We finally made it out to B. Christopher's for my husband's birthday dinner. We have been walking past this restaurant for years downtown! We don't usually venture out to many fancy steakhouses but we were very pleased with the service and food. The service was impeccable. Our server, Ro (per our receipt and I didn't catch her name so I hope I got it right!) was fantastic. She was quick with the specials and brought out a case of steak knives for us to chose from to cut our very tender and perfectly cooked Chateaubriand. She checked on us when needed and my glass was never close to empty, which was appreciated. The little plate of pickles and olives were nice little starter. Our sourdough bread basket was warm and soft with a chewy crust. The butter was not as salty as I would have preferred but it was soft and easy to spread. We ordered the delicious tuna crudo and the steak for two. For our sides were chose the caramelized brussel sprouts with bacon and onions, and the duck fat fried potatoes, which were my favorite. We opted for the cabernet mushroom sauce and the bearnaise, both tasty. My husband's birthday dessert were yummy little Beignets sprinked with powdered sugar and paired with a berry coulis. Overall, everything that we ate was excellent. The restaurant is much bigger than it appears from outside. Seating is broken up in cozy separate dining areas which helps keep the noise level down. It is definitely a more intimate dining experience. Most places are so loud these days but we were able to enjoy quiet conversation which was a pleasant change. Somehow we had never tried or been invited by friends to dine at B. Christopher. Over the past half decade, I've been vegetarian so that certainly weighed into it, plus the pandemic, we never made it there. Well one night we decided it's time to try. We called and were able to snag a last minute reservation on a Saturday evening. I've literally walked by the restaurant over 1,000 times so I knew it had great decor but was really surprised by the cute little room they put us in near the kitchen steps (yes - every server has to go upstairs to the kitchen to get meals - very impressed by their agility and dexterity!) Service was top notch but here is where it really shined - they helped ensure I knew what dishes were vegetarian and gave personal recommendations. I love a good steak, and I have a regular favorite spot in Greensboro. But for my birthday, I wanted to try something new, and I'd seen B. Christopher's recommended multiple times. Booking a reservation was easy, although I didn't realize it was located downtown with only street parking, so we ended up arriving several minutes late--fortunately, they didn't give us any grief about that. We were seated promptly, and the decor was exactly what you'd expect from a fine dining restaurant: dim lighting, soft music, and well-dressed staff. The tables were a bit closer together than I prefer, but that's a common thing I've noticed elsewhere, too. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. As soon as we were seated, they brought out a small plate of olives and pickles--a quirky touch, but a pleasant surprise. They were actually great to snack on, with more spice and tang than you'd expect--they definitely didn't taste like something dumped from a basic jar. My wife had the Lemon Raspberry Sangria (which she loved), and I picked a glass from their extensive wine list. They also seem to have a very competent bar--I saw the bartender interacting with a few tables to make sure guests got exactly what they wanted. We were also brought fresh bread, which was decent, though not particularly memorable--fairly bland. We ordered the Three Cheese Ravioli as an appetizer, and it was quite tasty. A small portion, just enough for a pasta fix, with a complex palate of flavors. The sauce even made the bread better. Before the main course, the server brought around a tray of steak knives and let us choose our own. It's a fun little quirk, though I wouldn't miss it if they just brought the knife with the plate. For entrées, my wife got the New York Strip with asparagus, and I went with the Blackened Cajun Ribeye and duck fat fried potatoes. This is where the experience started to decline. For my ribeye, I was expecting a bold Cajun seasoning, but there was barely any--pretty much just a standard steak. It was cooked to the right temperature, but the meat was tough and hard to cut or chew. I know ribeye can be fatty, but this cut was particularly fatty and unimpressive. The duck fat potatoes, recommended by our waitress, weren't terrible--but I wouldn't order them again. Unfortunately, my wife's New York Strip was also tough and difficult to cut and chew, despite being cooked correctly. When two different cuts come out like that, it makes me think this is just how their steaks are, and I wouldn't expect better next time. For dessert, we shared the beignets with raspberry sauce (another waitress recommendation), and they were awesome. A great way to end a somewhat disappointing meal. I personally won't be coming back, mostly due to the underwhelming steaks--which are supposed to be the main attraction. That said, there's a lot to appreciate: the ambiance, service, appetizers, drinks, and desserts all delivered. But at the end of the day, it's a steakhouse--and a good steak is non-negotiable. read more

