First time visitors. As we often drive through rt31, we happened to spot this very small, tucked in the middle of a nearly empty plaza, pizza joint. Mostly take out. Not sure about delivery services. Couple days later we placed a pickup order for a large Neapolitan, with mushrooms and pepperoni and a large garden salad, with their own homemade Italian dressing. As we are always searching for great pizza since we moved back to New York, I can honestly say we are thrilled we found this place. The young lady who took my order over the phone was pleasant and very accommodating, and didn't rush me off the phone. Their menu far exceeds being just a pizza joint, but for now we just tried the pie and the salad. In short, the pizza was outstanding as was the large garden salad. Let's talk about that salad. For $7.50, we got a very large "garden" salad that was far from the norm. This thing was packed with fresh greens, assorted veggies, cauliflower etc. This was so close to being called a large chefs salad, just missing the protein. First glance, this place was very clean and well organized. But the star was the pie. Absolutely spot on and we are in the process of trying them all. From their on-line menu: Neapolitan thin crust large 16"Pizza $15.50 Garden Salad Field greens, tomato, roast peppers, olives, onions, giardiniera. $7.50 Both items were worth every penny. The pizza here is so good! The crust is flavorful and crispy yet still chewy. The sauce is tangy and it always has the perfect amount of mozzarella. One of the best hidden gems in Central New York. Some of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time I found at Sapori by Antonio. Probably some of the nicest people I've ever dealt with customer service wise always pleasant and Tonio doesn't let me tip when he brings my order out to the curb during the quarantine just genuinely a great guy that shows his love through his food. The sit down restaurant was a debacle. Understaffed. Waitresses with thumbs in drinks. Took five minutes for waitress to point at a table directly under the A/C, then another ten to come around and take our order. Food is overpriced. Update: actually, after ten minutes, someone just dropped bread. A bartender? was just standing uselessly while a single waitress struggled with the whole room. We left after twenty five minutes. We have a lot of good Italian food restaurants in Upstate New York, but I have to say for the price & the quality of the food this place is spectacular. The waitstaff was slow to get our drinks, orders, and food, but the wait was well worth it. I personally think the food is very well priced for the ambiance, the service, and the product of what you are getting. I would definitely go back as I truly enjoyed their homemade tomato sauce. Their angle hair was delicious, the veal parm was flavorful, & their chicken riggies came al-dente with just enough heat. You are not coming here for the ambiance or the service, but instead you are coming here for a home cooked Italian meal at a great restaurant run by a local family. Got a pizza here on a Friday and called in a half Cheese and half pepperoni. The guy said it was going to be twenty minutes. Walked in twenty five minutes later and he is just making the pizza. Crust was chewy and not a lot of flavor. The restaurant itself is pretty large, with lots of seating. The pasta portion was great, and cooked pretty good. One order would feed 4 average adults, provided it wasn't the sole thing being eaten. It came with a decent sized side salad and two garlic knots. I'd like to the other pasta options sometime. Whenever I go to a pizza place for the first time, I always order cautiously by sticking with plain cheese slices. While I had been craving pizza for some time, I gave in and pulled into Sapori. I did so entirely unplanned and, in fact, I had intended to go elsewhere a few miles down the road. My pizza lust got the best of me and since Sapori was closer, this is how I arrived here. I violated my Rule #1 of pizza club: I ordered slices with loads of toppings for a first time experience.... a meat lovers and a chicken bacon ranch. They looked decent while on display behind the glass and the folks who worked there were polite. After my slices were reheated, I sampled the meat lovers ( pepperoni, sausage, bacon, ham and who knows what else) slice. Crust was decent but shy of flavor while I was largely overwhelmed by the salty, spicy flavors of the meats. I saw cheese and sauce but, could not really taste any. Overall, this slice was very dry and probably was well past its prime by the time I ordered it. Like wise for the chicken bacon ranch slice. Dry, very dry and worse yet, the fried, breaded chunks of chicken had that greasy, old flavor that re-heated fried chicken acquires. The bacon was too crisp and on the verge of being burnt. The flavor of the ranch dressing was missing in action. This crust was noticeably thinner than the first slice and also had little to no flavor. Perhaps if both slices were fresher, they might have been better, however, the business owner should have the good sense to dispose of pizza that is well past its prime and not try to sell it to paying customers.The cost of tossing a few old slices could have gained the business a new repeat customer. Overall, disappointing yet motivating. I am motivated to eat pizza elsewhere. read more

