Collard Green Eggs Rolls

Let me first say, she did an amazing job updating this restaurant! Literally a little hidden gem! I haven't had a bad experience yet! The food was amazing and the staff is super friendly! Ashley is an amazing bartender the blueberry lemon drops are a must have!!! Everything I have tried was great! Also, on Thursday nights go and enjoy some music , food and drink specials !!

This is just as good as the Greensboro location! Our waitress was so sweet. Portions are generous and delicious. I got the fried flounder with cabbage and greens. They brought out mac and cheese instead of cabbage but quickly corrected the mistake. I also ordered a Manhattan which was great. This is located downtown and would be perfect for family dinners. There were even rooms available for rent. The restaurant wasn't busy on Sunday night. I'd recommend to anyone looking for catering or a good meal.

Parking lot, no charge. Facility and bathrooms were welcoming and clean. Con: Saturday- Only brunch and small bites available. Full menu available at 3pm. Decor is dark black with gold accents but very modern and relaxing. Food came out in a timely manner. Chicken wings tender, hot and fresh, waffle flavored with cinnamon. Choice of potatoes or grits and eggs. Small bites included six party wings with French fries. I wanted to sample the main menu for catering possibilities, but unavailable so I will have to try another time.

Ok, I came back and have been so pleased the last two times. I'm really glad they have settled in and now it's an amazing experience. I have a seafood allergy and was so pleased to learn they have separate fryers. I was able to freely order from the menu w/o cross contamination and they reassured me each time. I've had the holiday rolls and the collard green rolls and they were piping hot coming out. I came for Sunday dinner and the football game and got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and collards and all of it was amazing. The bartenders are extremely pleasant. I'm so glad I gave it a 2nd chance, definitely coming back for karaoke Thursday.

Oxtails over rice with Mac and cheese and collard greens

I drove pass this restaurant several hours earlier but couldn't stop, and decided to come back later in the evening. This restaurant is popular because the parking was consistently filled. I had seen other reviews online and thought I'd be in for a grab-and-go service (Yelpers, be better than me, that's the Greensboro location). The restaurant looks great, I look forward to dining in when I have the opportunity. The bartender was fabulous, she was serving tables and taking to-go orders, and didn't miss a beat. The food took about 25 minutes to come out (accurately quoted from the bartender) and was still great on arriving home, 20 minutes away. The beef rib was big and mostly tender (a little tough/dry in a few places but the bbq sauce helped with that) and the candied yams were really good. I loved the fresh green beans and the fact that they were still crisp, I just wished they had cooked a tad bit longer. The oxtail, served over rice but you could also get mashed potatoes, were good (not overcooked or too tender to the point of mushiness) and had a good amount of gravy with them. The Mac and cheese was baked goodness and the collard greens had good flavor but a little too much sugar for my liking. If you're looking for a good, southern, hearty dish that tastes great, please give this business a try. I can't wait to return and try other things on the menu.

JERK Chicken, potato Salad, Yams and the Macaroni and cheese was sooooo good.

Lamb chops, Mac and cheese and collard greens

This place has me in a chokehold. I haven't dined in yet but the takeout service was excellent. While waiting for my order of lamb chops, Mac and cheese and collard greens I ordered the blueberry lemon drop which is so refreshing and delicious. The food is delicious This wasn't my first visit and I have been several times. The customer service from entering the establishment to the bar service was excellent. I have No complaints about anything. The ambiance is very inviting and subtle with music playing I'm sure everyone enjoys. Very happy to have this establishment in Gibsonville

I always want to try and support small business and hope the food is outstanding but today didn't make the mark. Very disappointed in the beef tips and gravy with mac & cheese and squash casserole. I saw a picture from another review and thought it looked very good but mine didn't look anything like the other customers. I was really shocked at how small the portion was especially with the sides and there was hardly any rice up under the beef tips. This is a $15 meal here, I think you could do better than this. I'm a mac & cheese connoisseur and your mac & cheese just doesn't do it for me. Hopefully you could see this constructive criticism and maybe tweak a few things to make it a better experience.