One of the better fine dining experiences I have had in Greensboro recently! We had reservations for and early dinner at B. Christopher's prior to a concert at the coliseum, and were treated to a great experience! I really like the interior, the restaurant is not huge, but it is very sectioned off, which makes for multiple smaller rooms with a few tables. This keeps it from being too loud and makes for an intimate setup. We were quickly greeted by our waitress who did a great job. As far as drinks they have a decently large wine by the glass menu that I chose from while my wife had a Georgia Peach Martini that she enjoyed very much. We then ordered our food. We split a Caesar salad, which used grilled lettuce that I just love to give the salad a bit of a different taste! For our entree we shared the Chateaubriand for Two which comes with two sides. They may advertise this as a steak for two, but it is probably really enough for 4! We ordered a medium rare, and it was cooked PERFECTLY, which is a huge pet peeve for me when going to a decent steakhouse and the steak comes out at a different temperature than ordered. For sides we had corn creme brûlée which was good, but not great, and garlic mashed potatoes which we really enjoyed! Overall we were extremely happy with the quality of the food! Our first time at B. Christopher's was Saturday night to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary! It has an upscale ambiance, beautiful and dark. Our waitress, Elise, was a delight, very warm and friendly. I ordered an Old Fashioned, which was delicious. For the meal, I ordered the Lobster Bisque and the Wedge Salad. Both were very good, but I was expecting lumps of lobster in the bisque but was disappointed. My husband ordered the 10 oz. Filet Mignon and mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection but a little charred on the outside, which my husband was not a fan of, but it was tender and good; as well as the mashed potatoes. The food was fresh and flavorful. The service was great. We recommend making a reservation as it is a small place and it felt like the locals all call ahead. A special thanks to the chef who was able to seat us as walk ins. We thoroughly enjoyed the charred ceaser salad, the chateaubriand for two that came with some very tasty mashed potatoes and two yummy sauces. This is a restaurant that began in Burlington before relocating to downtown Greensboro in the corner street level in what was originally the Wachovia Building. The interior is sleek and modern with a definite upscale aurora. It is bright with a great deal of large window area at the front (facing Elm Street) and on the left side (fronting Friendly). The bar area is attractive, warm and inviting, softly lit. We traveled to Burlington a number of times before the restaurant relocated here. The current spot is much more upscale, befitting the high quality steakhouse this place certainly is, rivaling the best the city has to offer, including Flemings and Ruth's Chris. And make no mistake, this is first and foremost a top end steak house, but the other fare offered, especially the seafood choices, are top notch as well - another thing they have in common with other first rate steakhouses here. In my visits here I have enjoyed a number of items, including: the two premier beef offerings -Porterhouse For Two, and the Chateaubriand; two excellent seafood items - Crab Cake app (small but very tasty, all meat) and Oysters On The Half Shell (perfect salinity); great side dishes - best are Onion Crisps and 3 Cheese Ravioli; and a few great desserts - best of breed were Flourless Tort and Crème Brûlée (amazing caramelized top). This fresh fish choices are always excellent as well. The fare here is top of the line. and the service is usually on point - there can be bumps when the place is full, especially on special days like Valentine's. As you would expect from a high end steak house, this is not an inexpensive place to eat - but in my visits to this restaurant, here and the original location in Burlington covering well over ten years now, I've always felt I received both quality and value in a most pleasant environment, and that's what fine dining is all about! read more

