A group of 12 of us came to Francesca's last night. We started outside in the beautiful patio area, and had to move inside near the end of the dinner due to rain. Moving inside was easy as they had a great table already set up in case of rain. I got the seafood risotto special. Because it was a special, the prices were not attached. If I knew it would've cost $42, I may have paused and not spent the money on it. However, I am glad I did not know the price and ended up getting it because it was the best dinner I have had in about a year. The fish was perfectly seasoned and complemented the risotto so well. The strawberries on it seemed like an odd choice, but the flavor combination was outrageous. It was extremely delicious. I got a summer risotto dish from Francesca's last year as well, it was also excellent. They do their flavor combinations so well. Overall, our group was extremely happy with our choices. The service was impeccable. I wish I remembered our server's name. He was engaging, patient, and had a great personality. read more

Went there last night 7/16/26. Originally had 6:45 reservations on patio, but I called to switch to indoors because of the air quality from the Canadien fires. They could only get us a bar section table at 7:15. I explained that I have a condition where breathing the toxic air would be harmful, yet the manager kept telling me she is trying to accommodate me. It's not accommodating when you give me a table that I could have reserved myself because it was available. She did nothing for me and had a callous attitude towards my condition. She pretty much said take it or leave it. Nice!!!! Our server was nice but inattentive. Took 15 minutes to get water. The sauce with the bread was delicious. Some of the best I've had. The Arancini was ok. They use way too much breading and there's not enough sauce. It's supposed to be rice balls, not breading balls. My Chicken Parm was very tender but had no flavor. None. Needed more sauce. Pasta was very good. My wife had the Gorgonzola fillet medallions which were very rich ....to be expected. The portion was huge. She seemed to really enjoy it. There's enough leftover for another meal. In total, I was really put off by the callous attitude of my condition and how the manager pleaded with me that she was trying to accommodate me by giving me an open slot I could have reserved myself on open table. I will start this as I always do by saying I do not give out five stars unless I am really blown away. I love this place. Food is always good. Service is excellent and the outdoor seating area is amazing. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Syracuse. The only problem I have is the parking. I highly recommend the arancini balls and the Utica greens for appetizers. The pasta I tried this time just needed a little salt but otherwise the dish was excellent. If the weather is nice sitting outdoors is awesome. It doesn't fell at all like you are in downtown Syracuse. The price is a little high but totally worth it with the food being so good and the helpings you get. I don't usually get dessert but the cheesecake looked so good I had to try it and I wasn't disappointed at all. I was overly full afterwards but totally worth it. We came to Francesca's Cucina on Monday night after graduation weekend and had such a great experience. We had reservations for 6:30 PM and were seated immediately upon arrival. A little advice, try to make reservations before 7 PM because the restaurant gets very crowded later in the evening. The complimentary focaccia bread was absolutely delicious : soft, fresh, and full of flavor. We shared the mozzarella triangles as an appetizer, which were excellent. For my entrée, I ordered the pecan-crusted salmon salad and it was amazing. My lady bug had the ravioli, and so did snore bug , both really enjoyed it. Our waiter was outstanding: bubbly, attentive, and made the whole dinner even more enjoyable. The ambiance was vibrant and lively, perfect for celebrating after graduation weekend. Another plus is that the restaurant offers complimentary parking with several parking lots available nearby. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience and would definitely come back! read more

We have been in Syracuse for 5 years and we had just not had time to go experience this great restaurant...now we understand. We had some friends visit and we went as a party of 7 and we had a little of everything We all enjoyed everything we got and of course we had a buffet of yummy sweetness at the end! I would highly suggest this place. The only issue we had was the patio was not handicap accessible, they had multiple steps even to get to the first level of the patio. Francesca's is an awesome restaurant offering quality Italian-style food in a pleasant setting. Tonight, we ordered the MVP chicken and the ciopino. The ciopino was nicely loaded up with seafood & served on a bed of linguini and came out hot. The chicken was a large portion with a side of rigatoni that was served cold. Both came with house salad, but we opted for the Caesar salad with an up charge. The price for the up charge? $5 for the Caesar, and another $3 for anchovies. So, my chicken with Caesar came to $37. Ridiculously expensive for chicken. And, they put olives and peppers on the Caesar. Who puts that on a Caesar salad? Might as well put tomatoes on, too. One thing I always find annoying about Francesca's is how loud it gets inside. You find yourself shouting to hold a conversation. Francesca's is above average, but it has a few bumps, like pricing. Why is eggplant parm or ravioli $26? Gnocchi $26? The food is good, just not worth the price when compared to other options available. read more

