I pass this place all the time and decided to stop by for dinner. They have a good amount of seating but it seems to be more of a takeout spot so it was a pretty quiet dinner spot. The place overall seemed clean and bright but there were a couple tables that looked like needed to be wiped off. Everything on the menu looked pretty good. I decided to give the catfish nuggets a try with a side of Mac and cheese and collard greens. The nuggets were a lot better than I was expecting. The fish was so flaky and the breading was the perfect about of crispiness. The collard greens were cooked well but were a little bland. Wish it also included a protein or something in it. The mac and cheese tasted a lot better than it looked. It was wasn't great but it was kind of what you'd expect of a fast casual spot. I really liked all the lemonade flavors they had. All of them were pretty good and I definitely recommend trying them out if you're not afraid of a little sugar.

Husband and I had a craving for something fried. This was the closest spot to where we were at. Inside is full of Detroit signage. My husband being from Detroit thought it was very interesting the inside was very clean nice simple set up. I ordered catfish nuggets while my husband ordered fillets I got jalapeños poppers and my husband got French fries. We sat down and they brought the food to us. I thought we would be picking it up at the counter so that was a nice surprise. Our sides came switched on our platters but that wasn't a big deal. We each ordered larges and they were a lot of food we took half home. The hushpuppies were cooked well and the coleslaw had a nice flavor. The actual catfish was seasoned perfectly and fried with enough crunch. Definitely would return to try more of their menu

Let me start by saying OMG!! Y'all the fried corn is everything! This was my first time visiting The Captain's Catch and I will be returning. Saleem said that the fried corn was the best, and I believe it! The service was great and the place had more than enough room to dine if you choose to do so. The vibe was nice, I think you will like it. Try them out, you won't be disappointed.

Decided to visit while in the area and I wasn't disappointed. For $16+ tax you can get a 2 protein combo with a side and drink. I got the chicken tenders and fried whiting filets. Everything was fresh and made to order. Both meats were seasoned to perfection. Plenty of seating if you care to dine in. I'm not in the area often, but I'm sure I'll be back!

This message is directly for Musa Z, the owner who previously responded to my former reviews. Please follow up with me. Today I called while walking through Food Lion, hoping to order and have it ready to pick up quickly. I called and when someone finally picked up they put me on hold and never came back. I purposefully kept the line active to see if they'd come back or to show them when I got to the restaurant. The guy just said "well I just took someone's order" which meant the phone was working. While waiting another person came in and asked if the phone was working. Apparently it was but they are being selective with orders which impacts your profits.

Pick 2 is the way for me to go, I eat lot after an intense workout I decided I wanted some seafood, not ideal after workout but moderation is key. I ordered picked two comes with fries and drink. I got fried corn on the cob and added coleslaw with shrimp and whitening. The fish was fried crispy and flavorful the shrimp as well, it's almost like they used a different seasonings or breading. Will be back when I want some quick seafood by far one of the best compared to a liby hills or long john. The sides are seasoninged I recommend the corn and coleslaw, next time I will try mac and cheese. Overall portion for the price 4.5 out of 5 .

We ordered take out on Friday for lunch and got a bunch of things to try. We ordered fries, hush puppies, the fried chicken sandwich, catfish nuggets, fried corn on the cob, and Mac n cheese. Overall, everything was great. The breading on the fried items was good, the sauces were great, and the flavor was great as well! The only notes we had is that the seasoning on the fries wasn't distributed evenly (but still really good) We definitely recommend the catfish nuggets and the fried corn on the cob!

This is a compact, primarily takeout spot (though there is some inside seating) with a similarity compact menu - Fried Seafood (fish, shrimp & oysters), Chicken (including wings & tenders - but go for the legs and thighs), country cooking sides (including Fried Corn and Mac & Cheese), and a couple of dessert choice. On this visit I chose the Fried Cod with Fried Corn (on the cob). The order was ready in just under 15 minutes, and couldn't have been more on point. The 2 nice sized pieces of Cod were nicely battered (not to heavy), and perfectly fried, flaky under the batter, as it should be. The Fried Corn was delicious, well covered in butter - not the healthiest way to eat corn, my how good. The several Hushpuppies were nice as well, with just a touch of sweetness on the back end of a bite! Ambiance - 3.5 Food - 4.5 Service -3.5 (efficient but aloof) Value - 4

The fish is fried fresh when ordered so it is always hot and the portions are generous. The place is average noise levels and very clean. There is not table service but the staff were all friendly and courteous. I had the daily special which was a choice of any two meats with a side and drink. I chose the catfish and flounder. You get two pieces of each.

