Been getting candy from Mrs Nelson's since I was a kid and it always stays consistently excellent. My most recent visit was for Valentine's Day treats. A small store they had social distancing protocols in place to manage the crowd. It was a little sad to see the floor displays empty but this was so they could provide you personalized service rather than just randomly browsing the store. On this trip it probably saved me from buying too much candy as I literally become a kid in a candy store wanting all my favorites. The candy itself is always excellent and it is consistently high quality old fashioned favorites. This is a store to go to get nicely made delicious chocolate. They had items for children and adults alike and is a go to place for locals for all candy related holidays with a continuing rotation of seasonal favorites. I would share pictures but this gift was eaten before I thought to take a picture. :) Maybe next time! read more

Went there last Christmas very disappointed. I was buying a lot of candy. But some were less then a half of pound. They wouldn't box it for me. And they weren't polite about it. There aren't many candy stores around but I will look harder than Mrs Nelson. read more

As a little kid, our sister's Godparents always got her Easter Basket from Mrs Nelson! As we got older, some of us "found Mrs Nelson" as well! Recall Mom 1st entered a Nursing Home and an aide helped her (as she was confused when 1st there). Mom asked me to get the aide a box of chocolates from Mrs Nelson ($10 box) for helping her. That was years ago ... and I always marvel that they are still that price! Our daughter lives now in NC and I send chocolate (large and small boxes) from Mrs Nelson to her at the Holidays ... all her friends (and a friend's daughter) absolutely love them!!! My daughter's fav (besides the chocolate) is the "black jelly beans" ... while hubby enjoys the "colored jelly beans." And everyone is always so friendly every time I visit!!! read more

My friend lives in Plymouth, MA and I live in LA, CA. The big deal in Plymouth is to get See's Candy shipped all the way across the country. When my friend came for a visit in October, we asked her what is her favorite chocolate candy. (Thinking that's what she'd get for the holidays.) We were surprised to hear it is corn cakes and old fashions, definitely not a CA thing. It was a special treat her grandmother used to bring when she visited. My friend thought they weren't made anymore and had no idea where her grandmother bought them. So ofcourse we did a web search and found Mrs Nelson's Candy House in Chemsford, where grandma used to live so many years ago. The website shows corn cakes and old fashions out of stock, what a disappointment. However, just last week I emailed them asking if it was possible to order them and have them shipped to my friend in Plymouth, MA. Got a very nice reply and was told to call their customer service line. Yesterday got a text from my friend with pictures of her corn cakes and old fashions smashed on top. We sent her 20 of them and I don't believe she is going to share! Just wanted to recognize the amazing customer service and to thank the staff for bring back a wonderful childhood memory for my friend. I have leaned my lesson, if I want to send chocolates to my friend only Mrs Nelson's corn cakes and old fashions will do! read more

My favorite specialty chocolate retailer now sells pineapple caramel chocolates! I had to have one with my coffee on the road and it was as amazing as I had hoped that it was going to be. Other chocolate connoisseurs at the shop also noticed the new offering and added to their purchases of their favorites. read more

Great shop~! I was able to get the chocolate covered patties that I like so much and had my grandkids pick out their faves! Nice selection of candy all around and very helpful counter staff! A great experience! My second time being there as I live close to Cape Cod, but whenever I am traveling north, I hope to stop in. Definitely worth it! read more

Best candy in the city of Lowell. My family's been going there for over 50 years never disappoints.

