Absolutely no frills breakfast restaurant located in Burlington. We went early on a Saturday morning, but it was about a 10 minute wait for a table. Service was quick and friendly. We stopped in for breakfast on church street. The restaurant is very cozy sporting a casual ambiance. The service was spot on and efficient. Shout out to our waitress! The food was delicious! The cheese eggs I had were on par with Waffle House. The grits and country ham were very good too. I love little places like these much better than the franchised chains. They serve lunch too . My wife and I came here for breakfast. All the staff was extremely friendly. I ordered eggs, hash-browns and sausage with pancakes. Waitress recommended 1 pancake and I was like nah ill have 2. She was right haha they are huge pancakes! It was a nice place with a casual ambiance. I would definitely recommend for breakfast. The service and food was terrible. We went on Memorial Day so we expected to wait however we sat down at the table waited 28 mins for our drinks then waited another 38 mins for our food , almost a hour later we get out food and it was so mid. 60$ later and a hour after arriving we finally eat and the pancakes were too big like barely fit on your plate and the waitress so was terrible, she was a bigger lady with short purple hair and she barely ever came back besides asking everyone in the room did they want coffee refill. read more

One of the good things we've found since moving to North Carolina are a plethora of mom and pop restaurants, many of which are only open for breakfast and lunch. Lately, our restaurant of choice has been Carver's. This is a no-frills restaurant located on Church street in Burlington, NC. The decor is simple and basic, breakfast is great and very reasonably priced. Service is consistently very good. My wife normally gets an egg on a biscuit and orange juice diluted with water. Our server this morning, Tracy, remembered my wife's preferences. I've had many breakfast items on the menu and all have been good. My favorited seems to be two eggs over medium, grilled pork loin, hash browns and toast. The eggs are almost always done perfectly and the grilled pork loin is very tasty. This morning I tried their biscuit for the first time. Wow!!! Definitely the best biscuit I've ever had (and I've had a few since moving to NC almost 4 years ago). If you're in Burlington, try Carver's for breakfast. read more

We discovered that both our first and second choices for a nice Saturday lunch were only open for dinner, so we turned to the always solid Carver's.We tried two the day's lunch special - Spaghetti with Meat Sauce (with Garlic Bread and a trip to the small salad bar), and Country Style Steak with Fried Okra & Creamed Potatoes with Gravy. Both meals were very, very good. The Salad with the house Thousand Dressing was a nice start, the Spaghetti was excellent, with a nice meaty sauce, and the garlic bread completed the dish. The Country Style Steak was equally good, with a nice piece of excellent meat smothered in a rich, thick gravy. The creamed potatoes were perfect, and the fried okra was just right. This is one of my favorite places to eat. Every day they have a new special. The beef tips is probably my favorite. Or maybe the meatloaf. I don't know it's all good. Came in Saturday morning around 9:20, once we put our order in for omelets around 9:30, we did not receive our food till almost 40 minutes after. I understand if the kitchen is running behind especially when busy, but our waitress did not come to our table once during our wait to tell us anything. Once the food finally arrived, there was no apology or any mention of us waiting that long for our food. Very poor first experience at this restaurant and will not be coming back. read more

Stopped in on a snowy day for some good comfort food. Tracey was an amazing server. She recommended the country style steak and it was yum yum good. I had the cream potatoes and macaroni and cheese. Today was my first time here I had heard a lot about this restaurant and wanted to check it out for myself. I ordered the western omelette, all the veggies were cooked perfectly it was delicious. Choices of sides were grits home fries or hash browns and I got the home fries, they were crispy on the outside I think they were baked potatoes from the day before which is perfectly fine with me. Food and service was fine. However, it's obvious they are not taking Covid mask guidelines seriously. Not one server was properly wearing masks almost all of them had them pulled below their nose. The tables aren't really distanced well so you feel on top of other diners. Plenty of people entering and walking around the business without masks. Let me start by saying our waitress was very attentive and nice; however the food itself was not very good. Our meals came out and looked and tasted like they had been heated up in the microwave (not very good either) as they were more warm instead of hot and fresh. My wife and I try to find new places to eat for breakfast each week. So far, this place is the BEST we have been to. The staff were very friendly and attentive even though they were busy; we did not have to wait for anything because our server checked in with us several time throughout the visit and refilled out drinks before we ever had to ask...which is a first in a long time here in Burlington for any restaurant. We both ordered omelets, my wife got the southwest and I got the corned beef hash. Both came with hash browns and I ordered a side of grits with mine. The food came out hot and the omelets were quite large. The toast and biscuits were warm and buttered. For the first time in a long time, I could not eat the entire plate and had to get a to-go box (for our boxer). The entire meal was around $22, but that included a large tip because the service was outstanding. The same meal at Cracker Barrel last week cost around $28 with tip.