Food portions are much smaller, sauce has changed and they advertise high tops near the fire pit as 4 person but they are half taken up by the vines on the buildings so only 2 people fit comfortably. We were celebrating my daughters Birthday and she chose Francesca's patio for the second year consecutively. Arrived at 630 for reservation, about a twenty minute wait time. That gave us time to order cocktails at the bar, we loved the Raspberry Limoncello Spritzers. Light, refreshing, and summery! We sat by the fire pit and sipped on our cocktails soaking in the Al Fresco dining experience. Once seated not far from the fire pit, bread with olive oil sauce for dipping and waters were delivered. We ordered Arancini for appetizer, everything thus far hot, fresh, and delish! My daughter ordered the Filet medium rare that looked more on the rare side but she did not mind. I ordered Lobster Carbonara that was presented from a jar. Interesting concept. Unfortunately it was a very thick, chewy, bland pasta. It needed more seasoning peppercorn, pepper flakes, grated cheese or cheeses might have helped the hopeless blandness of this dish. The lobster in the dish was sweet and succulent. The egg based sauce lacked the seasoning. Service was pleasant and steady throughout our meal. I opted for the Velvet Martini as my second coctail. Fresh , Citrus taste. We preferred the Spritzers. The waitress did offer to switch out my meal but there was no need for that. I gave the carbonara a whirl and it is just not to my liking. Fabulous desserts the Reece's Peanut butter tarte cake was to die for and mint cannoli. They comped my cannoli in Lieu of the carbonara. Plenty of leftovers to go. On a Monday evening we were able to park in the side lot and were seated right away at a quiet table by the window in the northern room. On to the ambiance it is warmly lit and welcoming. We had the warm fresh focaccia bread and sauce which comes to whet the appetite and it is a fluffy saucy teaser of what is to come. We had salad We both had the chicken parm which is nothing like any chicken parm we have had before. I chose the version with the pesto drizzle relishing the flavor combo and al dente homemade rigatoni. Service was attentive without being annoying very friendly and helpful. My friends picked this for our girls night dinner. My first time here but I've had their food through catering at my old job before. I wouldn't rush back any time soon, I know I know. The inside was a bit cramped and the dining room we sat at was cramped and loud(due to the amount of people in there lol). The highlights were the cocktails, fried goat cheese fritter, side salad and my friend got the chocolate mousse cake that was good. The service was good. The calamari was rubbery and I didn't care for that(I had calamari a week prior at different restaurant it was delicious). My entree was the lobster ravioli, it was ok nothing special. Booked a table advertised as "high top fire pit" seats 4 people and the table is against the wall in the fire pit area with vines over growing half the table making two of the seats unusable due to you having to sit halfway in the vines to just fit 4 people at the table. read more

Good food, only downside is they make you wait entire party is there to sit at the table, which makes it difficult when you're planning a suprise party!! Wish they could have accommodated that for me. Stopped in with 7:30 dinner reservations on a Tuesday- unfortunately the table was not ready and we were left to languish at the bar for an extra 15 minutes. This is a common trend at Francesca's. That being said, once we did get seated and the food started rolling in- the wait became worthwhile. I had the Arancini a Seafood Greens to start. Both were good, but the greens could use a little more spice. I had the cioppino as my main course and it was fantastic. A true bounty of the sea. Order it without hesitation. They also don't split checks so be prepared for that. Between that and the slower service, they lost a star in my book. I'm sure I'll be back. read more