Hey family. Hope everyone is doing well. I've had this place bookmarked for quite some time. Over the past few months, I've been trying to find a time to go. I wanted to go for my bday back in May but they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. I finally was able to go for my friend's bday and I'm so glad we came. I definitely recommend making reservations, which I did on the OpenTable app. It's not a big place as far as I could see in the inside. When I made the reservation I did ask for a booth and mentioned we were celebrating a birthday and they made it happen. Our server Grace, was amazing. She was so sweet and explained everything as we had never been there before. She ran down the specials they had and I was already impressed. The atmosphere was clean and very welcoming and intimate. Check out the photos of our meal. I must say. It's not a lot of places that get it right with the service and the food. This place had it all from start to finish. The steak was juicy and flavorful. Although, they offer steak sauces that are really good, it's really not needed. It was seasoned perfectly. I like mine at medium rare. It was an amazing cut as well. The three cheese ravioli was amazing and the cream sauce was superb. My only complaint is that I wish it was 5-6 pieces lol. I almost ordered another serving. It was my favorite. Since it was my friend's birthday, they provided us with fresh raspberry beignets. We were stuffed so we got them to go. They were delicious. An amazing restaurant - especially recommend if you are celebrating a special occasion. Parking was easy at a parking garage close by. Be aware that since this restaurant is downtown you may run into the Tanger Center crowd for shows. We made reservations for 6:15pm and were seated immediately. Restaurant felt cozy, but modern. They brought out warm bread and pickles & olives for all the tables. My husband and I ordered appetizers - I got the untraditional Caesar salad and he got the baked French onion soup. Both were delicious takes on classics. For our entree, we ordered the signature steak (chateaubriand) for two. It came with two sides and two sauces. The cabernet mushroom sauce complemented the steak really well. The chateaubriand is the best kind of steak in my opinion and I was not disappointed with this one. The ambience was nice and the service was top notch! We started with pickles and olives (and bread) the pickles are weird - not a fan - I felt like a kid given an oatmeal raisin cookie but expecting chocolate chip... the olives were good though and as expected! Anyway... we ordered ravioli to start thinking our toddler would eat it - we were wrong - she would not, but it was a lucky failure - because they were absolutely delectable and I got to eat them! Our steaks were good - really good - but not "wow!" I do feel an obligation to point out that the shoestring fries on the menu sound very lackluster but they're perfectly fried fries with the most perfect crunch and flavor! I have lived in High Point for six years and never been to this place. I always see it when we are in downtown Greensboro and it is always full. Definitely make a reservation as they don't always take walk-ins. The night we went they were only accepting reservations. The service was excellent! The interior was elegant and charming. Everything on the menu seem to be reasonably priced. We started with the beef carpaccio, which was absolutely delectable. It came with toasted sourdough and a spring mix of fresh veggies. my husband and I decided to share the steak for two (Chateaubriand). This was a 20 ounce fillet tenderloin that was served with two sides and two sauces of your choosing. We opted for the creamed spinach, garlic mashed potatoes, cabernet mushroom sauce, and butter sauce. I highly recommend the creamed spinach as it was my favorite. The steak was cooked perfectly, medium rare as ordered. I cannot say enough about the creamed spinach. It was delightful and left me wanting more. We then finished up dinner with the spicy/espresso beignets. These were french beignets topped with cinnamon and dusted with espresso served with a spicy chocolate on the side. At first, it sounded odd, but the flavors blended so perfectly. What a great dessert that paired well with a decaf coffee. This is a great place for a steak and well priced. I will definitely be returning. My only recommendation/feedback for the restaurant would be to use real cherries for their old-fashioned instead of maraschino cherries. Four of us, my wife and I, and another couple had dinner here last night (a Tuesday) before going to see Riverdance across the street. It was our first visit. Thankfully, I had made reservations because no walk-ins were allowed. Probably because of the event, and they were full, I would guess. As soon as we entered, we were greeted with a smile and bubbly personality by Sarah, who took us to our seats. I had requested something near a window, and we got a perfect seat in the corner with two windows. Kudos, Sarah! From here, our experience is mostly great, but there are some things lacking, thus the 4 instead of 5 stars. First, the good. The food. Just... Wow... Here's a breakdown of what we had: Appetizers: * We were immediately brought a complimentary small plate of assorted olives with pickles. Not an amuse-bouche but nice and appreciated. The plate was emptied pretty quickly they were so good. We wondered later in the night why we didn't ask for more. * Warm sourdough bread served with our appetizers. * Salt & Pepper Fried Calamari - Even thr aioli that it comes with was also finish. 