Blackened Cajun Rib Eye with Duck Fat Fried Potatoes
    Brandon W.

I love a good steak, and I have a regular favorite spot in Greensboro. But for my birthday, I wanted to try something new, and I'd seen B. Christopher's recommended multiple times. Booking a reservation was easy, although I didn't realize it was located downtown with only street parking, so we ended up arriving several minutes late--fortunately, they didn't give us any grief about that. We were seated promptly, and the decor was exactly what you'd expect from a fine dining restaurant: dim lighting, soft music, and well-dressed staff. The tables were a bit closer together than I prefer, but that's a common thing I've noticed elsewhere, too. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. As soon as we were seated, they brought out a small plate of olives and pickles--a quirky touch, but a pleasant surprise. They were actually great to snack on, with more spice and tang than you'd expect--they definitely didn't taste like something dumped from a basic jar. My wife had the Lemon Raspberry Sangria (which she loved), and I picked a glass from their extensive wine list. They also seem to have a very competent bar--I saw the bartender interacting with a few tables to make sure guests got exactly what they wanted. We were also brought fresh bread, which was decent, though not particularly memorable--fairly bland. We ordered the Three Cheese Ravioli as an appetizer, and it was quite tasty. A small portion, just enough for a pasta fix, with a complex palate of flavors. The sauce even made the bread better. Before the main course, the server brought around a tray of steak knives and let us choose our own. It's a fun little quirk, though I wouldn't miss it if they just brought the knife with the plate. For entrées, my wife got the New York Strip with asparagus, and I went with the Blackened Cajun Ribeye and duck fat fried potatoes. This is where the experience started to decline. For my ribeye, I was expecting a bold Cajun seasoning, but there was barely any--pretty much just a standard steak. It was cooked to the right temperature, but the meat was tough and hard to cut or chew. I know ribeye can be fatty, but this cut was particularly fatty and unimpressive. The duck fat potatoes, recommended by our waitress, weren't terrible--but I wouldn't order them again. Unfortunately, my wife's New York Strip was also tough and difficult to cut and chew, despite being cooked correctly. When two different cuts come out like that, it makes me think this is just how their steaks are, and I wouldn't expect better next time. For dessert, we shared the beignets with raspberry sauce (another waitress recommendation), and they were awesome. A great way to end a somewhat disappointing meal. I personally won't be coming back, mostly due to the underwhelming steaks--which are supposed to be the main attraction. That said, there's a lot to appreciate: the ambiance, service, appetizers, drinks, and desserts all delivered. But at the end of the day, it's a steakhouse--and a good steak is non-negotiable.

The food was excellent especially the French onion soup and the lavender drink (not pictured). The service was wonderful, and the low lighting paired with the large windows and thoughtful layout created exactly the atmosphere I needed. It made the evening feel calm, perfect for a celebration dinner.

One of the better fine dining experiences I have had in Greensboro recently! We had reservations for and early dinner at B. Christopher's prior to a concert at the coliseum, and were treated to a great experience! I really like the interior, the restaurant is not huge, but it is very sectioned off, which makes for multiple smaller rooms with a few tables. This keeps it from being too loud and makes for an intimate setup. We were quickly greeted by our waitress who did a great job. As far as drinks they have a decently large wine by the glass menu that I chose from while my wife had a Georgia Peach Martini that she enjoyed very much. We then ordered our food. We split a Caesar salad, which used grilled lettuce that I just love to give the salad a bit of a different taste! For our entree we shared the Chateaubriand for Two which comes with two sides. They may advertise this as a steak for two, but it is probably really enough for 4! We ordered a medium rare, and it was cooked PERFECTLY, which is a huge pet peeve for me when going to a decent steakhouse and the steak comes out at a different temperature than ordered. For sides we had corn creme brûlée which was good, but not great, and garlic mashed potatoes which we really enjoyed! Overall we were extremely happy with the quality of the food! I will certainly remember B. Christopher's the next time we are looking for an upscale place for dinner and would not hesitate to go back!

It was our anniversary and we were seated at the perfect booth! Cheyenne took excellent care of us! The old fashioned drinks were delicious. The Oysters Rockefeller were loaded and yummy! We split the filet and it was perfectly cooked and the chef even split it for us. My only suggestion would be to replace the diner salt and pepper shakers with something more elegant for an upscale steak restaurant.

Spent my 4th anniversary here, and I can say it was quite the exquisite experience. I had their oysters! I love oysters and I can say these were the best I've ever had. The streak was cooked just as requested, while it came out a just warm enough, the taste was great. The cocktails are delicious as well!

