We visited Strada Mia for a special New Year's Eve dinner, and we had an outstanding experience. They had delightful seasonal cocktails - we tried the spiked hot chocolate and the Christmas Margarita. The food was delicious, and so much to choose from! We had the Arancini balls to start, and they were delicious. We both tried the soups, and I adored the micro grilled cheese that topped the tomato bisque - SUCH a cute garnish! We recommend you get your steak "Jimmy style" because WOW, there is soooo much flavor! The shrimp scampi was also excellent. The large portions gave us some good leftovers. We had to finish with cannolis to-go, and we were so happy we did. Our server was very attentive, even as the place was filling up on a holiday evening! When we left, we said, "That was weird." We booked a reservation for a graduation dinner where we were sat upstairs alone for a while. At the beginning, service was prompt. Our apps of meatballs and calamari were good but when we got our red wine, it was freezing. Then we were waiting for at least a half an hour for our food. My sister was starting to worry about getting to her graduation despite us booking 2 hours ahead of her ceremony. When we received our food, all meals came except mine which was about 10 mins after everyone else. The best meals were the Chicken Riggies & Chicken Milanese. The Chicken Piccata was very heavy of Dijon and the Chicken Marsala tasted like Chicken Teriyaki; needless to say, neither dish tasted like its traditional description. Lastly, the Clam Provencal was void of flavor. Half of our party left as soon as I got my food and we paid the check so we weren't late to the ceremony, but then the rest of our party was asked to leave for another group. This place must have really been something special at one point but food was mediocre this visit. Place needs a deep clean. Best part of meal was bread and dipping oil ( which was outstanding) Entrees were decent leaning toward lackluster. Chicken riggies, chicken parm, salmon. Menu is smaller than what is posted on line. Was there during SU grad weekend and it's possible the place was just really busy and kitchen on overload. If you are here for an SU event it's got good off street parking. It's always nice to eat locally. It's even nicer to eat locally with someone you care about. Honoring the tradition of Lent we went to Strada tonight for a fish dinner. Tonight's entrée was haddock. Your basic syracuse go to fish for Lent. The dinner brings a very good sized fried haddock fish. It's flaky, not overly battered and not at all greasy. About as good as you can get for fried haddock. The sides include coleslaw and seasoned french fries. You get a bunch of delicious seasoned french fries but a very small portion of coleslaw. The coleslaw was on the better tasty side. Not too tangy, not bland. The downside is you only get about four forks full. Rather disappointing based on the balance of things and the cost of the dinner. read more

Orders included an appetizer/steak order/fish & pasta orders. Charcuterie board was particularly underwhelming - pathetic in appearance and overpriced for what was served. The filet that was ordered was significantly overcooked despite being requested otherwise - medium doneness. To me appeared to be cooked then reheated. Totally not medium, no red in steak and dry. Other orders was okay at best and did not meet expectations. Service could be improved. Ambiance was acceptable. As this was my first visit, I was hoping for a better impression. Took my wife here for dinner for our anniversary last night. Hostess was friendly and seated us immediately. I could tell that the waiter was new, but he was friendly and attentive. He was a little unsure about some of the menu items, but offered to go find answers for us. The service was not the problem. Things even started out good. We ordered the calamari appetizer. It was well prepared and I appreciated the bit of heat in the breading. I also appreciated that each of us got our favorite dipping sauce: cocktail sauce for me and marinara for my wife. Then things went bad. I ordered Lemon Basil Shrimp (shrimp over lemon basil risotto). The shrimp had no flavor or any king of seasoning and the risotto was so overcooked as to be a blob of mush on the plate. I could tell as soon as I saw the plate because it looked lumpy and unappetizing. Taste matched the looks. My wife ordered Chicken Francaise. What she got was butter soup with some noodles and a chicken breast. Hers was better than mine, but still not something I would pay $30 for. I didn't send anything back because I worked for decades in restaurants when I was younger and learned not to. In all, friendly service and a good appetizer. Bad entrees. read more

