Look- I usually like Sals and I have ordered wing there countless times. I bring my kids into the shop for slices and garlic knots. Today, I got the most absurdly tiny wings I have ever seen in my life. $11 for 8 wings and they are as small as a quarter. The company probably orders by the pound, so you would think they'd say, "whoops. We appreciate our customer's patronage so we tossed in a couple extra here." Nope. When I was a wee lad, Sal's pizza was the highlight of elementary school and I swear, I thought cheese was the only flavor of pizza! Naturally, I ordered a cheese pizza and a buffalo bbq pizza slice. They were both a little hard and hard to chew as well. My niece actually just picked at her pepperoni because she wasn't able to bite through or eat the dough. The buffalo bbq was pretty interesting because it mixed my two favorite flavors, bbq and buffalo. Boston's pizza is relatively mediocre compared to NYC or mid-Atlantic neapolitan pizzas such as Vetri's. Sal's is one of the few tasty exception even though it's not Neapolitan style. I'm really sad that the one in Woburn closed so I had to drive all the way to Chelmsford to pick up Sal's pizza. It was totally worth the drive though. The crust is crunchy outside but airy inside, the sauce & toppings are really fresh. They do a great job with serving simple tasty pizza and garlic knots, bonus w/ friendly staff. Driving home was tortured because I'm sure my car would smell like infused pizza for the next 3 days. read more

3 years ago I used to go here a lot. With my coworkers. Yesterday however, now that we're returning to the office I wanted to have Sal's Pizza. When I left I still wanted to try Sal's Pizza but was unable to because nobody acknowledged my existence and I walked out after 5 minutes. There was one worker who saw me but didn't acknowledge my existence by saying somebody will be with you in a minute or alert the associate at the register that they should acknowledge me or tell me they'll be with me in a moment. As a result after being completely ignored I put on my sunglasses and walked back out. There was not a single employee that even said oh sorry sir... This was at 1:00 p.m. so just at the tail end of the lunch hour. Went here at 1:00 on a Sunday afternoon - service is INCREDIBLY SLOW. Slow at the register, slow prepping, slow giving the order. June 21 2024, and "every" single table is dirty. there's a trash can on the counter where the straws are. the soda machine is broken and flooding the floor. the rug in front of the soda machine is drenched. the bathroom is absolutely distudying. sink is filthy. toilet backed up and covered in urine. all of the benches are dirTy. I have no idea why this place has a 3 star rating. Had their pizza last night and it's the best pizza I've had in years. And I eat a lot of pizza. Not mushy, extremely crispy, and their tomato sauce is amazing with actual chunks of tomatoes and a rich flavor, sweet but not too sweet. Cheese is amazing. They're only getting the two stars for the friendly hard working high school kids behind the counter. When ordering your pizza they turn the register flat touch screen toward you to sign for your cc , the first prompt asks how much you want to tip.. SERIOUSLY!!?? Ridiculous!! The screen was so dirty I didn't want to touch it. $42 for two 19" pies, & garlic knots- that the girl forgot to give us but thankfully one of the boys came around and gave them to us as we were leaving. So I guess cold balls of dough are better than none. We went to sit and wait and most of the chairs and tables were dirty. We got a half cheese and pepperoni and it was bland with no flavor and luke warm. This pizza is fire...I ordered a slice of the veggie pizza, which was soooo large they cut it in half. I was a vegetarian on this particular day . We stopped and saw Sals, couldn't walk past. The lovely lady that assisted me with my order was a darling heart, which made the pizza all the more better. Unfortunately I was super hungry and just ate my pizza so I don't have a visual for you . I ordered two slices of pizza and a few garlic knots for me and one other person. The pizza we ordered was already made and on the display shelf, same with the garlic knots. We had to wait a very long time and when we checked the employee burnt the pizza after forgetting about it warming it up.There were five other small parties across the restaurant and everyone was waiting for their food. They are very understaffed (with three employees) we had to wait for the employee to cook another pizza which took over 30 minutes. It's not fair to the employees they have to account for tons of online orders and in person orders while understaffed. Which results them having trouble keeping all of the orders straight. The employees kept asking what orders others in the restaurant had gotten while managing online customers coming in for their food. She gave us three extra garlic knots as compensation and provided a refund. Though, it took a long time to get one because she couldn't find the order in their system. She said they're swamped with orders in person and online so it's hard to keep track. Sal's should get more staff and prepare them better cause it's a lose-lose for everyone when orders cannot be properly completed. My issue is not with the employees. This is a problem with the company that they are leaving a busy restaurant understaffed while they are blooming with business. Plenty of parking in a large plaza. You walk in to a clean open seating arrangement. As you walk up to the counter , you are greeted by pleasant workers, which is number 1 for me. There a good selection of pizza made to choose from if you just want a slice. We got a few slices and a salad. The sauce on the pizza tasted kind of off compared to the other times we ate there. Other than that, love this place! There plenty of other good stuff as well and should not be disappointed if trying something different. There's plenty of TVs around to catch the Sox on while you eat. If you want good pizza and don't want to worry about parking, this would be the place to go. read more