I love Mrs. Nelson's! Been going here for years and their chocolate is very high quality. I just noticed recently they updated their exterior sign by the street and it looks awesome. I really hope this place is always in business. The chocolate is a perfect treat and or gift for the holidays/a special occasion. read more

This store has been around since I was a kid and it is one of those small but nicely laid out chocolate houses. Pricey but then the location is right next to rte 3 so pulls in the travelers. Try the variety boxes so you can sample a lot more- who doesn't like chocolate ? read more

This business has been a staple in my life. I have never been disappointed. All the chocolate I bought for Easter was a huge success. Everyone had some and everyone loved it!I would suggest never buying mass produced chocolate and get some real chocolate for special occasions. read more

Highlight being the RUBY Chocolates. yes they have them. Its a bit tart however interesting to have a newer version of chocolates after Milk, white and the dark ones. They are so ready for the holiday season. Lots of options and their boxes are available in different options. The assorted boxes come in different varieties and they are delicious. A big thumbs up from kids and seniors alike. Friendly staff and you'll not leave empty handed. Maybe this is going to be my favourite store to pick up chocolates in the area. read more

An absolute institution. Ive been eating chocolates from here since I was a toddler, and they have the best milk chocolate Ive found so far. I ask my friends in Chelmsford to ship it to wherever I live, it's just that good! read more

Mrs. Nelson's has the best chocolates! Try the resberry creme...mmmmm. And at Easter time they have giant rasberry, vanilla, and buttercreme eggs! It's a chocolate lover's dream! The store is really cute, and you can see the kitchen in back where they make everything. read more

While I can't say that I've actually been inside the store in probably 5 years... I will say that I received a small box of dark chocolate salted caramels from a client at Christmas and OMG were they phenomenal! I sent her a note thanking her for the treats and that they were my absolute favorite so being the sweet lady that she is, she brought me another small bag on her next appointment. I savor each one and will truly be sad when they run out... Then I will have to go myself to restock and honestly probably won't even pay attention to most of the store. I will have tunnel vision searching for those caramels that have now become my nightly treat. read more

Mrs Nelson's Candy House - Dark chocolate salted caramels.. So so good - Candy Stores Near Me - Chelmsford, Massachusetts

My boyfriend and I saw their sign off the highway and had to stop in. Needless to say, it was worth the stop! The owner is the sweetest woman and you can tell she took pride in the shop. The chocolate was delicious and we'll definitely be back. Reasonable prices and wide variety to choose from. read more

Disappointed. Went to pick up some fudge and non pareils ?(sp). Everything said they were open until 8pm. Got there at 7:25. Locked up tighter than a drum. read more

I love this place. Absolutely LOVE this place. The chocolate is very good. You can buy boxes of chocolates and chocolate novelties (they also have other candy there too) or indulge and pick out chocolates from their glass cases. Or buy boxes of chocolates AND chocolates from the glass cases! Why limit yourself? This store is like an old fashioned candy store and not to be missed. read more

I'm so disappointed. I and my family have been going to Mrs Nelson's for decades, as long as I can remember. The chocolates have always been delicious. I received some chocolates at Christmas, including the non pareils and I just cannot believe how terrible they are. They used to be my absolute favorites! The dark chocolate is not like their old dark was, and these are so thin and taste almost stale. I'm just heartbroken that this old standby has let the quality slide so far :( read more

LACKING CUSTOMER Attention --- I stopped at Mrs Nelson's for some chocolates. I was greeted when I walked in, but that was it. There were 2 girls behind the counter, but they did not look up to help me or even ask if I wanted something. They kept busy packing boxes to sell or fulfill orders or something. another customer ahead of me was also waiting on them and had to verbally ask who would help her. I did not ask for help, no one seemed to care about me, so I walked out. I was disappointed because the cherry cordials are to die for, but more money in MY pocket, I guess! read more

