Wicked random- on a hiking trip in NH we met Cheesy workers Rachel and Drew at dinner in a hut in the middle of nowhere. While being served delightful bread and chicken-randome', we leared a bot about Wicked Cheesy and the classic take on Greek Vs Italian pizza. The Wicked pissah's are all delicious Italian-style pizzas with topping combos that are made for each other. We went with the Whitey, as another Yelpian recommended, because of the cheeses (duh!) and fresh garlic. Additionally, we read that there were beer options, and the draft/can list had several good choices, including Cloud Candy (plug: NE double hop IPA of goodness.) No soda fountain, so cooler- only options for other drinks. The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars, is that I volunteer in several organizations that have a "Native land acknowledgment" pledge. We try to include Native American history as a part of our leadership activities, as a reminder that many Native people were in spaces that are now labeled "founded by white folks" There are two logos of red Indian warrior-type heads hung in the restaurant, and even if the local school does have some reason for using Native people as a mascot, (which I was not even aware of until this visit), perhaps the logo with Wicked Cheesy Underneath could be retired? I would even pay for a new sign. Why not a Wicked Red Sox logo? Or a cow? (way more cheesy by the way). On the other hand, everyone working here was great, even if R&D were not back yet. Wicked Cheesy is a sub & pizza shop in Tewksbury. They have a nice staff, a huge menu, and get food out quickly. The place itself is pretty nice--not as dumpy as some old pizza ships. The menu is typical of most such shops today, but they've clearly expended extra effort to create a lot of unique subs and menu items to separate themselves a bit from other places. They also feature a lot of locally-themed items, which is fun. I've been there a couple of times and it was ok, but there are two problems I think: One is that the portion sizes are gigantic. I have a big appetite but still can't eat all of most of them. I know there's a tendency among these shops to make everything huge but I think there should be more moderately-sized options. And another issue with large portion sizes is that these items are expensive, even more than most shops. Many subs run $13-$17 and breadsticks are $17. You order food for a couple of people and you end up over $40. The second problem with Wicked Cheesy is the food--or more precisely the dough. Many of their items appear to be 50% bread dough. We ordered a calzone and you spend half your time chewing through bread. If you cut it and look inside, it's half dough. The filling (Italian cold cuts) was very good but there was just not enough. We also tried a batch of breadsticks. They give you ten big ones and they tasted very good (we had chicken). But, they're half dough also. The bread is very good (I'm Italian and appreciate good bread) but you soon find yourself endlessly chewing through dry bread hoping for a little nice filling here and there. I should add that the thin pizza they had out looked yummy. In hindsight, I wished I had tried that instead of all the bread. Maybe next time. read more

Interesting that the "owner" responded to our critique of their "so called service and product" with a statement "we don't sell shrimp pizzas". Now as a response to my YELP Review, the owner states that they do NOT sell Shrimp Pizza's. And what they delivered to us in Tewksbury, MA was one of the poorest revs of a shrimp pizza I've ever tasted. It was a pizza with 18 VERY tiny shrimp buried in a large pizza tasting more like "overcooked" rubber - chewy and tasteless. Kudoes to the Restaurant's owner who was doing "DEFENSE BIG-TIME. A clever effort to try and make my Review irrelevant. I'm sorry Mr. Wicked Cheesy Pizza Parlor Owner, YOUR LYING - and your response doesn't stand the test of HONESTY, quality or taste. Too bad! If people believe your responses, God help them. If the product and the service continues to deteriorate, as well as the owner continues to MAKE EXCUSES for his staff's lack of performance, it is not likely they'll continue to serve our marketplace. I like to try every restaurant once, in this case it will likely be my only visit. The turkey sandwich was tasty, but the entire meal was $4 over the posted prices on the overhead menu. They said it needed to be updated. It was $19.80 for a turkey sandwich, onion rings and a drink. That's more than a sandwich at a five star steakhouse. The crime: double dipping the onion rings in the fryer to heat up a previously cooked product. The oil soaked through the cardboard container and bag, were dark and soggy with grease oozing out. To make matters worse, they had raw batter underneath the double fried exterior. There is no way to serve onion rings any worse than this place. You know I usually love there food. But last night was a complete flop. I ordered the steak tip wrap I usually do, and another family member ordered the cheese steak bomb. Terrible. The steak was raw and the wrap was stale. My friends cheese steak was floating in grease. Unable to hold in hand. This review is for a visit made on Sunday evening, May 31st. I did not get around to reviewing until now. We got the Butcher Boy sandwich and the Newport salad. Everything was good except for one thing. The avocado they put in the salad was definitely spoiled. It was all bruised and gray and tasted rotten. I ended up having to pick out all the avocado because it was inedible. Everything else was fine. The turkey tips were cooked well and had good flavor, but sad to say that the rotten avocado ruined an otherwise perfect salad. I am including a picture here as proof. Best pizza that I've had in quite awhile! I loved the names of their pizzas and other items - definitely going to try the poutine at our next visit. The decor is fun - I would suggest taking out rather than eating in but for fun they have video games to play. I was not the best at baseball, alas. We ordered a large White Mountain pizza and it was so good. Tons of cheese, penne (!!!), grilled chicken, mounds of mozzarella on the top and alfredo sauce. We were craving pizza and decided instead of going to our favorite spot we would try out Wicked Cheesy. That was a mistake. We ordered Sid's steak and cheese and it was bone dry. No sauce, the meat was damn near flakey and the cheese tasted "stale". We might as well have just eaten styrofoam. I gotta say, being from New Jersey, I don't expect much when it comes to Pizza in New England. This pizza broke the mold and was phenomenal. Great sauce to cheese ratio, the underside was firm and took a good rip, and the crust was nice and chewy. I was so blown away that I slammed five slices, which I have not done in a long time. Large pizza had about eight large slices. Two side favorites of mine are the pepperoni and cheese bread sticks (they're more like mini calizones, Ben Wyatt) and the 'I hate the Habs' fries. The fries are like disco fries, smothered in brown gravy and cheese, really hits the spot and nothing else like it. I really like the ability to order online with Slice, it makes ordering and coming from Billerica much easier. Staff is friendly and orders are always ready when promised. This place is truly fantastic. Hole in the wall kind of place. There is a strong possibility that you might have passed by it without noticing it. Also, the place by itself is amazing, has lots of place to sit and the prices are affordable. Some of their specialty pizzas are awesome! I had a Johnny K and Jose thing with avocado on it. Come on, it is a cute name. I used to be on this crazy, obnoxious health kick all the time and would complain that with a name like Wicked Cheesy, there would obviously be nothing on the menu for me. This was true. Now I am some of the time on a health kick but have learned to enjoy Wicked Cheesy for what it is-wicked cheesy, wicked greasy, wicked fattening, wicked good. Their pizza is consistently good-never overcooked or warmed over. They offer this crazy appetizer thing that is like buffalo chicken, covered in cheese, wrapped in pizza dough that has all of the aforementioned wicked awesome qualities. Wicked Cheesy also offers a wide collection of decent sandwiches and salads that are all somewhat cleverly named after Boston or Tewksbury teams.