I really wanted to like Nana Morrison's in Cary because I had heard so much hype about it, but this…read morewas a huge disappointment for me. As an African American woman, soul food is more than just food to me. There's a certain authenticity and flavor I expect when I walk into a soul food restaurant. I ordered several items and after tasting everything, I honestly ended up throwing the entire meal away. I took a bite or spoonful of each item just to give everything a fair chance, and every time I moved on to the next thing, it was another disappointment. The mashed potatoes had a strange aftertaste that I couldn't get past. I don't know if it was the gravy or something else, but something tasted off. The barbecue ribs tasted more boiled than slow cooked and were completely drenched in sauce. The cabbage was overwhelmed with vinegar and lacked seasoning. The mac and cheese tasted more like overcooked noodles with cheese instead of flavorful baked mac and cheese. The cornbread was dry, and even the cake was dry. I will say the restaurant was clean and the employees were friendly, so I have no complaints there. My issue was with the food quality and value for the price. Spending around $30 for a meal like this did not feel worth it at all. Maybe other people love it, but based on my experience, I don't understand the hype. The food just did not taste authentic or well prepared to me. I wish I had stuck with my original plans and just gone to Mikey's Diner in Wilson, North Carolina instead. At least I would have left satisfied. For me, this wasn't worth the drive, wasn't worth the money, and I won't be returning.

Hidden flavor alert in Greensboro!…read more I'll be honest--I passed on Aunt E's for a while because I hadn't seen many people talking about it. The one person I did see post wasn't even an influencer, just someone I trusted... and I'm glad I finally listened. Because whew ‍ the flavor here is REAL. Everything we had was seasoned well, cooked with care, and tasted like someone who actually loves feeding people was in the kitchen. Nothing felt rushed or generic. It's the kind of place where you can tell the food is made with intention, not shortcuts. If you've been sleeping on Aunt E's like I was, consider this your sign. Greensboro, y'all were lowkey hiding this one. Even tho we didn't eat in the ambiance and vibe was still friendly! A bit pricey! We'll definitely be back. -- Toni

I got 2 cheesesteak egg rolls as an appetizer. I got the 3 whole wings with cabbage and mashed potatoes as a side. I also got aunt e's spiked punch. In my opinion, the "spiked" part of the punch was missing... The alcoholic beverage came 10 mins later at 1:32pm. Faith brought dinner rolls at 1:34pm The egg rolls came at 1:36pm. They were DELICIOUS! I would return just for these, honestly. This was the highlight of the whole experience. My entree came at 1:52pm and my friend's food came a minute later. The chicken was just okay. It wasn't crispy as I expected it to me and lacked flavor. The cabbage and mashed potatoes were fine. The appetizer was wonderful but the entree and drink was more disappointing than anything. I would return to try something else. The seating did seem cluttered and close as well.

Between excellent service, from the host to the kitchen staff, and being a bright, cheery place decorated in a modern farmhouse feel (only complaint is the HARD seating), we love this place. The food is always delicious and seasoned perfectly with FLAVOR. For the appetizer, the Salad Pizza is absolutely scrumptious and was recommended by our server our first visit here last year. Honestly, it keeps bringing us back. The flavors are incredible. It has feta, mozzarella, topped with organic greens, shaved onions, tossed in a lemon/dijon dressing with shaved parmesan. It's a flavor bomb in the mouth. The meatloaf, is to die for. If you're a meatloaf eater this is for you. It's so tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. Melts in your mouth and the sauce on top is the perfect blend of sweet and savory to top it off. For my two sides this time I chose the fried brussels sprouts and the greens. The greens are always seasoned perfectly and the brussels sprouts were crispy and full of flavor. They tasted even better dipped in my meatloaf sauce so that was a win-win. My boyfriend had the special which was short ribs. For his two sides, he had greens and green beans. The short rib was perfectly tender and absolutely delicious full of flavor and moist for him. The green beans and the greens were also perfect as well full of flavor, just enough fat and butter. It's a great little date spot or a family dinner. They also have outdoor seating covered with umbrellas. There's a bar inside with a TV if you choose to go watch sports and the food here is always on point full of flavor and makes you want to come back and try more things on the menu. You can't go wrong at southern roots.
