Food, service, Ambiance 5 stars! Definitely recommend! Smash Burgers to perfection!! I'll eat at Poundtown whenever I'm in Syracuse from now on. Can't wait to try something else from the menu.

Tried this for the first time and found the burger to be very-over-priced at 19.80. It was super salty and had very few toppings on it and soft floppy fries. Kind of disappointing. At this price I expected better. Staff was super friendly and the interior was cool...hard to find a place to park though.

Service was great. It is nice to be able to see your food being made and the workers will check in on you and ensure your order is just how you want it. The interior is a little dingy, giving a dive bar vibe. The food I had was good, but nothing blew me away. I really do love how they serve handcut fries though. I think everything is reasonably priced.

Poundtown, originally operated by Randall Hon and his partner, Tihami Chowdhury, opened in January 2025 in a shared dining space that also houses Big Fellas. Hon is also a partner in two of the local Pavone's pizza shops and the Taphouse on Walton in Armory Square. After a falling out between the two men, Hon was left as the sole owner. Poundtown has variations on the smashburger (including the onion-heavy Oklahoma burger), plus chicken, wings, mac and cheese and other "American" foods. Smashburgers are my preferred style of burger, so I was excited to hear about Poundtown opening. It took me a while to get down to try it, but I was able to recently during a weekday afternoon. When it comes to the food, everything was very good. I went with the Poundtown Pub burger, a smashburger topped with American cheese, pickles, onion rings and a house pub sauce, with their everything spice fries. Food was great - it came quickly, fresh, good flavors, huge burger and side of fries. $23 for a burger, fries and drink, which is pricey, but food is pricey nowadays no matter what. I did have a couple issues just with the restaurant/service itself. If you've never been, as I said before, they share their space with Big Fellas, and for first timers, there's no sign or anything showing where you need to go for either restaurant. There is a hostess in the back of the restaurant, who is only there for Big Fellas. She told me to go to the register at the bar for Poundtown - the register was blocked by tables they have set up for patrons, so you're not even sure where to stand. I'm not sure if the employee who waited on me was new or just somewhat socially awkward, but he seemed very anxious the entire interaction - from not knowing what to tell me when I asked what they had to offer for drinks, having issues running the register, etc. Totally get if he was new, but it seemed like no one was there to help him out unless he asked, and it made the experience a bit awkward. Outside of that, the food was great, I just think the operations could run a little bit smoother, but I'd return if I was downtown and in the mood for a burger.

Went at 11:30 on a Thursday. Only one person working there at the time who was very nice but just got a bunch of takeout orders so there was about a 20 minute wait to get my food. Sat at the bar area and was the only one seated at the restaurant. The French fries tasted just like Five Guys, which are my favorite. Got the Oklahoma burger which is very onion heavy which was good, but I guess I like my burgers less crispy. It's my first smashburger so don't have a frame of reference. The size of the soft drinks were on the small side. Would go again for the fries. Love the fries.

Went to lunch with my friends to checkout one of the newer restaurants in downtown Syracuse. They were not busy but only had one person taking orders and cooking. I ordered a double cheeseburger and it came with hand cut fries. It took awhile to get our food but considering he was alone that was acceptable. I'm normally not a Smash Berger person but this was juicy and flavorful. The fries were really good. We sat outside because it was a nice day and that was enjoyable. The owner came around and brought us some peach sauce to try and asked us how everything was. That was a nice touch.

Amazing burgers, mac & cheese, and loaded fries. Yes, very rich, but very good. I'll definitely be back to try the chicken sandwich!

The restaurant was beautifully set up for the holiday, with a great atmosphere and a thoughtfully curated drink menu. I ordered the Toxic Ex-presso Martini, and WOW -- it was incredible. Absolutely one of the best espresso martinis I've had. For appetizers, we got the Thai chili tossed Brussels sprouts with garlic aioli, and they were to die for. Perfectly seasoned, crispy, and flavorful -- honestly, I could've just eaten that and been happy! For dinner, I had the Chicken Française, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. My husband ordered the fish and chips and said the tartar sauce was some of the best he's ever had. My son got the shrimp tacos topped with pineapple pico and served with homemade chips -- sooo good! We ended the night with dessert (because how could we not?): a layered brownie and cookie dough cake and a maple crème brûlée. Both were phenomenal and the perfect sweet ending. We've been here for brunch before and now for dinner, and both experiences have been fantastic. I cannot wait to go back and try something new! Highly recommend!

