I understand that OC is expensive so I tolerated the $360. When the fee went to $460 without any warning it pissed me off. I gave them notice that I was vacating my spot. They said well we will reduce the fee back to $360. For me this made the situation even worse. Basically if I didn't move out or complain they are ok with ripping me off. Then when I went in to close my account they really got greedy. I owed for 45 days. My debit card number changed. So I missed a payment. They wanted late fees, some bullshit foreclosure fee, and six weeks of rent. . $970 for 45 days to move out. WTF. Also they would not credit me for the months that I over paid a hundred dollars a month. Beware of their greediness. These people have dollar signs for eyeballs. Very conveniently located as well as clean facility and units.

Had to find RV storage as my old place remodeled their lot. Got two months free and then the rate hikes started. Tolerated it for a bit until my catalytic converter was stolen. Filed a police report, no video available from storage facility and after multiple attempts for some sort of compensation from this "secure" storage facility, I received a $100 credit on my $535 monthly uncovered spot. That's right, $535 per month, uncovered and $2,000.00 to replace a stolen catalytic converter. Needless to say, my RV and I are no longer getting ripped off from this place and have moved to another facility. read more

What a joke! Called corporate office to check a out rv storage. Was told they had spots available and I asked if they would hold until I returned from out of town. Was told they would and the local facility will call to confirm. Get a call from facility and was told they dont hold spots itvis first come first serve. Without a doubt the most poorly run company I've experienced in a very long time. Let me recap briefly: * my RV is in a space there * I called to see about their side by side 20 x 20ft storage units (each 10 X 20), the guy said they had a couple available so I drove there to check them out as I was planning on moving from my other location to have my RV & Storage in the same location. * I show up, the girl says let's go check them out to see if their location will work for you. We get into her golf cart and she shows me the two side by side spaces and they're fine. We go back to the office. I agree to the $318/mo special as it was quoted on the phone and the manager comes over to execute the DocuSign contract. She also informs me that I'll need to buy/supply my own cylinder locks for both spaces and sells me two cylinder locks. So far, so good. * after I sign the DocuSign and their payment is processed (I got the email confirmation) she says that I need to install the cylinder locks and she tells me to get it the golf cart to return. We go back to the two spaces and the girl installs the two cylinder locks, hands me the keys and drives me back to my car and I leave. Still so far, so good! * I return with a 26' box truck loaded and pull up to my new spaces a few days later. One of my two cylinder locks are removed and there is no note, no email and no phone call. So I drive back to the office where a guy is alone in there and the second I try to explain the lock missing he announces that he doesn't work there and only wanted to give his friend, the manager a Friday off because "he deserved it". Hmmmm... ok, well can you open my other space and where did my lock go???? "Well I can leave a message for my friend and he can call you tomorrow" ok whatever, I'll just load the half I have a lock for then and I guess do the rest on Monday. Really sucks with a fully loaded truck but this kid didn't even work there from what he said so there was no point in yelling at him. * no phone call on Saturday, no call on Monday. I called the call center on Monday afternoon, they gave me the local store number that I called three times to no answer. Eventually the manager called me back. HERE WE GO! * He knows my name, my space number and the fact that something went way wrong and they drilled my brand new cylinder lock out... but says absolutely nothing besides "how can I help you?" I explain everything above and he cuts me off and says "you misunderstood! That special was for one 10X20 unit, not a side by side" * I explained that I was quoted that price on the phone, shown the space, quoted the price again by the girl who showed the space, and explained by the manager as I was asked to sign the DocuSign. * The manager (southern accent) cuts me off again and says "I'm looking at the digital contract and it's only got one unit on it, there's nothing I can do for you, you signed the DocuSign and if you want two they start at $550" * I tell the man, "your employees screwed this up royally and your solution is PAY NEARLY DOUBLE???" * He says "there is nothing I can do for you" * I tell him that this is insanity and if they are not willing to stand behind their employees mistakes and make things right with their customers, it's not a place I want to be. I say I'm going to move my RV out and the storage space out and his response was "thats fine". So be careful of the bait & switch with these guys. This might simply being a case of the incredibly bad decisions of one inexperienced manager reflecting poorly on the company and costing them business but you have been forewarned! read more

I have stored an RV at this facility for 7 years. In the last several years the rate increases have been piling on, typically every 6 months or so. I have complained every time a rate increase was sent, and, to their credit, they actually waived the increase one time. The latest increase was $40 a month (17%), up to $271 a month. This is for a 10' x 25' outdoor, uncovered parking space. If you look today at the website, you will see that they advertise this same space "web rate" for $199 per month. Their "in-store" price is $263, still $8 per month less than my new rate. What kind of a business model is this? A loyal 7 year customer (never missed or late with a single payment) has a higher rate ($72 a month higher) than a new customer walking in the door? I've never heard of such a slap in the face to a loyal long term customer, it is outrageous. I called several weeks ago when the rate increase postcard showed up and explained my position, to no avail. The sales rep tried to explain that the web rate was for new customers only, and that I couldn't compare that to my rate. I tried to explain to him, that you would think that a company would want to retain long term customers, and at least offer the same rate to all customers, but it was like talking to a brick wall. I asked him to please check with someone who may be able to do something about it, and call me back. I never received a call back. At the end of July 2019, I will be moving my RV to a space that I was finally able to get at the Elks Lodge, and will be saving over $200 a month! I would encourage others to avoid this money trap and look for a space elsewhere, you will be glad you did. read more