I ate in house once and thought the food was ok. Got takeout- got the pesto tortellini- so so salty. The bread was descent but garlic bread isn't novel. We ordered one meatball to try one. Our reservations were at 7:30, it is now 8:47, and we haven't gotten our entrees yet. Are they short handed? We don't know. On Uber arrival a pedestrian in a substance abuse "walk" strode past a fenced contained outdoor seating area filled with families. Straightforward Italian out of a kitchen preparation you might have expected from your childhood friends grandma. The charcuterie plate is a bargain. The drunken clams beg for more bread to get to the garlicky broth. The scampi's, lasagna and pastas meet your minds eye. The reasonably marked up wines range from bottom of the shelf Italian varietals to a surprising Stags Leap at $95. We ate here Saturday night of graduation weekend. We should have known it was going to be aweful when they were out of water and sodas glasses at 7:30pm. The appetizers came out quickly and then the main courses took 2 hours to come out. The chickens Parm was aweful the Filet Mignon was good. 2 hours later they told us they didn't have penne so they didn't bring out one entree with the others. The place really wasn't very busy yet they claimed they were slammed. What did they expect for graduation weekend? This place is definitely a hidden gem. When I walked in, it already exceeded my expectations. We made reservations for Valentine's Day, it wasn't packed or noisey which we appreciated. Overall, dinner was good but not great for our almost $200 bill. We asked for a medium rare steak with blue cheese on the side because only one of us prefers it. The steak came out medium well with blue cheese smothered. The steak was dry which was sad. However, the apps were great. We got calamari and a scallop special. This restaurant was struggling. Our food took over 90 minutes to come out (after ordering) with literally salads and one pasta dish. They were out of many ingredients, changed pastas in the dish without notification. After asking for a manager, we never saw one. We hardly saw a server and finally got our food to go. I think this place needs a break and a minute to reset. The servers were kind but very stressed, and like I said no managers to be seen. The menu was good and promising, but since we got it to go, so haven't tasted it. The valet/lot attendant was awesome & helpful. Drinks were good -- but we had to order them on a table app because we didn't see a real server for several minutes after being sat. Had dinner there this past Saturday with 4 other people. Three of us had prime rib was perfect med rare and fork tender. Two of us had scallops as an extra for surf and turf. Scallops were fresh and perfectly prepared. One in our party had the salmon fresh and prepared perfectly. The fifth had fried haddock and he enjoyed it. Had a great experience here with Stephanie as our waitress! We came during Syracuse University parents weekend so it was very busy. There were a few hiccups but they went above and beyond to make it right! They took our appetizer off the bill and gave us complimentary dessert (chocolate chip lava cake - amazing!). Food was really good - started with the mozzarella stack and had linguine with clams (yum), eggplant parm appetizer (huge and def big enough as a meal), and filet mignon. Good food and excellent service by Shawna made this a wonderful experience. I was worried about parking my car in the lot because after all, this is not a great neighborhood, but my worries were allayed when I realized that there is an attendant in the lot who oversees the lot as well as opens the door for you, allowing you to enter the pick up door in the rear of the restaurant on cold nights. He was lovely as well. I started with a Caesar salad that was ginormous. I could've ordered the small, but wound up taking half of the Caesar salad home with me, which is something I rarely do. I ordered the shrimp scampi and substituted angel hair spaghetti with linguine, and it was just the right amount of everything. The sauce was well-balanced, but the shrimp were on the small side. The chef had removed the tails, making them easier to eat, which was nice. It's so messy to try to remove tails,l in a brothy type sauce, because then they splash all over you. Crisis averted. My husband ordered the eggplant parmigiana,, which was a heaping serving served over a mound of linguine. He loved it but after eating a large Cesar took half of the main dish home. My dinner mates had the chicken Riggies and the carbonara, and both were excellent. All but me had dessert. One had the five miniature cannolis with whipped cream in between, and boy were they looking good. The cheesecake which I took a teaspoon full of was wonderful. This is a wonderful place for a romantic dinner, a celebration or just a night out. There is space for large parties and it's a very elegant place. Started with waiting for our waitress for over 15 min after we were seated. Once she took our drink order we had to go to the bar to actually pick up our drinks ourselves because she disappeared. We ordered food and asked for our Salads to come as the appetizers and instead the dinner and salads showed up at the same time. Finally, Food was mediocre at best. Could not be more disappointed. Unfortunately, I rarely try a new spot and say that I'd go back. But I do think I would return here. They start youwith bread and dipping oil. The dipping oil had good flavor - garlic, herbs, Cheese. I didn't have salad but someone else did and it was a good size and looked good. Note it is made with iceberg lettuce. We started with calamari and it was the best I'd had in some time. Not greasy and a good size serving for 4 of us. In laws had pasta bolognese and chicken broccoli Alfredo. Both servings were a good size and had a fair amount of the meat, veggie. My Husband and I had filet mignon. They were tender and had good flavor. Only minor complaint is that mine was a bit salty. The sides were a good serving of garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed green beans. The service was great. Overall, a good experience and I'd return. read more

