My son, wife, and I had dinner at The Chop House in High Point on a Friday evening February 2, 2026. Great choice. We had made a reservation, which turned out to be smart because the place was busy, with a packed bar and full tables. We were greeted promptly by the maître d and seated right away. The cocktail, beer, and wine list is expansive. I started with a Manhattan, properly made. We kept it simple and ordered entrees only. This was a good call because the portions were just right with sides. All three of us had filets, and I added the surf-and-turf option with a lobster tail, Cabernet mushrooms, and asparagus with béarnaise. The flavors worked well together. We paired dinner with a bottle of Caymus and were impressed by the depth of the wine list -- some serious bottles on there, including Opus One. Service was smooth and perfectly paced. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, which has a cozy, library-like feel with a gas fireplace. We didn't have room for dessert, but the menu featured plenty of classic steakhouse options. For $103, this was a letdown. We ordered a pomegranate martini, a whiskey and Coke, and two "small plates" -- beef medallions with l'orange sauce and the beef short rib. For that price point, I expected quality and execution. It just wasn't there. The short rib was very tender, I'll give it that. But it was swimming in a heavy gravy with potatoes piled on top and steamed spinach hidden underneath, which made the whole dish soggy and overly heavy. Then there was a random orchid blossom and a branch of whole parsley on top (mine had a flower, too), which felt completely out of place. The beef medallions were the bigger issue -- no sear at all and they had a slightly gamey flavor (which I'm hoping doesn't come back to bite me later). Honestly, the l'orange sauce was the best part of the dish and the only thing saving it -- without it, the plate would have been close to inedible. The "crispy potato medley" was neither crispy nor seasoned -- and I mean not even salt. It was mostly zucchini, squash, and red bell pepper with zero flavor. All 6 of the tiny potato cubes themselves tasted like they came straight out of a freezer bag. Nothing was inedible, but nothing justified the price. My husband and I visited the Chop House for our anniversary. This was our first time here. The lights were turned up instead of down and the light on the table was not on. Therefore, not a great ambiance for us. We ordered the Spinach and Artichoke dip which was delicious. For the entree, I got the Sea Bass and my husband got a 6 oz. Filet. This was my first time getting sea bass and I loved it. I also had a Caesar salad. I wish the dressing had anchovies in it too give it a better flavor. So first off the staff, our server lakeisha was phenomenal. She was the sweetest and made the birthday celebration super special. The kitchen staff was awesome as well and came out to say hi to us. Went to Chophouse for an office lunch and had a really good experience overall. The service was a bit on the slower side, which was noticeable given that we were on a lunch break, but the staff was polite and attentive once they got to us. I ordered the fish with the house salad, and it was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly filling. Several of my colleagues tried different items on the menu and everyone seemed pretty happy with their meals. The restaurant itself is very clean, spacious, and has a professional, upscale vibe that makes it perfect for business lunches or more formal gatherings. There's also plenty of seating, so we didn't feel cramped or rushed. One of the highlights was definitely the parking situation--a massive lot with tons of space, which is always a plus when you're coming with a group. I didn't get a drink, but my colleagues tried the tea and said it was really good. I'll probably go for it next time. I was there for a private dining event. Staff was unobtrusive through the presentation, and did their best to quietly serve, enter and exit. One of my pet peeves is when a restaurant menu or in this case, the printed dining menu for the event, lists what accompanies a salad or entree, but main components are not included. For instance, the house salad did not list raw onions, and you guessed it, raw onions were atop the salad. Why bother listing cucumbers, carrots, slivered almonds, and shredded cheese, but not include raw onions? Ordered my filet, which had to be at least 10 oz., medium, but unfortunately, it was prepared medium rare. With so many diners to serve at the event, there wasn't an opportunity to send it back and still end on time. So I ate around the outside of the steak. Disappointing effort when a steakhouse misses on the steak preparation. Other than those two items, the vegetables and mashed potatoes were good, but who comes to a steakhouse for veggies and potatoes? read more

I've been to chop house so many times but I've felt like each time I've gone they've made some changes that constantly hurt them. I started with the calamari and the Brie bread. The calamari is one of the items I think they've changed to the point it is unbearable. Bland and tastes as if it was fresh out the freezer, sadly the sweet Thai chili dressing doesn't save it either. The Brie bread however is delectable. The toasted sweetness of the bread mixed with the savory dip provide such a great mix of flavors. For entrees I ordered the aged ribeye. While it was cooked to my liking but the steak fell short lacking in any real taste to leave an impact compared to other steakhouses. I paired it with the mushrooms and once again another unlikely hero as they were also the star of the show. Tasty and crisp such a great dish to have on the side pair that with the Brussel sprouts and they were amazing. My waitress was great but the service felt slow in moments, and my waitress did apologize due to the fact she hadn't had a break. Which was understanding but she was great nonetheless. There were to many inconsistencies and for a place that is elegantly designed felt very short coming. With its price range it sad that it isn't comparable to similar restaurants. I've had pleasant experiences at chop house in the past but it may be a while before my next visit. Chop House takes care in their presentation. The tables are formally decorated and the choices for dishes, silverware and napkins were very exquisite. The menu choices were hard to choose from, because everything looked appetizing. The highlight of the evening besides the conversation with my party was the waiter. Every time I almost give up on customer service, I run into a Brian who sets the bar very high. He was a top notch waiter with amazing energy. Yes the meal was delicious, but I would come back in hopes that Brian serves me again. He did a phenomenal job serving our table. My dish had an amazing presentation and it tasted amazing. Best thing when brought back still purple and red inside like nothing was done except a round trip back and forth to kitchen. Then to have same issue three times in a row. The third visit and again rare meat arrived sent back came back still purple and red I refused to send back a second time and asked the server