Mrs. Nelson's doesn't have the greatest candy across the board, but they have a few keepers. I love the milk chocolate pecan turtles and the chocolate "bark". The fudge is a little grainy and corn syrupy. As someone else mentioned, stay away from the stuff they don't make in-house. Gummy bears are overpriced and stale. Just go to CVS or Market Basket if you want Gummy bears. If you order something from the cases, as opposed to picking up a box of chocolates already made up, be sure to monitor the person filling the box. A few times when I've failed to monitor them, they gave me the wrong thing. Instead of milk chocolate turtles with pecans, they gave me dark chocolate. Another time they gave me the ones with cashews instead of pecans. Oh, if you're old enough to remember Bailey's hot fudge sundaes, you might like to know that Mrs. Nelson's bought the recipe for their hot fudge sauce and sell it here. You'd think they'd make a bigger deal of it than they do, but you kinda have to know where to look. If you poke around the shelves right next to the checkout area, you'll see some of those squeezy plastic bears that usually contain honey. In this case they have hot fudge sauce and there's an old Bailey's box hanging over them. If you can't find it, ask. The staff has always been pleasant to me, even when they're busy. read more

I have been shopping for candy here for years (many, many) . I am a chocaholic but ration myself to 2 per day. I usually shop at Ms. Nelson's once a month and also extra shopping for Christmas and Easteer for presents and other times for birthdays. Joan P. Carlisle MA read more

Went there for the first time today, I was overwhelmed with the volume, greeted as "Sir" (I'm a woman). I said I needed some chocolate for fondue, she gave me a lip curl and said, "what's that?!?!" I decided to go with plain milk and dark chocolate, the dark is good, the milk is too sweet, tastes pretty much exactly like Cadburys. The fondue turned out amazing, in spite of the bad customer experience. read more

As we've gotten to now Chelmsford, we were struck by Mrs. Nelson's Candy House. A blast from the past, a bygone of earlier days, has survived into the 21st century. Coming here from California, I miss my favorite chocolates, especially some of the offerings of Sees. So, we thought we'd give Mrs. Nelson's a try. The interior is old fashioned; looks like it was last updated in the 50s. Chocolate and candy abound. We looked around at the vast offerings and ended up getting a half a pound of what we thought looked good. The folks we chatted with looked like they could be Mrs Nelson (or her sister), sweet and pleasant ladies. Overall, the chocolate was pretty good, some pieces better than other. Since I tend to like darker chocolate, I thought their milk chocolate was too sweet. The coconut and creme feelings were quite good. We are thrilled to have Mrs. Nelson's in our back yard; we look forward to sharing local goodies with friends and family in PA and CA. read more

Yes, pricey, but it's better than the chocolate made in China. Or the chocolate that is shipped from somewhere else in the country only to show up with white marks on the chocolate denoting it's been stored improperly. The holidays are the busiest. Great opportunity to chat up the others waiting in line with you. Valentine's Day is the worst, with a cop to direct traffic and help you back out of your parking spot. Yankee Magazine seems to always have their ad in it. Every holiday has a box of Mrs. Nelson's candy in it. read more

I thought I knew good chocolate, but here it is taken to a new level! Anything & everything I've purchased here has been outstanding. I've given their chocolate as gifts knowing it will be well received. The staff are very helpful should you need assistance making a decision. Some of the candy is already packaged. The counters feature all types of chocolate so you can put together your own assortment. read more

These young girls that work there need to go find a new job I HATE BEING RUSHED and there was only one other person in there like WTF, I will go back though a few pieces were good I used to work back on the 90s for a major chocolate Co. and I have a feeling this chocolate sits a while some pieces I got weren't that fresh I will go back one day read more

Pros: Nice and friendly service, large selection, tastes good. Cons: Kinda pricey compared to other comparable chocolate shops, hard texture (wish it was more creamy). read more

My dad used to take me here when I was little. I have not been for several years. It is very cute and they have amazing candies. Their fruit slices are especially good. However, the last time that I went here, one of the employees was so rude that I walked out of the store crying. I have not been back since then because I do not want to repeat that experience. read more

Went to Mrs Nelson's Candy House for the first time yesterday! The first thing that hit me when I walked through the door was the delicious smell of chocolate, it was incredible! I bought a 1 pound box of half vanilla creams and half strawberry creams, they were incredible! We also bought two chocolate covered twinkies to try, uhmmm have to say it was YUMMY! I will definately be making a return trip soon, I just want to make sure I am not hungry when I go in there! I wanted one of almost everything! read more

