We went for the pizza and loved the Brussel sprouts. We ordered the Brussel Sprouts and broccolini. The broccolini came to the table charred but mostly raw. The sprouts were perfect!! Ordered the garden salad, potato/onion/rosemary and tomato base pizzas. The crust was chewy and well done. The tomato base pizza was bland. The other two were delicious. Have been a couple of times in the past and pizza was very good but on the expensive side for pizza! My latest visit left me disappointed. The pizza was beyond charred and I would say burnt. I Left most of my crust behind which was a first :( Pepperoni was minimal and for a pizza that was that well done was still floppy? Cheese pizza was solid, the sauce was the highlight - a bit sweet and savory, and the dough was slightly fluffy with decent char. The small 12 inch was plenty for 2 people with a chicken caesar salad. The crispy chicken cutlet we added to the salad was a huge portion and was seasoned well and juicy. I liked the pickled red onions and the dressing was pretty good, but they did -not- mix it well, about half the romaine was coated in huge globs of dressing. We didn't finish the Caesar due to the globs of dressing. Cocktails were okay, but lacking in presentation and not worth the price point, it's nearly the same price as a small pizza. Service was good and the space is large and trendy, but the music was very loud, so it was hard to have a conversation. We tried paying the bill with the QR code on the check, which ended up stuck on a loading wheel, so we had to flag the server down to confirm it went through. Overall the food was pretty good, but next time I'd skip dining in and do pick up for a pizza and ask for salad dressing on the side. Tried New York-style at John's and Joe's. Chicago deep dish at Giordano's. Finally got to try what is arguably the best pizza in America. New Haven-style Apizza. Thin charred crust. Perfect cheese to sauce ratio. It was everything I had hoped and wanted it to be. The oven cook looked like he took pride in the quality of pizza coming out of the oven. Took our pizza to go and at it in the car as we were headed to a bakery in Boston's Little Italy. But the place looked amazing inside and a wonderful place to dine in. Sally's is a good pizza restaurant with a modern decor. It's generally pretty busy during dinner time so I recommend making a reservation with OpenTable. A lot of the apps + drinks are pretty good. The wings and mozzarella sticks (mozzarella triangle) is pretty good. Any of the fresh tomatoes pie is my favorite pizza but the signature charred bottom on the pizza isn't my favorite so prepare for that. read more

As always, Sally's a pizza makes a good pizza however do not wait for them to tell you your order is ready. They just told me at 8:45 PM when my order was ready at the restaurant at 7:30. So needless to say, my pizza was cold our appetizer of the bobo prosciutto and dough. Freezing and hard to eat. Not pleased with Sally Service the way they run the show here in Massachusetts. First off I'll say I've been to NH Sally's a dozen times and it's phenomenal. Been here to Woburn Sally's 6 times now and there is NO comparison. None whatsoever. But Woburn is usually decent. Not great but decent. If you go here thinking you'll get the true Sally's Apizza it ain't going to happen. Go to NH. Went to Sally's Woburn for lunch Dec 31. Waited a few minutes for the hostess to come over. When we asked for a booth, we were told "sorry we don't have any clean booths right now". Imagine telling your customers that? So we walked by several clean and ready booths by the door and were seated in a back corner table. Looking around the dining room we did notice 4 other booths that were filthy. Wait staff walking all around, a manager on a laptop sitting alone in a clean booth and all completely ignoring the dirty booths. The place was very slow and quiet so not sure why tables were dirty. Also not sure why we couldn't sit in the several clean booths. They had a quiet dining room and plenty of staff available. The server took a long time to acknowledge us. When she finally did, she took our drink order and disappeared again. When she finally came back, she took our appetizer order and disappeared. This was the theme of the afternoon. Constantly disappearing and leaving us looking for her. Again, it was a quiet afternoon here - there was no need for this.  We finally got our drinks and appetizers and sat there for a long time, without service, with a table filled with dirty dishes and empty glasses. When she finally came back to take our pizza order, she didn't clear a single plate. It was honestly gross, the table needed to be cleared and she didn't take one single cup or dish or silverware away during our lunch. We even pushed everything to the corner of the table and she never took the hint. Nor did she ask if we wanted anything else to drink. She just simply did not care.  When our pizza finally came, it was practically soup. The amount of sauce made your normally crisp pizza soft and floppy. No one else's looked this way and we've never had this experience. Weird again considering it was quiet. Again, our waitress had disappeared so we spent 10 minutes waiting to tell her our pizza wasn't good. She finally acknowledged it, took the pizza and said she'd have the kitchen remake it. The replacement pizza got to us way too fast. It was very clearly a deliberate "oh you think this is too much sauce? Here's too much cheese." My Gf didn't bother trying it because it was so cheesy. I took two bites and put it down, cheesy and undercooked.  By this time, we had given up. Our server didn't care, the kitchen didn't care and we were just so disappointed we wanted to leave. We had to physically flag her down and when she came over, said she'd take it off the bill and that was that. No manager came over to talk to us about this, nothing. I've never had a restaurant crew care so little.  We paid and when we were leaving we noticed a woman sitting at one of the front clean booths on her laptop. She had been there the entire time we were there. I asked the hostess if it was the manager, she laughed and said yes. I told her to tell her she should probably get back to her job because quite frankly our experience was so bad if it had been our first time there, we'd never go back. I think if we go back we will stick with dinner time service at the bar. We usually sit at the bar and the bartenders are always on their game and we always see involved managers on the night team. Lunchtime crew, including the young female manager who didn't appear to be working all need some serious talking to. read more

