Finally made it over to Epic Chophouse and this place absolutely delivered. Ordered the "104 Ribeye" with the potato cakes and both were incredible. The steak was cooked perfectly, seasoned right, and you could immediately tell the quality of the cut was there. The potato cakes were honestly the perfect pairing. Crispy, rich, and executed extremely well. Me and my folks ordered the Wagyu meatballs and shrimp as an appetizers and those were outstanding too. Tender, flavorful, and balanced without feeling overly heavy. But the real differentiator here was the service. That's what elevated this from simply being a great dinner to being a genuinely high-end experience worth every dollar spent. Our server was absolutely impeccable. Informative, knowledgeable, and clearly understood both the menu and the overall dining experience. He knew where the food came from, what paired best together, and guided the experience without ever feeling pushy or scripted. That level of professionalism matters, especially when you're dropping serious money on dinner, and because of that, not once did I look at the bill and feel irritated about spending nearly $200. Atmosphere was upscale and refined without being stiff or pretentious. Just a really well-balanced environment overall. Bottom line: well done on all levels. I can't tell you the last time I had a steak that needed not one drop of steak sauce, but this one definitely didn't. Not only was it bursting with flavor the texture was perfect and juicy. The risotto was also seasoned very well and not greasy like a lot of other risotto dishes I have tried before. The service was very professional, warm, and pleasing to the point to where I can't wait to return to try something different and feel pampered by their staff. Another amazing outing at Epic Chophouse. My wife's parents are staying with us over the holidays and they wanted a juicy steak so we treated them to Epic. Everything was top notch as always! My porterhouse was cooked perfectly and incredibly juicy. The sea bass was outstanding. Drinks and cocktails were on point. Came here for our anniversary this year as wanted to try somewhere new. They have put a lot of the thought and energy into the decor, its looks very sophisticated inside. Lots of tables and booths but are arranged in a way that you can select seats with some privacy which is nice. When we were seated I appreciated the extra touch of rose petals and an anniversary card on the table since I indicated it was an anniversary celebration on the reservation. Our waitress was lovely and wished us happy anniversary and asked our secret to martial success! We started our evening with some cocktails. My husband got a paper plane and I the blood orange blossom. Both were good. We started with the Angry Lobster appetizer (flash fried lobster tails with an jalapeño horseradish honey mustard dipping sauce). A nice light breading that didn't overpower the delicate lobster. The dipping sauce was great. Next we shared the Epic BLT salad which was kind of like a caprese salad, but with bacon. I think it was their seasonal salad offering. I know it is a Steakhouse. But they actually have a huge menu with lots of other options including chicken, pasta, and seafood dishes. I just wasn't in the mood for steak, so I got the Halibut (pan seared with creamed corn risotto, roasted tomato romesco, and asparagus). It was a nicely plated and tasty dish. Large piece of halibut that was perfectly flaky. The corn risotto was creamy and went well with the veggies. I actually didn't eat it all and it reheated nicely the next day. I was worried I'd be let down for not getting steak, but I wasn't at all. This dish also came with a potato side, which wasn't needed but as I was included I got baked potato and took most of that home as well. My husband got the New York Strip with danish blue cheese topping and loaded mashed potatoes. He shared some bites and can attest that their steaks are delicious. They do charge you $5 if you want to swap your potato side for any of the other side options. This kind of annoyed me. I get a potato typically costs less than vegetables these days, but would go a long way if people could get the side they want with their entrees. Additionally, for dessert we ordered the Cookie Skillet. It was warm, gooey, and yum. Perfect sweet ending to a meal. I was also surprised a place like this doesn't offer you a free dessert when you come for a special occasion, that's pretty common for high end restaurants. This is a not a cheap place with seafood entrees averaging $40 and steaks $50 and up. You will spend a lot if you eat here and while yes it's a great meal, think these gestures would go a long way with guests. Regardless, if you like a good chophouse and are comfortable spending on a quality meal, this is a great option in Greensboro. read more

