Going to Joey's to me feels like entering a time capsule. It makes me think of so many lunch & dinners with family & friends especially from my childhood. The tables were clean & set when we arrived. The lighting was comfortable. The overall ambiance made it feel like a scene in an Italian restaurant. We've gone many times but this last experience was worth noting. We went for lunch because they do have lunch & dinner. I asked for lemon with my water & they brought out a generous amount. The toasted bread to share was still warm & toasted just right. I really loved the garlic butter that came with it. We ordered 2 meals to share so we could have a little bit of variety & both were cooked perfectly. First time eating hear. Definitely a less formal look than downstairs but food was great. Have been driving from eastern Ma. this way a few times this year and it's great to have a solid place to stop on the way. Looking for quick, quality takeout? Pronto Joey's is a great option. The more casual of the two Joey's restaurants, our takeout order was ready within 20 minutes. We ordered the stuffed shells with a meatball and the steak and greens sandwich. The stuffed shells came with quite a few slices of Italian bread and some garlic butter. The food and service were good and the ambiance was very nice too. Rachael, our waitress, was very attentive to our party.

My wife took me there for my retirement dinner. The food was good but it is now very pricey. I had chicken marsala and the pasta was extra. The busboy looked at out table several times and keep on walking. Our salad plated sat empty on our table for over 20 mins. We were never asked if we wanted another drink and had to ask to get a water glass filled. The night was not enjoyable at all. Over 2 hours and 45 mins for a dinner (no desert). The new restaurant is very loud. I wanted to say something to the manager but my wife wanted to keep the peace. I would have fired the busser. I worked in the food industry and how that place was run it will not last. Not good. read more

Went for my Wife's birthday it was horrible was seated for 15 minutes before we seen a waitress she was horrible extremely slow and ignored us multiple times. I called and ask them to sing or something for my wife's birthday they never did It was a very disappointing night and to top it off I received a text from them that I did not show up and my reservation was canceled. The Pronto version of the Syracuse Classic. I haven't been here for several years but the food remains unchanged. Good quality salad with your pasta entree. Basic but fresh. Warm bread with a seasoned butter a nice accompaniment. Full menu, my selection was baked rigatoni. Great portion, enough to not be able to finish, but a few bites left if your one of those folks with a massive appetite.No fake cheese here, this is fresh whole milk mozzarella baked to just the right level. Did not disappoint. Excellent meat ball as well. Be warned, the sauce is good, tart and fresh, heavy on the garlic to the extent you should plan on a Zantac an hour after, but it felt great going down. Here's the kicker, all this for $20 & change after Tax & before tip. Better tell Joey to charge more so he can fix those potholes in the lot but there's nothing but good quality here. read more

The food- was really good. Home made ravioli, mozzarella sticks and red sauce/gravy. Meatballs were soft and tasty as was, I'm told the chicken parmigiana. Upstairs casual was how we went. Stairs are either up or down which is for dressy atmosphere. No handicap access. Bathrooms were in back and unique in color and design, but, clean. Colorations of design on floor, lights and pictures were bright and of a Poppy upbeat choices. (see pix) Had leftovers put in containers. 1 container was leaking. Waitress changed it out and had taken both containers. Lost the second one and was planning to give a new fresh order. Shortly after she came back with the second container -without the cover. I will start this as I always do by saying that I don't give out five stars unless I am really blown away. I eat here often for lunch. This is one of the best places around to get lunch. Best to get a reservation as it can fill up in a hurry. The food here is top notch and the portions are grande. I have never had a bad meal and doubt I ever will. Just starting with the bread and butter. The bread is so good I could fill up on that and the butter. Then comes appetizers I have tried a bunch but I like the Utica greens best. They have some real kick and that gets me every time. If you skip the shareable but want something before you meal get a bowl of the greens and beans. I could probably just do a bowl of that and the bread and be full but really I am here to eat to my heart's content so let's go! Hit that lunch entree button and away we go. If you like Italian come on in an put your bib on this place is your jam. The chicken parm will fill you up and then make you take a nap. Tell your boss what you had for lunch and they will be fine with you taking a nap at your desk. The ravioli's are so good that you should get a second order of them so you can have it for dinner too. If you need something lighter get the steak salad but get the dressing on the side so can control the amount. Otherwise (this is my only complaint) you may end up with tasting only dressing and missing out on the real flavors in the salad. If you get any sandwich or burger you will be very satisfied. The chicken parm sandwich is killer as well as the Philly. If you have not been here then you are missing out. Go now and have a great lunch. read more

