I was looking at the reviews here and I can't understand why the average is below a four! This place is extremely authentic and amazing. A must if you are in the area of Syracuse. The food is absolutely fantastic, some of the best I've had, and the service was on point. Even the Irish music that's been playing. The whole visit has been incredible.

Another great visit to Coleman's! A great evening with BFF and her out of town siblings. Great food these are just a few of the dinners ordered, the beef on weck was one of the best I've had in the area. Fresh kimmelweck roll, horseradish with a kick, and Au Jus, I wish the roast beef was more rare than well but still excellent. Others enjoyed steak cooked to order, fish, grilled chicken sandwich, mash and bangers, love the round fries that are actually chips in Ireland. Julie provided attentive service with a smile and grace! Always love the authentic Irish vibe at the restaurant and bar. We then ventured to the outdoor venue with Arcade performing. Really fun 80's band! Outdoor beverages in two locations out back, both were only a quick wait time. Outdoor flatscreens for sport events, and a food truck serving hot dogs out back! Enjoy the craic!

First a disclaimer, I play trivia here Tuesday nights at 8 so I might be a little biased. Very friendly service, solid food, youthful crowd. A very happy place. I usually get the Coleman's club which is very filling but also enjoy the open faced Ruben and bangers and mash. And a pint of Guinness

Only upside down light in the US. According to Irish lore, since the green was not on top the locals continued to break the light until fix

Another great Irish Pub in the Syracuse, NY area. Great ambiance would you expect from a large Irish pub, the bar was awesome. Sitting at the bar, the service was exceptional, beers cold and the Irish whiskey selection was good. We only had apps, but they did not disappoint, chicken wings were well made and super tasty and their soda bread was awesome. Definitely worth checking out when in the area.

Authentic Irish vibe through and through. All the hardwood and stained glass is an awesome experience. The bar is jammin' all times of the day. Definitely a happening place to be

Went here for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon- not too many people so service was great. The place is huge with lots of seating options- bar, low top, and booth. Stained glass windows and wood all over the place which was super pretty. We ordered the Bantry Bay Shrimp appetizer which was amazing! It had a bed of lettuce topped with thai chili sauce. Nice and crispy, not doughy at all. We also got the Irish soda bread which comes as a whole loaf with a side of whipped honey cinnamon butter. I didn't even like Irish soda bread before having this one- but honestly I think it was the butter that did me in. For the entree we got the Bacon Gouda Pretzel Burger- so good!!! Bun was perfect and had just the right amount of salt, onions perfectly cooked, not too much cheese, so delicious. It comes with a side so we got Irish fries (circular flat fries) which were amazing as well. Would definitely come back again if we lived over here! They also have cute decor for leprechauns!!

Good times with good people in a good spot!

We stopped into Coleman's after a family brunch; we had gathered in Syracuse from all over to celebrate a friend and return to our roots. I'm happy to report that after moving away for 20 years, Coleman's is still the vibrant go-to spot I remembered. The place was jammed with pre-St. Paddy's Day celebrants; green beer was flowing. We found a table for our group just in time, and joined in the revelry. Irish bars are known for their conviviality, and Coleman's upholds that characterization. It's a fun place to go anytime. We didn't sample to food, so I hope my memories of good Irish pub offerings is still true today. I will say that as crowded as Coleman's was, the service was excellent. When we went to the bar for refills (which was often as there weee 13 of us in our troupe) the bartenders somehow managed to fulfill our orders fast, always a mark of an efficient and experienced bar staff. My only regret is that since I'm not a local, it'll be some time before I return.

This pub is a pillar of the Tipperary Hill community. It has all the charms of an Irish pub. Down to the details of the leprechaun door, phone booth, etc. There are different levels to the dining area so being able to traverse stairs is a must. Unless if you asked to be seated on the first level. The place has a very cozy feel. The food is on point. Tried a good cross section of the menu and enjoyed every dish. The service was very friendly and attentive despite it becoming a fully packed dining area. I think the soup and salad combo is a great value especially if you are looking for something on the lighter side. The Cajun dipping sauce for the onion rings is delicious. Their mashed potatoes are so delightful especially if you like that homemade kind with slight lumps. The Bailey's cheesecake was so delightful and yet still light. You can tell things are made from scratch and not just frozen.

While visiting Syracuse, we decided to check our the Irish district, where the traffic lights are upside down. We happened to park on a side street near this pub. After taking all the pictures we wanted, we decided to stop in here for a drink. The staff was friendly, the place was busy, and the aesthetics of the place was very traditional. My wife and I reminisced about our time in Ireland, when we drove through the entire country and visited random restaurants and pubs. This place also have a lot of adorable and unique add-ons like an entrance for leprechauns. As we went here on the 1st of March, they had just started offering their green beer and other St Patrick themed items. While many ordered the green beer, which is just Budweiser with green food coloring, we decided to stick to our Guinness. They also have a large variety of other Irish beer which Id love to try in the future. If you are in the area, this is a must visit. In fact, we may consider driving back from Buffalo to visit this place in the future.

