I have driven by the Euclid Hotel/Restaurant at least 500 times over the years without ever stopping. Well, that all changed one week ago when I met an old buddy there for lunch. I LOVE THE EUCLID and the feeling of "home" as soon as I walked in the door. Shame on me for having never stopped before. The entire facility was VERY CLEAN, SUPER CLEAN and the staff greeted us with a welcoming smile. After being seated the waitress told us of the lunch specials and we ordered. My buddy a cheeseburger special & me a antipasto salad. The burger was done perfectly and my friend was delighted. My antipasto was EXCELLENT.....tons of meat, cheese, egg and a wide variety of vegetables. The salad was plated properly and was one of the most delicious I've had in years. We met some family here tonight for dinner. They suggested the Euclid. It's been a staple in their family for many years so why not have a family dinner here while we are visiting. It's a restaurant/ bar so they have a pretty broad menu. I did check out their menu online before heading there and they have a lot to pick from. The venue is a smaller joint. The bar was packed with patrons. We were sat in the dining area. The way they initially had the tables set up for us didn't really work. It was an awkward set up. After our server realized that they seating arrangement was a flop, she added another table to give us some more elbow room. Dinner was finally ordered and we had fresh bread to work on. They were nice and. I appreciate all the butter they gave us with the rolls. Of course we will have bread with our butter. For dinner my husband and I shared the Italian platter. It came with quite a few things. Chicken parmesan, fettuccine, ravioli and lasagna. It sounded perfect, a little bit of everything! For our side we got a side salad with blue cheese. The salad was ok. Your generic bagged salad from your local food distributor. Nothing but the salad mix and 1 cherry tomato. The blue cheese dressing was different. I had a couple bites and I was over it. Our Italian plate looked fabulous! Lots of sauce on everything. The fettuccine was creamy and thick. The noodles were cooked nicely. I wish I would have liked the marinara sauce that they used for the ravioli, chicken parm and lasagna. There was something off about the sauce that I didn't really care for. I ate a couple bites of everything and was done. The sauce was not my favorite. Our server did a decent job. I know she was handling a couple other tables so she was busy. You can tell she'd forget something but will remember and drop off the soda, extra plate or silverware. I'm happy we got to eat here tonight for dinner so we could see family. Service was nice. I haven't been here in quite a few years, so thought we would pop in on a weekday night for dinner, soliciting a local establishment. Upon entering, we noticed that there were quite a few people in the bar area seemingly having a great time. We were immediately seated and greeted by our lovely waitress, who made sure that we had everything we needed. However, great service can't make up for a lackluster meal. I ordered the sirloin steak and that came out as ordered, medium, but there was so much grizzle that I had to cut away half of it. This was served with the portion of pasta that had an overly sweet sauce. The iceberg lettuce salad, which preceded my dinner was shaken out of a bag and dotted with two cherry tomatoes. The bread basket contained three pathetic half white rolls. Due to the poor quality of my meal, I passed on the dessert. This is an old building, which appears to be in pretty good shape. The Euclid Hotel and now Restaurant is a landmark! It's located in Clay, NY. I really believe what was known to me as a child, being in the town of Euclid, now it is considered Clay, NY. The ambiance is so warm and inviting. I have been coming here for years. I mainly get the Friday night Haddock Fish Fry Special. It is consistently delicious! You get a large piece of fish that hangs over your plate. The opened-face Reuben and Clam Chowder are very good too. The service is excellent! I always like to be seated in Kelly's section. Should of went some place else. Lunch time, around 12:30 and only 4 tables with guests eating but our waitress was very slow. We should of had great service as no one was there. My cole slaw was dripping watery milk like stuff all over the table. My 3 pieces of tenders one was very brown and 2 were barley cooked, should of been cooked in same basket. The prime rib was thin , chewy,and no flavor. Mashed potatoes were boxed no real and the gravy was horrible, it was so salty you couldn't eat it. It certainly was not worth $25.95. I had the open face Ruben it was huge and that was the best thing about it the bread was so soggy. I ended up throwing that away and just no flavor. The waitress asked what would you like for your side? She said french fries