I hate to write this review but we had our first disappointing meal at Francesca's. We normally go in the summer and sit outside but it is February so we sat inside. It took like 20 minutes after our reservation to be seated. We were seated in the back room by the bathrooms and it was sooooo loud. You could barely hear each other or the waitress. We had specifically chosen Francesca's for their advertised scallop and lobster pasta special. It was both my husband and my bday weekend and we were both planning on getting it. The waitress came to get our drink order and said they were out of it. I was so disappointed but not much we could do. I ordered the seafood riggies instead and I understand it has onions but this was an excessive amount of onions. Like an entire onion for one pasta dish. More onion than pasta. I ate some of it but my husband finished it. Then when she brought the check it had $5 next to both our Caesar salads. When I questioned it she said there is an up charge for Caesar. I said it says comes with soup or salad and when we said Caesar who never said there was an up charge. She apologized and took one of them off which is weird as seems like they should have both come off as she never mentioned an up charge. So all in all $160 for two dinners one desert to go and two drinks each. Unfortunately in the future will only go in the summer and really wished we picked somewhere else for our bdays. read more

Had an amazing birthday dinner at Francesca's! We started with the goat cheese fritters, with crostini and spicy marinara, my favorite in cny. We also tried stuffed hot cherry peppers which had plenty of kick. For dinner, the lobster pasta special with asparagus, lemon, tarragon sauce and plenty of lobster was amazing. The roasted halibut with truffle orzo and broccoli rabe was also fantastic and so flavorful. The chicken Riggies and Wagyu beef ravioli are always excellent choices for homemade pasta. For dessert we shared butter cakes with strawberry sauce and homemade ice cream--crispy edges and tender, buttery inside. So delicious! Our server, Jessica, was attentive and knowledgeable. We went here while visiting family in Syracuse. It's very expensive and mediocre at best. Most of the food we had didn't have a lot of flavor or seasoning and the cavatelli was in a beef broth, not a tomato base broth. Just not overly impressed for the price. read more

I always have a great time going to Francesca's Cucina. Decided to get an early dinner with a 5:15 reservation in the dining area. My table was ready as soon as I arrived. I do recommend going to an earlier dinner there, as it gets very busy after 6:30. The service was lovely, very timely and I never felt rushed. Our server was very informative about the menu and answered every question I had. After ordering drinks our server let us place our appetizer order and informed us that after we were done with the app, they would start dinner for us. We got the bang bang calamari as an appetizer. Cooked beautifully. The calamari was not rubbery and the breading was crispy. Well seasoned and not overly spicy. Soups and salads were brought promptly after the appetizer. We never had a crowded table, very lovely service. I got the side Cesar salad and my partner got the Italian wedding soup. The salad wasn't a plain Cesar salad, it came with red peppers and olives. The soup was hot and tasted lovely. We used the bread that came with a tomato sauce in the soup as well, good combo. For dinner I enjoyed a filet mignon topped with garlic butter, garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus, and added 3 scallops. The filet was cooked perfectly! Very tender and melted in my mouth. Scallops were cooked beautifully as well. Everything was seasoned to perfection. For dessert we enjoyed the chocolate lava cake topped with a raspberry ice cream and chocolate drizzle. The chocolate lava cake wasn't very lava-y however, that didn't ruin my experience. I was weary of the raspberry ice cream, as I usually don't get a fruity ice cream. But it was very pleasant, the raspberry wasn't overwhelming and complemented the chocolate cake. Highly recommend Francesca's always! And I'm excited for the summer when they open outdoor dining again. All in all, I enjoyed my time. But I must add this restaurant is priceyyy. But hey, you get what you pay for. read more

Francesca's is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the area! My husband and I stopped by here during a short weekend trip to Syracuse. It gets super busy here, especially on weekend nights. Even with a reservation, we waited around 15-20 mins for a table. For our meal, we got to try: - Complimentary bread with tomato sauce: Warm and yummy, a perfect starter - Fried calamari: Huge portion. I liked how it wasn't so bready, and the marinara dipping sauce was good - Wagyu beef ravioli: Sooo good. Very creamy and flavorful. I actually think it tastes better the next day after heating up. - Bolognese: Delicious! They do not skimp out on the meat - Butter cake: AMAZING! I was so full by the end of our dinner, but I had to get dessert. This cake is ooey gooey and just heavenly. Definitely not a light dessert. I love how they bring out the dessert tray. Our server was also friendly and moved fast. If you're looking to bring someone out on a date, bring them here. It's very romantic and cozy inside. Walking into the restaurant it was much more spacious than I had thought it was. We were greeted by the hostess quickly, but had a reservation ahead of time, which allowed us to be seated promptly. It was quite loud in the restaurant, but not unbearable. The waitress was very quick to approach my wife and I, which was great. After ordering, we quickly received our drinks and bread, which was amazing. I ordered the calamari, bolognese, and butter cake, all of which were very good. Calamari was great, but nothing stood out to me that set it apart from other calamari that I've had. Do not be tricked by the picture, the portion of the bolognese was massive. I love how the sauce was full of meat, which made it all the more worth it. If you stop by, you definitely have to grab the butter cake, so delicious, probably my favorite thing here. read more