Always a good time at Coleman's! Great service that's always very efficient. We love the "behind the bar" bar spot- best place to get a drink quickly. We got to sit outside and enjoy the gorgeous October weather, watch the cars go by and enjoy spending time on Tipp Hill. Great selection of drinks; it's an Irish bar, so plan on a great selection of beers. I recommend and "Irish car bomb." Slainte!

For the longest time, I'd only been to this place during the same huge events that drew in half the city. The days where they need someone to direct traffic at the intersection because the crowd is practically spilling into the street. Almost exclusively in the month of March, whether it's green beer, or just green metal 16 oz bottles of bud light. It's a fun time, but something I have to gear up for because it doesn't resemble a regular day out at the bars. I will say that they're pretty efficient with the drinks considering what must be tens of millions of people they're serving. We recently decided to see what the bar was actually like on normal days. We started by going to a trivia night on Tuesday. We don't usually do trivia nights, and thought it would be a lot more personal than Syracuse Trivia Company had it. You pretty much get your answer booklet, fill out a page of answers as they announce the questions, then turn the pages in to be scored. The place is spread out through most of the bar, and a lot of people were using their phones. We also didn't like how they awarded points in the game based on membership and loyalty to the trivia company. (These could all be standard qualities of trivia nights, we haven't been to many of these.) Still a fun time, but not something we ended up making a habit of. We did enjoy the bar while we were there. The place was cozy, the service was friendly and we loved the food. We got Kimmel Burger, some hot wings and the Beef O'Flaherty and loved them all. I'm honestly surprised how good the wings were. They were some of the best we've had in Syracuse, and have never heard of them before we ordered. The burger was also a lot better than it looked. Our favorite part though was the Beef O'Flaherty. Unlike anything we've had before, and great to have with drinks. The taste hit us hard - we both tried a bite and said "Holy crap, we need more of this." The cottage fries were also a big hit, and this was the only place we've had them. Thin little disk shaped fries, optimized for surface area. A few weeks later, we were looking for some British food and this was a highly recommended option. We ordered some Bangers & Mash and Sheperd's Pie to go and took them home. It came in a to-go box, but lined with foil so it couldn't be microwaved. It was a single layer of foil, so not easily transferrable to the oven. This was our first time with Bangers and Mash. The bangers are sweet like breakfast sausage, and the onion gravy should be sold on tap. The sheperd's pie was surprisingly smooth and melted in our mouths. Even the ground beef was somehow extra tender. Both meals were on the small side as far as portions go, and left us wanting more. Great quality though for both. All in all, this bar is an institution on Tipp Hill. Sometimes it's too good, and it fills up very fast. I spent most of my adult life going to Blarney Stone without really considering what I'd been missing. I won't say Colemans is better, but it's a great alternative.

We went for my mother in law's birthday as she's never gone and enjoys Irish fare. My boyfriend got the open face Rueben (no picture) but he always enjoys it. We got the Guinness beef stew and this is my fave, I always have some leftovers. My mother in law doesn't usually eat a full me but she loved the stew so much she had it all at Coleman's. Also got a pumpkin hard cider with cinnamon sugar rim (seasonal) and absolutely loved it. Overall great food!

When I saw an espresso martini and cake pairing, I knew I had to pull the trigger. Met up with some friends and we all ordered food beforehand to offset the impending sugar rush. I'd had their naan pizza in the past and loved it, so this time I went with the one that had caramelized onions and goat cheese. AMAZING. Crispy crust, melty cheese, tangy onions and the perfect amount of everything in every bite. Then onto the main event: the flights! The staff brought over our cake and drinks and were so great about explaining what to pair together. (There was also a card) Desserts were a carrot cake with the most impossibly airy icing, a pistachio cheesecake with chocolate ganache, and a chocolate cake with a light nutella icing. I'm usually a carrot cake girlie and while I enjoyed it, the cheesecake was actually my favorite. Just the perfect pistachio flavor and a wonderful consistency -- so, so smooth. Our waitress told us that the owner is the one that makes all of the desserts too. A multi-talented queen. As far as the martinis, my favorite was the affogato one. These flight-nights are one-off events and the items aren't normally on the menu, so if you see one that looks extra appealing, get yourself there! I've been for normal service too though, and honestly, never have had a misfire here. One thing I especially love is the option to order drinks in 5oz pours, a godsend for lightweights like me. Quality of the food depends. The $18 salad was a plate of iceberg lettuce with a few scraps of cheese thrown on. The salad was the biggest disappointment. On the other hand, the classic poutine was bang on. Great ratio of gravy to fries, everything was nice, all the flavors were right. But the rest of the poutines have too much quality variation, which is unforgivable for a place advertising their 12 different kinds of poutine. None of the other flavors were nearly as good as the classic, with combos that didn't work. The burger was tasty. However, it was supposed to be medium and it was very rare. The beer cheese pretzel was also disappointing. The cheese had been cooked too long, or maybe microwaved, because it had seized and was very coarse and mealy. The amount of cheese was also not enough for the pretzel. Service was great. No complaints about any of the waitresses or hostesses. Overall, a fine place near downtown to get a classic poutine and an artisanal beer. Stay away from everything else.
