My friend Michael and I were meeting for dinner to celebrate our birthdays. It was in November, but you know how it goes! LOL. Anyway, we were happy to finally get together in January, and knowing that I was way overdue for another Yelp review, we decided to pick something new for me to critique, so we decided based on some recommendations I saw online, to try Zeeyum Kitchen. Zeeyum Kitchen is located in a big shopping center on Market Street with plenty of parking. It's curb appeal was limited and a little hard to spot but I didn't care as long as the meal delivered. I would have to say the same about the inside. It was pleasant enough but nothing particularly inviting or welcoming. We were promptly seated and warmly welcomed and asked if we wanted something to drink. I decided to start off with my Diet Coke and was disappointed when she showed up with a can. No glass, no ice, and no refills. Ugh! The menu was kind of limited but filled with traditional favorites. I thought it was a little bit on the expensive side considering the atmosphere, etc. but nothing is cheap anymore. I had had a big lunch so I decided to go with the falafel salad. Although the menu mentioned all kinds of ingredients in the salad, it looked to me like mine was basically spinach and falafel. I was disappointed. Michael ordered the chicken and rice and vegetables and said it was tasty. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. We had a lot to catch up on and sat there for over 2 and 1/2 hours and I appreciated that the wait staff was happy to have us stay and enjoy our conversation. Maybe we would have wanted coffee or dessert but no one never asked. I don't mean to knock Zeeyum Kitchen, and I wish them the best of luck, but I will not be back. The quality and portion of my salad cannot compare to Odeh's or the hearty, well-priced meal at Nazareth Bread. I've also enjoyed Sarah's Kebab shop and Mykonos. Zeeyum Kitchen unfortunately is at the bottom of the list for me. read more

First time trying Turkish food and it was delicious! It's a family owned restaurant and the owner came by and made sure we were doing okay and the waitress was nice and helpful. There's plenty of seating and we didn't have to wait to be seated. The dishes came out at a reasonable time. I ordered the bugu kebabi and the presentation as you can see is impressive. It comes with rice and a salad which is nice. The lamb is tender but I wish that it was more seasoned. The yogurt sauce is came with adds a little flavor but it's subtle. The beyti kebab though was very flavorful and my favorite dish. The kunefe was also delicious. I would love to come back try their other dishes! read more