BIGGEST RAVIOLI EVER! I absolutely loved the homemade ravioli at Pronto Joey's. I haven't been there in a little while but the ravioli is huge now! As Joey's is one of my favorite places for ravioli, I was very happy! They really take "Go big or go home" to heart. I really enjoyed the meal we had. The table got some toast with delicious garlic butter and salads came with most of our meals. The service was great! I'm always glad to go here for some fresh pasta and I can't wait to return again! The Italian platter had lasagna, 1 stuffed shell some eggplant parm that was undercooked a meatball and sausage. Everything was just ok. Also ordered fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The menu is not that great with limited steak options. We ordered the calamari steak, strip steak and chicken rigs. Let's start off with the calamari, not sure if there frying oil needs to be cleaned and changed. This calamari steak was horribly seasoned and was lying in a puddle of nasty oil/grease. Who wants soggy breaded calamari. Now for the steak... not much to say other than don't get it. Not cooked to request and no taste, very underwhelming flavor, actually not sure the flavor. The chicken rigs was probably the best of the food, but by all means not impressed. Once again very underwhelming flavor. The chicken itself was cooked ok, but where are the peppers ( I requested the rigs hot) and very little sauce. I would only recommend this place if you are in a crunch and driving by. Fantastic Italian restaurant in Syracuse. I got their Eggplant Parmesan with a meatball and sausage. The sauce was delicious! It comes with a side salad. The parm peppercorn dressing is also delicious. My grandson got manicotti which he declared it was the best he's had. He got soup that tasted like a stuffed pepper soup. So good. We have loved Pronto Joey's in the past (literally decades!) but our visit last week was a serious disappointment. The service was almost nonexistent, we had to ask for bread (which came out cold and not enough butter for the table), sodas were served warm with little to no ice, and the salads were limp and somewhat brown. Three of us ordered -- lasagna, the Italian Platter, and Manicotti. My manicotti was missing red sauce but was sitting in a pool of liquid (water?), the lasagna was either the thinnest/shortest lasagna ever made or it fell apart before arriving at the table and the waitress just didn't care, and the Italian Platter was just so-so according to our friend who had not been in the restaurant for more than a decade (and probably won't be back). Even though our food was disappointing, the service was the real kicker. When the waitress finally came to the table, she was in such a rush that we couldn't ask her anything. She spent quite a bit of time at the table across from us who had a baby that she was extremely interested in. The restaurant was somewhat busy but there seemed to be plenty of staff on so we don't think it was a staffing issue. read more

Let my start by saying I really like pronto Joey's. it's Upstairs on the building and downstairs is a more upscale Italian restaurant. Pronto Joey's is a little more casual and probably a little more price conscious. There were eight of us and we got a table easily and they agreed to do a few separate checks for us which makes things easier when we were paying. The service was very friendly and efficient even when my husband accidentally knocked over his glass of water. They were right there with humor and attention. They have a Lotta great choices on the menu from beef to seafood and of course the Italian which is quite wonderful. I ordered the Italian platter which was lasagna. eggplant, stuffed shells, meatballs and Italian sausage. It was delicious but I couldn't even come close to finishing. My wife and I tried to go to one of our favorite seafood places the Clam Bar, but it was not going to happen in a Friday night, one hour wait. So we decide in Joey's restaurant. We've been downstairs and had a horrible experience. Reservation for 6:30p and was seated at 8p. That is unacceptable. So we went to the top part which is pronto Joeys. We were seated quickly and the waitress came promptly to get our order. Bread came hot and soft, salads were good too. I ordered the Lasagna and my wife the broiled scallops. Truth be told I love their London broil but they took it off the menu. The waitress was just an OK waitress. Seemed overwhelmed. Then food came. The lasagna was excellent. Very tasty and the sauce was mouth watering. But the scallops were small, dry and not appealing. The vegetables tasted bad. I guess the moral to that is don't order seafood at an Italian restaurant. There was enough lasagna for 2 meals so my wife had some of that. I was appalled that the waitress did not remove the scallops. She did ask my wife if she wanted something else but it was too late and like I said I shared. We then went for desert. She told us everything g was baked fresh there. I guess I forgot to ask if was daily. The turtle cheesecake was hard and tasted like it was frozen and thawed. I was not impressed. All in all we have been coming here for years and I inquired and the same family owns it. Maybe it's been passed down to kids. That usually is what happens and customer experience is last over the buck with this generation. I'd come back for the lasagna! Oh and yes good parking and nice family atmosphere. read more