'Nuff said. * Bacon-Wrapped Jumbo Shrimp - 4 on a plate, giving us each a large, smokey, extremely delicious shrimp wrapped in bacon. Main Courses: I had a medium-Rare NY Strip - it was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I didn't use (or need) the sauce that was included (you can choose from one of several). I tried it on 1 piece of steak, but it only covered the deliciousness of the beef. For my sides, I had the caramelized brussels and bacon and the creamed spinach. The spinach was good, but the sprouts were AWESOME. My wife had the seared scallop risotto. I was fortunate enough to have a few bites and agreed with her that it was divine. It was perfectly creamy, not too thick, and just past al dente. YUMMY One of our friends had the Cajun blackened rib eye medium-rare. I had a bite, then forced him to cut me some more. I'm getting that on my next visit. It melts in your mouth and is the best I've ever had. Even better than mine (and I've never said that before). His wife had the blackened salmon and said she loved it. She's not a big eater, but the piece of fish was a good size, and there was nothing left of it when she finished, so... It must have been good. For dessert, my friend and I each had the cheesecake with caramel sauce, and my wife had the crème brûlée. Her dessert was lovely, but the cheesecake and caramel, now that was so good it should be illegal. The cheesecake was oh so creamy, and that caramel was addictive. I'm absolutely getting that again on my next visit. Drinks were a bottle of wine, an old fashioned, and a Long Island ice tea. Here is where we start to lose perfection. Both drinks were watery. In the photos, you can see the ice the bartender used was thin, so it melted really fast, watering down the cocktails. The wine was fine, but that leads to the problem we had with service. I'll just list out some of the things. 1. Our waitress came around so rarely that our bottle of wine was empty, and we still hadn't seen her in a while. We would have liked to have had a 2nd bottle. 2. My wife's water glass was never refilled. I just gave her mine. 3. I accidentally knocked my dinner fork off the table. I told a waiter who picked it up and said "Well you still have that one, so you're OK, right?" (Looking at my used salad fork) and left. 4. The empty olive plate stayed on our table until after we finished our appetizers. 5. The waitress brought us a display of steak knives just before our entrees were served and asked us to take one. My knife was so dull it literally could not cut my steak. She brought a 2nd still unusably dull. I ended up using my butter knife to cut my steak because it was the sharpest of the three. 6. The waitress came and took my plate with my used salad fork right before our entrées we served leaving me forkless. We were talk8ng when it happened and didn't notice. When our entrées were delivered, no fork was provided, so I used my friends salad fork that had remained unused. 7. I had coffee with my dessert and it was Luke warm. I didn't ask for a replacement because we never saw our waitress again until we got the check. I do want to end this on a positive note, though. Christopher, the owner, took care to visit the guests. I briefly told him of the above issues (I was using my butter knife to cut my steak at that time). We also told him how excellent his food was. Overall, I only deducted one star because of the poor service and defective cutlery. The reason is that Sarah was so awesome when she greeted us, the food was fantastic, and the owner took the time to visit us (we did not ask for him). We are already discussing when we will return. We are Greensboro natives, and have never tried B Christopher's. Well, I guess have been missing out! We went one Saturday night ( 6/7/25) for dinner, and had a wonderful experience! The service was great, and the food amazing. We shared a tuna appetizer, (tuna crudo) which rivaled what we have had at Nobu on vacations. Amazing! Then, I had the scallops with risotto , and husband had the filet, and both were incredible. We honestly felt like we were on vacation, having a big special dinner out. We will absolutely be back! Our favorite date spot in Greensboro. We prefer traditional type menus - steak/potatoes/soup/salad etc. My husband loves the wedge salad, filet, and duck fat potatoes. I am a huge fan of their French onion soup, chicken, duck fat potatoes, and mushrooms. Please do not leave this place without an apple tart - we may or may not get one each sometimes (see photo review for proof) I will note that every once in a while the service isn't the greatest, but we keep coming back for the food and the last few times the service has been impeccable, so perhaps they've made some changes to that! read more