Steak was cooked perfectly rare, as requested. It may seem odd but it amazes me how many $50 steaks do not come out at the requested temp. Service was terrific. Our server had a great cadence to know when to check and when to not be overbearing. The actual restaurant itself was classy and cute (not a huge place) and the building seemed like it had some history and memories that entertain for guests for hours if it could speak with language instead of nuance.

Our first time at B. Christopher's was Saturday night to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary! It has an upscale ambiance, beautiful and dark. Our waitress, Elise, was a delight, very warm and friendly. I ordered an Old Fashioned, which was delicious. For the meal, I ordered the Lobster Bisque and the Wedge Salad. Both were very good, but I was expecting lumps of lobster in the bisque but was disappointed. My husband ordered the 10 oz. Filet Mignon and mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection but a little charred on the outside, which my husband was not a fan of, but it was tender and good; as well as the mashed potatoes. They gifted us with dessert since it was our anniversary. We got something like Beignets, but Elise called it by a different name. They were light and delectable!

The food was fresh and flavorful. The service was great. We recommend making a reservation as it is a small place and it felt like the locals all call ahead. A special thanks to the chef who was able to seat us as walk ins. We thoroughly enjoyed the charred ceaser salad, the chateaubriand for two that came with some very tasty mashed potatoes and two yummy sauces. We also ate every last bite of an apple pie and beignets. There was an amazing bartender who was serving amazing cocktails and making great wine recommendations. If ever we find ourselves in Greensboro, NC again, we will definitely visit this place again.

Just a truly fantastic steakhouse and just what a steakhouse should be. We had the best rib eye we have ever had right here and cannot wait to return. Husband had tuna special which he loved and my son had filet and shrimp! Wedge salads were on point and delicious dessert was spectacular cannot say enough great things about this place. We reserved a cozy booth and our waiter was funny attentive it was just a fantastic experience all around!

This is a restaurant that began in Burlington before relocating to downtown Greensboro in the corner street level in what was originally the Wachovia Building. The interior is sleek and modern with a definite upscale aurora. It is bright with a great deal of large window area at the front (facing Elm Street) and on the left side (fronting Friendly). The bar area is attractive, warm and inviting, softly lit. We traveled to Burlington a number of times before the restaurant relocated here. The current spot is much more upscale, befitting the high quality steakhouse this place certainly is, rivaling the best the city has to offer, including Flemings and Ruth's Chris. And make no mistake, this is first and foremost a top end steak house, but the other fare offered, especially the seafood choices, are top notch as well - another thing they have in common with other first rate steakhouses here. In my visits here I have enjoyed a number of items, including: the two premier beef offerings -Porterhouse For Two, and the Chateaubriand; two excellent seafood items - Crab Cake app (small but very tasty, all meat) and Oysters On The Half Shell (perfect salinity); great side dishes - best are Onion Crisps and 3 Cheese Ravioli; and a few great desserts - best of breed were Flourless Tort and Crème Brûlée (amazing caramelized top). This fresh fish choices are always excellent as well. The fare here is top of the line. and the service is usually on point - there can be bumps when the place is full, especially on special days like Valentine's. As you would expect from a high end steak house, this is not an inexpensive place to eat - but in my visits to this restaurant, here and the original location in Burlington covering well over ten years now, I've always felt I received both quality and value in a most pleasant environment, and that's what fine dining is all about!

Hey family. Hope everyone is doing well. I've had this place bookmarked for quite some time. Over the past few months, I've been trying to find a time to go. I wanted to go for my bday back in May but they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. I finally was able to go for my friend's bday and I'm so glad we came. I definitely recommend making reservations, which I did on the OpenTable app. It's not a big place as far as I could see in the inside. When I made the reservation I did ask for a booth and mentioned we were celebrating a birthday and they made it happen. Our server Grace, was amazing. She was so sweet and explained everything as we had never been there before. She ran down the specials they had and I was already impressed. The atmosphere was clean and very welcoming and intimate. Check out the photos of our meal. I must say. It's not a lot of places that get it right with the service and the food. This place had it all from start to finish. The steak was juicy and flavorful. Although, they offer steak sauces that are really good, it's really not needed. It was seasoned perfectly. I like mine at medium rare. It was an amazing cut as well. The three cheese ravioli was amazing and the cream sauce was superb. My only complaint is that I wish it was 5-6 pieces lol. I almost ordered another serving. It was my favorite. Since it was my friend's birthday, they provided us with fresh raspberry beignets. We were stuffed so we got them to go. They were delicious. This will definitely not be the last time and I can't wait to go back again. Also the reheat quality is great too. Please support local and good food. I feel like it's a well kept secret and IYKYK kinda thing. Check this place out and I hope you enjoy as much as I did.

