I'm definitely a big sandwich guy. Whether it was Oscar Mayer bologna or PB&J as a kid, a Subway footlong, a Wegmans hot sub, or a cheesesteak from Gino's, I love finding a new spot to indulge my sandwich-lovin' self. I've had just about all the chain sandwich shops you can imagine, but strangely hadn't had a Firehouse sub before until very recently. Firehouse seems to hang their hat (helmet?) on supporting first responders and service members, and I commend the for that. Looking for a quick dinner, I stopped here to get a sub for the ride home. Right away, I was struck by all of the hot options they had on the menu. I was very tempted to go with a meatball sub but this was going to be a car dinner and no one needs a meatball on the floor or sauce on the shirt. I landed on the Sub on a Club - honey ham, turkey, bacon, Monterrey Jack, and the fixings. It took a bit longer to prepare than I anticipated but I think the wait was worth it. The bacon was freshly prepared and the sandwich was served warm - nice! The person checking me out and the sandwich maker were very welcoming and friendly. I always appreciate that at 8 pm on a Thursday night. The sandwich was excellent. Nice mix of meats, crisp bacon, and their deli mustard had a nice flavor. They have one of the Coke Freestyle machines if you like to full alchemist with your drink choices. Conveniently located on Route 11 and near a 481 on-ramp, Firehouse Subs is a nice spot to hit when your sandwich alarm is going off. read more

I rarely get out this way, but I was intrigued by an article I read that said the Firehouse New York Steamer was one of the healthiest fast-food sandwiches available. So, I ordered a small sub, and also a small of their seasonal Thanksgiving sub. I did have to wait a bit, since they only had one person making the subs, but I was in no rush. Prices seemed a bit high for the size of the sandwich, which was only 1/3 of a whole sub. But the addition of the pickle was welcome. The NY was very good, if a bit light on the meats and very bready. The Thanksgiving was similar. Next time, I would order 2 of the mediums. Since the worker seemed a bit stressed, I made sure to tip 20%. read more

Despite clearly marked hours of operation, they are never open when they should be. Good help must be hard to find. Location had employees inside, yet the doors were still locked. Management must only "work" when they feel like it, I guess. Won't attempt to go there again. Better options are out there. read more

This might be my favorite fast food location I've ever been to. We eat at firehouse roughly every other week if not once a week. This location always has great service. Have gone a time or two where they didn't have what I had ordered on the app and they made it right. Got home with my sandwiches one time and they weren't right, contacted the store and they made it right with no hesitation. Plus every single person that I have dealt with that worked there has been amazing. Always up beat and there's one guy that even knows my order now. Great food, great service, can't beat it. I've realized that Wegman's subs just weren't as satisfying as they used to be, so I decided to try Firehouse Subs. I ordered the pastrami and my partner ordered the turkey, and we liked both. We also got an order or the Mac n cheese. I liked that I could order and pay using their app, which allowed me to customize the order. I picked up the order in Firehouse Subs pickup area, which made pick up fast. I really liked the pastrami sub, which I customized with two different hot peppers. The sub roll did not overwhelm the meat. And the Mac n cheese was really tasty (and I'm picky about my Mac n cheese). I'll definitely will be going to Firehouse again, rather than going to Wegmans for a sub. read more

VERY disappointing. We are HUGE Firehouse fans and eat at them across the country. Today we went in to redeem my partner's free sub reward (from collecting points). The cashier had no idea how to do that and forced us to do the order online...it showed as having gone to Lakewood, Colorado! We started by ordering sweet tea and were told by someone else that the machine was broken but they had sugar packets by the unsweetened tea. If you know ANYTHING about tea, you know that does NOT work. We waited a VERY LONG time (at least three times as long as usual) for our sandwich...when it came out it had been prepared incorrectly and was NOT warmed up (this sandwich is ALWAYS served warm). The bread was also VERY dry and tasteless. On our way out, a worker (who might have been a manager or owner) asked us how everything was and we told them it was very disappointing compared to our other experiences with FS. His response was "Sorry." There are much better non-franchise/chain sandwich places in Syracuse...patronize them. read more

Great hot subs great service. I had the pastrami and corned beef. My wife had the beef brisket. My daughter had the smoked turkey. We all shared and each had about a quarter of each others sub. All the subs were piled high with meat. The subs are definitely meatier than subway and Jimmy john style shops. It's a pretty big sub made to order. They were all so tasty. But I will definitely say the brisket sub was so good it was like eating at a bbq joint. I will be ordering the brisket for myself next time. I used the app to place my order. The app is user friendly and let's you specify the time you want to pick up. I had a good experience using the app. When I arrived to pick up my food I was greeted upon entering. The online pick up area is clearly marked and I was in and out in less than 3 minutes. I will definitely come back and maybe try a cold sub. But that brisket keeps calling. read more

We ordered the New York Steamer that's served hot and had corned beef, pastrami, provolone, mustard, mayo, and Italian dressing. It was a good choice! I found out you can order online and just pick up your order. I appreciate that since I am often in a hurry! The cashier encouraged us to download their app to start earning rewards. Their sign outside said they donated a good chunk of money to the fire department down the street in North Syracuse. So much to like about this place. They have a large menu of signature subs that are all a bit different than the usual you'd expect; not just turkey, ham, etc. So far have tried the Hook and Ladder, Firehouse Steak and Cheese, and the new BBQ Cuban; all have been excellent. Good amount of meat on the subs and some creative topping ideas. The rolls are soft and fresh, always a huge plus for a sub shop. You get a dill pickle spear on the side, which I love. One other cool thing about this place is that you can get any size drink when you order a combo and it's the same price. Why anyone would get a small, I don't know, but you can if you choose, lol. You can customize your combo as well and get either chips or a cookie, with your soda. They also have that awesome soda fountain where you can get any type of Coke or mix & match flavors. Service here has always been quick and friendly. Definitely a place I'll be visiting repeatedly for a quick quality lunch. read more

Our first time here doing take out due to the pandemic. I ordered online and our order was ready in 5-10 minutes later waiting at the door for us. It was very nicely packaged and nothing was askew when we unpackaged the sandwiches at home. My wife and I had a medium 8 inch Hook and Ladder and medium 8 inch Club on a Sub with some no cost extra additions. Score for free additive toppings! We got them both cold as well (they originally come hot). They were both very enjoyable, delicious, savory, and well balanced. No soggy parts either, which was refreshing. Service is always nice and polite. Since all of their subs are warm it takes just a couple minutes to get your food. You can get a large for about $11. Their subs are really good but definitely a bit overpriced. I only go there every couple months once. I wish they had a loyalty program. I've never been disappointed with my food. Have eaten at Firehouse Subs probably 5 times now, so this review is more or less a culmination of my visits here. I was pleasantly surprised when I first tried them out as their selection was quite varied and tasty. Service was quick and friendly and always attentive if we needed something. You walk in, place your order and then have a seat while they prepare. They also have an app which allows you to preorder/pickup- and we frequently see folks doing just this. Sandwiches typically take about five minutes or so to arrive at your table, so the wait isn't long at all. As Firehouse was started by two firefighters- the theme and mission is to support the firefighting community. There is some local memorabilia and turnout gear on display. Firehouse also proudly notes that they contribute each month to the N Syracuse FD- a nice touch. Prices are good here for a tasty sandwich. It's a nice alternative to Jimmy Johns, Subway, Byrne Dairy and Wegmans which are all near by. read more