I looked back at my monthly bill for the 5x10 storage I rented back in November of 2016 and I used to pay $79/mo. Now I am paying $122/mo. That is an increase of 55% or more over the past 4 years. I could have bought a shed and put all my stuff in it, just with the extra money I've paid since the original rate. In fact that is what I am doing by the end of this month. read more

I've had a storage unit at this please for years, through several owners. Pros: Easy access, good access hours, nice/safe area, very clean. Cons: My main issue with this place is how they handle the price increases. There is no advance notice when the price will increase and as far as I can determine, there is no rhyme or reason to how often or by how much the rent will increase. I understand that rent goes up over time and I accept that. But I don't appreciate that rent goes up 10%+ from one month to the next some times, and without advance notice. Also, I have 2 identical units and the rent is more on one than it is on the other. I used to have 3 units and it was different for all 3. I don't like mysteries or surprises when it comes to pricing! I voiced my displeasure about this a couple years ago and got a call from a regional manager who told me that pricing has to do with the market value and occupancy rates. It was a useless explanation as she address my issues which are pricing difference between my units or why the price increases aren't on a regular schedule that I know in advance. More: I wish there was a discount for having multiple units at the same location, but no such deal exists. I don't deduct points for this, but it would be a nice "thank you" if they offered such a thing. read more

Absolutely love this storage! I had a terrible experience at Public Storage and was robbed. Extra Space has amazing security and their staff regularly walks around to make sure everything is safe. One time I forgot to lock my storage, and they contacted me to let me know they put a temporary lock on it for me. They are so friendly and helpful, I'm so thankful! read more

I've been a loyal customer for many years, yet the facility has changed ownership several times. With the current ownership ESS, they increase my rate a few times year. I started out at $114 per month and just received yet another increase notice today of $202 effective 4/01/18. ESS does not know how to retain customers as they use "market rates" as their reason. If you don't mind constant rental increases, then use ESS since they have acquired numerous facilities all around the LA/OC area. read more

I had a 5'x10' storage locker here for about~3 years during a time when I was moving around SoCal quite a bit for work and didn't want to relocate some of my bulkier items every time I moved apartments. I just recently cleared the unit out, following the purchase of a house -- but I wanted to leave some positive feedback. The facility was well-secured and very clean each time I visited. The staff were very helpful & friendly -- I'd like to name James and Joey in particular -- they were a huge help to me during the move out process (as my scheduled changed several times). In the past I had rented units with Public Storage over the years, but this latest positive experience with Extra Space Storage will make sure I always give them a closer look for any storage needs in the future. I docked 1 star because the rate increased many times over the 3 year period -- never getting outrageous, but certainly they could have earned a full 5 stars from me had they been less aggressive with the increases. This place is the best. Ed and Rodney are the epitome of professionalism. They are friendly, make you feel welcome. The rental process was easy and Rodney's knowledge really helped me figure out what I needed at a fair price. I think they are a great team and all my contact time with them has been great. Now let me tell you why I came to Extra Space Storage....... Because I couldnt wait to leave Public Storage. Here are the differences for you to consider if you are vacillating between the 2 companies. Public Storage access hours are not great. Extra Space much more flexible and 3 hours longer everyday. Public Storage makes you key in a ridiculous code TWICE in the building. Talk about slowing your momentum down. Extra Space you key in your gate code once and drive in. I can't even stress enough the time you waste because of this. Another fun item to deal with? They have like 6 poles in front of the front door so you have to navigate your moving cart around that ridiculousness. Thank you Extra Space Storage for not stressing me out by making me go thru an obstacle course just to wheel my personal items into a building. Moving carts? Public Storage: Go to the office, wait in line, turn in your drivers license to borrow one cart. Extra Space.....grab one and go! read more

The staff is super helpful and friendly, and the facilities are conveniently located right around the corner from RV parts and service, gas/diesel, and easy toll road access. This facility had a mishap with their accounts receivable and blocked access to my personal property, along with many other customers, as a result. I was a customer here for 11 years always using automated payments one week prior to the due date. They chose to disable my access code without warning or any attempt to track down the payment which I have proof was made directly from my checking account. The only saving grace for me is that I found out during a time that their office was actually open. Had it been after hours, it could have caused a much larger inconvenience. This is not a trustworthy business and certainly no place to store anything of value. read more

Buyer beware!! I rented a 10 X 15 climate controlled space about 3 years ago at what I recall was approximately $145/month. They now charge me $256/month for the same space while advertising a 10 x 20 for $167 on line. I called to inquire about the rate and the site manager told me she was on site but would call me back within half an hour....and of course she didn't. I went on line and was finally able to establish a chat with a "customer service rep" (If you say so...). I explained I had a rate question and the reply was that they couldn't help me with billing and they would have someone from the site contact me. I explained that I had called the site without success but the question was not about billing but RATE. I then explained my frustration at being charged so much and that their current advertised rate for a 10 x 20 was only $167/month. She explained that was a promotional rate and that market rates fluctuate. No where on their web site did it indicate that the $167/month was a promotional rate....nowhere. I certainly understand that rates will fluctuate with the market. However, a 76% increase in 3 years seems more than a bit over the top. I also explained to the chatline person that if they feel they are really in line with the market, they shouldn't have any issue with me displaying a poster in my car with the rate they were charging me while I drive across Houston...No reply to this. So, I'm outta there. Why do so many businesses like this here in the US, operate with such a low degree of integrity. What a shame.... read more