What a unique way to spend my birthday. Usually I'm an Italian dinner all the way birthday boy with chicken parmesan and pasta, etc. when it comes to my birthday or special occasions. And then again, I had just treated myself to chicken parmesan when The Wizard of Oz closed last week so I decided to break out of my box and leave it up to the kids as to where we would go. The inside is very elegant and I liked how our table had a privacy setting that made you feel like you had your own little dining room. I kind of gasped when I looked at the prices, but the kids insisted that I get whatever I want. Veering from my normal picking the cheapest thing on the menu, I decided to go for the ribeye. Turns out Erik was thinking of getting the ribeye as well so he suggested we get the tomahawk. I could not imagine us ordering a piece of meat for $110, but the kids thought it was a great idea and so we did it. Wow! Wow!! Everything was absolutely delicious. The calamari appetizer was plentiful and quite tasty. The meat on the ribeye was succulent and just divine. The potato side was cheesy and scrumptious. I could not believe it but Erik and I actually finished the entire ribeye. Not only did we finish it but I had the audacity to pick up that huge bone in my hands and gnawed down on it and bit off every bit of meat that I could. I loved it! So much fun!! So why am I not giving it five stars? Here are the reasons. You're going to charge me $110 for a piece of meat but you could not put a basket of rolls down on the table? By far my favorite steakhouse in Greensboro. The moment you walk in the door you're warmly greeted by staff, granting you the first example of the level of service you will experience from all of the friendly, wonderful staff. This is a great location for a celebration or special event. They will ask you if you are celebrating something once they seat you and try to elevate the experience even more if you are. Now for the food. It's all delicious. I've been several times and have not had a bad dish. This visit I got the fillet medallions and shrimp (I can't recall the dish name but under specialties) with a side of asparagus with hollandaise. My mom also got the Mac and cheese as one of her sides at the server's recommendation and it was definitely a winner! The atmosphere of the restaurant is upscale and chic so it is a whole vibe. We dined here while visiting Greensboro, NC and had reservations for 6:30 PM on a Saturday. Our party of four was seated promptly upon arrival. There was no complimentary house bread, but we ordered the artisan cranberry walnut bread (half), which was fresh, flavorful, and a generous portion. My boyfriend ordered the petit filet mignon (8 oz), cooked perfectly medium rare as requested. One in our party had the halibut, which was fresh and cooked just right -- moist and not overdone. Two of us ordered the double-cut rack of lamb. One was served rare as ordered, and mine, requested medium rare, came out closer to rare. We informed our server and she took it back to the kitchen and thoughtfully left my loaded baked potato so I could enjoy it while waiting. When the new plate came out -- as it should -- it included a freshly prepared rack of lamb and a new baked potato, cooked perfectly medium rare this time. For dessert, my boyfriend and I shared the New York cheesecake. It was a good-sized portion -- creamy and enjoyable, though nothing extraordinary. Since it was my birthday, they added a candle, which was a nice gesture, though it wasn't complimentary. The other couple shared a chocolate lava cake. Our server, Shasha, was friendly, pleasant, and knowledgeable about the menu. Service was attentive at first, though once the restaurant got busy, it became harder to flag her down. We went for my birthday and the food was absolutely AMAZING - I was completely blown away. The sriracha glazed bacon was so thick and flavorful, I'll definitely be back even if it's just for that. My hazelnut espresso martini was absolutely delicious too and they had so many cocktails that sounded really good. I also tried the blueberry mojito which was really good too. The only downside for me was the service. Overall, the service wasn't bad but we did wait about 15 minutes for anyone to take our drink order & then we waited another 10-15 for our drinks. We ended up ordering appetizers & entrees at the same time just because it was taking a while and we were all hungry. Late review but went for the Thanksgiving service that they offered and was extremely satisfied! Great layout and ambiance within the restaurant. There was a buffet style of traditional holiday dishes along with some everyday favorites that had something that everyone would enjoy. First time at Epic and my server made sure it was unforgettable. It was a nice mellow vibe with music in the background, not too loud. Everything was great from the food down to the service. I ordered the French onion soup as an appetizer and let me tell you, I didn't even know where to begin with it, it was so much and so flavorful I wanted to order a second one. For my main dish I ordered the Hawaiian rib eye with the baby lobster tails, potato cakes - one butter and one cheese, both phenomenal. The rib eye was so juicy and flavorful it was incredible. Ate here for a work event and overall had a really good experience. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and even offered an off menu appetizer option (the Shanghai Shrimp which I highly recommend) for us to try. We ordered several apps all of which were good and the majority of the group ordered steak for the main course... as you would at a steak house! For the most part, people really enjoyed their food with one of my coworkers even commenting that his filet was one of the best steaks he's had. The issue that I had was that my steak was less than stellar. I ordered the ribeye with potato wedges (which were huge and pretty good actually). The cut of my steak was not good however. It had basically come apart as you can see in the picture which for a ribeye you would think was either because the fat had over rendered or it was a lower quality piece of meat. In my case it just seems it was the latter. Although it was cooked perfectly to medium rare and the melted butter was super flavorful, it was just really tough. Not something I expected at premium steakhouse for sure. The bigger issue in my opinion is that based on how it was coming apart on the plate, I would not have served it. The connective fat on a ribeye is what makes it great and it was non-existent. I know I sound like a food snob but I just had higher expectations for a $50 steak. At the end of the night, my companions all really enjoyed their meals and mine was still tasty so I will chock it up as an outlier and look forward to going back soon to give it another shot! read more

I really didn't want to write this update, but after two back-to-back visits that did not feel "Epic" at all, here we are. Both times, my food arrived lukewarm, and my steak wasn't cooked to my specifications. To make matters worse, the service was just as lukewarm as the food. Neither visit was during a busy time, so I'm baffled as to why service was slower and the food just "meh". With the recent price increases, I expected the quality to hold steady, but that hasn't been the case. Between the lackluster meals and the hefty bill (drinks and apps included), I'm starting to question whether Epic still offers the value it once did Epic used to feel like a treat. We made reservations for Valentine's Weekend over a month in advance, and they were still almost booked. This place is in high demand, and there's no wonder why. This was my second visit and it was even better than my first. Tonight, we were seated immediately despite a very busy restaurant. We had a server who seemed new but was very nice, and she never rushed or pressured us when we wanted to take time looking over drink and food menus. I ordered a special cocktail, and later a glass of whiskey off the extensive menu. My wife was offered a free sample of a wine before ordering, which was a nice touch to keep us from buying one she didn't like. Of course, the wine was great too. Tonight, I talked myself into trying the pricey Wagyu New York Strip. It's hard to talk myself into an $88 steak, but it's a cut of meat I've been wanting to try for a while and what better place than with these experts? While ever so slightly undercooked (which I would prefer to over-cooked any day), this was a truly fantastic piece of meat. Supremely tender (I hardly needed a knife), perfectly seasoned, the perfect amount of fat to provide flavor without wasting a bite. It was a large piece of meat and I took some home, even though I'm confident it'll never reheat the way it was fresh. I wouldn't order it every time because of the cost, but the Wagyu was fantastic and a nice treat! We had ordered the Spinach, Chèvre, Brie & Roasted Garlic Bake for an appetizer. It was served with toasted slices of bread and flatbread pieces. In opposition to what I normally experience with appetizers, there was much more dip than bread, and we could have used a few more pieces to scoop with. But this appetizer was delicious and we would certainly order it again. It's funny, looking at my previous review - My wife ordered the same meal and we ordered the same cheesecake - We didn't remember having them before, but apparently we have consistent preferences. The