I noticed B Christopher's on my previous trips to Greensboro so decided to make a stop there on this trip. The restaurant is smaller than I thought and I don't mean that as bad just that it explains why reservations weren't available on my past visits. Service was very friendly and attentive although my iced tea wasn't refilled until it was empty and for some reason a bread plate wasn't provided with the bread like it was at other tables. So I had to deduct a star for those issues. I could have asked for the plate but I was trying to see if someone would notice it was missing and nobody did. A plate of olives were brought to the table when I arrived. I ordered the filet mignon; garlic mashed potatoes; and an apple tart. The restaurant allowed me to select my own steak knife from a case and I liked having that option. The filet was cooked as ordered with great flavor. I enjoyed the garlic mashed potatoes as well. Although the other sides looked appetizing as well. The apple tart was a great way to end the meal. It came topped with caramel ice cream. read more

I decided to surprise Hubbylicious with a date night and take him to dinner. Made reservations for 7pm on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We arrived 14min early and only had to wait a couple of minutes for them to set up the table. The waitress greeted us with the complimentary olives and pickles as well as a carafe of iced water; took our order after answering questions about the menu. We had a hard time deciding between getting our own dishes or splitting the larger steak. We decided to split the ribeye and order our own sides. I asked if they had bread and she said yes, I'll bring some over. SHE FORGOT. She remembered 45 seconds before the entrees arrived. The plates were already split for us, which was very nice of the kitchen to take the time to do that. Steak was cooked to the perfect medium-well temperature. I didn't taste any blacked Cajun spices. At least the ribeye is naturally flavorful. His garlic mashed potatoes were excellent; perfect balance of garlic. The onion crisps were great and came with some type of dip. The steaks also came with some type of horseradish sauce on the side.(didn't try it). We decided on the apple tart for dessert. It was extremely salted (sauce) and the tart itself seem microwaved because the dough was chewy instead of crispy crust. Typically a place like this I'd give 5 starts, but they weren't crowded so there was no reason to forget the bread before the meal and I was never offered a refill on my tea, that obviously was watered down. read more

After being seated we looked at the extensive menu and decided on a few appetizers. Rockefeller oysters, wedge salad and a crab cake. So my 3 stars comes in here, the oysters were NOT FRESH. Like at all. I get oysters literally everywhere I go and they tasted so fishy and chewy and just not good at all. It was a huge turn off to eat those during dinner. But the rest do the food made up for it. The crab cake and wedge salad were great and the blackened steak we had was AMAZING. So flavorful. We celebrated our 28th anniversary at B Christopher's. This was our first time here. I'll break out my review by topic: Parking - street parking was easy to find. There are also several garage decks that are close by. Reservations - highly recommended. We went on a Saturday night and there was a sign on the door saying Reservations Only. Ambiance - great ambiance, warm lighting, nice decor, our table was right next to the window facing the street. If you are dining here in the winter, please note that the tables close to the front door experience a cold draft every time the door is opened. This made for some uncomfortable moments, especially since I am always cold! Food - Shortly after being seated, our waiter brought out a plate of sweet pickles and olives. For an appetizer we ordered the BACON-WRAPPED SHRIMP, which was really good! I had the SPINACH salad which was also really good, but they could have given me the whole egg, instead of just half. Lol. It is served with a warm dressing so the spinach is slightly wilted. My hubby ordered the 10oz filet which was cooked to his liking, medium well, but the temperature was almost room temperature; he would have preferred it much hotter. The DUCK FAT FRIED POTATOES were awesome - wedge cut and topped with parmesan cheese. So good! I ordered the petite filet with the OSCAR STYLE accompaniment (lump crab, asparagus and bearnaise) and the CORN CREME BRÛLÉE for a side. The filet with accompaniment was very tender and tasty. I could not taste the corn in the corn creme brûlée