The food here was phenomenal. Loved the brunch burger and could barely finish even half of it. The leftovers were just as good! The server was really nice, fun and just overall cheery which was infectious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only downside I had was we were seated next to a window and it was absolutely freezing by it (9 degrees out when we went.)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That said we will be back and I cant wait to try other parts of the menu.

I really appreciate the frequent updates to the menu/specials to include unique offerings that include some featured locally produced foods and seasonal choices. The concepts behind the menu design include good flavor profile combinations that feature simple farmhouse ideas that are elevated with interesting twists, such as pot roast with campfire coffee gravy. It is nice to find test that still make things like condiments or pickles in-house.

I've heard so much about this place and had a great experience going there for lunch during the week. We were seated immediately, though the restaurant was quite full and is quite small. The staff is very friendly making you feel welcome. They had a board listing specials for the day and a large menu of gourmet style food. There was also a caveat on the menu that said as long as they had the ingredients they can make you just about anything you requested. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap with fries. I selected grilled chicken though they also offered fried. They wrapped it perfectly, and there was no dressing dripping out of the wrap as so often happens. The fries were crispy and lightly salted. Everything was perfect. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bathroom was clean and welcoming despite this diner having a pretty rapid turnover.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated near the window and were able to watch someone in a glider fly over the lake.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Would definitely recommend and return.

Food and Service beyond exceptional. Have eaten there several times... always on point!

Fantastic food and really nice server. We got the spinach and ricotta scramble, a special menu item I can't remember, plus a 'side' of waffles and a side of corned beef hash. Great portions too! Will go back ASAP!

I visited their food truck Redneck Reuben Union at Great Northern Food truck takeover. Very short line and friendly staff. I had heard a lot of hype about an over the top Reuben from this establishment. Not sure which sandwich that was. I ended up ordering a Reuben and a corn beef sandwich. After a short wait both came out hot of the griddle. The Reuben a perfect blend of salty, sour, and rich, a true classic. Though the corned beef was hot and fresh as well just not to my liking, though I shared and it was happily consumed. The Reuben definitely rival some of the Irish local pubs. I'm not sure which sandwich on the menu was the hyped up version. Maybe the Reubano? I didn't come across it this visit, maybe next time. $31.50 for the too sandwiches. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the logo on the food truck! Redneck Reuben Union, so fun![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Went here for lunch with my friend and had a great lunch. We ordered a chicken sandwich and a burger with an egg on it. Food came out really great. Really enjoyed the flavor. Service was great and energy was a smaller hometown cafe. Would definitely go back when I'm in town again to try dinner.

Since the updated menu dropped, I've been anxious to try the baklava Johnny cakes. Today was the day! We made a reservation earlier in the week and our table was waiting for us (my mom and I) when we arrived a bit early. Everything was fantastic! The eggs with the hash were cooked perfectly. The baklava Johnny cakes are something unique and they are executed very well. At some point, I'd love to try dinner here.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Warm and inviting atmosphere where everyone is like family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Greeted as soon as we walk in the door with a big smile and a promise to be right with us which they were. We both chose the chicken and waffles which has a perfect blend of salt sweet and crunchy chicken with two eggs however you like them, home fries crispy fresh potatoes pieces and syrup to I'll the crevices of the waffles so very good and leftovers too!

5 Stars - A Hidden Gem with Amazing Breakfast! Brewer Union Café is an absolute gem! We stopped in for breakfast and were completely blown away. I ordered the Baklava Corn Cakes, and WOW--easily one of the best things I've ever eaten. Perfectly sweet, nutty, and indulgent without being too heavy. I'll be dreaming about them for a long time! We also got the Cat Head Biscuit, but we were so full from our meals that we had to save it for later--can't wait to enjoy it as an afternoon treat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The portions are generous, the flavors are incredible, service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere was so fun making it a place we'll definitely be coming back to.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definite want to try some lunch and dinner options! If you're in the Brewerton area, do yourself a favor and check this place out. You won't regret it!

Best, breakfast, around. Imo opinion, their food is wonderful. Service and staff are polite and fast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is very cozy, like a small little ma and pa shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Home cooked food with an exciting menu. Lots of options to choose from making it hard to pick. I got the avocado toast and this was light and not too filling but perfect for a light breakfast. We shared the biscuit which was large and we had some to even take home, definitely enough for two people. My husband got one of the breakfast burgers and the Cajun fries and he really liked that. Service was great and everyone was friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Small place but was not to busy when we went on a weekend.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Went back for another breakfast and ordered the hash entree with eggs. Swapped out breakfast potatoes for cat head biscuit. The hash - phenomenonal. Brought half of it home - covered the plate! The biscuit was huge, but dry and hard. Probably good as a foundation for sausage gravy, but not on its own. Next trip is for dinner. The menu looks fantastic!