I want this place to be better because it's close by, and it's New Haven-style pizza plus a varied menu of salads/apps (I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I hate how New Haven pizza spots only serve pizza)... but everything always misses the mark. The pizza is okay. The salads are mixed (chopped is decent but 90% iceberg). The fried dough app is bizarre (the dough didn't really taste like anything; prosciutto was very greasy). And fries? this pizza gave me back my spark :') we went for an early dinner and the restaurant was basically empty. we got the broccolini and the house salad to start. the broccolini was charred perfectly and the sauce that came with it was so delicious that we saved some to dip the pizza in. the salad was so large, it felt like a whole entree on its own. it did have some raw mushrooms so I wish the menu said they would be raw and not cooked. the dressing on it was nice and light. the pizza!!!!!!!!! it was the star of the meal!! the waitress suggested we get the large for two people to share but it was ginormous. we measured and it was about 18 inches in diameter, so it can definitely feed more than 2 people. the potato slices were so good and the rosemary gave it such a nice fragrance. we added sausage to it too. we had so many leftovers from this meal so it'll feed you for another few days. the crust didn't get soggy even after reheating! the restaurant has a really cute vibe and saw they had a frozen marg machine so I can't wait to come back during the summer to try those out! read more

I will eat here every time I come to Boston or to New Haven near the original location !! Absolute must to check out the ambience and service at this new location, (which is only been around a year and a half) is awesome great vibes and incredible pizza. The pies came out, so thin, so light, Crispy and tasty--a New Haven delight. Now Grandma pies from Long Island are mine, But still, this pizza was simply divine. The cheese wasn't greasy, the service was sweet, Friendly folks brought our food right to the seat. My daughter declared, with a grin that was good, "It's yummy, it's tasty, it's pizza!--It's good!" We watched the Ryder Cup, what a scene! Bryson drove Bethpage's hole number one green. That's where we were married, oh what a surprise, A memory baked right in front of our eyes. Two things to know: 1. These pizzas are supposed to be charred/blackened. I like that, but if that's not your thing, save yourself the aggravation and choose another pizza joint more aligned with your taste. 2. First visit to Sally's Apizza (Woburn MA) after several visits to the original in New Haven found easy parking and modern, spacious digs with decor reflecting both the New Haven history and some Boston flavor in framed albums by the Cars (a local 1970s-80s group most customers probably never heard of, but nice touch). Tables, booths, hightops, bar. Lots of windows. Open view of the pizza oven on the way in. Not sure if it was my hit-them-when-they-open strategy, but the quality certainly held up to the original in New Haven, with the thin-ish blackened crust grabbing maximum flavor from the coal oven and the tomato sauce intensely bright. Crisp, light, bendable, with nice chew. Toppings (onion and sausage cupped liked pepperoni) were more than adequate. Definitely pricey though, as the medium pie seemed closer to a small and the base price of $24.50, after two toppings adding $8.50, became a $33.00 pie. Still loved it, and still worth returning, if perhaps a little less often than I thought. Brussels sprouts app impressed, with garlicky, tart, and sweet flavors. My wife's pasta dish (appetizer size) had perfectly cooked pasta with a spicy Vodka sauce and fresh parm on top. Service was very good and the server and management were all welcoming. read more