My mother, brother and I met for dinner after work on a Tuesday evening. We had a wonderful time all thanks to the sweetest server, Jeanne. We enjoyed the fried calamari as an app. My brother had the Chicken Alfredo and my mother had the Eggplant Parm. All were great portions and included a salad and huge loaf of bread. They were also served with perfectly cooked pasta - yum! I chose the Chicken Francais which was lightly fried and tarte, just how I like it. What a unique restaurant! The top floor provides a casual atmosphere for lunch/dinner crowds. The bottom floor provides a fine dining experience with a bar scene like no other. This gives you the option to enjoy the same food but in two different atmospheres! That's a cool idea. I tried the Utica Greens and the chicken parm with meatballs (had to try them). I have to say, the chicken parm was great! It was so filling too! HUGEEEE like Fucillo. Meatballs were 4/5. It is during the week I'm down here from NY for work. Asked for take out small 12" pizza topped with ground beef along with a side of minestrone' soup. Soup was great pizza was ok not real hot but it was takeout. It was due to the pizza came out first and I had to wait for the soup. Everything was priced right. Fortunately, for Joey's YELP doesn't give half-stars. This place is a 3.5, but better than a three, so by default it gets a 4. I've only been here once and did so because the other Italian place in town was closed for lunch so I decided to give Joey's a try. This place has a very laid back atmosphere and reasonable prices coupled with large portions. I small antipasto was huge and tasted great. The chicken parm had enough for two people. I actually brought half of it home to by buddy and it was enough for both of us to be full. Their sauce tasted great and the chicken was good (no where near as soon as Santangelos, which I ate that night, however). I still think anyone coming here would be thrilled with their meal and the value that comes with it. It might not be the world's best food, but it makes places like the Olive Garden look terrible, well, which they are. Joey's is good and belongs on the to-visit list. read more

Met my family yesterday for lunch in Syracuse, place is nice and convenient to the thruway, was quiet for a Saturday. Restaurant is nicely decorated, clean, server was nice, and attentive, and food seemed fair priced, a good value for what you get. In our party of 5 every one ordered something different and it seemed the general consensus was the food was just ok. Nothing bad, but nothing really good. I had a cheeseburger with chips and it was fine, but chips were from a bag and the burger really had no taste, was kind of weird that it was so bland, not what I expected. Will go back if in area, but will try to find something with a little more flavor. So if traveling through, give it a try, it's an ok place. read more

Stopped here for lunch the other day on the recommendation of a local. My father and I were seated quickly. There were lots of tasty looking items on the menu but I settled on the Meatball Sub and Dad chose the Chicken Parm dinner. I got a Salad as my side and it came out first. It was a large salad with mixed greens, carrot sticks, a couple tomatoes and an olive. There was plenty of greens but the rest of the toppings were. . . limited. Our food came out fairly quickly and my sandwich was huge. 4-5 large meatballs sandwiched between two pieces of toasted french bread covered with marinara and cheese. Chips also came along with the sandwich (which I think was a mistake because I got the salad as my side). The meatballs were juicy and had plenty of taste. The bread was the perfect compliment because it held up to the toppings and didn't get too soggy. Dad enjoyed his Chicken Parm. It came with a side of spaghetti and it looked like there was a lot of food on the plate. The service was fine. Started out gruff but I think the server warmed up to us a bit after awhile. The interior was interesting. Kinda looked like it was straight out of a late 80's pop music video with bright colored shapes all over the place. Overall, lunch was good. Came here for a quick dinner with a coworker while in town on business. The waitress was friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed. We decided to go upstairs rather than to the more swanky downstairs restaurant. I'll have to go there next time just for the experience. The bread and butter were fantastic as was the salad that came out before I meal. The food came out very quickly and I decided to give the Italian platter a try. It was so good but let me tell you it's a lot of food. I took more than half of it home. The waitress was nice to wrap it up tightly along with the leftover bread and butter. My coworker got the manicotti and ate every bite. She's been here quite a few times and assured me that everything is delicious. I believe her!
