The one star is for the Pizza. I hate being mean here, but ye gads! The dough is ok, but the sauce is inedible. Worse, they put it --the Italian Red Sauce--on a Buffalo chicken pizza! Neither my kid nor my husband would take more than a bite. We threw the entire pizza away. We tried the buffalo pizza after having a bad experience with the pepperoni pizza, hoping that there would be no red sauce. So even though this is the closest pizza place to our apartment, I'm afraid I won't be back. I do have to say that their wings are good. Very crispy. I've only ever had the plain ones. read more

Parking is limited to the metered spots out front, or in the area. Try driving in during lunch hour and you'll be pressed for a spot. If that's the case, walk over or use (unreliable) Lowell transport. If you come later in the evening, you'll fight traffic that goes into Centralville/Dracut, but there are plenty of spots to be found. H and I were coming from Chelmsford, so it was a quick drive in traffic. H made a to-go order on Friday evening for our weekly "Pizza Party Friday Night" (a tradition we brought with us from Connecticut) for a medium pizza half mushroom, half pepperoni. I remember coming to Espresso's (or maybe it was another pizza joint in the same location?) when I was a kid. The interior is still dingy and dated... S'ok. Pretty much everything in downtown Lowell is like that. At the counter, I guess there was a mixup. The kid thought H said two mediums- one mushroom and one pepperoni and bluntly asked, "Well, which one do you want?" WHAT? You're not gonna give the pregnant lady and her H the order they called in? ... We bought both pizzas, but dang. Lack of customer service much? We brought the pizza home and it was a decent pizza overall... just wet. Like, there's a LOT of sauce for the cheese to ooze off of. Moreover, the mushrooms were meh. I think they were chillin' in that murky water too long. The pepperoni was ok- typical pepperoni pizza. I liked that the bottom crust stayed crispy though. It's often difficult to find a crusty pizza that drips sauce. I also liked that the sauce was sweet (my preference, to my H's demise) with a tart twist. I'll have to try one of the sandwiches next time I'm in the downtown area. Let's see how fresh these ingredients are. read more

Got pizza and wings. The pizza was pretty good, the wings were REALLY good. Not sure what they do differently there with the fryer, but the wings were killer. The pizza didn't knock my socks off, but it was good, I wasn't unhappy at all. The sauce is sweet as others have noted. read more

I really like this place! I see so many reviews about their sauce and people either love it or hate it. I'm a fan. Thumbs up. As a New York native, I take yelpers reviews of pizza with a grain of salt. I just keep searching for my perfect slice. With torn reviewers, we decided to try. Sweeter sauce is a staple with NY pizza. I have never made that association until I had espresso pizza, then was back in NY for a slice. Espresso is good (still not NY pizza)! The crust is way too doughy/fluffy; but that can be looked passed. I can only handle about half the crust before I say "holy crap" to the amount of dough I'm gnawing on. I don't usually rate pizza places, not because either I am an elitist or a food snob... Or maybe I am. Anyway I decided to try their grilled chicken pizza after tasting some of their pizza at a get together. I went to their location in lowell because they don't deliver. It was worth it, they use a sweet sauce and the bread is so fluffy. It's such a good pizza. Very very well priced and the person I spoke to on the phone quite pleasant. I like seeing places like this do something simple but still be very good. I will definitely come here whenever I am craving pizza. New place to come to now. read more

I don't know how you take pepperoni, Italian sausage, onions and green peppers, and make a pizza that is totally tasteless and bland, but they did it. Nothing on the pizza had any flavor, including the sauce and crust. And if for some reason you do decide to get a pizza from here, make it delivery. The place was full of smoke when I went to pick up my greasy cardboard. I had a bad experience with their Fitchburg location with an Italian sub (who puts mayo on an Italian sub?), but I thought I would give this location a shot. My mistake. It's a shame, the pizza is so soggy and it is raw in the middle, and the souse that they use is too sweet. They probably bought The bacon from some supermarket from breakfast, and they put it on a pizza without cutting. Combine it all that I said make the pizza so disgusting, my wife and I bought a large pizza that we just did a couple bites and throw it away. I was turned off initially as I ordered my phone over the phone. The person taking my order was rude with me. As I get there to pick up my order they can't find it. I get open open my pizza and it has the worse presentation of what veggie pizza with chicken should look like. I go to grab a piece and all the topping slide right off. Literally. It's was dripping oil. I've never wasted pizza but this was a big NO FOR me. Something has to get better. It was a first and a last for me. My favorite pizza in Lowell. If you like a sweet sauce, this is the place. My favorite is hamburger and mushroom pizza.