They're lunch deal for a slice and a small drink has recently went up to $7 and that is why I'm writing this review. It's no longer a good value. For another couple dollars I'll go to another pizza place and get a whole pizza that's made to order and not just reheated. After very many visits, I think today's will be my last. This place is another great work-day lunch destination in the area -- they're fast, with plenty of seating, inexpensive and tasty. They also make it a point to have a variety of pizzas ready around lunchtime, so you're not limited to pepperoni and cheese with more cheese if you're looking to pick up a quick slice. The pizza and calzones aren't gourmet, but are well above average, and portions are HUGE -- I can never finish them by myself! The crust tends towards thin, which is fine by me if it means I don't have to ingest half a loaf of bread disguised as a slice of pizza. Not exactly a fine dining experience (yes, they have disposable plates and utensils), but a good no-fuss option for a quick lunch, or a couple beers and pizza with the boys/ girls (yes, they also have beer!). The gentleman said the food truck only does small size or large pizzas, so I went with a small Hawaiian. If I was at a store a slice bigger than this pizza and Pepsi would cost me half the amount. These wings were absolutely perfect, crisp and crunchy on the outside and hot and moist on the inside. We usually don't go to commercial pizza places, but when we do we go to Sal's! Something about Sal's crust and sauce. The only downside to this location is their customer service is inconsistent. I used to love Sal's, and it's my go-to pizza, but this recent experience makes me question if I will return. I ordered a 12" cheese pizza and a garden salad w/chicken (for an uncharge). It was delivered through Grubhub after tracking the driver sitting idle at the restaurant for 30+ minutes. I've ordered a 12" pizza from Sal's before and this was considerably smaller. I placed a ruler over the pizza and the box wasn't even 12"!!! As far as the salad is concerned, it was a basic garden salad and I chose to add chicken. To me that meant chicken breast, chicken kabob, some kind of plain or seasoned chicken. I received a dollop of chicken salad on my garden salad! I do not eat mayo, especially in my salad, and it also had walnuts, cranberries etc in it. I steer clear of walnuts too! If I had known this was a chicken salad scoop and not a chicken breast I would never have chosen this. There is no disclaimer anywhere on the menu indicating that "add chicken" indicates add chicken salad w/walnuts. This is dangerous to those with allergies. Luckily for me not eating walnuts and mayo is a personal preference, but in a nut free home this could go terribly wrong. Do better, Sal's, and fully disclose what people are getting. If it's a scoop of chicken salad, say it! If it's a kid's pizza, say it! Oh, and you could have at least sent the dressing with the salad, I gave it to someone who could eat it, but dressing would have been nice. read more

Very friendly service. The cashier, Lindsay, suggested a few of her favorites. We tried the Sweet Chili Chicken pizza and the Spinach Tomato Feta. Both were good. the crispness of the crust was just right! We also had Sal's bomb Sub. That was good too.