to remove from bill. The first time we went was to try. The second time was my birthday. This time was our anniversary. My poor wife has to sit there with her food getting cold while all this goes on. Every time the same as first raw to rare meat while asking for pink or medium. Shame on them for the disrespect to my wife. I will never return or recommend this establishment. Something has changed recently here. This used to be very good. The water quality was absolutely atrocious this visit and tasted like metal. We asked for water bottles and/or new water. The new water was still bad so we chose the bottles. It was $5.25 per bottle and I asked for a comp bc something changed on their quality at lunch. There was no comp (except two bucks lol) and they stated that is not on them. The food was good as usual - but not above par like it used to be. I will not frequent this place anytime soon bc I can get about the same quality for a good price elsewhere. I used to be so impressed with the service and quality of their food. I just feel it has gone downhill in the last months. Pretty sure they've compromised on basic qualities like calamari and some of their steaks. My service, the previous time I was there, took almost two hours to even be completed because of staffing I guess. I don't know for certain what has happened recently, but the last two times have not been terribly pleasant so I'll have to search for a new place now. Went to the chop house for my birthday, very great server, service time was average, we got the bruschetta and it was actually very good and a filling appetizer. I also got the rich lobster Mac and it was really good, I do wish that the price was lower for the portion you're getting but a pretty solid meal. Finally I had the Cheesecake and it was bomb, even fresher than the Cheesecake Factory. Our server, Hank had a great personality and made the experience that much better. He had jokes AND knew the menu well and guided us to the perfect choices! This place really needs to be updated. The interior is similar to a 1990's hotel restaurant, zero vibe. The service was the only bright spot. Food was mid/average at best. We had the crab dip and calamari as appetizers and both were average. The salads were the worst part with zero taste for the Caesar salad. My daughter had the filet and came with basically fries. My cowboy ribeye was cooked as ordered, but was not worth the $75 price tag. $300 for three people with zero alcohol drinks, the place is not worth it. read more

Lived here 5 years, drive by this location almost daily, and this is my first visit for a date night! This location offers bar area and dining seating. We had 6:30pm reservations on a Friday and were seated immediately. Not sure if weather came into play (Hurricane Helene just came through), but I was surprised the dining room wasn't busier. Our server was polite, attentive, and professional. The food was amazing! The baked brie came out piping hot. It was topped with brown sugar pecans and accompanied honey drizzled and cranberry topped apple slices and toast points. It was a bit messy (maybe should've let melted brie cool a bit), but a delicious started/appetizer. For dinner, I ordered Carolina crab cakes. The cakes were all crab on inside with light breading on outside. The pecan remoulade was okay (seemed like an odd paring--it was tasty, but I would probably skip next time). Entree came with julienned veggies, a side (I opted for Cabernet mushrooms), and soup or salad (I chose house salad w/blue cheese dressing--as an FYI, the mesquite seasoning on slivered almonds was a bit strong and overpowering for my taste). Husband opted for (12 oz) Prime Rib Special (Fri-Sat--may be seasonal). The Prime rib was juicy and tender, served with horseradish and au jus, a side (he opted for baked potato) and soup or salad (he swapped for another side--beer battered onion rings). For beverages, my husband opted for Oktoberfest on tap, while I drank water. I believe the ambiance is intimate, however dining area was more loud and social. [An older lady seated next to us relocated to another as she did not was to have to talk louder to her dinner guests.] Dress ranged from casual to more formal. We had a table of boisterously loud talkers (most likely coworkers or friend night out scenario) seated next to us and a large festive birthday group across from us. So if you're looking for a quiet, more intimate setting, maybe mention to host for quieter area and/or seating options. Overall, a very good experience. The brussel sprouts - overcooked mush, highly disappointing. Tenderloin Medallions - I can't. Small filets with the same breakfast potatoes, but at least it was mixed with greens. Chopped salad with filet - delicious, but one of the filets had brussel running through it.. Shocking that it's the same amount of meat as the above, at a much less cost. My visit to chophouse was terrible. What was once an amazing restaurant with an amazing Wedge salad has become an absolutely terrible experience. We waited over an hour and a half for our food and when it finally came in one of the four entrées for our table was missing. Management offered no apology whatsoever. Our important business dinner with our customers was ruined. We will never go back to chophouse again and I suggest that you do the same. When I told the manager, I had lost my appetite after my friend had missed his meal, I was not offered to take the meal home to eat later. In fact, I was offered no apology at all, and the manager simply took my plate of food and walked away without saying a word. How rude! I was disrespected in front of my customers and friends. The only bright spot was that the salad came quickly. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant, except for when I've gotten food poisoning. As a longtime fan of the chophouse, I can confidently say that the restaurant is no longer what it once was. Each year it's gotten worse with longer weights and a worse menu. Do not go back to this restaurant if you've been here before and had a good experience years ago. It is very bad now. I've honestly NEVER had such a bad experience at a restaurant. Our reservation was at 6:30 and we were not seated for 15 minutes. We were given a small table in front of the bar with a group of people staring at us. The pork chop chutney was not sweet like you would think, it was more on the sour side. Next time we'll probably leave that off. The pork chop itself was cooked perfectly and had a fantastic seer. The dessert was the best chocolate cake with a hint of cherry. It reminded of a chocolate Cherry cordial that my grandmother used to love. It was presented beautifully, wouldn't change a thing. It was not served as described on the menu. The sauce it was supposed to be tossed in was served on the side. The calamari was also cold. Lucky the entrees and drinks were better. Photos show what we ordered and we each liked our orders. Sides were a la cart and were piping hot. I definitely recommend the brussel sprouts. The lobster mac and cheese was fair but not the best I've had. Overall, everything was fair. I may return when in the area but wouldn't make a special trip to visit. Good food.
