Mac n cheese, ONION RINGS, standard and bbq burger

the only burger spot open for Mother's Day! Positives: staff was so nice and helpful. The Oreo shake was SO good, and you cannot beat a $15 bottomless mimosa day. Unfortunately, the food was, "eh." Many of the things seemed to lack flavor, including the patty itself, and mac n cheese and the onion rings. The patty also overcooked. I'd definitely come back to try the chicken & shakes, plus

920 Old Liverpool Road has been many restaurants over the past 20 years. First, they smelled of Big Macs and fries when the building housed a McDonald's. Later, Village Burger put its stamp here, earning syracuse.com's title of Best Burger in Central New York in 2012 before closing during Covid. Hope Café then moved in for a few years, and then the space sat vacant. Now the building has been completely renovated and covered with purple paint, seven flatscreens hang where quarter-pounders once slid through the McDonald's window. The old register counter has been repurposed as part of the support for the new bar. And the sign out front now reads Better Burger, the vision of Tihami Chowdhury after countless frustrating experiences at restaurants, including opening Poundtown Burger downtown with a partner, which resulted in a falling out between the two men. Being the smashburger fan that I am, and after already giving Chowdhury's former restaurant Poundtown a try, I had to give Better Burger a try as well. The inside is definitely a loud, colorful difference from it's former inhabitants, but I like that sort of decor. I ordered a Oklahoma onion burger with their spiced fries, a homemade lemonade and then got 2 Biscoff milshakes to go. My good was made quickly and everything was good. The burger was great and was a perfect size - they are not small burgers by any size, but I'm also not a fan of huge, sloppy burgers you can't even pick up, which this was not. The fries were good, but didn't seem fresh - they were lukewarm as if they'd sat in a hopper for a while. The milkshake and lemonade were delicious. Burger, fries, lemonade and 2 milkshakes came to $50 - pricey, but what food isn't nowadays? My only issue was just the operations end - they seem way more sit down, dine in focused, which I just find kinda off for a (mainly) burger joint. I opted to sit at the bar, as I was eating alone and didn't feel the need to be served by a server, and the employee working the bar seemed a bit undertrained and definitely distracted by being social with other workers. Outside of that, I enjoyed the food and would go back, just hopefully the operations side tightens up a bit - although they are still pretty new, so I definitely am not faulting them for that right now.

Better burger has only been open a couple of weeks. I saw it on Instagram and wanted to try. The Nashville chicken sandwich was delicious. It's spicy with coleslaw and it has a pretty good kick. The fry option is regular or seasoned. I opted for seasoned and those have a kick as well. They were shortstaffed which made the wait a little longer. However, they were apologetic. There were eight of us in total so the gratuity was added to the bill. I would definitely go back here.

I was planning to wait a month or so before trying this place since they just opened, but I had a weekday off and figured I would try it hoping it would be less busy. My mom and I were greeted and seated promptly upon entering. I really like the vibe they have created inside. The bar area is really nice as well. Our waitress brought us some popcorn and we put in our order pretty quickly. Their house made strawberry lemonade was quite delicious! I'm interested in trying something from their extensive cocktail menu next time I come. My mom and I decided to order a smash burger and a fried chicken sandwich so that we could try both. Each sandwich comes with either regular fries or seasoned fries. They also have a list of house made sauces. Shortly after ordering, our waitress came back to let us know they were out of their Better Sauce, which is their signature sauce. This was pretty disappointing as they have only been open less than a week. I'm not totally sure what was in the sauce, but it is a mayonnaise based sauce and seems like they would have most of the ingredients to make more. I ended up just getting ketchup on my burger, so I feel like I missed out on the full Better Burger experience. I will say the flavor on both the burger and chicken sandwich was very good! They definitely need to work on service a bit more. There were only about 5 tables full and they were still not super quick about getting things out. There was another table near us who had waited a while for their food and were getting frustrated. We also asked our waitress for honey mustard for our fries and she never brought it to us. I hate to give a restaurant 3 stars, especially one that is just starting out. I will definitely give them another shot in a month or so and hopefully they will have some of these things figured out. Their food is very good, so that is what kept them at 4 stars for me.

I highly enjoyed this spot! I ordered their double cheeseburger, seasoned fries and onion rings tower. The onion rings come with three very tasty sauces - one of them is the sauce that comes on your burger so that was great for dipping the burger and having some extra sauce. The customer service and the flavors were all on point. You might think the burgers pricey but they come with a hearty portion of fries. I tried the regular fries and the seasoned fries and I definitely prefer the seasoned fries. The burger was filling and a double does not leave you wanting more. I will definitely be back thanks to the flavors and sauces. That's what makes a burger joint out from the one, say...down the street. I've never loved the interior of this place no matter who inhabited it, so take out it will be for me, Keep doing what you're doing!

