Finally got to try the famous Joanie's, and it was so worth it! I got lucky and was able to get the last pie of the day (at 6pm). I would recommend calling ahead to make sure/order ahead. The buffalo chicken pizza was amazing! Good flavor chicken and ranch drizzle, definitely lived up to the hype!
2nd visit to Joanie's. Exceptional food. The pizza triumvirate, crust, sauce and cheese, combined with high quality toppings make their pizza ever so delicious. In a world of mediocre pizza restaurants, Joanie's is the standard by which others should be judged. Even getting one of the 3 main ingredients right can prove elusive at most restaurants.. I ordered the pepperoni pie. Crust is thin with a bubbled rim, offering both a crunch and a bite. Sauce is well balanced, perfect. Not too much cheese, just the right amount. Joanie's is a take out joint and service is that of a well oil machine. Pepperoni was high quality and abundant. Also tried their meatballs which were also excellent. Parking near the restaurant can be challenging, but park out back if you need to. If you are willing to walk, there is ample parking.
Gave Joanie's another try and this time it was great! The pie wasn't super charred/burned which I liked a lot. We got the pepperoni and cheese pizza, can't go wrong with these classics! Called ahead for pickup, no super long wait times like before.
I'm Blessed and appreciative that JOANIES Pizza is Kind to Me. they cooked the fries nice and crisp and very well salted. I'm thankful that they're Professionals and their service is right away. The space of the Restaurant is like that of A Business that is FAMILY Oriented I hope that their business thrives. CHRIST BLESS the Employees there AMIN.
The pizza is delicious! We got the Kickin chicken and the Ballpark. Cooked to perfection with killer flavor! Service was quick and staff was extremely friendly! Take out only so not much to say about the vibe. I like the menu on the paper, very unique.
We ate about two-thirds of the pizza right there in the car--it was that good. Ended up going back in to order another one! The pizza had just the right amount of cheese, not overloaded with sauce, and the thin crust had the perfect crunch while staying soft around the edges. Super satisfying all around. Definitely coming back!
Small family-run pizza place. I'm not from this town so I did a ton of research before picking up a pizza from this spot. Found out that they haven't done online orders since they blew up in popularity about a year ago. Called my order in on a Friday at 3:30 and was told my order would be ready in 15 minutes. Pizza was as advertised. Good "undercarriage", thin, crispy crust, perfect amount of cheese, and awesome sauce. No cannolis though, despite what the menu and online says. That's what the spouse wanted. I just love pizza so I'm all good. I'll be back again for sure.
Did you ever have pizza that was SO good, you were still eating thirds and fourths the next day? 'Cause....we just did. Ya know, I was born in NY. But I grew up in NH the majority of my childhood. And all throughout that time, as well as returning back here 3 years ago, I have never been fortunate enough to come across legit GOOD NY style pizza. Then....I happened by this place via my desperate searches on Yelp. And it became a life changing experience. What I can say about this pizza can pretty much be summed up in one word: perfection! At long last....we have found a pizzeria that gets it right. From the ultra thin crust base, to the savory, slightly spicy, tomato sauce (they even put the correct amount so as not to generate soggy slices), and brilliantly toasted cheese....