This is not only my top seafood boil bag place in the city butttt this is also where I go when I'm craving raw oysters like tonight. My hands are always messy here so I'm never able to get photos but I don't think I need evidence of the glutinous activities I divulge in here. Tonight I had a dozen and a half of oysters for my starter with garlic butter and lemon pepper boil sauce on the side & extra extra lemons and let me tell you they did not disappoint. They're usually bigger but it is winter so I won't complain. The bar is always hit or miss hence the missing star and tonight it was a miss for me. I order the gone fishing fish bowl and asked for extra sour it was extremely flat and felt like it was missing something. They definitely didn't add the extra sour either. I gave the drink to my companion as not to waste but it wasn't worth it. For my boil bar I had craw fish and green mussels in Gallic butter and Cajun hot with a side of rice and eggs. It was phenomenal per usual. Very consistent and delicious. The restaurant was great tonight. Friday. On the weekends it can get extremely loud when they are doing live music. Those are my least favorite nights. You have to yell over the music to hear the person right next to you. But tonight the music was at an appropriate volume. ( at the point when the boil came out my hands had oyster on them but it was amazing I promise )

We started out with cocktails. I had a Hendricks dry martini straight up (it was delicious) and my wife had a Don't Call Me Sweetie which is mix of Hendrick's Gin, Lemon, Cucumber, Basil, Simple, Saline 15. It is very citrus heavy, so be advised. She had them cut it with a bit of cranberry to offset the citrus. For main courses, my wife had the grilled salmon and she chose sautéed garlic spinach and wasabi slaw as her sides. I ordered the shrimp and grits and my side was blackened green beans. Let's talk main course first. My wife's salmon was terrific. Flaky and moist and very tasty. My shrimp and grits was unique because it was a real balance between large pieces of shrimp and the grits. Many times you'll order this dish and end up with a pile of grits with some shrimp sprinkled on top. This version is very tasty and a really nice balance of flavors. The Cajun seasonings have it some kick, but it did not overpower. The side dishes are where we had a couple of surprises. First off the sautéed spinach was really delicious, but my wife's wasabi slaw was bland. It's a huge shocker because when you see the word wasabi, you expected to have some Asian kick to it. This did not. It was hard to even identify that it had wasabi in it. That was a disappointment. The surprise was the blackened green beans. They actually were one of the stars of the show. Their flavor and texture was just awesome. We could've ordered a huge bowl of it and eaten all of it. While it didn't need it, there was a dipping aïoli on the side, just in case we wanted to add that to the green bean experience. As I mentioned off the start, Fishbones is a very casual experience. It's very pub-like in that way. We really loved it and the wait staff, which is a team approach as anyone who passes you makes sure you're doing OK, were kind, upbeat and helpful. Even with the bland slaw, we can't lower our rating because overall the experience was terrific. We will definitely come back.

Husband and I popped in for a week night dinner after doing some holiday shopping. It's a small, but very cute place. Can sit at the bar or at one of the high top tables. I enjoy sitting by the fish tank they have toward the back. I love their peel and eat shrimp, so we decided to get a pound as an appetizer. These shrimp are the big guys and I highly recommend asking for the Old Bay seasoning on them. I tried to limit my use of the melted butter (of course yum) which wasnt too hard as their cocktail sauce is pretty darn good. The balance of sweet, spicy, and tangy in their preparation is spot on. For entrees we went with two of their most popular dishes. Hubby ordered the farm-raised catfish. This dish comes with certain sides but you can customize, he got the slaw and blackened green beans. I got the blackened ahh tuna medium rare which comes with your choice of two sides. I went for corn and the blackened green beans. My tuna was perfectly prepared and hit the spot. I received two big half pieces of golden yellow corn. It had nice subtle sweetness. Their blackened green beans are a must try. Perfectly seasoned. The creamy dipping sauce is also delish but tried to limit use. This was a lot of food and very healthy. I left plenty full with no guilt. Everything was superb. The service was also very attentive. No issue getting a table on a weeknight. There is something for everyone on the menu. I've never been able to convince myself to get anything but seafood as their specialty, but they do have options for meat-lovers and even some vegetarian and vegan options available. I bet they are good too. Be sure to look at their Facebook page and website to see their weekly Specials. After you give Fishbones a try you, like me, are going to think you should come more often each time you do!