Everyone is going crazy over New Haven CT style pizza. Frank Pepes and Sallys both turned into chains in recent years expanding into massachusetts. I dont like Frank Pepes. As a result I had low expectations for my first time at Sallys.. big mistake. The tomato pie is my jam. Its delicious. The crust and the sauce blow Pepe's out of the water. I been to original in New Haven and the pizza here is almost as good as. The private equity take over and expansion has done a good job on ambiance with a relaxed atmosphere. Quite organized with takeout and dinning in. Servers are well trained. Recently ordered the eggplant parm dinner. Was not like a real Italian would do. 3 pice of circular eggplant with cheese topping with so so dry pasta included. They need to stop by mortadella head, Rino's and Meridian food market or just sub contract out to them. For fresh pasta just go to wholesalers like Deano's pasta in somerville and upgrade with their pesto sauce. New private equity owners don't seem like typical private equity burning employees and customers but no real Italian in his right mind were serve the poor excuse for eggplant parm and pasta. I give it a 6 1/2 out of 10 stars the sauce was extremely bland no flavor. I thought the pizza crust char was very good. I'll give them that not enough enough cheese on the pizza to give it some flavor and I thought overall it was very disappointing and way way overpriced. I paid $22 for a small pizza which if I was going anywhere else it would be the size of a large because they're large pieces are way oversized. I am no stranger to New Haven apizza. When I lived in the Elm City, Pepe's was my go-to. When they franchised, I tried to stay loyal, but their pizzas outside of New Haven are "meh." Actually, less than "meh." There's something about the crust at Pepe's that makes it really hard to chew and leaves the inside of my mouth all scratched up from the hard bits. So, when Sally's started franchising, I was not optimistic. I expected, at best, a diminished version of the New Haven experience. Instead, I found my new favorite spot. The pizza crust is perfectly thin, with the right amount of both crispness and chewiness. It goes down easy, isn't filling, but is totally satisfying. The other dishes, from the eggplant parm, chicken parm, handhelds (which are flatbread sandwiches made with their famous pizza dough) are all 10/10. This place is fantastic. Only downside is that the decor is kind of generic. Pepe's franchises look like glow-up versions of the original New Haven spot. Sally's has opted for an upscale Applebee's vibe. But do NOT let that discourage you. This place--to use a technical term--slaps. read more

Made a reservation because I figured it was still new enough to be insanely coveted. Unfortunately, a reservation doesn't seem to mean much. Seated 45 min after the reservation, at which point the waiter said it's an hour wait on pizza so you might want to get your order in quickly. The waiter was actually the best part. Friendly guy. Very on point with refills. Good dude. The meatballs were way too salty. I'm not sure who was heavy handed with the salt but it wasn't needed. Way too much. Pizza comes in 3 sizes. Even the small one can be alot if you're not a big eater. Tried the tomato pie and the white clam pie. Both were cooked nicely. The bottoms were crispy not burnt. I enjoyed them. Cannoli pie was a welcome dessert given how salty the meatballs were. I did enjoy this dessert alot. It's not as good as a real cannoli but definitely gave me cheesecake factory vibes. If I lived close by this might be my joint for take out pizza. You need to love a little char on your pizza to like this place. Fortunately I do. The menu has some Italian dishes other than pizza. I was thrilled to FINALLY make it to Sally's first location outside of CT! They had so much press when it was first opened that it was impossible to get a spot without having to wait for several hours, but FINALLY I scored an early dinner reservation! Our server was super nice and familiarized us with New Haven style pizza and what Sally's is known for. We started with the garlic bread and the caesar salad. The garlic bread is ETHEREAL. Perfectly crisp. Doused in butter and packed with garlic and it came with a cloud-like pesto ricotta sauce and a marinara to dip it in. I can't say enough amazing things about the garlic bread. It quite possible is my favorite in MA. And if you're nut-free like me, this location told me there's no pine nuts in the pesto. Score!! Caesar salad was light and bright with the pickled red onions and helped refresh our palates for more garlic bread. For pizza, we got the classic Mozzerella Tomato pie and the white potato & rosemary pizza. Truth be told, we were so hungry I didn't get a picture of either pie. Ooops? My favorite was the white pie because of the rosemary. While I enjoyed the classic red pie, ultimately I wish I got more cheese. The sauce is delightful, but I'd prefer a touch more cheese. I went there to have a pizza with Garlic and basil on a Saturday at 11:30 AM when they opened up. I was seated as soon as I walked through the door and my order was taken promptly. Loved this. Let me tell you what I didn't like. The pizza arrived lukewarm. The garlic was good, but was in clumps on the pizza-- no real attempt to spread it across the pie. Basil was nice and fresh, but applied after the pizza was cooked. Not sure I would go back anytime soon because at $30 for a pizza for 2 should be a great experience, especially from one of New Haven's best pizza restaurants. The other is Frank Pepe's. Let's now talk about the alternative-- Frank Pepe's in the Burlington Mall. I had the same garlic and basil pizza the week before and it was amazing. The same pizza had a little OVOO that worked beautifully with the garlic that was, yes, evenly dispersed on the pie; the basil was in smaller pieces and was cooked beautifully without burning it. Heard about this pizza place. It's located in an outdoor mall in Woburn. Since I like pizza was anxious to try. You have to make a reservation to get in. No walk ins. Wasn't sure why because most restaurants don't require reservations only. Well pizza is mostly on the menu. They have a few Italian dishes like chicken Parmesan, eggplant Parmesan, and ravioli to name a few. They have appetizers, salads and also offer a few deserts. I was with my friend so we shared a medium sized fresh tomato pizza. The prices are kind of high for the food. Well the pizza is just alright. Nothing fancy, it's kind of burnt. I wouldn't say I'm anxious to come back. You do wait for the food. Took about 25 minutes we were told and that was about right. Not sure why so long. The waitstaff are fine. They seem to be standing around talking. I had to make eye contact to get refills on my drink. They do bring water and leave a bottle or two at the table. The waiter didn't ask us how the pizza was or if we have eaten here before. I found it funny because a waiter in training asked some people and seemed so helpful to them explaining what they have. Anyways, the restaurant is clean, looks nice but the way they have the tables so close is strange because they serve the pizza on a fold up table they place by the side of your table. We had a large party next to us snd our waiter was placing the table for our pizza right by that party. I told him to put on other side since people would get up and might knock out pizza on the floor. He put it on the other side. The party next to us had a wait time of 45 minutes so they declined their food and just had drinks. Walking out I saw the kitchen and realized it was very small. Hence the reason probably for long waiting time. So beware. We came right before the dinner crowd. It does get busy . Again, not in a hurry to come back. Maybe when shopping and I want a pizza, I would look for some place else with less wait time for a more tasty, less expensive pizza. read more

