Our first visit! The food was delicious! The chicken was very tender and flavorful. Service was friendly. There was a refrigerated counter with lots of delicious looking desserts but we didn't try any because we were full. We will save room to try something next time! There was plenty of seating and no wait which was nice. We will definitely be back!

I don't practice Santorini... I ain't got no crystal ball. If I had a million dollars well I'd... spend a little bit of it here. UPDATE: I am keeping this as a five-star rating with the caveat, that lunch is the best time to come, as they switch to waiter service in the evenings. I wish it would just stay casual counter service at all times and save me a tip. I would also say that we tried the Greek-Italian fare on our dinner visit, and in both the cases of Baked Spaghetti and Pastisio (normally a favorite of mine) we did not enjoy them nearly as much as our Greek dishes on other visits. The baked spaghetti was really just normal spaghetti and meatsauce with cheese, no addition of onions and peppers, or like a thick baked flavor. The pastisio was a very small portion I felt, did not have much in the way of a bechamel creme on top, and was way to heavy in nutmeg, and possibly clove. Message received. Lunch and Greek! Back to the original review: Greek food! Honestly, not always the thing that thrills me the most, but a great option for when I want to eat something a little more fresh and healthy than the foods that do thrill me. This new spot Santorini, has taken over the spot vacated by High Point Korean BBQ, in the small shopping center next to The Biscuit Factory. Honestly, a regular restaurant row in the making right there on Kirkwood street in High Point. You all know I love BFAC, and California Burritos is a good fast casual joint too! Anyway, back to our place at hand. The renovations inside make this place hardly recognizable as a former Korean restaurant. They have leaned into the Greek theme and colors, lots of bright white and blue. Pictures evoking the Mediterranean all over the walls, and a GIANT special combos menu behind the counter. There is clear inspiration from Mythos/Mykonos/Other area Greek restaurants happening here, but it is not a direct offshoot. My wife and I have actually visited twice. What brought us back both times is the exceptionally well cooked chicken. Whether you want that as souvlaki, or as a marinated grilled breast, it has been juicy and flavorful each time. I have ordered the dried cranberry almond greek chicken salad both times. This comes in one of the tastiest wonton-style tortilla bowls I've had of late. I love breaking off pieces to add crunch to my salad. The standard "pink" Greek dressing here is as good as any other place in town. But what sets this salad apart is value, quality of the grilled chicken cutlet, and the inclusion of the dried cranberries and wonton shell... bringing a wonderful balance to what would otherwise be a simple greek salad. The reviews so far are great and I will add to them. In an area spoiled by excellent Mediterranean style places, if you want to err more on the Greek side of things... Santorini is a wonderful choice!

High Point now has a new Greek restaurant that looks and tastes very similar to Mythos in Greensboro, however, I think this place is a step above. It's beautifully decorated, great space, great for groups or singles. My go-to is usually the chicken souvlaki pita so I had to try it, along with their fries. The chicken is cooked to absolute perfection. Great seasoning, juicy, pulls apart yet has that nice crisp exterior from the grill. Their cucumber/tzatziki sauce has a robust garlic flavor, and isn't too watered down with cucumbers. Their house dressing (the pink stuff) also tastes amazing and I enjoy dipping my fries in it or pouring it over my pita before I take a huge bite. Speaking of the fries, my only negative was that they had clearly used the same oil for the fries as they did for the calamari, which left a very fishy taste on the fries. It might not bother most, but I don't eat fish so the taste was very strong to me. We did let them know that and perhaps on the next visit, I'll try to the fries to see if they didn't use the same oil. The service was great! Even at lunch (which is counter service only) they still checked on us and refilled our drinks. Very nice people and I look forward to eating there again very soon!

You walk in the door and you are warmly welcomed. They have table service and carry out. The dishes are authentic, I spent a year in Greece and Love the cuisine. No matter your choices, the fresh baklava is a must. Bonus: 3% cash discount if you desire. No pressure. Welcome to Santorini, without the steps to the too! Efhiristo polee (my greek spelling stinks).

I was not pleased to see High Point Korean BBQ close its doors, and a Greek restaurant stepping into the space didn't inspire much enthusiasm. But as the signage and menu for Santorini came together, that changed. Mythos Grill was my favorite Greek restaurant when I lived in Greensboro, and Santorini is, for all intents and purposes, Mythos of High Point (they aren't affiliated, but Santorini's owner was involved with Mythos at one point). The menu here offers everything you'd expect: gyros, souvlaki, spanakopita, dolmades, moussaka, and more. You can go light with an app, sandwich, or salad, or you can pile on the carbs with a pasta dish. Vegetarians and meat-eaters alike will find plenty here. My wife swears by Mythos's avgolemono (lemon chicken soup), and so that was a no-brainer. I added a combination platter (gyro/chicken souvlaki/spanakopita) and fried zucchini to round out the take-out order. It was ready in under fifteen minutes, and the price was fairly reasonable. The food was good across the board though it leaned more toward "reliably comforting" than outstanding. The soup was on-par with Mythos's version, the zucchini was fresh and generously portioned, and everything in the combination platter was nicely seasoned. That said, the gyro came in a slab that some might find off-putting, and the spanakopita could have been flakier. There are plenty of places in High Point where you can get a decent-or-better gyro, falafel, or pita wrap, but if a Greek-specific craving hits, keep Santorini in mind.