or coleslaw and I said coleslaw, when the bill came there was a charge of $1.99 for the coleslaw. I have been here twice. Once on a weekend and then again, two months later on a Tuesday night both times the food was subpar. Haven't been here in years but have heard good things and wanted to check it out since they redid the place. Inside looks the same as it always has but with a different arrangement of tables/chairs. Low key, family type restaurant, kindof reminds me of an American Legion. We got prime rib & bacon wrapped scallops and a fish dinner. Fish was good size, scallops were small but tasted good, prime rib was over cooked but still edible. Mashed potatoes were the best part if we're honest. Not a huge fan of their steak fries, seems like a less than ideal choice for a restaurant as they always taste like they need to be cooked longer. After reading a number of reviews we decided to try it for ourselves on Saturday night. We arrived about 7pm and waited less than 20 minutes in the bar area (was quite busy but we found 2 stools), for a table. Was much brighter than I remember it last time we were there about 10 years ago. Prime Rib was on my dinner partner's mind so he ordered it medium rare with salad and fettuccini Alfredo, (too many bad reviews of the red sauce). I opted for boom boom shrimp, salad, and Alfredo sounded good so I went for it. Was still chilly in dining area but newer more comfortable seating and faster much more pleasant staff and service were a definite change for the better. I do wish we knew they serve prime rib all week as it was definitely precooked and reheated which affects texture, taste, and visual. Salads were lettuce a bit of purple cabbage and tomato, but fresh. Fettuccini was perfectly cooked al dente but the dollop of Alfredo on top we both agreed tasted like jarred, not very cheesy and thick. The boom boom shrimp were crispy and spicy very good. Prices are reasonable and the food is basic. Good for families to eat out on a budget. Server was friendly and attentive. We had dinner there last night my girlfriend had the perch which she said had no taste very bland I had the walleye dinner and same thing bland no seasoning. it came with instant mashed potatoes and a salad that had 1 grape tomato and was ok but kind of skimpy. Not very good. Had onion rings that were definitely frozen from a bag...so were the fries ( which usually wouldn't bother me but these were just unseasoned steak fries). Unfortunately I did not think of taking a photo of my meal. Ordered prime rib, medium-rare, which arrived in several pieces, mostly fat, and well done. When this was pointed out to the waitress her response was "it was cooked today." The manager came over and when we showed him the plate he said "I have no control over the cow." No offer was made to remake the plate or offer an alternate entree. He said he "couldn't just throw it out." Basically, even more disappointing than the meal was the attitude of the staff. It's challenging to write a review when I only ever order one thing, but that one thing is better than anyone else's. If you're a fan of Reuben sandwiches, this is the place to get it. Open-faced, piled high with thinly sliced corned beef, just the right amount of cheese and dressing. There's a choice of cabbage - either traditional sauerkraut or red cabbage; both are delicious and plentiful. If you're really hungry, you might finish it. Drink prices are good and this place is like the Cheers of Clay. If you like Prime Rib, this place can't be beat! My hotel swore this was the best restaurant and non chain around. I'd be thrilled, they said. The food is amazing, they told me. I was thrilled as this area is suffocated with poor chains. Ironically, I quickly learned the food is much better at the chains I was trying to avoid. My food was below average and I watched carefully what was being brought to other tables, which turned out to be a lot more of sub par food. Everything was blah, except the service, which was good. This reminds me of an old diner with lots of fried food, poor quality and filled with locals who believe iceberg lettuce and bland white bread is good. If you value quality food, avoid this place. Went to the restaurant with some friends and family and it was VERY loud a group of guys were hooting and hollering the whole time we were at the restaurant and it was very difficult to talk over them. When the food came their was A LOT of it....but..... ehhh it was okay to be very nice about it. I got chicken Alfredo and for the 12-13$ price I expected a great sauce with lots of cheese...... pretty sure it was from a jar hardly any taste and after putting almost a whole thing of parmesan cheese on it it was still lacking... expected a lot more because I have heard great things about the place and I was disappointed and others were too with the quality of the food they got in our group.
