a dining room with tables and chairs

I've been here quite a few times and always given top marks. Always been tip top. We went for a birthday dinner on Saturday night. I hate to downgrade any restaurant but I simply have no choice due to total disinterest in customer comfort and service. We were seated directly under a speaker which was really loud. I wear hearing aids which make things difficult anyway and there was a loud buzz of conversation so who wants music blaring anyway. I asked our waitress if she could get the volume lowered slightly. She said she would enquire and I never heard a word back from her about it. If she asked, then the person in charge took not the slightest bit of notice and never even bothered to come over and check. So my request was never addressed. It may be my imagination ( I was fairly pissed off) but it seemed almost as if they increased the volume slightly in a fit of petulance. I don't think a single person in there would have noticed if the music had been turned off. Good as the food is, it ruins the experience when you can't converse. Shame really as I've always enjoyed coming here. They need to keep in mind it's a restaurant, not a bloody disco....

Nestico's is great! We have been there and ordered delivery and with every order we are happy. Nestico's has one of the best meatballs in town. Had the meatball sub recently and I couldn't have happier taste buds and tummy. Their Arincini is a must have appetizer, that cheesey fried rice ball is a perfect appetizer. Not to mention that marinara sauce for dipping is drinkable by itself! The fresh bread is fresh, nothing special about it or the butter but wait!!! It's the perfect bread to soak up whatever sauce you have leftover, that's the move to make, trust me! My wife got the eggplant tonight and she was extremely happy with it. It was a great meal once again. I highly encourage you to Enjoy!!

Nice Italian spot in North Syracuse. The mural on the side of the building is pretty cool and new. Service was good but they could use more help when crowded as my server had so many tables seemed hard to keep up. Tried a few different things on the menu and all were yummy. Bread served before meal was ok but dry with no oil or butter or something to dip into. Might of just been the weather but annoying nats inside.

Nesticos is an Italian restaurant that has become a staple in North Syracuse. Situated right on RT 11, they are known for their Italian specialties, but say they are so much more than that. They have a casual environment that is suited for anyone and any meal. My wife and I came to Nesticos a long time ago. It's been so long that I honestly remember nothing about the experience. We had wanted to give it another try, and recently were able to purchase a Groupon for them, so we decided to give them another try over the weekend. It was pretty busy on a Saturday night, but we were able to be sat right away. Our server came and brought us our menus. We had a couple questions, including what exactly their pasta our was, which she answered was spaghetti in a cheese cause baked in a spring pan on top of a mushroom crust to look kinda like a cheesecake, then placed on a bed of their red sauce. My wife chose the pasta pie as she loves mushrooms, while I went with their Sicilian Grilled Chicken, a dish of grilled chicken breasts topped with their house balsamic on top of a bed of Utica Greens. Bread was brought over, which was pretty tasty garlic topped warm bread with some fresh butter. Our dishes were brought pretty quickly, but we were very disappointed with them. My chicken breasts we're fine, but the Utica Greens were not good. I LOVE Utica Greens, make them at home all the time, and I understand that restaurants cannot make things like this to only suit ones taste, but there are two key ingredients in the flavor of Utica Greens...garlic and cherry peppers. There wasn't nearly enough garlic and there wasn't ANY cherry peppers in it. The spiciness of the cherry peppers is what makes the flavor of Utica Greens, and they were completely missing. My wife did not enjoy hers either and wouldn't finish it. I tried a bite myself and it was pretty bad. It was explained that the spaghetti itself is put into a cheese sauce, but it was dry and crumbly, and the sauce it was on was not very tasty. I hate to say this, but the sauce reminded me of eating Spaghetti O's when I was young. Extremely bland, sweet sauce, no seasoning. Our service was good and very polite. That and the bread is really the only reason they're getting 2 stars. The place is decorated nicely, but kinda stuffy and outdated. I don't believe we'll be back after this experience.

Went here for Valentines Day with hubby on the recommendation of a couple friends. They were busy, as expected on this particular holiday. We had reservations and were seated very promptly. Took a little while to have our server show up, but I give them a pass here considering how busy they were. Ordered our appetizers and meals, then they brought out some fresh bread that was warm, soft and very tasty. Appetizer of fried calamari arrived quickly and was honestly the highlight of the meal; the calamari rings were crispy, tasted great, and the dipping sauce was yummy. No complaints there. Then the wait began for our entrees, which took about a half hour to arrive. I had the chicken parmigiana and hubby had a filet and shrimp scampi risotto combo. My chicken was a little over cooked, and I was not a fan of the red sauce. Hubby ordered the filet medium but it arrived very well done. He said it was a good cut of meat but not seasoned at all. He did really like the shrimp scampi risotto. We passed on desert. I'd give them a second try sometime on a normal night, but really the busy holidays are when you'd expect them to be on top of their game.

