This was our first time in Syracuse so we didn't have an idea of where to eat. After a while googling breakfast spots we landed on Across the Hall Cafe- looked good online, why not! Immediately when we got inside we commented on how cozy and old school the cafe felt. The guy working the counter was very friendly and attentive, like we were old friends. There was a great variety of options on the menu and everything was very reasonably priced (rare these days)! I got the early bird special and my wife got a hot honey ham sandwich. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and felt satisfied after. A girl behind the counter also made a cute "fluff ghost" latte which impressed my wife. Over all the staff were super chill/genuine and the food was great. 5/5 zero complaints. If we're ever back in town we'll come again! read more

I've been meaning to stop here for a long time and was so glad I did! Very friendly service in a casual setting. We ordered smash burgers with a side of seasoned fries and a side of loaded tots. Our food was ready quickly. The burgers were outstanding and the quality of the beef was evident. The tots were delicious, but I could pass on the seasoned fries next time. Garden Veggies and Egg Hoagie with Tots! Grab a menu, get a seat if you're dining in and order at the counter. Hot, well cooked food and the tots are so crispy... perfection. Soda and water available in the cooler. Three specials a day and they are open for breakfast and lunch. The owner is so friendly and accommodating and I found out today it's all family run. Super cute place!! Came here for the first time this morning for breakfast, we were greeted instantly and the employee was super helpful and patient as we made our orders. The food is fresh, tasty, hot and decently priced. I got the breakfast special of sausage , egg and cheese on a plain bagel and it was huge! It comes with the best tots I've had in a long time. Hubby loved his btle sandwich and tots also! The building is super cute and unique. I highly recommend stopping in for some good food. read more

Solid lunch and breakfast spot with friendly helpful staff and good food. Never had a bad meal there, love the gotti & the tater tots - but recently they added dirty sodas to the menu. Don't leave without dessert! Went this morning for breakfast with the folks. Had the Broadway Breakfast Burrito which was huge and came with tots, delicious! Parents both had the veggie omelette, which was loaded with veggies and flavor. As we were getting ready to leave I spied the 3 First Place Dessert awards humbly displayed behind the counter and had to ask about award winning dessert. I normally would not take the time to make a Yelp review. Highly recommend. My gf and I are avid breakfast/diner eaters, and this one is our favorite in Syracuse. (We've tried many in town). Definitely a diner, so don't expect super fancy accommodations; but the food is amazing. We have lived everywhere from TX, OK, CO, CA, and now NY and this is the best Chicken and Waffles I've ever had. Just today my gf had a Hot Honey Breakfast Sandwich and it is now her favorite of all the places we've been in the US. They also have gluten free options. read more

I decided to stop here on a whim before heading into work this morning. I ordered at 8:13am and left by 8:23. I ordered an early bird special to go (breakfast sandwich with coffee & tater tots for $10!!). The gentleman there was extremely nice and helpful! I wasn't able to dig into my meal until about 35 minutes after getting into work but when I was able to the food was still hot and I have never had a more tasty breakfast sandwich. The toasted bagel was very soft to bite into and the egg was cooked to perfection. I will definitely be coming to this place more often and getting another early bird special! What a great meal to start a day. read more

First time here. Really cute retro diner. Ultra clean and well lit. Great staff. Menu is mainly chicken sandwiches, burgers, fries, tots, etc... But there is enough variety that you can try some new items several times. Prices are excellent. Portions are excellent. Orders are ready in less than 10 minutes and served with a smile. By the way, my wife says the cheeseburger is one of the best she's ever had anywhere. We will be back! read more

Love this place for a lunch or breakfast stop! The staff are great and super accommodating. You can tell they really get to know their customers. They have daily specials along with their regular menu. It's nothing much on the inside, but it's a casual Cuse vibe... perfect for stopping in. I tried the breakfast BLTE and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was so good and super creamy. The sandwich was delicious as well and fresh. Not too greasy. The Sriracha mayo was a nice addition. read more

