The atmosphere was nice, but there was a sort of smell that my group kept mentioning when we were sitting in the bar area that threw us off a little. Not sure if it was a scented candle or something else. The normal bartender was not there, but the one behind the bar was entertaining enough. Even if the drinks came out a little bit slow. Our waitress is awesome. Very on top of things. The cornbread was awesome. Would come back here just to eat the cornbread. Same goes for the fried green tomatoes something I wish I could have all your round they were banging. My better half that chicken was good. Nothing to write home about. My salmon was cooked perfectly but the sauce that was on it probably could've done without. The sauce was a little bland with chunks of shrimp and scallop on it. But the same being cooked perfectly didn't need that extra moisture from that sauce on it could've just been seasoned. I would've been thrilled. Just my opinion. I'm not sure I will run back and frequent this location, but I would come back if somebody else had the suggestion. Met the owner and she was wonderful. She may want to come back just to see her again.

I was a bit disappointed in the bread which did not seem to be sourdough or toasted and roasted red peppers that were small shreds. The taste was overall ok but larger pieces of red peppers and more lettuce would have helped a lot. My spouse is gluten free and we were pleased they had gf buns on their menu for an additional cost. He and our kids really enjoyed their dinners. Their kids meals were reasonably priced and our 5 year old completely devoured a cheeseburger (normally she eats mostly fries) but the fries were good too!!

They also have excellent mashed potatoes. The salad bar is a huge bonus. Good way to make sure you get some vegetables in a city not known for healthy food. Most recently, I had a buffalo chicken wrap. It was spicier than I expected. A little too hot for me. Luckily I had the mashed potatoes to balance it out. Service consistently above average. If I would criticize anything, it's that the dining room feels worn. Years ago, this place was a fine dining establishment before it shifted into a tavern concept. It's like the interior hasn't been updated since then, so it feels like a worn fine dining room. But I'm reluctant to mark it down for that. It's clean and it's advertised as a tavern. That's good enough for me.

All of our dishes were served in a timely manner, were piping hot, flavorful, and interesting! I never order carbonara because it's so hard to get it right, but the chef's version was perfection. I was OK with the dish being less rich and egg-yolk forward, instead, the pasta was cooked to perfection in the lighter sauce covered all the noodles. The addition of the vegetables was a bonus. Although we were quite full, we shared the Tres Leche cake for dessert and again I was pleasantly surprised by the seasonal pumpkin spice added to the milk sauce. Fearing that they might be super hot, they were not. They were just super good. Both meals came with the choice of soup or salad. Both of us chose salad. The salad was fresh and very large. The only mess up on the evening was the haddock. It tasted fairly dry and almost "overcooked". A couple of drinks may or may not have been enjoyed.

I will also say that more places should start bringing our young kids entrees before the adults. It can be very tough for a toddler to patiently wait 30 minutes for their food. Once we got our food, I will say everything was quite delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and had excellent flavor. Portion sizes were also great. I did find an unmashed chunk in my whipped potatoes, but the taste made up for that. The kids mac and cheese was also delicious and the portion was huge!
