    Michael's antipasto, horrible!

I have eaten at Michael's several times. I've brought family there from out of town, referred friends there. I had. Busy, crappy week... I got home late from work and hadn't had time to eat all day. I wanted something special that I knew would be great so I treated my self to Michael's Italian restaurant on Clark st. In Auburn, NY. I called, placed my order. They didn't have the soup I wanted so I got an antipasto for one and a meatball Parmigiano. After placing my order I called right back to request that they not put my cold antipasto in the same bag with hot food. Makes sense right? Guess what? I get there and there it say on a bar stool, cold on top of hot. I said something to the waitress and instead of getting me a new salad, she got me another bag. She insisted that it was just brought out. I took her word but when I got home i live less than 5 minutes away, the lettuce was warm, mushy and wilted. The cheese was melted. They put cheddar cheese instead of romano. Its horrible!! Then the meatball parm was a slice of bread with tiny, whole meatballs that taste like they bought them at Costco. I called and complained and got an argument at first. Then I talked to Fran, the owners wife?? Wheres Michael? Clearly things have changed at this one great restaurant. I was told to mention this the next time I came in but there is no next time. Tonight I scratched Michael's of of my go to list. You guys should be better than this.

So the food here is great service is good and the people are nice. Typically I start off with bread and a salad. And shortly after your meal should be there. It's hard to take a picture of your food without wanting to eat it. This place has food for adults, kids. And it's perfect. I highly recommend coming here if you need a place to go.

Just a sample of what you get.

Always a delicious entree and cocktail. Deserts are a real treat. It's conveniently open on Sundays when I like to dine out with my sister.

I literally had to scrape it out of the box, put it on my pizza stone, and finish cooking it myself -- as I live 40 minutes away. When I reached out, the owner admitted the regular cook wasn't there. Instead of stepping in or making it right, he offered to remake it with the same cook and tossed out a 10% off next time like that would fix anything. In the end, it was a $56 dinner I had to throw out, and the lack of customer care was louder than anything else. Their actions make it obvious they care more about their own convenience than their customers. The response on their Facebook confirms their lack of professionalism and customer service. Follow up: the missing four slices the owner is referring to are on the pan I used to cook the pizza. Which ended in up in the garbage as the cheese didn't melt.

Current owner Matt Barlotta bought it from Angelo in 2002, but Angelo still frequently comes in to be in the shop he started all those decades ago. I've passed Angelo's several times, but I don't live in Auburn, so I'd never stopped. Recently, some friends and I were in Auburn and were looking for some lunch. I had seen someone mention on social media that Angelo's has a pickle pizza. We all love pickle pizza, but few places have it on their menu at all times, so we decided to stop in and grab one. Plenty of off street parking on the side of the building. Small place, one table in the back and some seats at a counter to eat at. We sat at the counter and ordered 2 pizza, a pickle pizza and a pepperoni pizza. Both were made quickly, and we were eating within 20 minutes. Both were delicious and perfect as far as the way I enjoy pizza. The dough was thin, but sturdy and didn't flop around when eating, it was cooked perfectly, the cheese was slightly browned instead of just melted, the sauces (tomato on the pepperoni and garlic on the pickle) were both tasty and applied in a perfect amount, the toppings were plentiful....I really have no complaints about the pizzas at all. There were 3 employees working and all 3 of them were friendly and talked with us in passing. It came to a little over $50 for 1 extra large, 1 large and 3 drinks, which is pretty expensive, but most pizza places are expensive nowadays. I'd absolutely go again, especially when that pickle pizza craving hits.