Amazing little place. We stopped by here after calling and finding out that they do in fact have outdoor tables because we had our little dog with us, but when we arrived we were all welcome to sit inside in the AC, and our pup Goose definitely appreciated that AND the piece of bacon he was welcomed with. Super friendly staff and atmosphere, you kind of immediately feel like you belong and you know you're about to eat some good food! And boy did we. My husband and I are self proclaimed buffalo chicken sandwich connoisseurs and this was by far the best one we've had in the entire state. The fries were cooked to a crunchy golden perfection that I didn't even know fries could achieve. Honestly 20/10 place. Even though we live a couple hours away we will definitely be coming back! We stooped in to grab some food before a show nearby. Every place else was packed, so we were happy to find this place. When we walked in, they said they were closing early, so we couldn't sit and eat, but we could do take-out. They were also out of breakfast items, so we had to order lunch. I got a patty melt and my niece got a chicken sandwich. She enjoyed her sandwich, and the patty melt was one of the best I've ever had! They also offered us a free brownie for the inconvenience, and I thought that was so nice of them! The place is quaint and unassuming, but I highly recommend it! read more

Great little spot! I think everything is such a great price. Service has been friendly and quick the couples times I've been. They make a house sauce that is kind of like a burger sauce chipotle mayo. Pretty good! I prefer dipping the tots in tomato soup. Their coffee is perfectly good for diner coffee. They carry gluten free bread but no dedicated fryer. Space is small. Four booth tables with a few seats at the counter bar. read more

Such a great choice when you want some great food with a short wait time. They pride themselves on having your food ready within 10 minutes of ordering. I typically get the burgers here (always delicious) but I got their fish taco special this time and it was cooked perfectly. Nice and flakey without any soggy tortillas. Definitely recommend if you're downtown and want a bite bite to eat. read more

Wanted to try this place because I heard good things about it. Went with friends on Tuesday afternoon and it was not crowded but I noticed a lot of takeout orders going out. They do not have a waitress so I was a little confused once we sat down because we had to ask for menus and then nobody came over to take our orders. Then we realized we had to go up to put in our orders. I ordered the burger medium rare with fries and a beautiful looking cupcake . The burger was one of those smash burgers that is very thin therefore really cannot be cooked medium rare ( I wish I had known) . It could just be me but I'm not a fan of the smash burger. The fries were nothing special they just seemed to be frozen crinkle fries. I took the cupcake home and that was really tasty the frosting was not too sweet it was a creamy buttercream. The other day a few of my co-workers came back into the office with some takeout from Across The Hall. It smelled so good that it drove everyone in the office crazy. The following Monday we all went. The menu is pretty big, a lot of classic American food. I ordered the Gotti Cutlet sandwich with tater tots. The Tots were crispy and the sandwich was beyond my expectations, especially for the price. I loved it. My co-workers all ordered something different: burger, chicken parm sandwich, grilled cheese, roast beef sandwich. Everyone is in love. i highly recommend this place. read more

Awesome family run joint, very friendly although the menu is not huge they can customize anything and they do it good. I had a pretty good breakfast wrap, large portions. Good coffee that was HOT unlike many place serving cold coffee. I would visit again ! read more

My son did a food review of this diner a little while ago on his YouTube channel, and we just had to check it out while downtown on business...it did NOT disappoint at all!!! From the friendly greeting we received when we walked in from Kyle, to suggestions on the menu items, to the amazing food cooked to perfection! My husband ordered one of the specials: the meatloaf bowl, and I ordered the Broadway breakfast wrap with bacon with a side hash brown! Both meals were delicious! I'm a regular breakfast wrap eater, and I have to say this was, by far, the BEST I've ever had! The combination of eggs, pico, cheddar, avocado and siracha Mayo with your choice of meat (bacon) - YUM!!! Family owned and operated adds to the appeal in our opinion! I call back again and ask to speak to the manager and he tells me I have to email their HR department to get it all sorted out. He treated it like it was all a joke. I email them and they said I was Refunded for the first meal completely which I'm Still waiting for all these to process and that they're going to refund me for the second cheesecake. So I get hit with delivery fees and processing fees. I used to eat out here weekly but after this I'm sorry but I can't support someone who is going to mess my Order up twice I got hit with all these fees and there isn't anything they did to make the situation right and I've never had to email an HR department for a company I didn't work for. Also the second time I had to call the manager told me that I had to send an email about the missing desert and when I asked him to take care of it himself he couldn't comprehend the fact that I shouldn't have to contact them when they messed my order up twice it's disappointing that a place that I enjoyed eating at could care less that they made these mistakes.

A great thing of note is that they have women's, men's, AND an all-gender bathroom. I appreciate the inclusion in the food and restaurant itself. Car parking is street parking, it's accessible via the Centro bus system, and there is an artistic broken-chain shaoed bike rack just across the street from the restaurant. My group was happy with the prices and service for an early Wednesday dinner in a wintry March.
