Decided to not cook last night and ordered takeout. I'm glad I did! I ordered a buffalo chicken salad with blue cheese and I balanced it out with french fries haha! I ordered it with mild hot sauce and it was just right. My kiddos ordered a chicken club sandwich (fried) and a Philly cheese with ribeye. My oldest said the Philly was the best he ever had. Phone order was easy and they even gave me a time to be there. Perfect! I will most certainly be going again. Maybe next time we will dine in. read more

First time eating food here! I picked up an order of Chicken Riggies and walked back to my event. I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty this dish was. It smelled so good, other people around me went and ordered food to go. They were very busy with to go orders, but the staff were very friendly and attentive. A nice place to stop in for a delicious pizza with perfectly crisp wings. Alternating weekly specials, always offer a nice twist on the dining experience. My favorites are the Louisiana pasta, chicken riggies, and Medium buffalo wings. Always plenty of beers on tapping in the cooler. Multiple wine selections as well. I have to say I was worried when we walked in. The place was slammed and a bit chaotic. Once we got seated our server, Morgan was spot on! Our food was delivered quickly considering how busy the kitchen was. Everything was very tasty as well. The only mix up was I ordered the patty melt and got the burger on a bun version. The food is great! In the picture I provided my son already started eating his onion rings so what's shown is not a full order. We showed up on a Wednesday and they were having .60 cent wings. Wings are not small. Lots of sauce. They didn't skimp on the portion size. The "build a burger" has a great variety of fresh ingredients to choose from. read more

The four of us stopped by for lunch this week for a late lunch at 1:30. The waitress wasn't rude, but wasn't friendly and welcoming. She asked where we wanted to be seated, and answered under the purgola. She we couldn't sit on the patio (guess not enough customers) and said it would have to be on the porch. Rather odd, since the table under the purgola was closer. There were no umbrellas on the tables, and the sun was directly in the eyes of one of my friends. We wanted to move the table just 3 inches, and she said not allowed. Our friends Philly steak was good, but the rest of the meal awful. The Reuben was burnt, and oil was rancid. Same for the onion rings. The bruschetta was so heavy on the balsamic vinegar that we couldn't taste the tomatoes. Should have been lighter with garlic and olive oil. No basil to be seen. No telling when we'll be passing through on vacation, but this restaurant is not worth the hype. There are better ones in Tully and Homer. read more

Met with travel friends who suggested we go here. It's a halfway meet between Cortland and Syracuse. 2pm on a Saturday we were able to get a table for 6. Warm and inviting decor with a beautiful salt water fish tank in the dining area. Looks like they have bbq grills and outdoor seating we will have to return in warm weather to try. Penne with meatballs was devoured and I was told it was as good as it looks. Pizza crust was said to be light and airy and well liked by our pizza lover. Corned beef melt was thick with corned beef, well topped with sauerkraut on a marbled rye, best had in a long time I'm told. My selection was the prime rib melt with homemade chips. Lots of tender prime rib slices, I switched the Swiss for cheddar, left off the mushrooms, has onions and a tasty horseradish sauce on sourdough bread. So much flavor and very filling I took half home. The chips were cooked crisp and fresh. Malt vinegar was available and topped off the wonderful meal. No pics but tenders and fries and Philly steak with fries were the other two meals and also very well liked. Service was great. Menu has other pastas, sandwiches, burgers, and seafood. There is a large selection of local brews, wines, and a full bar as well. Many reasons to return. read more

Sweet Basil Restaurant is such a great place to go when you are craving some warm yummy American comfort food! The atmosphere is very friendly and they have a large outdoor seating area when the weather is nice. When the weather is cold it's a great spot to go especially after a long day of skiing or hiking because they always have a steaming hot tasty meal waiting for you on their menu! This time I tried something new with the Louisiana Pasta, the cajun version of riggies with a yummy sauce and thinly sliced sausage. My favorite meals to get here always seem to be either pasta or one of the many pizza's but every time I go they never disappoint! If you're in Tully this place is somewhere you have to visit! read more

We stopped by here on the way back from Syracuse after dropping off our daughter to college. Great food. Very reasonably priced and many specials. I suggest you call ahead and make a reservation. The restaurant is only 15 minutes from Syracuse in the town of Tully. read more

Picked up some salads tonight on the way home. Called in advance, they were ready when I got there. Staff were very friendly and both of the salads were very good! We had a cob and greek salads. Cute little bar and a good size dining room. Think we will go there for a couple drinks and dinner some night. read more

The Sweet Basil is a pretty regular stop for my family (my parents live close by), the food is always delicious and the staff is friendly. The restaurant has a huge fish tank which is always interesting to watch and talk about. Really nice place to eat or get take out. read more

