I went with 5 friends as a 22 year old senior. They asked for SUID's but 2 of my friends weren't students at SU. One "bouncer," Corey, said if he could take a picture of my friend's ID (an SU student) and send it out, he would let everyone in despite if they were SU students or not. My friend paid the $60 of our total cover charge to Corey and went forward to walk into the bar. Another bouncer asked for the $60 of cover and he told them he paid the $60 earlier. They asked Corey if he had the $60 and he said "that kid didn't pay me Jack shit." Then they wouldn't let us in and kept our $60 cash. read more

If I could give this dump zero stars I would. I only came here because my org was throwing an event here and they had a tab at the bar for us. I got a can of beer and proceeded to go dance. After a while, the same asshole who checked my bag came up to me and told me I had to leave. When I asked why, he couldn't even give me a straight answer. It bounced between I didn't pay for it or I snuck it in (which was total BS). The guy was so aggressive that I wouldn't be surprised if he was racially profiling me as there was another chick who had a can of beer but he didn't say anything to her. Not to mention that place looked like an abandoned warehouse basement and the DJ was absolute ass. 0/10 ur better off having a good time at five guys across the street than at this dump. read more

Harry's Harry's Harry's. I spent the better half of my Junior and Senior here and this place sure does grow on you. John, the owner, is super friendly and always down to buy you a shot (provided you know him, are with someone who knows him, and he is not pissed off for some stupid reason). They used to have flip night back in the hey day, but have long since gotten rid of it. ZJ's, the pizza place upstairs, has now been moved down stairs in between the front bar and back bar. He's a genius because he knows how much drunk people love pizza and has figured out a way to make his business more profitable. I can only hope SPD and their stupid bar raids entitled Operation Prevent don't bust Harry's for underage drinking. Its one of the few good bars left on the hill. read more

I knew when the door guy looked at my ID card for a whole minute I was going to be racially profiled, he was gathering his thoughts on what excuse to tell me and my friend as to why we can't enter. he said our IDs were fake. I am a SU student and have never experienced this type of treatment. The kid said "this isn't a black bar". Harry's is a racist establishment, I would encourage you to not waste your time here or being harassed by people who don't like the way you look. read more

We stopped at Harry's on New Years Eve and was shocked that the cook had decided to "be at another party" so the kitchen was closed, at 8:30 pm on a 'Cuse game night. The beer selection was vast, however extremely pricey ($5.50 for PBR and $5.25 for Corona). We ordered 4 different beers and the PBR was the better beer we ordered. The other 3 tasted flat and skunky. Not to mention they didn't have any limes for the Corona. While listed as a dive bar, it truly fits the label. read more

There's really no reason to go here, look elsewhere for anything remotely resembling a good time. They charge twice as much as the other bars on the hill, and there's a cover that's higher than the other bars on weekends as well. On top of that, the selection of beers is dismal. The interior isn't appealing in any way, it's in a basement and feels like it. read more

This place seems to grow on everyone BUT me. Everyone I know raves about this bar. I keep on going back because I think it will get better, but you know what, it never does. I feel like the drinks are more expensive than every other bar in the 'Cuse ( I could be wrong ) and you have to wait forever. There's not really a dance floor unless you count the bar that my friends dance on. You can get pizza though, but no one does because who wants to be seen eating pizza at 2 am. They play the same songs every night. But, it is always packed with people you know, and everyone seems to be really drunk and enjoying it because it is the "cool" place to go for upperclassmen. Harry's is best for watching a football game in the afternoon or early evening. read more

This is the worst bar I've ever been in. No draft beer, nothing but well drinks, and $7 for a bottle of lame ass Bud. The bar was sticky, the floor was sticky,and the bathroom smelled like it had been washed with urine. The guy making a pizza was using his hairy arm to stretch the dough. Yuck...there were 4 if us there at the time, you'd think they could at least clean the bar so your arms don't stick. Apparently the city of Syracuse doesn't have a health department or maybe they don't inspect the bars. Do not waste your time here. read more

I've been meaning to write this for awhile but now that I'm back at cuse people should know! Harry's Bar is the best bar on the hill. People will always make fun of this place but its a college bar. What do you expect! They play the best music, always super cool djs, and its just so much fun when everyone is there. The owner John is a blast snd if your cool with him he gives you free shots all the time. They have the best tasting drinks (Though a little pricey) but the bartenders are the best. So friendly! Mainly the guys but the girls are good too. Especially that one bartender who works there all the time in that one corner everyone is at (I think his name is Jamie) Easily the hottest bartender I've seen and all his drinks are good. Go to him he's the best bartender in the school and usually hooks you up (Guys and girls). I hope he's there this year! Only reason it doesn't get 5 starts is because the bathroom situation. Don't plan on using it unless its to fix your makeup. The toilet never works and it floods. Don't get me wrong, Lucys and Chucks are fun too, but if your looking to have a blast and get wasted go to HARRYS! Its just a unique college experience. The other bars you can go anywhere in the world. BASIC If your looking for a simple older bar, this is not the place for you. I Love Harrys! You'll defy catch me in the basement this year! read more

Assaulted and threatened by the bouncer, unprovoked. Inadvertently walked in the wrong entrance (the front street entrance facing Crouse Ave) last night and was confronted on the stairwell by a bouncer who then shoved me up the steps and began yelling at me and threatening to "throw down" out on the sidewalk, while threatening the company I was with too. 100% promise this was unprovoked, and I walked away calm trying to not escalate the situation. I was sober and arrived around midnight. This was my second time at this bar and I will absolutely never go back. read more

Once you get past that you are in the basement of CVS, there is an awesome staff, the owner John is very friendly, knows his regulars. It is a fun college bar and has lots of space. The bathrooms are gross and the floor is dirty but after a few drinks you don't notice :) read more