cheesecake we ordered to go, and I appreciated them packing the Caramel and Pralines in separate cups so it was fresh when we were ready for it. Her Hawaiian Marinated Ribeye was delicious and filling, and she had a large portion left over to take home as well. We also split a house salad, and it was delicious with their house Bacon/Mustard dressing. You really can't go wrong with Epic Chophouse. However, the steak had issues -- the first time it came out undercooked, and when they brought it back, it was burnt on the outside but still raw on the inside. I've been here three times (you'd think the 3rd time would be the charm) Feb '25 for Galentine's, May '25 for my birthday, and July '25 for...well, apparently bad luck. My boyfriend decided to switch things up from our usual Fleming's birthday tradition, and let's just say he regretted it instantly. The steaks (Ribeye -- how do you even ruin a ribeye?) have consistently came out overcooked and burnt-tasting. On my birthday dinner, both my steak and his were overcooked. I sent them back, thinking surely, they could prepare a proper replacement. Nope. The manager came out and told us the grills were off (Saturday night barely 10PM) and he didn't offer any alternative -- no fish, chicken, pasta, appetizers...nothing. Birthday ruined, professionalism absent. We didn't pay for the meals, but we tipped our waitress Jade nicely, she was a gem. Shoutout to Jade for being a Jade. Days later, I complained to the General Manager, who invited us back on him -- nice gesture. But guess what? The steaks were still overcooked and burnt. I honestly don't understand how this keeps happening. Ambience? Lovely. Drinks? Solid. Birthday seating? Right by the door in the middle of the restaurant instead of near the wine wall -- let's just say Fleming's has spoiled me. I had dinner with friends at Epic, for many this was their first visit. We had called ahead and had a reservation for 4pm. We were seated quickly and greeted by our server Zoe. She was very sweet and took the time to patiently answer all of our questions. She helped us make decisions and offered suggestions as well. We tried 3 of the appetizers. One was like a bang bang shrimp, it was so good we ordered another one. The spinach dip was amazing and we had the lump crap fritters. Two orders of the lump crab fritters also. Zoe kept coming to check on us and refilled our drinks as we waited for our food to arrive. Several of us ordered steaks and they were cooked to perfection. One friend had the Nor'easter lobster & shrimp linguine. She substituted the tomato cream sauce for alfredo sauce and said it was delicious. I've always loved the atmosphere in Epic. If I could give Epic Chophouse 10 stars I would! Just wow! My husband and I decided to spend our 10 year anniversary dining with EC and it's not a decision we will soon regret. First of all the interior is elegant and clean. Our waitress was such a gem. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt. The food was nothing short of amazing. We got the calamari, bisque, bread service, and blt salad for appetizers. Every bite was wonderful. I especially loved that half the bread had cranberries baked into it - super unique! The cocktails we ordered were super affordable and STRONG. I got the Hawaiian ribeye as my entree and it was such a unique dish with the ribeye marinated in a pineapple soy sauce. It gave the steak the extra punch it needed. My husband got the surf and turf and it was also amazing - the sauce took his to the next level. Both steaks were cooked perfectly. This establishment was very good! The service was phenomenal as soon as you stepped in we were seated relatively quickly. Their menu has a wide variety of items but I did indeed go with the steak and had the lobster bisque as a starter/soup. The bisque was good the only knock I would've had is that I wish it had some more lobster in it but other than that I enjoyed it! The steak was cooked to my liking I always go medium when it comes to steak I feel that's the best way. The shrimp was delicious plenty of flavor on the shrimp appetizer as well as the grilled shrimp for the entree. If you looking for a romantic laid back type of vibe this is the place. It was recently mine and my partners anniversary so we went to epic chophouse to celebrate! They had the table set up with a card and rose petals which was so sweet of them! Our server was friendly and attentive. We started with shrimp for an appetizer and they were so good! I ordered the lobster and shrimp linguine as my entree. The dish was pretty good. There were a ton of shrimp in the pasta that were cooked nicely. The lobster was just okay, but didn't seem like the best quality. I'd probably get something else if I came back. read more