Attended a business meeting here on the second floor, very cool restaurant that I had no idea was even here because it's a little off the beaten track (for me at least), in an interesting neighborhood for such an upscale place. The location definitely beats downtown in that there is plenty of parking there. Decor was very cool, love the mural/sculpture of wine bottles. We had Moscow mules to start which were mixed perfectly and all the mixed drinks seemed reasonably priced. Food was spot on, I had haddock Florentine my friend had steak, both were perfect. What?! She came back and said we are good so I ordered that. Veal picaata was good but I really didn't think it was worth $30 almost. When the dessert menu came, we were also told there isn't tiramisu. Oh my gosh, what do you guys have then?! We ordered take out from here and it was impressive. I would like to get the dining experience one day. The Utica greens were quite good, although I wish there was more bacon in there. Had lunch here today on a whim and I really enjoyed our visit. We decided to sit at the bar table and were greeted immediately by the bartender. The restaurant was very quiet but that's to be expected right after a holiday. The lunch menu itself is larger than I would have expected with some really awesome choices. Our waitress was very attentive and very personable. She had great suggestions and personal faves and, our table all ordered the tomato soup which was so tasty! My meal was the caprese panini- I liked it but, it seemed to be lacking something. I will say the fries that were served with the sandwich had the most wonderful seasoning on them, I kinda wish I ordered more. Our server's name was Stephanie and it took her 20 minutes from the time that we sat down until she finally came over and introduced herself. It took her another 20 minutes just to bring us our drinks and take our food order. When our food came out it was room temperature. We didn't even want to stay for dessert because we were afraid of how long it would take for it to come out. We are still currently at the restaurant and we asked for our check over 20 minutes ago. Omg.. yum! My husband and I went here for our anniversary and we could not have been happier. My husband ordered a red wine that was 8.00/glass. I had draft beer at 7.00/glass. They had a variety of beer and wine to chose from and the prices were typical of the area. Fresh Italian bread and oil garlic herb dipping was at the table. Yum.. loved it. My husband tried the soup special -steak and potato, he said it was amazing. For dinner he had the veal Saltimbocca with mushrooms and Madeira wine sauce served with your choice of pasta. It was very tasty and a good portion for 24.00. I had the sesame tuna that was amazing. It was two big portions of tuna steak that was crusted with sesame seeds and lightly fried to crisp the outside. It was served with a pineapple glaze and kale, broccoli slaw that brought a hint of sweet and spicy to the dish. The whole dish was light and flavorful. That was 27.00. My husband tried my dish 3 times and said he was going to recommend the place about 3 times.. I liked the renovations they did to the place since it was gentiles. I'm hard to impress when it comes to Italian food, especially outside the NY metropolitan area. I find it slightly pretentious when people drop their ethnicity or where they're from in the preface of a review but... I am Italian American, and I am from the Bronx - so I think I know what I'm talking about. ;-) My friends had their rehearsal dinner at Strada Mia - so after a run through at the church I made my way over here afterwards. Judging from other reviews I skimmed through, apparently this is in a bad neighborhood? I didn't really feel it - but I guess perception is everything. There were two men (bouncers/security guards) posted at the door who greeted me upon entry before I headed upstairs. The room we were in was semi-compartmentalized - there were three sections that flowed nicely but could easily have been split up into three separate rooms. Aesthetics were okay - nothing too interesting but clean and streamlined overall; the thing that most stood out was a large wall mural near the steps that had a number of wine bottles sticking out of it. We had buffet-style dinner. The spread included salad, chicken francese, penne vodka, and green beans. The chicken was good - nice seasoning and just the right amount of thickness. The beans were well seasoned, bright green, and crispy. The penne left something to be desired - it lacked flavor and was too saucy. Service was good and all the staff I interacted with were friendly. While it's hard to compare Strada Mia to Italian restaurants I'm used to going to - they put out a solid offering. read more