*mwah* chef's kiss! These guys deserve a gold star! TWO!! I tried both pepperoni and cheese to see which I liked better and.....I never made a decision. Because I love both equally for different reasons. The cheese is EXACTLY what you'd expect from a legit NY style pizzeria. The pepperoni are plentiful, delicious, and give the pizza an extra "kick", if you're into that sort of thing. My one complaint about this establishment? The POS system is....incomplete. See, it works...if your card has tap-to-pay. Unfortunately, for SOME reason, they do not currently have Apple Pay. I know. It makes no sense to me either. Btw, I need to clarify something here. Joanie's actually has private parking as opposed to street parking (unless the parallel parking spots in the lot count). I'll have to get the Yelp "powers that be" to adjust that feature on the page. But I was really impressed with their giant pizza ovens in the back, fire a' blazin'. When you see these slices, you'll think you're getting brick oven pizza. I mean, it's damn near close. In any event, wifey and I were both very pleased and will return here for a lot more pizza take-away nights. 16 mile drive for us but....totally worth it! So, if you're a New Hampshirite who's sick of Greek style-only pizza like me (or better yet - a Chelmsford resident), this is the hot spot doing NY style pizzerias everywhere justice. I'm giving Joanie's Pizza 5 NY style cheese pies cooked to perfection out of 5.
The score is right Dave is on the money .... We put in are order cashier told me 2 hours wait I said no problem !!! we came back and the pizza was great try it for your selfs you won't be disappointed So we was 5 mins late to pick up are pizza plus I had to stop to the store to get drinks by the time we got to my friends place 30 mins passed and it was raining all that being said !!!! The pizza was crunchy and like a post card in my hand no flop at all I can't wait to go back . Two large pizza gone next time I'll get 4 pizzas to go Dave is all ways right you would never think in a strip mall . Pizza in my favorite food since I am a kid it's fun driving far places with the family but I must say I've spoiled my children with such good pizza. Domino's won't cut it anymore.
My partner and I got three 16" New York style pizzas: classic cheese, Joanie's pepperoni, and The Truth - TASTE: 4/5 - all were solid. For me, the tastiest was The Truth w its eggplant, ricotta, and hot honey drizzle TEXTURE: 5/5 - love a light, thin, and crisp pizza. Made it so easy to eat! PRICE: 4/5 - the pizzas range from $18-22. Our subtotal came to $60 SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - definitely satisfied us for lunch SERVICE: 4/5 - heard the line can get long, so we arrived at 11am on a Saturday, an hour before 12pm opening, and waited in the car. Got out to stand second in line at ~11:40am when we saw others start lining up. Joanie's opened their doors promptly at noon, we ordered at the counter, and got our pizzas less than 10min later. Staff was friendly ATMOSPHERE: 3/5 - small spot w no dine-in seating, only a few chairs to wait for your order PARKING: 5/5 - smaller parking lot bc a body of water lol takes up most of the space, but still several spots at this 83 Parkhurst Rd plaza
One of the better pizza joints. Good crust. Had structure. Held up nicely when folded. Good sauces. Cheese ratio was great. Basil toasted perfectly. Great flavor. The wait time is ridiculous. You have to order 3 hours ahead of time. But other than that. Good pizza.
Ordered and waited 10 minutes for our pizza at noon on a Saturday. There are two or three seats in this small operation to wait for your pizza, but basically this is a "get in, get out" pizza kitchen. There is no "vibe" and no place to eat there. Small parking lot. Our pizza was excellent. Light, thin, crunchy crust. Perfectly cooked. Excellent flavor and balance of cheese and sauce. No complaints there. Very good take-out pizza place.