While the food here is excellent, the service here is disappointing and I would rather support other restaurants in the area. When we arrived for our reservation the other night, the host did not welcome us or ask how she could help, and she rolled her eyes when we walked up to the stand. When she took us to our table, we asked for a high chair for our baby (noted in the reservation) and she said to ask the person who brought us water. As soon as we sat down, another party was seated and their host offered them a high chair right away. Another table was set for a large party and had a high chair waiting. We asked the other host if we could also get a high chair, but apparently they only had 2 and they were taken, even though we were the first party with a baby to be seated. On our previous visit to Francesca's, our experience wasn't so bad but it wasn't good either. Our server upsold us on sides without telling us they were an upgrade/extra cost. I also didn't like my cocktail (my own mistake, I did not complain about it) so I ordered a glass of wine. The waitress asked if I didn't like the cocktail, I told her I didn't, and she took it away. Although she took a full drink away, she didn't take it off our bill. I was bothered by this because someone else in our party may have wanted it. Extremely slow service and horribly rude manager who doesn't take accountability or seem to like interacting with customers. We arrived at 7:02pm for our 7pm reservation. We weren't seated until almost 7:30pm. We tried to order right away but our server asked us to wait. We ordered at 7:45pm. We didn't get our food until 9pm. We asked 2 times what was going on and didn't get an explanation. The manager came by and got extremely defensive, saying that the meal was timed according to plan and was really unpleasant to deal with. She shouldn't be in her line of work if she doesn't like talking with customers. We have been to Francesca's many times and will probably not return for awhile. I don't know what is going on. The food is still amazing, the patio is beautiful, but the service was one of the worst experiences we've had, ever, in a restaurant. And I almost never complain. Had a great birthday meal here last night. Service, food, and drinks were on point. All of us tried a season cocktail that we enjoyed. Burrata and stuffed hot peppers were a nice start to the meal. I got the daily halibut special with truffled carbonara risotto and broccolini. It was delicious! Not many places around here offer this and it's one of my favs. Finished off with their amazing butter cake which you should absolutely leave room for. RIDICULOUS! Our waiter couldn't care less about us it was truly an awful experience and not to mention this was on VALENTINES DAY! What a terrible way to celebrate. We didn't leave until 9:30, and that's just with getting an entree!! No dessert nothing!! So loud it was impossible to hear anything! I wouldn't recommend going it truly ruined my night. **DURING COOLER MONTHS ESPECIALLY - MAKE RESERVATION** Stopped here while in town for a convention. We usually do Italian on Saturday night, so this was one that Cuppies had found and relayed for consideration. I made a reservation for 8pm, and we headed there after the convention was over at 7. Street parking is available other than their small lot nestled in between the buildings. We found spots about two blocks down and walked up. Even with reservations you're going to wait a while for a table to open up - we were early and the bar area was slammed. The bar area is sand which between two dining rooms - and a back patio area as well. It's very loud being so busy - so expect to talk louder than usual. At about 8:15 we were sat in the back dining area and ordered some drinks and appetizers. I ordered a Four Roses old fashioned which was TURNED UP - I didn't look at the price but I got my money's worth without question. They also provided table focaccia bread and dipping sauce. We ordered several appetizers (heard ya): Goat cheese fritter: exactly how it sounds - pretty good - large chunk of cheese with crostini for dipping. I had one and decided that was good for me (4/5) Stuffed cherry peppers: Cuppies pick - I didn't have but the rest of the buds reported that they were good and had a decent kick to them (4/5) Meatballs: stuffed with cheese these came out pretty lukewarm in terms of temp. Of course the one I had didn't really have much of any cheese inside it. (3/5) Burrata: Large burrata lump on top of halved tomatoes with basil and balsamic; served with crostini. Very very very fresh and was probably one of my favorite burrata I've eaten (5/5). For my entree - I ordered the chicken parmesan which is my main go-to when it comes to Italian places. served on riggies (rigatoni) - it came with a LARGE piece of chicken. The sauce was a little