An amazing restaurant - especially recommend if you are celebrating a special occasion. Parking was easy at a parking garage close by. Be aware that since this restaurant is downtown you may run into the Tanger Center crowd for shows. We made reservations for 6:15pm and were seated immediately. Restaurant felt cozy, but modern. They brought out warm bread and pickles & olives for all the tables. My husband and I ordered appetizers - I got the untraditional Caesar salad and he got the baked French onion soup. Both were delicious takes on classics. For our entree, we ordered the signature steak (chateaubriand) for two. It came with two sides and two sauces. The cabernet mushroom sauce complemented the steak really well. The chateaubriand is the best kind of steak in my opinion and I was not disappointed with this one. We got beignets for dessert to celebrate my husband's birthday. They were warm and light. I cannot forget to compliment the superior service we received as well! We will definitely be back.

Came here on somewhat of a whim for hubby's birthday. This place was nice and the food was really good but I expected more - however, I think I tend to always think that after eating steak. The ambience was nice and the service was top notch! We started with pickles and olives (and bread) the pickles are weird - not a fan - I felt like a kid given an oatmeal raisin cookie but expecting chocolate chip... the olives were good though and as expected! Anyway... we ordered ravioli to start thinking our toddler would eat it - we were wrong - she would not, but it was a lucky failure - because they were absolutely delectable and I got to eat them! Our steaks were good - really good - but not "wow!" I do feel an obligation to point out that the shoestring fries on the menu sound very lackluster but they're perfectly fried fries with the most perfect crunch and flavor! If you find yourself here - get them. Seriously. So yeah - overall - really good!

I started with a Cajun Martini made with jalapeño-infused vodka, and it was exactly what I hoped it would be. It did not taste artificially jalapeño-flavored; it had a real kick and just the right amount of heat. We started with the Crawfish Rangoon Dip, and honestly, I could have made a meal out of it. I have had Rangoon dips before, but this one was especially smooth and full of flavor. If I had been at home, I probably would have been tempted to run my finger around the bowl to get every last bit. For my entrée, I had the Shrimp Étouffée. Others at the table ordered the Duck Jambalaya, Shrimp and Grits, and Gumbo Yaya. My dish seemed to get better with every bite. The Creole stew was rich and deeply flavorful without being over the top. I was especially glad our waitress suggested adding a side of garlic bread to mop up the sauce. Even the garlic bread stood out, toasted on the grill with a slightly smoky flavor. It felt like real attention had been paid to every detail. We all tried each other's dishes, and I would happily go back and order any one of them. The banana pudding at the end of the meal was just as good. It had a strong banana flavor and was not overly sweet. Our servers were friendly and attentive, and the meal moved at a relaxed pace. We never felt rushed. My only complaint was the noise level. The restaurant has a tiled ceiling, and it got loud enough that at times, it was difficult to hear people on the other side of the table. Even with that, I would go back to Blue Denim!

The crawfish rangoon dip was delightfully cheesy with large pieces of crawfish, the chili sauce was sweet and had a tiny bit of heat, and I loved the crisp and light wonton chips. The shrimp and grits were almost as delicious as I remembered from my visit years ago. There is a moderate amount of cajun spices, so if you don't like somewhat spicy food, you may want to ask to see if they can adjust this, but I loved it as is. My husband had the King Catfish plate and really enjoyed it, though we both agreed the Shrimp and Grits was superior. My only complaint with Blue Denim is the noise level. It is a small space with a charming interior, but given its tight quarters, it can get quite loud even if the restaurant is only half full. I'm not sure how they would go about fixing this, but if the weather is nice (as it was in this latest visit) I will opt to eat at one of their outdoor tables.

This really is one of my favorite places to get food in the area BUT the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because anytime I've been there remotely close to closing, they definitely let you know & make you feel rushed. I'm not one to go to restaurants last minute when they're closing because I know how that can make it difficult for employees, but being somewhere 45 minutes before they close shouldn't warrant getting rushed. We started off with some drinks. My friend loved her cherry ale and I really enjoyed my G&T , the glass it came in was just so unusual. The G&T took awhile to finally make it to me but i loved it. We ordered the tuna tartare and that was delicious and served up with fried green tomatoes which was a different take on it. Nice and fresh and nicely presented. Our entrees were the salmon for my friend and I had the Bahn mi chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Usually this sandwich is with pork so I wanted to try this. The service for our dinner took almost 45 mins we had finished the app awhile back and my grind had another drink and still we were waiting. It was closing in on 6.50 Pm and at this point we would be inhaling our food when it came and rushing out the door . It came at 7pm and the sandwich was good but they should mention on the menu that it has mayonnaise on it as I don't like that but there was quite a bit on the bun. Not typically in this type of sandwich so I wasn't expecting it. The chicken was a good and flavorful and lots of other veggie fillings and the fries were great. My friend really enjoyed her salmon and the risotto it came with. Just disappointed we had to eat it all so quickly and leave some so we could pay and leave. We had our eye on the lemon posset tart for dessert but we didn't have time . We just thought since the server knew we had theater tickets she would have been more on top of it. Yes they were busy as it was a show night but the place wasn't totally full. Seemed like no urgency when we asked how long the food would be as we had to leave soon. I'd maybe try this place again on a non show night, as I thought they had a great menu. I enjoyed the place just not the service as we barely made the show before the lights went down.

