Lovely little place located under On My Darling in Syracuse. There is a secret entrance located in the café attached to Oh My Darling. Once you open the door you head down the stairs and you'll be entering into the bar and lounge. There is also a set of elevators that is located somewhere in Oh My Darling that will also bring you down. This is technically supposed to be a speakeasy but anyone can go, no need for a special code or anything. Once you enter you don't feel like you're in Syracuse anymore, it's almost like you entered into a time capsule. There is lots of fun antiques and industrial Decour. There is plenty of unique seating areas that are both functional, comfy, and unique. There is a stage in the bar area but no one was preforming during our visit. They have a large cocktail list and can also make pretty much whatever you want. They also have beer, seltzers and ciders. Drinks can be on the pricier side, but I feel like you're paying for the atmosphere. Definitely a cool place, I would recommend if you're in downtown to give this place to try since it is much different than some of the overcrowded bars in armory square. Overall a nice place to get a drink and chat with friends. Definitely will be back.

The Fitz is a classy speakeasy style bar in the basement of Oh My Darling, a restaurant right in downtown Syracuse. I was there on a Saturday evening where there was live jazz music! It is a fun yet intimate atmosphere with booths, tables, and a big bar to stand at. Full bar with lots of specialty cocktails and tasty drinks. Some people were dressed up super classy, but my friends and I were dressed casual and didn't feel out of place. 10/10 would be back here again.

finally had a chance to try this place after 2 previous attempts where private events had booked out the place. the atmosphere and decor is awesome- really resembles the prohibition era and adds to the vibe of the place. lots of cute places to sit as well. our bartender was super nice and sweet as well! however- for a cocktail bar their menu is extremely limited. not a lot of specialty cocktails at all. i had an espresso martini and it was pretty mediocre, which is disappointing especially for the price of $16!! to give them credit, it's not technically on their menu but it really lacked in flavor, and i was pretty surprised by the upcharge considering the other cocktails are like 14. my friends were not wowed by their drinks either. cute atmosphere, but probably won't be back.

Really cool idea with all the period decor that would be expected for a speakeasy themed bar. Comfortable chairs and friendly staff.

Atmosphere is fun but the drinks are very expensive and the pours a very very small. It's crowded on weekends and the bar wait is long.

This was lucky because the weather ended up being cold and wet. The space isn't huge and it's pretty unique because it looks like it was converted from an old theater. Since it was an outdoor show it seemed like the ticket sales were for a much bigger space. As the night went on the crowd thinned out and it was much more comfortable to not have people on top of you. Overall, I'm pretty impressed with how they configured a small space. There is a big bar in the back which sells drinks and pizza. There are registers reserved for canned drinks and water to help move the line along. There is also a vending machine to sell snacks. There is a slight decline in the floor so it feels like an outdoor show and if you are in the back you can still see. The big drawback is the bathrooms are super tiny. You could be waiting for a long time. Overall, a pretty cool spot, check it out if you are in the area.

My friends and I purchased tickets for $30 each, expecting a well-organized experience with a live DJ, as advertised. However, what we received was far from what was promised. The DJ never showed up, and instead of a live set, the event simply played the "This Is One Direction" Spotify playlist. This is unacceptable. If the DJ had canceled, the appropriate response would have been to reschedule, offer attendees a refund or partial reimbursement, or at the very least, provide some form of compensation such as complimentary drinks. Instead, we were left feeling completely shortchanged. Additionally, the event was supposed to be a full experience, yet it was abruptly cut off at 9:15 PM--barely three hours long. For the price we paid, this fell significantly below reasonable expectations, and it felt like a blatant disregard for the attendees who invested in this experience. Given the lack of the promised DJ, the shortened event time, and the overall mismanagement, I strongly believe that ALL attendees deserve compensation, whether in the form of a partial refund or credit for a future event. Please let me know how you plan to address this issue. I look forward to your prompt response.

The Blue Spruce Lounge opened in the space that had been the Carnegie Cafe in the Maplewood Inn at 400 7th North St. The opening coincided with the completion of interior renovations to the hotel side, and is a bar and full-service restaurant, with live music several days a week and a banquet room that hosts weddings and other events, including a Paint Night and a Trivia Night. I found a Groupon for Blue Spruce and had been interested in trying it since I work very closely with it. The wife and I decided to try it out today for lunch while running errands. When you walk into the restaurant entrance, there's a small foyer area with a trash can. There were napkins and papers all over the floor today since that wasn't exactly a welcoming sign. We walked into the restaurant, which was empty, but there was no hostess at the stand. The bartender, who I now know is the owner, and also ended up being our server, ran over and sat us. We thought it was a little odd, as he was dressed in a sweatshirt and basketball shorts. We were told we could sit anywhere, as there were no other customers. The place is a very nicely decorated place, but for a sunny day, it was very dark inside. The owner turned the lights up, but we would've preferred just having the curtains opened. We sat and were given our menu. I chose The Northside, a sub with sliced pork, broccoli rabe and a roasted garlic aioli, while the wife chose their sweet Italian chicken griller sandwich, grilled chicken, a grilled sausage patty, roasted red peppers and mozzarella. All sandwiches and burgers are served with fries. Our order seemed to take a long time for two sandwiches. Especially seeing as the restaurant was empty other than us. It was also DEAD quiet...you could hear a pin drop. There were several TVs on in the place, but none of them had the volume on, and there was no music playing in the place either. The quiet was even more noticeable, as the owner/host/server/bartender spent most of the time we were waiting for our food on his cell phone having a rather loud conversation, then after he hung up, we clearly heard him yelling at his staff when he went into the kitchen. He was nice enough to us, but just didn't seem very professional. Our food came and we started in. The wife and I both switched a half or each other's sandwiches so we could try both and everything was just ok. The fries were good...we both like crispy, battered fries, and that's what they serve, but they had WAY too much salt on them. My wife's sandwich had a balsamic glaze on it that isn't mentioned on the menu, but we found both our sandwiches bland. The pork on my sandwich was pretty good, but besides that, it was also bland. There was apparently a garlic aioli on it, but the flavor was non existent. The sausage on my wife's sandwich was sweet sausage, but it also had very little flavor along with the chicken breast. Everything was just very plain. The owner rang us up, but rang the Groupon incorrectly. He was very easy going about it when I pointed it out and fixed it though. I went to use the bathroom and when I came back, the wife said the owner spoke to her and said they had a more extensive dinner menu and bands at night, which answered my question as to why they had such a huge, empty space in the back of the restaurant. Overall, it was just disappointing. I'm glad we used a Groupon and barely paid anything, as the flavors on the food just wasn't there and there was simply no atmosphere to the place. I think we could give it another shot for dinner at some point, but lunch just missed the mark.