I had high hopes for this place as I had heard decent things from collegues (maybe the original?). I was very disappointed with the experience I had here. We went in at around 3:45 on a Saturday and were seated 50 minutes later (wait time was supposedly 30 minutes). The place didn't have many people waiting so it was weird how long it took, but we soon found out why. We placed our order (after about 20 minutes of waiting)with the waitress who was excellent, but definitely juggling many more tables than she should have had to service. We received our appetizers pretty quickly. The fried mozzarella was delicious and so were the meatballs. The only criticism here was the 4 tiny meatballs we got with mediocre amount of sauce and a thin slice of focaccia for $15. Not worth the price. The pizza which at most other pizza joints takes a few minutes for some reason took 40+ minutes to come out after the apps. I have no idea why the pizza took so long, but this is likely the reason for the long wait and what do we get for a 40 minute wait and $25? A pretty mid pizza. Uneven cuts, uneven and a small amount of sauce and cheese and maybe 10 slices of pepperoni for a half cheese half pepperoni medium pizza. Not much flavor, dry spots, and the long wait, I didn't even eat that much of this pizza since I had no more appetite. Being seated in a corner with the oven smoke collecting around me burning my eyes and irritating my nose didn't help either. I rarely make negative reviews of any spot, but felt so robbed. This was not the fault of the waitress who was very nice and checked on us a few times. The place as a whole seems to get plentiful business but with many poor experiences. The pizza needs quality control and to come out faster. Ive had many better meals around the area with way more bang for your buck and with better quality. I have literally had better pizza from a small corner store in West Philly for less than half the price of a pie here. I do not recommend this location and am fearful to try any other location unless things are actually different. Was a huge let down. read more

As someone from CT who has been accustomed to new haven style pizza, it is not as good as the ones there however it blows most other Boston pizza spots out of the water in my opinion. The lunch deal is great, you can get a standard sized any pizza for $15 with a drink included. The veggie pizza and potato pizza will always hold my heart. Hubs and I have been wanting to try this place. Been seeing a lot of this place on social media and finally getting a chance to try it. We got here right after they opened and got immediately seated. The restaurant is incredibly elegant, with a large bar wrapping around the front of the restaurant and tables of all sizes covering the floor. We sat at a tall table with plush beige booths and it had white glass plates that resemble the paper plates you'd see in a pizzeria. All of the tables had these plates as well and on the walls were framed memorabilia from The Cars. We ordered the following: Arancini- nduja-risotto, mozzarella, pesto-whipped ricotta. Daughter liked it a lot and wished there were more. LOL. Wedge Salad- charred tomato, Grana Padano, crispy pepperoni, red onion, grilled bread crouton, pepperoni parmesan dressing. We all thought this was nice and refreshing on a hot day and liked it a lot. Small New Haven Original Clam - mozzarella, fresh clam, fresh garlic, parmesan. Hubs had clam pizza before and was hoping that this would wow him. He wasn't crazy about it. I liked it a lot. I never thought I would like clam pizza. To each their own. Large Basil Burrata-Sally's tomato sauce, mozzarella, salami nduja, red onion, diced sweet and hot peppers, hot honey, pecorino. Daughter liked the clam pizza but said that the burrata pizza was better. She loved that this is saucy. She's a tomato sauce girl at heart, so this pizza reigns supreme for her. Hubs said that this was easily one of the best pizzas he ever had. We're not hot honey fans but this was good. I love that there's plenty of parking outside and no need to find parking.