My favorite candy has been raspberry fruit slices from Mrs Nelson's for more years than I can count. My sister always gets me several pounds of them on birthdays and holidays and I am always so happy to get them. This year, she again bought the fruit slices for me and had them sent to me in Florida. They are just awful. Eating one is like eating a cup of sugar and there is no temptation to have more than one. They must have changed the recipe or changed suppliers because they are inedible. The sugar on them crunches when you bite into the slice and instead of having a tart flavor the slice tastes like nothing but more sugar. Never again! read more

Great store, surreal amusing feeling when walking inside the store for the first time, it is strange because I had passed by this place without going into the store for almost 21 and a half years. Dissapointed with customer service, brunette lady at the service counter deserves a grade F for attitude towards customers.Did not feel like a guest. When walking into the store for the first time felt like a anonymous person getting stares like you are walking down the streets in an unknown neighborhood. read more

This place is adorable. I have been a fan of Mrs. Nelson's since I was a little girl. I grew up about a 7 minute drive away and it was our family's favorite place to get a treat for a special occasion. Even though we are grown and have moved away, we still stop in from time to time when we are in the area. My youngest sister and I visited a couple weeks ago. You feel as though you are walking into your gram's dining room. The ladies behind the counter are hysterical. I think they were both in their 60s/70s. I could see an older gentleman in the back kitchen working a chocolate coating machine. It smells heavenly in there. Don't expect modern boutique flavors. Just good, old fashioned candies and chocolate and plenty of it. They have a vast variety of chocolate by the pound. I will continue to patron Mrs. Nelsons as long as they are open! read more

I was a bit disappointed, but it might have been mostly due to the fact that I was trying to get my coworkers to go to "Mrs. Nelson's Candy Shack" for a few months, and I had sort of gotten my hopes up. And I think they might have thought something a bit more... uncouth... was happening there, based on the name of the establishment. The homemade chocolates looked nice, but, being allergic to chocolate, I opted for some gummies and hard candy. The gummy worms and bears tasted as though they had been there for a while, and were rather hard. People seemed to enjoy the chocolate. Not impressive overall, but I could see myself getting some gifts there, if it were a bit closer to where I live. And if I had more friends. read more

Super cute store! They have an extensive selection of candies and chocolates. Everything and anything you might need... they have!! For someone that is not a chocolate lover like me the price are a bit high but I love supporting local businesses so I will give Mrs. Nelson my money any day! I did tried about 5 different kind of the chocolates (they were all stuffed with strawberry, caramel, coconut or some sort of something) and each one was amazing. Stop by and give Mrs. Nelson some love. And according to a local this place has been around for over 30 years. Loved it and will most definitely come back. read more

Sea salt caramels are hands down the best thing on earth but so many other delicious candies too!!! So many cute boxes, pops, and more to pick from for every holiday. I always go in for one thing and end up buying things for everyone, including myself Love that you can see them working in the kitchen out back also. I moved just over an hour away but still take the hike out to visit even though I've been told they do mail orders. Highly recommend them if you're looking to satisfy your sweet tooth! read more

My wife and I had driven by a few times wondering what the Candy House could be. It looked like a house, not made of candy. We finally stopped by and were very pleasantly surprised to find a blast from the candy store past inside. The place is larger inside than we thought it would be and they have a ton of fun in-house chocolates and goodies. They even have chocolate hockey pucks (only saw milk, no dark for this one). Also candied dog treats if you need 'em. Prices seemed fair and service was friendly. Haven't tried everything we bought yet, but so far so good,. read more

Excellent service. Unbelievable assortment. But very pricy. But for quality you have to pay. So stop in. Give it a try

Great candy and fudge! The store is big. I think I went in when the were changing from valentines day to St. Party's day candy, so some tables were bare. The prices are a bit high for what you get, but it is a boutique type of store, with a boutique type of product. They have long hours and take requests. read more