The infamous five dollar tray of coleslaw

The physical space has been updated and is quite nice. As we entered, we were quickly seated. A waitress asked if we would like some popcorn and we said why not? The popcorn arrived rather quickly and it was quite good actually. There is a full service bar which adds a bit of panache to the space. The problem is the wait staff. They appear to be completely untrained. Though they are pleasant young women, they don't understand how to properly take care of customers. For example, our menus weren't picked up after we ordered ; they didn't offer utensils, and they didn't pick up dirty dishes. I wound up stacking things on the edge of the table to nudge them to take them to the kitchen. I noticed that they carry out the drinks one at a time rather than putting them on a tray. Somebody needs to invest in training. Burger was OK, fries were good, but five dollars for a very tiny paper tray of coleslaw? The food is served very casually on plastic bowls with a piece of wax paper lining it. The kitchen is kind of slow. I think they are still struggling to figure things out smoothly.

Really good burgers at this still new restaurant! They have a great story and are doing it, chasing their dream. Love that! The burgers were indeed solid and the staff/service was top notch! The cocktail list is impressive and the drinks look like art and taste like perfection. So beautiful. Forgot to take a photo of the food too though. We were super hungry and immediately ate our Onion ring tower with 3 tasty sauces. Then the double cheese burger and Ranch bacon burger's -both lots of tasty flavors- the classic and slightly spicy fries were a great combination! We'll be back!

My adult daughter and I decided to try this place out, instead of going to the same old chain restaurants. As you head for the entrance, you are greeted by a rotted-out wooden guardrail on your left, and a couple loose bricks that fell from somewhere, on your right. Once inside the door, we were promptly greeted by a female employee. She asked us if we'd been there before, then gave us the rundown on how the place worked. My daughter ordered a basic chicken sandwich, and I ordered the chicken sandwich that had a peach BBQ sauce on it. The girl asked for a name, and gave us a "buzzer" that would notify us when our food was ready. On our way to a table, my daughter tripped because the whole floor was grossly sticky, and her shoe literally stuck to the floor. The interior is a combination of purple and yellow paint, in a generic, tiki bar kind of motif. Once you sit down, you are serenaded with an annoying selection of music that sounded like a selection of "Temu's not so greatest hits", being piped through their speakers. We were sitting there for quite a while, and our buzzer hadn't gone off yet, so my daughter walked up to the "pick-up" area of the front counter, and our food was sitting there. Nobody ever called out our name, the buzzer never went off, no clue how long our food had been sitting there. The portions of food were ample, but the food was moderately warm when we dove in. Our sandwiches both came with an order of "Good" fries. The fries were pretty good. They also offer "Better" fries, which come with a spicy seasoning on them. The chicken sandwiches were OK, nothing special. The peach BBQ sauce had almost zero flavor to it. We also ordered a fountain drink, and a lemonade. The drink cups held about 12 ounces. The total of the bill was $43.15 , which is pretty steep for what you get. When we were getting ready to leave, the girl that took our order came to our table and said "How was your food? That was weird that your buzzer didn't work". We wanted to spend our money at a local business, but for the money, it fell short on delivering the goods.

My daughter and I arrived at 4pm on Friday and were seated within minutes. Menus were provided and about a ten minute wait time for drink orders. It's a very vibrant fun burger themed restaurant with a bar and table service, but still has a fast food vibe. Complimentary buttery popcorn is served. I had the purple drop, refreshing lavender citrus beverage and fountain drink for my daughter. We ordered mozzarella sticks for appetizer that was taken at the same time as burgers double classic cheeseburger with fries and smokehouse burger that I believe was a double with seasoned fries. The mozzarella sticks were delivered hot with a nice cheese pull. Immediately followed by burgers and fries. Burgers served hot off the grill, seasoned well. My daughter thought they were comparable to FG's. I liked the unique seasoning just thought it lacking a bit of moistness. Loved the seasoning on the fries, looks like they have a bunch of loaded options as well! We were plenty full, I took most of my burger to go. Had to pass on the shakes for dessert! $65.88 was total with tip makes for a bit pricey but isn't everything these days! Definitely give them a try!

    NASHVILLE HOT CHICKEN SANDWICH
    Julia S.

I had an amazing experience and meal here! The Nashville Hot Chicken Mac bowl was delicious, the mac and cheese creamy and the chicken cooked perfectly! I'm a huge fan of their "better sauce" on top of the chicken as well. The owners are extremely kind and hospitable and the restaurant itself had the coolest vibe. Will absolutely go back! Can't wait to try more menu items.

All the food was fantastic, shrimp bisque, poached pear salad, steak with fabulous mashed potatoes, and one of the best lava cakes I've ever had and a shockingly good combo of Basque cheesecake and blood orange. And not to mention their cheese platter to start the night! Staff was friendly. Inside is cute and cozy, feels like an upscale Cafe with adorable artwork. We ordered the blue suede shoes - a burger topped with cheddar, bacon, lettuce, tomato, carmelized onions, pickles and house remoulade and an order of hot stuff buffalo tenders. Our food was brought relatively quickly and we enjoyed everything. Fries were fresh, crispy and seasoned, burger was cooker perfectly, the tenders were fresh, crispy, saucy and had just the slightest kick of heat to them.
