Service is very friendly, and as quick as possible, considering that stuff seems to be made to order. I ordered a chicken kebab platter which comes over a bed of basmati rice, possibly with saffron. Whatever the rice tasted great and it wasn't dry like at a lot of places. The chicken was marinated in a tangy yogurt-spice mix, grilled and topped with a tahini sauce. Delicious! As sides I got mujadara and roasted vegetables which were also tasty. I'll be back for takeout for sure in the future.

"Bodega-like Mediterranean Grill & Grocery in Parkwood area of Durham"…read more This place is WAY off the beaten path for most, but I'm so happy to have gotten to try it out. Nestled in a little strip between a Muslim school and a mosque is this grill and grocery. We came on a Wednesday evening, and almost every table was already taken by diners. You order your food at a counter, and it has the Middle Eastern foods you'd expect-- kofta, shawarma, gyros, falafel, baba ghanouj, hummus, baklava, etc. I opted for the lamb gyro sandwich with a side of baba ghanouj, and my dining partner had the falafel sandwich. They call your number when it's ready. Food took maybe 10 minutes to receive, so we browsed the market area. It's not a huge selection, but very traditional-- nice seeing so many labels in Arabic, and along with standards (e.g., canned fava beans for Ful Medames), they also had things like frozen chopped mulukhiyah leaves-- that's definitely a rarer sight. Lots of good spices too. The food was EXCELLENT. The lamb was juicy and perfect (unlike what another Yelp review said), the tzatziki sauce was delicious, and the baba ghanouj was perfectly cooked and textured. I had a small bite of the falafel, and it was indeed one of the best I've had in the US. Price was fair, too-- the sandwiches are all under $10 before tax and tip, and making it a combo with side and drink cost just something like $2.50. And service was friendly-- although they called out numbers, they did walk out with the food to try to find and bring you your dishes. And while it was an older space, it was overall still generally clean. Overall, I'd VERY happily come back.

We were seated immediately at a clean, spacious table. The restaurant soon filled up around us, and though I could see how popular it indeed was, the tables were well spaced and it wasn't too loud. We began with the red pepper hummus with pita bread, and it was absolutely delicious. Smooth, rich, full of flavor. The portion was generous -- more than enough for two people. We ended up ordering an additional side of pita bread to finish it off, and practically scraped the plate, it was that good. For my main, I had the Mediterranean grilled chicken sub. Like with the hummus, the portion was huge and every bite was bursting with flavor. The chicken was well seasoned and it was one of those perfectly assembled, bursting to the seams with toppings, kind of sandwiches that make you go "oh yeah, this is why people order sandwiches!" Everyone there was friendly, and our server was super attentive. The menu was also pretty expansive, so we won't be running out of things to try anytime soon. All in all, I would highly recommend this to anyone.

It may just be THE MOST authentic and nostalgic Turkish Food I've had since leaving Turkey over 30 years ago. The Adana Kabab Platter is Chef's Kiss. Soooo incredibly delicious. They had the Adana as a wrap for a special one time...which comes with handmade pita type bread and a few simple and flavorful toppings and I swear it took me all the way back to Ankara. ZeeYum also has beef borek which trust me...is hard to find in the States. I've tried probably 50+ Turkish restaurants around the US over the years and not one has had beef borek. I was told beef borek is not native to Turkey and that they "Americanized" the borek adjacent to the AFB. Its typically made with feta. So I was sooo happy to finally discover a place that actually had beef borek. And boooy did it take me back. The baklava. The Turkish coffee. The ambiance all add to the experience. Please do yourself a favor and have yourself a meal here. I guarantee it will be memorable...as memorable as the food I actually ate IN Turkey over 30 years ago. Gule gule.

They are also always fried to perfection and the pastry dough is always flaky and delicious! They've got other vegetables in them other than the potatoes and chickpeas, but I'm not sure which ones they are but I do know that they are all delicious because the combination of them make a beautiful melody in your mouth. they are also slightly spicy, but you are given a spicy sauce if that's your thing...