Back for a second time and my youngest son now says it's his favorite restaurant. This place is a hidden gem! Both times we've eaten on a Thursday evening around 6:15 and sat right down. Family owned, authentic Turkish restaurant (decor and food) with lots of parking space. Both times we've eaten here, the owner has come out of the kitchen and made rounds, greeting and saying hello to each table. Love this! You can truly tell the staff wants you to enjoy the food and experience. We got a couple repeat dishes as well as tried a couple new ones. MUST try the cheese appetizer. Z is such a great guy. When he first started the food truck, it was all about his love of his food and sharing it. Since he's open the restaurant it reflects that warmth as does the amazing food. Great space with ample seating. There are many Mediterranean and Middle Eastern restaurants in The Triad. This one is definitely another great one and different from others with its delightful Turkish twists. Very early on the food truck, he made his now famous Z's salad (that is legendary but being vegetarian I asked if he could do falafel, in place of chicken, which he did, and it became part of his menu. Best food in Greensboro hands down! I'm a huge foodie, I've tried a lot of restaurants in Greensboro - and this by far was my favorite. Every single thing we ate blew me away, it was so fresh so flavorful, everything was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed really enjoyed the feta borek, it was insanely good. Wait till you get the dessert though, we had a Dubai chocolate cheesecake that they shipped in from Turkey that was killer but the real star of the show was the homemade baklava, it was juicy, crunchy and one of the best things I have ever tried. Redirected when my first choice restaurant was full, I found this place without a lot of time to spare. It turned out to be a winner. A vegetarian menu yielded my falafel wrap, which was really a fantastic rendition with a cool mint sauce and just enough pickles vegetables and an abundance of falafel with just the right mix of moistness inside and crispness outside. A Turkish tea was a good way to wash things down. The dessert spread is the kind that would be hard to walk away from. I did not need dessert at the time, but walked out with a baklava that I ate later that was again texturally delightful, the soft and crispy layers being intermingled with chocolate and pistachio. Started with the Turkish Coffee! It was not to strong very creamy with a touch of sweetness. Then we had the borek with ground beef was warm flakey crust light and airy on the inside the beef brings in the flavor. Dipped in the sauce and I had the Sucuk with eggs a very simple dish the sausage had tons of flavor it cooked in with the oil which then season the rest of the plate. You will be scraping it up with your bread. We tried a couple of their desserts. The chocolate milky baklava was my favorite. Service was good. Our waitress was very knowledgeable. I took my wife go Zeeyum kitchen last night for dinner. It was busy, so I'm glad I made a reservation. We had a Zee's. Chicken salad, chicken wrap and the Simit (Turkish bagel) with clotted cream and cherry sauce. The food was delivered hot and SO TASTY!! The chicken was perfect and the seasonings are miraculous. But the cherry sauce and clotted cream with the simit --- they are to die for!! We licked the plates clean! Do yourself a favor and try this place, it's a hidden gem! I was nearby in Winston Salem and decided on lunch on the way home. My wife wanted to stop in Greensboro, so we came to Zeeyum based solely on the reviews of my fellow Yelpers. We were warmly greeted by a hostess and promptly seated. The menu has a lot to offer, which I like. My wife got the chicken and rice entree and I got the steak wrap. For apps, I got some Falafel. The falafel was warm and quite flavorful and the pesto sauce was a great compliment. The steak wrap had incredible flavor and you can tell from the tenderness of the meat that it had been marinated. Awesome flavor in a warm wrap. It hit the spot just right. The chicken and rice were quite flavorful and tender as well. We had zero complaints with our meal. Impeccable service, fresh ingredients and pride show up prominently when you visit Zeeyum Kitchen. I've heard of their food before but wasn't too sure of how to find their mobile location. Imagine how thrilled I was today when I googled 'salad near me' to find that they now have a brick and mortar location that is less than 3 miles from my house. The Turkish music, beautiful, native furniture and decor, courteous, responsive, service minded family and staff are enough alone to bring me back even if the food was so so. However bag was far from the case. I ordered not Turkish tea, the melted cheese platter apppetizer, and the Kofte platter for my dine in experience. Needless to say as a party of one, to go boxes were necessary but only after I'd consumed as much as my appetite would allow. Purchased some wraps and chicken/rice for my teen back home and the car smelled absolutely wonderful by the time I pulled up in my driveway - few minutes later. One of the things I adore about this city is its history of strong, authentic international communities and flavors. The food is always good! I will go back until I try everything on the menu. This time I got the Kofte Platter! It comes with Turkish meatballs with onions and tomatoes on a hot clay plate served with pita bread, rice, Z's salad and yogurt. The service is always nice and friendly. I like the way you get to learn traditions and about the ingredients that go into the dishes. Order tea and the server told me if I didn't need anymore tea to put the tea spoon on the top of glas. We've been here a few times now and everytime its really good. First, you have to get their hummus, its different somehow and much better than normal humas. Not as pasty, better mouth feel, better flavor, and served with deep fried pita crisps that are so good. We've had several different menu items, all have been very good. This was my first time having Turkish food, and I can't imagine it being any better than Chef Z's recipes. My favorite things I tried were two appetizers that I can't remember the names of (one was was bean-based and the tomato-based), the rice, a lentil soup special, and the baklava. I usually don't even like baklava because it usually has too much honey, but this was SO fresh and balanced perfectly with pistachio paste. Actually, everything was super fresh and balanced. My wife and I visited Zeeyum Kitchen at a recommendation of a friend. To say that we were blown away is an understatement. The shopping center where the restaurant is located is nondescript to a bit run down, but don't let that dissuade you! Once you enter you are transported to Istanbul itself. We both had borek as an appetizer and the Turkish meatballs as our entrees. Verrrryyy delicious and filling. Then the house baklava and Turkish coffee. I asked one of my friends where to eat in Greensboro, and she highly recommended Zeeyum Kitchen! My boyfriend and I had never had Turkish food, but we were intrigued since we both love Greek food. We were immediately surprised by how nice the restaurant looks on the inside. It's decorated beautifully! The music also made for a great atmosphere. We both have small appetites, and our waitress suggested we could share one of the meals. We got Bugu Kebap (slow cooked lamb and vegetables within a layer of bread along with accompanying yogurt and a bean salad) which was a plenty of food for us. It was all very delicious! The lamb was tender and flavorful and we both also loved the bread. I like the tanginess of the yogurt and the bean salad with the lamb. My dad and I ate at Zeeyum for the first time last night and it was the best food we've had in Greensboro in a long time! The staff was wonderful. A man and a woman that I presume (but not certain) are the owners were great; explaining things on the menu and a very funny story about why Raki is called "Lion's milk." If you like anise, try the Raki with the Meze Plate! Amazing! For entrees my dad had the Bugu Kebab with lamb and I had the Veggie Pide- both outstanding. For dessert we split the baklava sampler plate. Don't skip dessert. We ate too much but enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Greensboro foodies, do not sleep on this place! I'll be back soon. read more

I was literally trying to figure out how this was homemade as I was eating it because it was just incredibly bouncy and airy. But a close second is their falafel and their baklava! I actually spent a good portion of my childhood in Turkey. What I remember the most is THE FOOD. So when I first tried ZeeYum I was hooked. It may just be THE MOST authentic and nostalgic Turkish Food I've had since leaving Turkey over 30 years ago. The Adana Kabab Platter is Chef's Kiss. Soooo incredibly delicious. They had the Adana as a wrap for a special one time...which comes with handmade pita type bread and a few simple and flavorful toppings and I swear it took me all the way back to Ankara. ZeeYum also has beef borek which trust me...is hard to find in the States. I've tried probably 50+ Turkish restaurants around the US over the years and not one has had beef borek. I was told beef borek is not native to Turkey and that they "Americanized" the borek adjacent to the AFB. Its typically made with feta. So I was sooo happy to finally discover a place that actually had beef borek. And boooy did it take me back. The baklava. The Turkish coffee. The ambiance all add to the experience. His father will bring your meal and his mother will be making your Turkish coffee for dessert. There is a lot of heart in this restaurant and making your meal, and it shows.
