Great, non-pretentious dive bar. The bartenders and owner are very friendly. First Friday of the month is 80's night!

A short wait for menus and to scour drink menu. I went with pomegranate cosmo, unfortunately it lacked presentation due to shortage of appropriate glassware. Server was apologetic, taste was pleasant but strong and lacking garnish. My friend just ordered a light draft and we ordered Reuben egg rolls to share. Best Reuben egg rolls I have had in the Cuse! Tons of tender corned beef, and just a hint of sauerkraut and Swiss served with thousands island dressing! I ordered an extra for take out for my Irish man at home and short rib tacos. Those did not keep well for take out, more meat and toppings would improve the continuity compared to tortillas. Service excellent, frequently checked upon for refills and food order. Prompt delivery and friendly service! Great place for meetups with a pub sports bar atmosphere. I'm not sure I noticed remanence of the prior press room. Many televisions great for sport events. Menu is simple and pub oriented.

She went on to list a bunch of items she loves from there and kept saying how good the food is, so I was sold. I ended up calling and placing our order, and they dropped it off right at my job, which was super convenient. I ordered the honey barbecue wings and added a side of barbecue sauce--though honestly, I didn't even need it. These wings were slamming. As you can see from the picture, every single wing was soaked perfectly in sauce. No dry spots at all. You get a dozen wings with your order, and they also include celery and ranch on the side. Even the celery and ranch tasted heaven-sent, which says a lot because usually that's just an afterthought. They have a pretty full menu with a nice variety of American-style dishes to choose from. I've heard it's a great bar atmosphere too, although I haven't eaten inside yet--but I'm definitely looking forward to that experience. Based on the food alone, I'll absolutely be ordering from here again.

The place itself if a dingy regular bar, with many small TVs around with sports on (and a surprisingly high amount of infomercials). We tried the Yelp check in perk (was pretty difficult to do, no one knew what it was). It's a seat yourself, serve yourself sort of environment (go up to the bar to order everything). That being said, I'm giving this place a 4/5 stars for the chicken tenders alone. I was very very pleasantly surprised (I expected all bar food to be bar food). The chicken tenders were very crispy and tasty. My one qualm is that the size of the different tenders is extremely varied/not uniform. This means between the different orders in the group, some portions looked much larger than others. In addition, as a note, the eight piece tenders does not come with fries, only the four piece. All in all, I was really pleasantly surprised by the food and will likely come back for the chicken tenders again in the future.

There are 4 or 5 bar/restaurants just across the street from the Courtyard Marriott Armory Square, where I stayed. First couple were really packed, due to the World Series, and so I walked a little farther down the street. Found Clinton Street Pub, which seemed like the local hangout from the looks inside. Not too many people, which meant plenty of room at the bar, which works for me. The waitress, forget her name, was very nice. Served quickly. At first didn't think it was anything special, until more people arrived and ordered their food. I took a look at the menu, and I could see why locals would return. Ordered Sal's Special Burger with deep fried cheese curds, Sal's sassy sauce, and coleslaw on a kaiser roll. How could I go wrong with that? Well, I didn't. In fact it was fantastic. The potato wedges were fried just right, not overdone, or underdone as many establishments struggle with, and the burger was much bigger, juicier and tastier, than expected. This place reminded me of Lark Street Tavern. The food is typical bar food, but the food is not typical, instead, much better than typical. See photo.

Quality of the food depends. The $18 salad was a plate of iceberg lettuce with a few scraps of cheese thrown on. The salad was the biggest disappointment. On the other hand, the classic poutine was bang on. Great ratio of gravy to fries, everything was nice, all the flavors were right. But the rest of the poutines have too much quality variation, which is unforgivable for a place advertising their 12 different kinds of poutine. None of the other flavors were nearly as good as the classic, with combos that didn't work. The burger was tasty. However, it was supposed to be medium and it was very rare. The beer cheese pretzel was also disappointing. The cheese had been cooked too long, or maybe microwaved, because it had seized and was very coarse and mealy. The amount of cheese was also not enough for the pretzel. Service was great. No complaints about any of the waitresses or hostesses. Overall, a fine place near downtown to get a classic poutine and an artisanal beer. Stay away from everything else.

We were greeted warmly by the bartender who was taken care of a few patrons at the bar. We grabbed menus and sat down at a separate area where the dart boards are. Sign said to go up to the bar to order. The bartender "Megan" was very friendly and made us feel at home. I ordered the smothered steak sandwich with curly fries. They had an up charge for fries over potato chips but I was in the mood for fries and it was reasonable $1.99. The sandwich was huge and I especially liked that the bun was toasted and crisp. The meat was not over cooked and the cheese was melted with the peppers and onions underneath. The fries looked pale but they were cooked and lightly salted. The cook brought the food out to us which was a nice touch. They checked on our table several times to make sure we were ok. My lunch mates had hamburgers which they really liked. Altogether a pleasant experience. This is not a fancy place but they have good reasonable food (my lunch was 15.15 total with tax and up charge for using a credit card).

I was unable to have a conversation with my boyfriend. An incredibly intoxicated man came up to me SCREAMING in my ear, while I was turned away with my finger in my ear to attempt to send a signal of disinterest and discomfort, his even more intoxicated friend then joined and encroached on my seat. When I jumped up, my skirt was stuck under him, because he was so close to me to a point that he was partially sitting on my stool. The bartender witnessed this interaction and continued pouring them drinks. While waiting for our take out order, I was so happy to have a drink in my hand. I have never "downed" a double gin and tonic faster in my life. There was no quiet corner to escape to, and my boyfriend was seething in anger and disgust the entire 20-25 minutes we waited there, as well as the 20 minute drive home. I was sorry that he didn't have a drink to take the edge off during our experience there, but he was not willing to give them a single dollar. At no point in my life would I have wanted to experience this place, and at no point will I be returning. Chicken wings were delicious.