When first went here food was great. Last few times has gone downhill. Food overpriced serving with throw away utensils. Done.

Ask the Community - Brewer Union Cafe

The menu says "ask about our gluten free options" but the menu doesn't describe anything like "GF bun" or "GF noodles" or adding a GF next to the name to show it's without gluten, etc., which would be very easy to include, so what are the GF options?

Hello! We have GF options for everything besides the cathead biscuit (we can have them available if you call a couple days prior) and the Cinnamon buns. Everything else on the menu is either gf or has the option to be gf. We even have a gf dessert…

We came in on a Friday morning as a group of 5. It was around 10:30 and the place was almost full…read more We could see how popular this place is. It continued to fill during our stay. The wait staff have been working here for years. We were promptly seated, given our menus, and water and beverages served right away. The menu is fulsome but not overly extensive - to my daughter's chagrin, no eggs Benedict on offer. It's your typical diner fare with eggs/omelettes, pancakes, waffles, French toast, biscuits with sausage gravy, and sandwiches. There is a separate lunch menu that begins at 11:00a.m. which we did not look at. Breakfast continues to be served all day. I went with a French toast slam, with sunny side eggs, order of wheat toast, and link sausages. The choices of bread included rye and possibly sour dough. Some of the breads are upgrades with an additional small charge. The French toast comes with a side of cream cheese. It was nicely cooked and distinctly cinnamony. My eggs were just barely fully cooked and not slimy. The sausage was typical. My daughter had a Philly cheesesteak which included green pepper and was really nice and hot, although the steak didn't taste as robust as she'd hoped. My husband went with a typical breakfast plate. He enjoyed most of it, but left most of the home fries. The decor is country style as opposed to 50's style chrome and leather. You can choose from booths or tables. There are plenty of amusing signs to read, like, if you don't like the coffee, leave (not verbatim, I can't remember the correct wording). There's only one bathroom for one person at a time for each gender, so the wait can be awhile. It is very roomy and clean. The prices are super reasonable and the staff are fantastic. For 5 full breakfasts and refillable coffees all around, it came out to just over $62. I can see why this place is so popular. I'm betting we'll be returning next time we come down for another visit.

Food A+ Service A+…read moreAmbiance A Ok, first time visit on a late Saturday morning. Parking was plenty with a handicap entrance ramp in the back. First impression: typical diner look, a little rundown, but honestly makes you feel very comfortable. Very home-like feeling. Then came the service, then came the food. Not much to say about both other than outstanding. We had the waffles, cheese and mushroom omelette with hashbrowns and plenty of toast and bottomless coffee. Portions were huge, you won't go home hungry. Our coffee cup was never empty and we were checked on routinely to make sure everything's OK. Floor manager and the service folks were exemplary and very polite and friendly. Four stars out of a possible five but not because of the food or service When we go back for another visit, and we certainly will, if we have the same experience, I'll upgrade this to a solid five. Real nice bunch of folks at the R Diner and the food is even better. We'll be back

Chef Miguel Lockhart grew up in NYC cooking soul food and going to Katz Deli with family. He became…read morean executive chef as an adult, and when he moved to CNY and decided he would open a restaurant, he wanted to provide something that CNY was scarce on - soul food and fresh, home made pastrami. Lockhart opened Harts Cafe & Deli in the ALDI shopping plaza on 31 in Cicero, with a menu consisting of sandwiches where he makes ALL the meats himself including pastrami, corned beef and pulled smoked chicken. He has a breakfast menu with platters, sandwiches, pancakes & waffles, offers different coffee options, fish fry Fridays, and Soul Food Saturdays. I went into Harts today after reading a good review about them, and I work pretty close. I LOVE pastrami, and it is not easy to find home made pastrami in the area, so I was immediately interested. Chef Miguel gave me a whole run down of what he offered, told me how everything is fresh made from the pastrami to his whole grain mustard, so I ordered a half pastrami sandwich with a side of his seasoned fries. He also has one of those machines that squeezes fresh orange juice, something I've only seen in one other restaurant here, and I love fresh orange juice, so I ordered once of those as well. He went back and made it immediately. My sandwich was fresh and hot, with thick slices of delicious pastrami on a roll with his home made tangy musatard, leaf lettuce and tomato. The HUGE pile of fries were seasoned well, and I can't place what the seasoning reminds me of, but it's different than any other fries I've had here and they taste great. A half sandwich, large side of fries and fresh squeeze juice cost me about $20. Chef Miguel was extremely friendly, and has a lot of stuff on the menu I want to try, cause I'll definitely be going back.