This review is only based on me just happening to be driving by and having the urge for a slice of pizza. I've been meaning to stop here but just haven't had the chance until today. The lunch selection of slices was ok. I was hoping for mushroom but none was there so I opted for just a cheese slice and honestly it was pretty good. The sauce was a bit sweet for me but that's just a personal preference. The dough was good for a reheated slice and it could hav been heated a bit more but hey it was good and I'll def order from here in the future. The place appeared pretty clean too. Overall much better than the last pizza joint that was there Just ordered a mushroom and sausage and it was pretty good. My husband and I ate at Sapori's for the first time per coworker recommendation and it was great! He got the house special with mushrooms and chicken in a cream sauce and I had the best chicken parm I have ever tasted in my life! This restaurant has a pizzeria on one side and a sit down restaurant on the other that's small and quaint. I liked the dim lighting and cozy atmosphere. We both left with a great lunch for the next day. The rolls were very good and the salad was great! I took a picture of it! Beyond disappointed with Sapori Management!! Ordered dinner tonight from Sapori in Cicero and was looking forward to the utica greens. Well, not only did they forget our salads (ok, it happens), but the greens they sent were completely charred on the top! Not even edible! When I called to complain, the nice girl that answered said they had just run out of greens, but could give us a credit for future order. After talking with the manager (or I guess owner, Antonio!!), she said she could not credit us and it was just the top of the greens that were burnt and we could just push that aside and eat underneath! WHAT??!!!! They shouldn't have even left the kitchen that way! That's like getting burnt chicken parm and them telling you to remove the cheese on top cause the chicken underneath is fine! I couldn't believe the owner actually had her tell us that and then wouldn't even get on the phone to talk with us! Only until my husband threatened to bring the greens down to show other customers what they were serving and force the manager/owner to address the issue in person, did the nice girl say he would call us back when he was 'not so busy! I'm not holding my breath!! We had been ordering from here weekly, but now will never again support this establishment that treats its customers this way! I expect better customer service and better quality control if they want to keep repeat business! Given the Covid situation, one would think businesses would want to retain their customers, but this not the way. Let me be clear, I did not expect anything free, just the quality food I had already paid for. Had the owner given us credit & treated us with respect, he would likely still have a weekly customer. This was our second visit here. Salads were good, cranberry citrus dressing was delicious. Their rolls were like crescent rolls but much better. Red clam sauce wasn't on the menu but they made it, husband said it was pretty good. I had chicken Francaise served on top of pasta, this also was good. Our waitress, Maddie, was very helpful. My only complaint was the napkins they were using, cheap ones that go into a dispenser. Apparently they ran out of decent napkins, quick fix would have been to send someone down the street to buy some until they get their regular ones. read more

The husband and wife team do the cooking and their daughter is a server. Everything is made from scratch at the restaurant. My eggplant Parmigiana was the best I've ever had. It was piping hot, tasty and seasoned to perfection. It came with rolls made at the restaurant along with a garden salad and side of pasta. For $16, there was a lot of food! This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem! Their pizza is very, very good. But, their dinners are absolutely amazing! Every time I've been there the servers were extremely friendly. Yes, we waited quite a bit the one time for our food. But, we are not restaurant experts and having been a waitress for years when I was growing up and seeing how tough it is in the kitchen....the wait was still worth it. Maybe they could hire another cook to help or another waitress. Other than that, Saporis is awesome. I'm originally from out of state. Not a good experience unfortunately. We came in and were well communicate with at the beginning that there was a 5 minute wait, not bad, as there was a full dining room. A few tables left in about 10 minutes time, and we were seated fairly quickly at that point. We sat down and received menus and the waitress took our drink