We were traveling and stopped in Tully for something to eat. We happened across Sweet Basil and figured we'd give it a try. We were extremely happily surprised. The salad was fresh and tasty. We were particularly wowed by the veggie lovers pizza, again all of the toppings were so fresh and it was truly overflowing with toppings!! I ordered the special scallops, bacon and Brussels sprout pasta- delish; husband ordered the 'Italian' nachos which were diced up garlic knots with sausage, pepperoni and cheese served with marinara, then he had chicken Reggie's; and son had spaghetti and meatballs! My wife and a friend had tried this place on a whim and said it was decent, and seeing as there isn't too much to eat in the Tully/Marietta area, we decided to give it a shot one night too. My wife warned me beforehand that the service wasn't great. We walked in and the place was packed. We were told it'd probably be a half hour wait, since they had a limited amount of tables because they had a 20 person party reserved, and it's a small place as it is, so we sat and waited. We were sat after about an hour, and the tables they had reserved for this big party sat empty from the time we walked in until the time we left, two and a half hours later, while tons of customers either waited to be sat at the front, or walked out because the wait was too long. Two and a half hours, these tables sat there empty while plenty of customers could've been sat and waited on in that time. Our server was very nice but seemed very overwhelmed and seemed confused by things other co-workers were saying to her. Seems like a lot of miscommunication goes on. My wife ordered fried fish, while I got a burger and fries and we split an order of wings. The food was very good. My wife loved her fish, and my burger was very tasty. Their fries were really good too. My wife and I are wing snobs, but we very much enjoyed theirs. Everything was freshly made, and came out surprisingly fast. We expected a longer wait for food after the wait to be seated, but the kitchen worked quickly. My wife's side of mashed potatoes was ice cold and she had to send them back to be reheated, but other than that, the food was great. Our server was very apologetic and seemed annoyed with the kitchen sending out cold food. Overall, the food is good, but the service seems mismanaged and could use some work. Based on the food, we'd give it another try, but we'd make reservations beforehand, and would encourage anyone else to do the same. read more

The last 2 times we were there, Philly Cheesesteak was hardly able to be chewed. Our most recent visit, the Lasagna portion was extremely small for the price. Very good food. I got one of their sea food platters, with shrimp, clams & haddock, all fried. The shrimp was large very well breaded, same with the clams.......may have been some of the best tasting fried shrimp and clams I've had. The haddock was also excellent & large. It was fairly slow when we got there but a very large party of I'd say close to 20 arrived soon after We got there, & our waitress never skipped a beat and was very pleasant and attentive. As I said, I had a sea food platter & my wife had a very large plate of pasta & etc and our bill was slightly over$30.... Awesome food, great service, great prices!!! You know how even bad pizza is usually pretty good? I'm not sure that's true here. The pizza here used to be pretty decent, and we got it a lot. Last night we got takeout and it tasted like a cardboard grocery store crust with mediocre cheese and hardly any toppings. I ate one piece. I never only eat one piece of pizza. Furthermore the lettuce in the Caesar salad was so icky and wilted in spots that I didn't feel safe eating it and had to throw it all out. And the boneless wings were mostly cold and had no blue cheese. Oof. I guess it's worth it to drive a little more to get better pizza now. read more

Doesn't Sweet Basil sound like it should be a Thai resto? Well it's not, but what it IS, is a quaint and cozy restaurant that serves Americana food. Burgers, pizzas, steaks, fried seafood platters, etc.. Reasonable pricing and a decent wine/beer list. The service is stellar here and the servers are so friendly! The food is wonderfully prepared and tastes great. The portion sizes are beyond generous. I'm talking HUGE! So make sure to come here hungry! read more

A party of 7 at 5:45 on a Thursday is never a easy thing. These guys were up to the task. Our server had a great sense of humor and was super attentive for our entire stay. We shared a appetizer sampler that was made up of jalapeño poppers, cheese sticks and potato skins. Platter was a bit small for the price. Everyone had different diner selections and we all enjoyed our selections. I had the Philly cheesesteak. The portion was good sized and the flavor was good. The overall experience satisfactory. The food was excellent, good size portions for the price. The waitress we wound up with was Jada. She came over and took our drink order, brought them out and then disappeared after giving us menus to look over. Luckily, there was another waitress who was taking care of a nearby table and saw that we were ready to order so she took our order and gave it to Jada to place. The food was delivered quickly, it was fresh and hot. However, never once did Jada return to check on how everything was or ifwe needed anything. She has no customer service skills and it's obvious being a waitress is not her thing. If you can get another waitress to take care of you while here, I would highly recommend stopping by. read more