I'm not a huge croissant person but wow these were really fresh & so flaky. The Philly cheesesteak egg rolls really surprised me because I didn't expect to love them so much. They had a lot of flavor & were so crispy. They came with 2 sauces - a sweet & spicy chilli sauce & then a creamier sauce. Both were amazing & paired really well with the egg rolls. For my meal, I had a salad with a side of fries. The salad was delicious - it also comes with a croissant. The fruit in the salad was so fresh & some of the blackberries were huge. It also had goat cheese, candied pecans & dried cranberries. I ordered it with the raspberry vinaigrette per our waiter's recommendation and it was the perfect dressing. The fries were shoestring fries & had the perfect amount of salt & crispiness. Everyone else in my party ordered the prime rib & they all agreed it was exceptional. For dessert I tried the tiramisu affogato and it was perfect. It had vanilla ice cream & mascarpone - the mascarpone was a nice touch. Our service was amazing too. Our waiter had a lot of recommendations & you could tell she genuinely enjoyed the food there, which is always a good sign. She was quick to bring us refills and very attentive. We settled in on the small outdoor patio on a very fine spring evening for a meal that hit the spot each point along the line. Well... Maybe except for their chairs. These chairs were not the kind you would usually sit outside to eat in, more built for reclining with a drink in hand. It was not comfortable to sit forward and eat my meal. But man, was that meal ever delicious. Chips came out with three types of salsa, and we ordered the guacamole provincial to go with them as well. The chips on their own were decent, but each salsa had a unique flavor and amount of heat that kept things interesting. The guacamole was chunky and full of flavor, with a good enough portion for the four of us. When the meal came, it was clear I had won dinner. I got the "Mezcali's Best" which honestly, I think it was their best effort. Grilled steak, chicken, shrimp, onions, peppers, and zucchini in a chipotle queso sauce. Man. THAT SAUCE. That sauce just simply made the whole thing incredible. To the point when I cleared my plate, my wife had me scrape the sauce onto what was left of hers. In addition, the refried beans had an excellent flavor, I am not usually big on the beans... but this one had me wanting more. Chips used to scoop up some beans, rice, and sauce... were so so good. I would definitely come back here, probably sit inside, and order the Mezcali's best (or anything I can get that chipotle queso sauce on) again.

The margaritas are massive as well. They also offer a lunch menu with quite a few options at a lower price, which is always appreciated. Chips and salsa are complimentary, with three different salsas to choose from: mild, verde, and spicy. All three had great flavor. The chips themselves weren't quite as fresh as I'd like and didn't come out hot or warmed. My server saw how much I loved the salsas and kept refilling. She was awesome! For this weekday lunch, I went with the Burrito Vallarta with chicken. Rice, beans, avocado, and a tasty hot sauce inside, with sour cream, pico de gallo, and lettuce on the side. Everything tasted fresh and the burrito as a whole was juicy and flavorful. The chicken was shredded and just a bit tough. I personally prefer freshly grilled chunks or strips, but it was still good overall. All in all, this is a nice addition to the shopping center and a solid option for Mexican food in the area.

We decided to try different versions of their tex mex combinations in order to taste a number of different items on the menu. My wife opted for the combination with two options while I went for the three. Her two were a soft chicken taco and a chili relleno. My three were an enchilada, a soft taco, and a quesadilla. Let's talk first about the stars of each dish. The chili relleno was very flavorful and my wife enjoyed it immensely. For me the quesadilla, which, if you look at the picture, it appears more like a taco, was also very delicious. It was a unique version of a quesadilla, as it was not pressed as they normally are on a flat top. As for the rest of our meals, the entrées suffered from a serious lack of seasoning and flavor. The refried beans were bland and non-descript. The red sauce on the enchilada was more like a marinara sauce. It had very little Mexican spice and flavor. Both of our soft tacos were mostly cheese and lettuce, and the meat, in our case chicken, was not seasoned very well. Once again, it all leaned bland. A few other things to point out. The margaritas we had were tasty, but the "16" ounce glass seems closer to 12 and it was 70% ice as you will see in the pictures. I will also say that a vast majority of the menu is very pricey. We are always willing to pay more for great food. Sadly, the food at Gusgueras falls short.

The inside seating is mostly bar seating, it does get packed, and does not take reservations. You can expect to wait if you come at dinner time but it's SO worth it.

Recently I enjoyed a Friday evening with dinner at the Full Moon. The location was extremely busy…read moreand full of patrons enjoying meals. The layout of the restaurant was interesting with large central bars. The menu is the star at this restaurant being a seafood lovers dream. Aw a walk in it took about 45 mins to get seated but with Adjacency to good local bars time flew past. The service you received was as good as could be expected with a busy bay. The shrimp cocktail was tasty but the shrimp are extremely small and only 6 so definitely not a shareable. I had the chargrilled oysters and they had great potential. All the flavors were there but they were left a bit too long to cook and half my order was burnt. The soup was phenomenal, as was the peel and eat shrimp. I would love to go back on a day that isn't as hectic and hope for better oyster. The potato salad did make up for a couple of the black shells.