odd to me - or possibly the cheese that gave it a sweet hint on some bites? But overall good. For dessert there were several options - and all desserts are made ***IN-HOUSE*** by a pastry chef. I went with the chocolate mouse pie - which was so incredibly good: creamy, rich and a large slice. Wow. Finished it off with a large cup of coffee and paid the bill. I wish I would have paid attention to our waitress' name - very nice and attentive: hair braided back and with a thick upstate-NY accent. She was great. Overall this place was solid. We made reservations for the dining room at 4:15 (they open at 4PM). We made the reservations 3 days out for a Saturday dinner and had to go with this time slot because any time later did not have dining room availability. We were promptly seated and our waitress Samantha (who was great) took our drink orders. I liked that there are several bottles on the menu from Italy that are DOC and DOCG. For starters, we ordered the fried calamari and fried goat cheese. The calamari was cooked perfectly, but it lacked flavor. The sauce it came with was good. Overall, it was decent and I'd get it again. The fried goat cheese was great. The sauce it came with had a spicy kick to it that I really enjoyed. I was torn between egg plant rollantini, gnocchi, and ravioli, so I asked Samantha what she recommends, and she flat out told me they're all good, but there isn't a lot going on with them. They are what they are and that's it, which is okay if that's what you want, but based on our conversation, she knew I wanted something really satisfying. Side note, their eggplant rollantini is cooked with the skin still on the egg plant. Anyway, I ordered the Gemelli Angeloro, at Samantha's recommendation and substituted the grilled chicken for a chicken cutlet. The dish is made up of twin pasta, utica greens, prosciutto, extra-virgin garlic olive oil, toasted breadcrumbs, romano cheese, splash of tomato ragu, and of course the fried chicken cutlet that I asked for. It was great and I thought the portion size was perfect. My husband had the Chicken MVP. It's a chicken parm with vodka sauce and a pesto drizzle and rigatoni in their vodka sauce. The sauce was a little too loose for my liking, but it had good taste and it was uniquely their own vodka sauce. Overall, a great dish and we can see why it's so popular. Finally, for desserts we had their famous butter cake, which comes with their homemade icecream and we had the chocolate mousse cake. The butter cake is out of bounds outrageous. It lived up to the hype and honestly, but didn't make me feel absolutely destroyed after eating, which is surprising because it must be about 3500 calories (it was a special occasion, don't judge). The chocolate mousse cake was decadent. I know that word gets thrown around a lot when describing chocolatey deserts, but this thing, it was rich. Like Warren Buffet rich. If you love chocolate, don't hesitate to get this, but make sure you try the butter cake that someone orders at your table. We also had cappuccinos, which I thought were great because she was heavy on the espresso and lighter on the foam. I had a great time. The dining room, while crowded, still managed to feel somewhat intimate. By the way, the outside patio is beautiful. Wonderful experience, and great food! My friend and I started off with the fried calamari, and the dipping sauce options were amazing. I opted for the Braised Beef Pappardelle Pasta special and my friend got the Seafood Riggies. Both were extremely flavorful and filling. We ended with the Chocolate Cake. Which was delicious. Used to be good, but they clearly have gone downhill. I'm surprised that their old reputation of being even semi decent even still stands... the management has no class. Not so secret to locals, but if you're in Syracuse for a business meeting and need a place to host, hit this place up: I was in this town for work and I took my local rep here per his suggestion. This was a great dining experience. Did the Calabrian ribs over polenta. Super tender. Great take on ribs. Wasn't like American BBQ, but very Calabrian as I would imagine. Tender, pull apart. Nice sauce. Over a great polenta. You don't live polenta, you've never had it down well like this. Main dish was filet gorgonzola. What can go wrong with a dish like this? The filet was nice and rare. Two filets both cooked to my liking nice and rare. The pasta was as good as you can make it. Extra lil bit of veg and panko in the dish. My friend who is a regular always gets the bolognese and that dish is consistent. We sat at the bar and phenomenal service. Drinks tended too, food rec's. Outside garden was poppin. Artwork on the walls and overall decor very Modern Syracuse. This city will be a food scene soon, a destination for foodies; whether that's good or bad- Come eat at Francesca's.