I grew up on this pizza and it hasn't changed since I was in diapers! The pizzas are huge and the sauce has a sweetness to it! Some speculate that they added Tang powder while others think orange soda, whatever it is it makes the pizza less acidic. My favorite is always a good mushroom but I always find myself ordering a sliced sausage to bring home. The sausage is sliced thin so it cooks up like pepperoni, but the taste is nothing like it! If you want to try some amazing pizza then I suggest you hit up Espressos! Fresh ingredients + homemade sauce + perfect dough = amazing pizza! read more

Good food, poor service as of late. How do they screw up so many of the items on your menu? Poor staffing with kids that don't care and fight amongst themselves. Last time we ordered Ziti with Chicken, we got Meatballs instead (didn't find out until we got home, at which point they were closed). Complained the next day to the manager and explaines how the kids working there were all yelling at one another (they had also forgotten to make another item in our order). She apologized for the error and the staff, and put down my name for a free chicken and ziti the next time I ordered. Sure enough; order tonight and not only were they still making my sub 40 minutes after i ordered it, but they hadn't even started on the chicken & ziti because they had run out of ziti (something that has happened before here)! Unreal! Of course it was the same group of kids working tonight as it was the last time the order was botched. To top it off, the place was pretty quiet, yet one of the guys behind the counter took two minutes (I was counting) to even ask if i was picking up or ready to order. We do like the pizza & food here, and on some nights (when one specific guy is working there who is an utter rock star employee) they can be really good. But since the summer staff has started, both the quality of the food and the service have gone down hill fast. Hopefully things change, but it'll be a long time before we order from here again! Went on 9/5/2021 for lunch and was immediately disappointed. We placed our order but immediately after we noticed none of the staff wearing glove or any sanitary gear to prepare orders. There was a man named frank that we watched wipe the sweat from his face and continuously use the neck portion of his shirt to wipe away his continuous sweat. He proceeded to grab meet from the fridge bare handed, grab French fries to throw in the fryer. I sat in disgust watching him handle patron food with his sweat all over his hands as he walked through the entire kitchen area. I cancelled my order once he grabbed a hand full of lettuce after stroking his hair and sweat back. I will NEVER return to this place. I grew up in Lowell and this was a place I spent several years enjoying until today. I'm grossed out. The folks that decided to eat had burnt steak subs and no care for presentation. Favorite pizza of choice in all of Lowell! :) This place was my go to place back during the high school days and still is to this day. Quick and inexpensive. The sauce is sweet, and the crust is usually fluffy (once in a blue moon my pizza crust would be slightly burnt). I specifically like their hawaiian & vegetarian pizza. Grew up on this pizza. Very good. Employers are not well presented and groomed. Place is very grimy. No receipts when you make a purchase. Pizza did taste fresh but I question how this establishment passes the board of health inspection. My guess is they are friendly with them and I am certain the board of health inspector is a regular here. I can't just isolate this place, the health inspector in Lowell either doesn't give a shit or has way too much work to handle or he's getting kick backs from these establishments. This place needs a hot soapy rag and to go top to bottom because over the past 25 years since they been here I highly doubt a rag has been used in its entirely. Honestly this is the worse pizza I have ever had. You'd be better off buying a $1 tostitos pizza. First and foremost the sauce is awful. Its sweet yet bland and really sucks. It throws the whole traditional flavor of pizza off. Next, the crust is terrible. The bottom of the crust is crunchy (just the way I like it) but the upper part is extremely thick, doughy, and soaks in that disgusting sauce. Lastly the place itself is a dump. As soon as i walked in all i could smell was a putrid mix of old mop water and wet dog. It hadnt rained that day either mind you. I got over the smell but not the taste of that awful pizza. It was cheap $1.65 for a slice of pepperoni but its not worth it. If i could i would actually give this place a middle finger instead of a star. Hope that helps. read more

Officially my favorite pizza place. Probably the best in New England. The sauce is sweet. The cheese is flavorful. The crust is doughy ever so slightly. In a sense its perfect pizza. The prices are still reasonable and beat most independent pizza places. In Lowell I used to think Suppas was king but this was far and away a better pie. read more

There is sugar in the sauce, lots of it. The pizza had a puffy big crust and was sickeningly sweet. A very unexpected noticeable flavor of sugar makes me think they buy their sauce from Macdonalds. Perhaps they pick up Mickey D's ketchup packets and slather it on to hook children? One of the worst pizzas yet although I ate a couple of slices due to hunger :( read more