I stopped in on wing Wednesday, and boy, oh boy, was I in for a treat. On Wednesdays, their wings are .75 cents per wing, a minimum of 10 per order. So, in true foodie fashion, I decided to order some for "now and later." I chose their Val wings, Salt & Pepper, and Korean BBQ. We also ordered a Cheesesteak, I had been told by 2 people that this was the best cheesesteak in town, and I just had to try it for myself. Let's start with their wings. Are they a great value ? Yes! Were they amazing? Also, yes! These wings were simply great. Great size, great flavor profile, just great across the board! I can't imagine coming here and not ordering their wings. So good! You're probably thinking, well, what about the cheesesteak... well, I can assure you that the 2 people who suggested I try it did not steer me wrong. This cheesesteak was delicious!!! Full of tender steak, toppings, and loaded with cheese just how I love it. To make matters even better on Tuesdays, you can order a loaded cheesesteak & fries for only $8. The Old Ledge is truly a hidden gem. Great atmosphere, amazing bar staff, and a phenomenal cook!

We seek out places like this who hold them to a higher standard. (Usually the places that have "Cheesesteak" or "Philadelphia" in their names.) The litmus test is whether or not they offer whiz as an option. These were miles above the stuff you'd get from a non-Philly branded place in Syracuse, but on the lower end of the good tier. We would definitely ask for extra dressing/whiz on our next order, because they were disappointingly dry. It seemed like an oxymoron to order Whiz Wit and have it come out dry. With that said though, all the ingredients were amazing. The bread is light, pretty much a full on sub roll. The meat was tender and tasted legit. Nothing weird, stringy or clearly frozen. The Smokey Horseradish Dijon kind of got lost in the shuffle. Same meat as the philly, but the mild kick from the mustard didn't really match what a focus on cheese would have done. The chicken cordon bleu was solid. The minced chicken was actually pretty moist. We added cherry peppers, which took it to another level and I would now never go without. Minced chicken is hit or miss for me, but I rolled the dice for chicken cordon bleu and hit the jackpot. These guys aren't my favorite "authentic" Philly in Syracuse, but they hold down the north side just fine. I'd be happy to eat here any time, and the prices are pretty good as well.

The owners of XCrispy spent a year transforming a run-down former Pizza Hut from an eyesore into a nicely remodeled, open space, blending halal traditions with American comfort staples like smashburgers, chopped cheese, and chicken over rice. X Crispy is near my job, so I was excited to try them. I saw they had breakfast options, and they had a steak, egg and cheese sandwich, which oddly enough isn't offered in many places in CNY, so that was the first thing I tried. You're able to customize, so I got it on a roll with "mixed cheese" & their house sauce. I ordered online, and their online ordering option is easy to use and allows substitutions. It was ready as soon as I got there, which was around 10AM on a Saturday. It was delicious, still hot and fresh even though it was already ready when I got there. My only complaint was there wasn't enough house sauce on it for my taste, but it was still delicious, piled high with steak. My second time, my wife wanted to give it a try, and we got some dinner items. We ordered online again, a smash burger and one of their crispy chicken sandwiches. We asked for several things on the side, as we were taking it to go and had about a 35 minute drive with it. We got it home and unfortunately were disappointed. Both items were dry, the chicken sandwich almost seemed like it was frozen, and all items that were asked for on the side were simply removed and left out from our order. I didn't think we would return after that, but I just kept seeing good review after good review and thought...this has to have been an off day, or the food simply doesn't travel well. So I gave them another try over the weekend when I was craving a cheese burger and knew I had time to eat it there. I, again, ordered online and got the smash hit burger with fries, and left out tomato and lettuce as I'm not a fan on smash burgers. And they definitely redeemed themselves. Again, food was ready as soon as I got there, was fresh, the burger was moist, juicy, seasoned well, and not only did it have the sauce on it, I was also given extra on the sides, so I have to chalk the one time up to a bad day, and everyone's allowed that. I will continue to go back, but more than likely, only when I'm able to eat right there.

In 2022, the conversation started about what sort of a "ghost-kitchen" concept would be fun to open. After bouncing a few ideas around, they landed on 3-1-Fried, but instead of serving bone-in fried chicken, decided to focus on making fried-chicken sandwiches.  The three owners spent more than a month designing their sandwich with Kevin Harrington, the manager and cook at Limp. They incorporated a variety of spices into the flour used for the breading. They auditioned several buns before settling on a brioche. They created sandwiches with chicken breasts and some using chicken thighs. Then they figured out the toppings, and officially opened for business in April inside of the Limp Lizard in North Syracuse. I love me some fried chicken. Fried chicken, in all its forms, are one of my absolute favorite foods. I've been following 3-1-Fried since before they opened and could not wait to give them a try. Since they've opened, I'd heard nothing but good things about them, but gave it a month for the craziness to die down before I gave them a try. Yesterday was that day. Wife and I went in right at opening at noon. My wife ordered the Chucks Hot Honey, topped with pickled red onions, lettuce and hot honey, while I chose the buffalo, topped with buffalo sauce, pickles, and blue cheese. Both came with tots. Our food was made quickly, but we were unfortunately very disappointed with it. My wife and I both experienced the same thing...both sandwiches meat were rubbery, dripping with oil, and all the breading just slid right off the sandwiches. The brioche buns were good, tots were great, well cooked, crispy and very well seasoned. But what matters at a fried chicken restaurant is the fried chicken, and it did not live up to the hype. Little bit on the pricier side as well, as all sandwiches with tots are between $13 to $15 dollars. We had high hopes for the place, and it's possible they had an off day, but our two sandwiches came to over $30 and for the price, with what we were served, we would not return.