We wanted to check this place out as it appeared on Barstool - we got 2 pizzas for takeout and they were quick to take our order over the phone (online ordering was down for the day) It took about 20 minutes to get ready which was great! The pizza was tasty and worthy of the rating it got, however it's definitely on the pricier side (these 2 pizzas were almost $45 total!!) the staff were also very friendly when I picked up the order! It's worth trying out, but unsure if the price tag can be justified to be a regular... read more
Excellent pizza- take out only. I called in a pickup order when I was in the area. I laughed when I saw the Yelp description as 'divey'- yep, in a good way. For example, the menu is written on brown paper and taped up. Clean place. But don't let that distract you from the excellent pizza. Employees were friendly and offered some napkins and paper plates so I could dine in my hotel room. We'll-deserving of Portnoy's 8.4 one bite scote. read more

Okay yes, I didn't know about this place until David from barstool sports came and said it was the best pizza he had and ate the whole box alone lol. So Thursday, I came around 12:10 and they already had a line but that didn't stop me from trying the classic pizza. Everyone in line wanted to try the pizza out but what helped was they weren't taking phone orders so that was good for everyone in line and inside waiting for their order. The spot is located in a shopping area with parking along the businesses but gets very full during lunch. Now let's talk about the pizza. The classic pizza was amazing! Love how thin it was, and how little they used of the red sauce. When biting into a slice it literally tasted like butter was mixed into the dough or red sauce. I don't know but it was sooo good and I'll be back to try other things. Be sure to give this place a try if you're craving pizza! Tip: Everyone who came in ordered at least one classic cheese so I'm sure that's the number 1 seller of pizzas. read more
Still great and probably my favorite Massachusetts pizza in its breed. I've progressed from slices to whole pies and have done so prior to the famous Dave Portnoy One Bite pizza review that made this place famous well beyond its environs. Fantastic, especially the Joanie 'Roni with pepperoni and minced garlic. Really nice blend of ingredients, with the garlic very noticeable and the tomato more than holding its own versus the cheese (that's how I like it). Portnoy made the lines longer, the waits longer, and slices no longer a thing, but plan your visit, get a whole pie and enjoy. I think it's worth it. Note: they're pretty good about forecasting the wait times, so you can do some errands and come back for pickup. read more
Like most coming in, I didn't come here until the barstool's review. As the host said "spectacular", not good, not great but spectacular really sums it up. My husband and I were able to go mid-afternoon(2pm) on a Thurs. We were expecting not to have our pizza until the evening but we were pleasantly surprised to only have to come back in 25 mins for the pizza. The place was already busy with some in line and others waiting to pick up. It's a no frills take out place. We got a classic and pepperoni pizza. The pepperoni pizza came with small slices of garlic that looks like it gets roasted with the pizza. The crust is crunchy with a nice chair and holds the pizza well. We were both big fans of the pepperoni but the classic cheese was good. Can definitely see the hype. Kind of wish I had know about this place earlier! read more

Yeah this lived up to the " Dave " hype 100%. Best pizza not just in Massachusetts but also New Hampshire Maine VT area etc. I don't care how far your drive is: you need to go here. The issue is, you won't be the only one excited to go here... place is mobbed by people daily now ever since the review. I'd recommend going around 1:45 on Wednesday for best chance at shortest wait... Also, the simpler your order, the faster you get it. Perhaps the hype will die down soon... or perhaps not! Let's hope the place continues making quality pies for as long as we live. An unexpected windfall can often lead to a rapid downfall. Try it while it lasts! read more

I'm (almost) happy I didn't know about this place til now! This place has been put on the map by Dave from Barstool Sports. I watched his review online and it sent my husband and I driving out of our way to try it. Happy to report they are taking phone orders again. I arrived at 12:40pm on Thursday and ordered a Roni and a cheese pizza. I was told 1:15pm and it was done right on time. All the workers were super friendly! The inside was packed with people waiting. There were a few chairs but no where to eat inside. We each ate a slice in the car, like monsters, and went back for another. The pizza itself was thin, crispy, and cooked to perfection. We were blown away. If you're in the Chelmsford area when they're open, you got to try this place out! read more

Wife found about this place somehow so we made a little detour on our way down to Cape Cod for the weekend and are we glad we did! Doesn't open until noon so we placed order online while at Walmart picking up a few things for our trip. We got there a little early and they went ahead and made our order, just cheese/pepperoni. This is really good pizza, I mean really, really good pizza, crust was outstanding no limp undercarriage. Highly recommend. read more

It's a classic NY crust with a thin crust with a good undercarriage (Davey Pageviews), crispy that is still slightly moist and chewy inside. Well balanced sauce with that fresh tomato rate and a hint of basil. High quality mozzarella tops it. I'm picky about my sausage and this is delicious, ground, tender with a hint of spice. It continues to be our go to for great NY style pizza. It's got more popular and can get busy. Easy to order online. Kitchen is staffed with 6-7 people tiring out an outstanding product). read more

I think the pizza lived up to the hype. Came here to see if Dave Portnoys ratings was in line and yes I absolutely agree. I had a half pepperoni and half cheese pie. The pizza was absolutely crispy and crunchy. The sauce not too sweet just right and the taste right on point. The service and prep time of the pizza was on target as the person behind the counter mentioned. Had some family members with me and they gave it thumbs up. read more

Was in the area and decided to give this place a try because of the One Bite hype. Definitely was disappointed. Thought it was just average at best. Customer service was good however. Just not for me. read more