It was a nice comfortable feel indoors with a cute outdoor patio. There were two steps to the dining area so it was a bit difficult for my parents to navigate with limited mobility, but doable. The food tasted really good. The only improvement would be to make the yolk more runny on the eggs benedict and the potatoes were SUPER crispy. They could have cooked a touch less but all in all very tasty and good portions. The potato cake on the benny was crispy on the outside and creamy inside. The dijon on the croque sandwich was the perfect sharpness to cut through the rich cheese and bechamel. The carmelized cook on the breakfast skillet veggies was nice, and the bacon was perfect. The best cook on bacon I have had when going out to eat.

I ordered the garlic rice and wings (bourbon sauce), mac and cheese, and fried green tomatoes. I was excited because I had read good things on this very site. However, I was a bit disappointed. The star of the meal was the garlic rice which was admittedly delicious- would certainly get this again. The wings were also okay. I would go with a different sauce next time, and for anyone wondering they are breaded wings. The mac and cheese was not good. Incredibly bland and not warm. Would not recommend. The fried green tomatoes weren't very crispy by the time I got them home and ate them, which is surprising because they ripped vent holes in the styrofoam container to combat this. Not inedible, just not very good. Overall was pretty disappointed with my experience, definitely willing to go back though, so hopefully it changes!

I hope to try their other ones. I tried the chicken tender sub tonight. It was really good. My only complaint is they forgot the bacon, which would've made it even better. The tenders seem homemade. Very fresh.

Ewwww! Poor service…read more- I walked in to an empty store with several workers in the kitchen. I stood looking at them occasionally glancing my way while they busily prepared orders. Despite my standing under the PLACE ORDER HERE sign for greater than 6 minutes no one ever acknowledged my presence. I suppose one of the workers felt me staring a hole in his back so he turned around and our eyes met. I gestured to the cash register and the sign with a questioning expression. His sassy response was "Just a minute ma'am. There's only one person that works the register" Questionable food handling - as I waited for my order I watched EVERY SINGLE WORKER touch the order screen then handle the food with their bare hands. I even witnessed an incident where Mr. Only Cashier picked up a packed order bag, opened it, took out 2 orders of fries covered them with his whole bare hand and transferred them to a different order bag. He then sealed the 1st order back up, put on the shelf where it was, and got back to it. Two important takeaways: there is a sign posted about how serious they take hand washing Mr. Only Cashier did get some hand foam on a dispenser before he took my order. But he didn't get any on the return trip to the kitchen. 10/10 would not recommend!

It was loud, cramped, and a bit dark inside, which reminded me of a bar setting even though it wasn't at all set up like one. It was also cold, because every time the front door opened a cold breeze blew in. We ordered 30 bone-in wings and two drinks and it was over $50. I guess that is how it goes. The wings varied in size from normal to huge. No tiny wings in the bunch, and they were a good mix of flats and drumsticks. We got Buffalo, Barbecue, and Hawaiian flavors. I never got to try the Buffalo but the other two flavors were good. However, they were smothered in sticky sauce which got cloying after awhile and completely rendered your fingers disgusting. A roll of paper towels at the counter helped, though I had to go back after every couple of wings for more. The Hawaiian had a strong ginger flavor which was different and enjoyable. However, in sum I think they need to use less sauce in the future. Drinks were via the all-in-one soda machine that seems to have a million flavors on tap. It is right by the door and the area was crowded, so getting to the machine wasn't easy. It was fun to go out for wings, though it wasn't cheap. I rarely eat wings anymore so I can't say if the prices were fair or not, but they were good wings.