I did the hibachi entrees, both regular and teriyaki. I had about 3 of the appetizers too. Everything was truly delicious. I definitely plan to come back. The desserts are an additional price. We got the fried ice cream, which was $5, but so amazing. The outside tasted like funnel cake!

This was our second visit here since moving to the area. To start, the servers were great! Very…read morefriendly and we were seated quickly. We ordered drinks and an appetizer and they came out fairly quickly. The Korean BBQ Spring Rolls are very good! Now for the not so good part. We ordered the fish and chips to split- that was all we ordered after the appetizer and it took forever for our order to be brought to the table. We watched a couple tables around us, get their food before us, and they had been seated after us.. The server had to go back and check on our dish a couple times before it finally came out. I will say the fish and the chips were fabulous, but the corn was terrible and should probably not even be included on the dish. It was WAY overcooked and chewy. The coleslaw left quite a bit to be desired as well. No seasoning, no flavor and was just bland. When it says wasabi coleslaw, I am thinking it is going to have a little bit of a kick to it but nothing. They could definitely save themselves some money by eliminating the corn from this dish, make the coleslaw an option as an up charge and could lower the price on the dish in general or add a third piece of fish instead of the corn and coleslaw. Overall, it's definitely the best fish and chips we've had since moving to the area, but I would order it with no corn or coleslaw next time.

We finally had a chance to try Fishbones on Walker Avenue. We were looking for something casual and…read moreinviting and what we found was a rustic, engaging vibe at Fishbones. We started out with cocktails. I had a Hendricks dry martini straight up (it was delicious) and my wife had a Don't Call Me Sweetie which is mix of Hendrick's Gin, Lemon, Cucumber, Basil, Simple, Saline 15. It is very citrus heavy, so be advised. She had them cut it with a bit of cranberry to offset the citrus. For main courses, my wife had the grilled salmon and she chose sautéed garlic spinach and wasabi slaw as her sides. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my side was blackened green beans. Let's talk main course first. My wife's salmon was terrific. Flaky and moist and very tasty. My shrimp and grits was unique because it was a real balance between large pieces of shrimp and the grits. Many times you'll order this dish and end up with a pile of grits with some shrimp sprinkled on top. This version is very tasty and a really nice balance of flavors. The Cajun seasonings have it some kick, but it did not overpower. The side dishes are where we had a couple of surprises. First off the sautéed spinach was really delicious, but my wife's wasabi slaw was bland. It's a huge shocker because when you see the word wasabi, you expected to have some Asian kick to it. This did not. It was hard to even identify that it had wasabi in it. That was a disappointment. The surprise was the blackened green beans. They actually were one of the stars of the show. Their flavor and texture was just awesome. We could've ordered a huge bowl of it and eaten all of it. While it didn't need it, there was a dipping aïoli on the side, just in case we wanted to add that to the green bean experience. As I mentioned off the start, Fishbones is a very casual experience. It's very pub-like in that way. We really loved it and the wait staff, which is a team approach as anyone who passes you makes sure you're doing OK, were kind, upbeat and helpful. Even with the bland slaw, we can't lower our rating because overall the experience was terrific. We will definitely come back.

I went on a solo mission, and I sat at the bar, one waitress came by and gave me the menus, and another waiter came by and got my drink order and simultaneously another waitress came out and gave me chips and salsa, like a well oiled machine! I put in my crazy request for a veggie torta which of course wasn't on the menu but it was what I wanted, my waitress assured me it wouldn't be a problem and she and the chef delivered! The torta was delicious, there was a smorgasbord of veggies in there. The food came out really quick as well and everything was hot and fresh! I also got a cucumber margarita, they had actually muddled real cucumbers into the margarita and it was delicious. They also had red sauce and green sauces available which elevated the dish perfectly. The black beans were also delicious. The place looks small on the outside but there's a good amount of seating indoors and the bar area is fairly big. Overall though Crazy Mexico #5 had amazing good, impeccable service and a great vibe to it. If they keep this up, we'll be seeing a Crazy Mexico #6 in no time!