Cheeseburger pita- I know it looks messy but it was awesome!

This new place is awesome! I loved the food! Very clean atmosphere and attentive staff. We will definitely be back! Also want to note- flat entrance and close parking spaces for handicapped patrons!

Very hard to find a spot that cooks the gyro lamb in this authentic style. The lamb gyro was unbelievably flavorful. Meat fresh and tender, complex spices, homemade tzatziki, and a fresh pita to wrap up all that flavor. Also had a Meze sampler with dolmas, hummus, spanakopita, falafel and a side salad. Flavor bombs! My wife said the falafel was one of the best she's ever had. Fresh and crispy on the outside, with a soft and well spiced inside. And the dolmas...you know when you have one that has hard rice inside that is dry and bland? Well this is the exact opposite. Soft and tender rice, juicy and tasty. Last but not least, the owners went above and beyond while we were in there. She was tending to us and making sure everything was to our satisfaction. He was in the kitchen but checked on us, and made sure to acknowledge us on the way out. Pure love pours into their food, and spills over to the customers. Don't miss this one. It's worth it.

They have a good variety of options on the menu, and a nice beer menu. I got the Paella, which was good, but not the best I've had. Prices were a bit high compared to the portions which was a bit disappointing. I finished my meal all in one sitting, but do wish I had ordered something else. If/when i go back, I won't be ordering the paella. Good visit, but certainly caters to an older crown. I think a lot of what you pay for here is the name and reputation. Worth checking out.

It took over 20 minutes. Once we entered, we were greeted with "We're Closing soon. " it was 2:30. I explained about the parking hassle. She responded by huffing "I know." We got the gyro platter. Serving was pretty generous. With the gyro meat came 1/2 a boiled potato, plain. Rice (mushy) and green beans with tomatoes which was okay but possibly overcooked. The broccoli and Tzatziki were good. Our server counted out the register nearby while we ate. I asked about dessert, since we had already decided not to return. She said "I already rang you out." Dessert was hot and custard like. It was the best part. So the pricing wasn't terrible, the food was okay, and the service was questionable. Just a couple of months ago I was sitting in a gorgeous hotel in Athens for $80 a night eating a huge Greek hamburger and staring at the Acropolis out of my balcony window. As the clock struck midnight at New Year's Eve, I had the added Joy of watching fireworks soar over this iconic ancient site. What a memory! So, it seemed only fitting when Andy suggested Acropolis that we meet there for lunch. I literally had not been in that restaurant for a decade or two. As a matter of fact, when I first moved to Greensboro, I think it was the only Greek restaurant in the area. I remember in my early years at The Community Theatre of Greensboro meeting many a client at the Acropolis downtown for lunch. Although I rarely dined there for dinner, I was a big fan of their moussaka, Greek salad and some other Greek dishes. Although this place never blew me away, I always enjoyed the meal and I remember the owner. She was a pleasant woman, always happy to see me and very welcoming and proud of her restaurant. I have a feeling she no longer is around but she made a lasting impression on me. So, I returned to Acropolis a few days ago. Absolutely nothing has changed LOL. The décor looks exactly the same, the menu looks the same and the atmosphere is the same. That's not a bad thing, just an observation. I ordered a diet Coke to start, and although I like unlimited servings from the fountain, I was okay with Acropolis giving me a nice big bottle for myself. It got me through the meal! Their menu is inviting and reasonably priced. They have specials everyday and I was excited to have the Greek chicken. Unfortunately, when I ordered it they told me it was gone. I ordered the chicken souvlaki platter and it was very tasty. Instead of the rice I asked for a double serving of vegetables which they accommodated. The green beans were quite good We arrived at 1:00 p.m. and the restaurant closes for lunch at 2:00. Unfortunately, the place was not very crowded and so at 2:00 p.m. we were the only ones sitting in the restaurant. I felt the pressure for us to leave which I did not appreciate. They kept clearing our plates and at 2:05 they turned off some of the lights. I understand they wanted to go home but I don't think you should be rushing patrons out of your restaurant 5 minutes after the closing time if they are still in the middle of their meal or conversation. Just saying! Feeling like they wanted us to leave, we headed out. I have mixed feelings about the rating for this restaurant. On the one hand, I felt I was pushed out of the door after 2:00 p.m. I would have liked to have seen unlimited fountain drinks and I was turned off by Greek chicken being offered as a special of the day but being told they don't have any more. On the other hand, kudos to any restaurant that can sustain itself for decades and decades like Acropolis has. Now they are across the street from the baseball stadium. I also was shocked but pleasantly surprised that there was free parking on the street right down the block from the restaurant. In honor of longevity and being the first Greek restaurant to be brave enough to open in downtown Greensboro, I'm going to give them some kudos but would advise them in the future to give people a chance to enjoy their lunch or tell them when they walk in at 1:00 p.m. that they have 1 hour to eat and then they need to get out! LOL I would have to say that I do prefer places like Odeh's, Nazareth Bread and Mythos, but if you are downtown and want to experience a nice sit-down experience of a Greek meal from a restaurant that has stood the test of time, I would head to the Acropolis! It didn't compare to my sitting in my hotel room in Athens, staring at the real Acropolis on New Year's Eve, but I had an enjoyable lunch and very enjoyable company!
