My friend and I stopped in on a hot Sunday afternoon. It was not busy and we were waited on upon sitting at the bar. The choices are extensive. We ended up with a pint of Southern Tier Blueberry tart I believe, topped off with lemonade making them Shandy's. This was at the bartenders recommendation. This is the first time we have ordered liters, they are so heavy you need two hands to drink. They were cold and refreshing for the first half but the heat quickly warmed and flattened the carbonation. I would recommend smaller pours if you want your beer cold. The special was a free hot dog with a liter purchase but upon inquiry they were out of hot dogs. It is a peanut bar but they do not have any other food options. $14 each for the Shandy's. What happened? Our party of 4 stopped down on a Saturday night to enjoy some beer, darts, and grab some hot dogs and giant soft pretzels. The bar was out of the beer we wanted, the dart boards were so used that not one of our bullseyes would stick, and they no longer sold hot dogs or pretzels. Even the free peanuts were out of stock. That meant no food. Period. We had read on their website that Wolff's had a deal with Pavone's Pizza to deliver to the bar. When we asked the bartender about it, he didn't know a thing. So, we ended up walking to the Dinosaur BBQ for some food. We were also disappointed that there was no holiday music playing, in spite of the fact that many of the customers were wearing santa and elf hats, and Christmas sweaters. Apparently the bar changed ownership over the summer. Gone is the wall of dollar bills. Gone are the football team scarves hanging from the ceiling. Gone is a lot of the charm of what we used to enjoy about the biergarden. All in all, we were sorely disappointed. It will be a while until we return. read more

Stopped in for a quick half-liter at around 7pm on a Tuesday. The place was practically empty. Big space with lots of barstool and bench-style seating. Very neat and well-kept space with nice biergarten/college decor around. Huge beer selection (as expected) and prices were fair. I paid $8 for half-liter of Duvel. Nice place with good beer, but if you're going to go with a theme, then commit. First Biergarten I've ever been to that played hip hop and dance music as opposed to German music. Also, instead of soccer games on the television there were basketball games. I got pretty excited when I saw that Syracuse had a German Biergarten, but my excitement quickly turned to disappointment. They were out of all of the beers we wanted to try before settling on an entire pint. After choking down a couple sips of beers that we weren't into, we HAD to order something. The bartender was super sweet and very kind to us and it wasn't his fault but dang, couldn't they have at least one that we liked? We all finally decided on something to drink. It's your typical college vibe, downtown bar, with bar stools and table games. The dart boards were full and that was mainly why we went to Wolff's. Wolff's Biergarten has a great vibe and a good amount if seating! They have a large beer selection and a very social atmosphere. They also have tvs if you're interested in coming here for a sporting event. The best part of Wolff's is that you get a free boot of beer (yes, a boot!) when it's your birthday! I think it's such a fun thing they offer and my friend's and I make it a point to go there for someone's birthday so they can get their boot. The major downside is it's a cash only bar. I personally have stopped carrying cash so it's definitely a bit of an inconvenience to not be able to use a card. However, they do have an onsite ATM for this exact situation. read more

This was our second night going here since the change in ownership. The bar was not even at half capacity and it was slow for a Friday night. My partner and I sat for 15 minutes at the bar and were repeatedly ignored, watched 4 patrons get served who walked up to the bar after us. There was one employee working the bar, who was very friendly but clearly overwhelmed. We got frustrated and left without being served, walked to another bar and had beer within 4 minutes of leaving the bar. Save your time and Money and go to Maxwells instead! I recommend you hire more staff to avoid negative experiences like this moving forward! We are not likely to return. read more

I came here with friends to start my friends bar hopping birthday night. This was a great choice. It was my first time here, the environment relaxed and friendly. Came here to watch a World Cup game so the place was packed. Still found somewhere to sit and didn't take long to get a drink. The 1911 tropical cider was delicious. A huge cup was $7. The place had a lovely atmosphere to watch the game. I overheard someone saying to their wife that they get a free hot dog with their large beer purchase but I wasn't sure if that was legitimate and I did not see any signs saying that. Why had I never gone here despite going to SU for 4 years? Wish I discovered this place earlier. I came in with a few of my girlfriends to celebrate their birthdays. On your bday, Biergarten gives you a 1 liter glass boot of beer for free! It was such a fun time. Thursday's are trivia night, which was fun because the place was full. Thursdays are bring your own food, which I think is a great idea for an alternative type bar such as this. It's mostly a young crowd as the rustic decor looks like it came straight from Pinterest. The seats have no backs because they are benches, and tables are shared with strangers. (Think a large picnic table). I wouldn't bring a big family or young kids here. Peanuts galore all over the tables which kept my hunger down. There were a few dogs all of shapes and sizes in the place, my favorite part. Not sure if that is usual of Biergarten but it added a fun touch. I got a light ale and split with a friend. The options for sizes are generous. I didn't get food so I can't speak on it. I had planned my 21st birthday around the Birthday boot concept months prior to the date itself. On my birthday, a sorority date night was happening and I was in attendance. I presented my ID and was told no Boot. No explanations simply ~no boot~ I thought maybe they were running out of beer but yet they gave me beer in a cup instead so that reasoning fell through. I then figured this was because they thought I might be irresponsible and able to drop and break it but that's also invalid reasoning because I had $40 of insurance and an ID ready to hand over to the bartender. ??? I went back a week later with my roommate and explained the story asking for a boot out of consolation and again, no boot. No explanations just no boot. THEN, the bartender let some chick walk and dance all across the bar itself but couldn't give me a damn boot. TERRIBLE business model, don't advertise a free birthday boot if you aren't willing to give them out. Bullllshiiiii. My business will never be at Wolff's overrated Biergarten. read more

I absolutely love this place. Cash only, cheap beers, and the place to be when soccer games are on. They have a very limited food menu (hot dogs, pretzels), but also don't mind outside food, which is awesome. The free peanuts are always a plus. First time here the other night- celebrating a friend's birthday. 2 liters of refreshment in a glass boot- all for a $40 deposit. Saw a few other patrons who were also celebrating their birthdays with boots that night. They essentially give you three glass sizes to choose from when you order- we all opted for the liter mugs. Good beer selection and the bartenders were very cordial. Often offering to give samples when we were unsure as to what to try next. Also was able to "win" a free beer buy landing a ping pong ball into a glass boot behind the bar. Love the look and feel of Biergarten. Situated in an old City firehouse; country flags hanging from the rafters; picnic table style seating and peanuts on the floor. The night we were there they had the garage/fire doors open- bringing in even more ambience. Doesn't matter if you aren't a soccer fan/ Biergarten is clearly a "cool" place to hang out with your friends and enjoy some good brews and conversation. My favorite beer bar. There are just picnic tables around with baskets of peanut on each table and you go and sit wherever you can find a seat. The beer collection is awesome, and you can get it in small, normal, large and huge sizes. I usually go with a litter one which is the medium one. They have a huge size beer which i think is 3liter and if you think you can drink it fast, you can challenge them and get your name on the board. For each 1 liter of beer you can get a free hoffman hot dog. Keep in mind, catch-up and mustard is under the moose head ;) The best part is they have soccer goal in their urinals. So you'll need entertained w even while taking a leak. I'm a soccer fan and you can watch games here, perfect match for me. There are enough TVs around to not to be worry about your seat. read more