and really not sure what it tasted like, but it was just okay. For dessert we ordered the APPLE TURNOVER with vanilla bean ice cream. It was very tasty. We didn't tell them it was our anniversary, but after reading some reviews now it looks like they may have given us a free dessert! Lol. Service - Our server, Jay, was very nice and polite although we did have to ask for bread twice (they use sourdough bread) since it seemed like he had forgotten. So we didn't get the bread until our entrees were served. When we asked for a bottle of Pellegrino, we were expecting the big size that can serve at least two people. He brought us one small bottle for the both of us so we had to order another bottle. My husband had to ask for his regular water to be refilled. Great location right downtown across from center city park and could do very very well but they definitely need to work on their service levels. We went just for wine and apps and the place was half empty but we waited to even get water for close to 20 minutes which we had to ask for then finally got to order and waited again for wine and food. The food we had was good - French onion soup had great flavor but definitely more soup than cheese/bread which was fine, Brussels with bacon were good, unique flavor and heavy on the oil - I believe they pan cook versus roast them and stuffed ravioli had a good cream sauce but you only had 4 pieces which was less than expected and the green beans were your basic green beans. The place has potential especially for its location and space for seating outside/inside and the bar. They have a great wine list too! But unfortunately when we were ready to leave and pay our tabs, we had to go find our server just to get our tickets and literally paid him right at the station so we didn't have to wait even longer. Totally understand the lack of staffing we're going through with restaurants but they weren't even busy so we felt they could've done better! Fine Dining award winner for the Triad goes to this exquisite restaurant, according to Angela!!! We absolutely love this place!! The service is unmatched! The management recognizes us as soon as we enter. The bartender knows our drinks and gets them to us immediately after we are seated. The service is perfect! The ambiance is ideal for a date night or a business dinner or to even host a top shelf event. The menu is awesome, so many delicious options. My usual order is the Cajun ribeye with the horseradish cream sauce with the Brussels and the duck fat fried potatoes. I am such a fan. Someone once asked me for my favorite fine dining restaurant in Greensboro and I told them hands down, my number one is B. Christopher's. The hostess was sweet and very professional. Our waitress, Sam, was beyond fantastic. She was attentive and very nice. She made an amazing meal even better. The food was phenomenal. We ordered the chateaubriand for two with green beans and fries. The steak was cooked perfectly. The NY cheesecake for dessert was scrumptious. B. Christopher's is okay. It's just okay. They put a huge onus on a somewhat overdelicate approach to service, and the menu and presentation has gone well past classic and well into outdated. That being said, there's nothing they've done wrong, there's just nothing they've done well. The steak was adequate, albeit undertrimmed and on a very regimented and sterile plating. Cocktails were safe, made accurately as though a robot made it. It feels similar to how you'd feel after working ridiculously hard on an essay and seeing a D+. It's technically a passing grade, but there's no feeling good about it. B. Christopher's passes the class with a D+. read more

My wife and I celebrated our Anniversary here, last month. My summary is that I do not plan to return, but would not discourage others from trying it out. I liked the location and I enjoyed the atmosphere. I was especially intrigued by the signed memorabilia from past shows at the Tanger Performing Art Center. Access/parking was simple, considering a downtown location. I loved our Apple Turnover desert, my Fillet Mignon was prepared correctly and had an appealing flavor. Unfortunately, there were a lot of things that were well short of my expectation, for a fine-dining experience. My steak was close to room temperature, when it was served. Given how quickly we were served, I wondered if they gave me a steak that had already been cooked, prior to our order. Our server was pleasant to speak with, but I do not feel like he was very attentive to our requests. We had to ask for bread, several times. He brought us a small Pellegrino, for both of us, without explanation, when we asked for a large one. When we ordered desert and asked for coffee for both of us, he only brought one coffee, for my wife. On top of all of the issues we had in communicating what we wanted, every time the door opened, we were overwhelmed by very cold air. read more