order. I asked about the wine and she was knowledgeable about what they had, but was unsure if chianti was by the glass or the bottle. She appropriately said she was not sure and went and checked. She was able to tell me it was by the glass and she took our drink orders. That is where the good service ended unfortunately. After she dropped off the drinks and bread, she set them down and didn't stop to ask if we were ready to order, nothing. Then she never came back. We watched her pick up dirty plates from 2 tables, grab the water and refill half full water glasses on people who where already eating, but never came back to our table. I made eye contact with her and instead of coming over she grabbed a bin and went into the back dining area and started to pick up dirty plates off another couples table and set the binn down to start cleaning off the big table in the back. By this time we had been waiting over 45 minutes since we recieved our drinks. I got up and asked if she would be taking our order and she told me in a minute and looked over at the empty table that needed cleared. I asked that she please come over before clearing the big table. She then did not come to our table but instead, went over and complained to another waitress who looked at us but neither came over right away. They both went in back and a few minutes later the other waitress came over and it was obvious she was not happy. She stood 2 tables away flipping through her ticket book and came over. She did not apologize but asked us for our order. I told her we would like the check. She then stated she apologized but they were trying to catch up. I stated it was okay and she did not need to argue with us and she became defensive and said I'm not arguing. I said well you are and we just would like our check. She looked at the table and said okay and walked away. She brought the check and we paid for our drinks and left. The point is there was a full dining when we arrived. There were only 2 waitresses. I understand catching up, however, there was not one person waiting for a table at the point when we were seated. We were waiting to order. Instead of attending to us she was cleaning up. I understand if there were people waiting to be seated, but there were not. This was just bad prioritizing and it's too bad because the food was well recommended. Not sure we will ever try it again. I am a huge fan of this restaurant. I have ordered many pizzas (I recommend the Brooklyn Bridge) and wings from here and they take pride in their food. Lately I've been enjoying their italian sandwiches. It takes time to cook the bread fresh (sandwiches can take about 20 minutes), but you can modify their sandwiches to your liking, i have called in dine in orders ahead of time so they have time to make the bread fresh! I've never really done their dinners, but I've seen plenty of people leaving satisfied when picking up a pizza. If there's a game on, they often let me change the tv channel while i eat or wait for pickup. read more

Real Italian pizza made by real Italians!!! This is the real deal. If you're looking for greasy pizza loaded with fake, greasy cheese, go to a crappy pizza chain. I ordered Antonio's favorite pizza and it was delicious with fresh, original ingredients. The mozzarella is fresh which means it's the real white kind. The sauce is delicious. And the toppings are fresh and great. I also recently had a focaccia panini and it was also delicious with fresh ingredients. Absolutely excellent food with service that somehow tops it. Expect mounds of Italian morsels to engulf your mouth and enliven your pallet. Sapori By Antonio is the perfect name, as he does create dishes exploding with flavor. And do not expect small portions just because they're offering up gourmet cuisine. The pasta is always prepared perfectly with plenty of fare, and unlike so many other places, they never skimp on ingredients in their pasta dishes (even when it's seafood!!!). If you don't want to sit in, just get a pizza to go. Either the Margarita or Antonio's favorite are excellent choices. Know that your pizza will be golden and crisp, made perfect even on days where there are lines out the door and perfect pizza would seem impossible. I've always received primo service. A spacious fine dining room invites you to conversate over appetizers before your meal and digest with coffee and canoli after. The waitstaff are so nice and so helpful and always make the wife and I feel comfortable and taken care of. Simply Impeccable staff even at the counter where they are always enthusiastic and ready to help, giving me full attention even when it seems like they should be overwhelmed. Of all the times I've ordered or eaten here only twice I've had to wait a bit of extra time, once dining and once, just yesterday, ordering out and I'm telling you Antonio himself took care of the issue very quickly and was overly fair. What's amazing is that yesterday I saw him rush the order and it was still perfect! Honestly, if you live in the Syracuse area then make the trip.
