First time at Aladdin's but definitely won't be my last. I'm rarely in this area but would make a special effort to stop again. They have dine in service as well as to go. I opted for to go and the food held up well to my 15 minute drive home. The falafel was hot and fresh and I got the chicken and steak over rice. I could have used a little more sauce but it was very flavorful and seasoned well. The protein was thinly sliced and it was a large portion. I ate some for dinner and lunch the next day and still had some left over. The environment is very calm and casual and would be great for a working lunch or lunch with friends. I was kind of down in the dumps, so I was so happy when Sally invited me for dinner on Sunday. We both like Middle Eastern food and so we decided to try a new restaurant... Aladdin's Shawarma! How can you resist a restaurant with a name like that? LOL Aladdin's is conveniently located on West Market Street. Easy to find and easy to park. When we walked in, I felt like I was in another country, and I mean that in a good way. There were many families from foreign countries speaking different languages. In that the restaurant is halal, there were many Muslim families there as well. Always a good sign when ethnicities are eating at local restaurants of their own cuisine. The place was pretty full. I ordered the Arabian salad and added chicken and Sally ordered a mixed grill plate. Her plate was expensive but plentiful. Mine was expensive for what I got and quite small. I was disappointed, although it was tasty. I could tell Sally felt bad for me that my portion was so small since she shared some of her dinner with me! I am still struggling with how expensive everything has gotten in restaurants, and so I tried to take it all with a grain of salt when I am comparing a price with the portion, but in this case it was hard for me to justify over $15 for a small salad with one small skewer of chicken. So as far as atmosphere, location, taste of the food and service, it was all excellent. I just could not help but wonder if they could have given me more food for what I paid. It made me feel like I might have been better off eating at home or going somewhere else for a better value. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, or I need to accept that everything is much more expensive and portions are getting smaller. In either case, if you are looking for authentic Middle Eastern food in an authentic Middle Eastern atmosphere, Aladdin's Shawarma deserves a visit. I was heading to another spot that happened to be closed so my friend suggested we try Aladdin's. I'm so glad she did. The food reminded me of my trips to Istanbul. The food was delicious and authentic. It was not Americanized Mediterranean. The spices were Smokey and unique. I had the chicken shawarma with fries and the cucumber sauce. Best I've had since Turkey. We also split the appetizer platter and I thought the falafel was outstanding and worth a standing ovation. The texture was moist and flavorful. This place looks enchanting from outside. The sign is very welcoming as well. Walked in to a clean and welcoming place. The music was going and I almost wanted to dance while I waited. We were seated and immediately asked for drinks. So many to choose from, I went with a fountain drink. First time trying shawarma and I loved it!!! I got the chicken rice bowl while my kids got the XL shawarma with fries and dips. I also got 3 dips as appetizers. There was one I can't think of the name, it was kinda bland for my taste. The spicy one was great on the chicken but not so much on the pita bread. The hummus was my favorite of course!!! The restrooms were only one person restrooms so this could use an update, but I really liked the air fresheners in there lol. I know, weird! Honestly thought the person before me had drenched themselves in perfume and it smelled Devine. I loved it so much I took a picture of it. I went to Aladdin's today to try the viral chicken shawarma wrap. I had no idea what restaurants serve this in Greensboro until I saw a video on tick tock doing a food review on Aladdin's. On Sundays they open at 12 noon. So I did a little shopping and came on over for lunch. When I pulled into the parking lot it seemed kind of full which is to be expected when a tick tock went viral just yesterday, I think. The restaurant itself seemed clean. There was plenty of space to sit down and eat. There were booths and tables with chairs. The girls at the service counter were exceptionally kind. There was a little bit of a wait on the food but not too bad. I ordered ahead of time and they told me about 20ish minutes and I got mine in 25 minutes. I was a little disappointed because they didn't have the chicken ready so I didn't want to wait an extra 45 minutes. So I just went ahead and ordered the beef shawarma wrap and I ordered creamy cucumber salad. Honestly, it tasted pretty good but it wasn't anything to write home to Mama about. Was it worth the $12 just for the wrap? I personally don't think so. It's not bad at all. Would I get it again, probably. But I also want to try other places that may make this so I have something to compare it to. If you're craving a chicken shawarma because you've been seeing people eat it all over social media........ Go ahead and go on over to Aladdin's to at least give it a try yourself. Went here for lunch during a training. I've seen it many times but never took a chance to stop in. So glad we did! The service was a bit slow but the food was fresh and amazing. My friend got the sampler and I got the chicken shawarma entree. The only down side was that the cheese on the sampler was CRAZY SALTY!!! We tried mixing it with other things to hide the salt but it didn't help. There were leftovers, as usual, and I'm excited to eat the rest! Aladdin's was more than happy to take our large order for 35 folks with same day service! The gal who answered the phone was extremely patient and answered all of my questions! Such a lovely spot! The inside is decorated well and has plenty of seating if you want to eat in, however plenty of folks were grabbing their orders to go. The service was just fine, you can grab drinks on your own too once you have your cup for faster refills as well. The restaurant is clean and sleek, well-lit by both natural and artificial light, and maximizes their seating space. I was quite comfortable at my own booth by the window. I ordered a rice bowl with the mixed shawarma, which included a beverage at lunch, much appreciated. I also always have to try the falafel at any new restaurant of this type that I visit, so I got an order of those, to which 6 were included. We'll start there, the falafel, were perfect! Crispy on the outside, but moist and flavorful inside. Dipped in the tahini, I could not have been happier, and this boded well for the rest of my meal. I could see myself coming back in the future for a veg meal featuring the falafel on its own. My mixed shawarma bowl the came out in a nice wide bowl. The entire top was covered in protein, each bite full a mix of chicken a beef. Of the two proteins, I preferred the beef, it was hearty, spicy, and had an abundance of grilled flavor. The chicken was interesting, it too was nicely spiced and grilled, though it APPEARED to be dry. In reality biting into it, it did not taste dry, it was almost like somewhere between roasted chicken and like a chicken jerky. Still, I enjoyed it, I was just kind of perplexed by it. This is our second time.. friendly and warm service from the second you walk in the door. We started with a cup of the Arabic coffee.. freshly roasted and brewed generously thick. Our service team is humble and takes pride in what is being served. It's nice to have water served in real glasses.. and serving some of the dishes on an embossed cutting board is cute. The food is fresh, clean and straightforward. We haven't been able to finish our meals in both instances, but look forward to having the leftovers! The falafel is top notch.. just the right amount of spices and super crisp outside. The qalyat lahma was very tender and warmed us up. When I visited, there was only one of the customer sitting in a booth . I asked if I could sample the baba ganoush because that's really what I came for. I have been trying to find a spot that has babaganoush like Jack's Corner did. I miss that place soooo much! Anywho, now, I ask to sample babaganoush before I purchase because everyone makes it differently--some chunky, some puréed, some unseasoned and bland. I've tasted it all. This particular babaganoush, I didn't really care for it. It was way too chunky and had a weird flavor. I was greatful that I was able to try a sample before spending almost $10 on something that I would not have eaten. Not my cup of tea, but go in and try it for yourself. This place is awesome! I was in the Greensboro area hoping to get some authentic Mediterranean food. I am so happy that I looked up Aladdin's Shawarna. The flavors are the star here. Kudos to all of the chefs here because the food was absolutely delicious. You can taste the cardamom in the rice, the chicken and beef were tender and the portions are enough to last for multiple meals. I ordered the chicken over rice. Love trying new Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food this time I got to check out Aladdin's Shawarma which is a new spot here in Greensboro! Love the way they made the restaurant look and how they brought out the food on wooden boards with their restaurant name laser engraved into the board. Me and my friend wanted to try a couple different things since it was our first time, the waiter recommended we try the fried cheese appetizer he did warn us that the cheese itself was very salty but it's supposed to compliment with the pita and salad. The cheese was pretty salty for sure but it did taste good with everything together. My friend got their chicken shawarma and I got their falafel sandwich. Shummus is a favorite of ours, and this was flavorful, tender, and crunchy in all the right places. We added some shatta, as the hummus felt a little lacking in spice, but it was still excellent. My breakfast platter was a joy. I have missed having ful since relocating here and was overjoyed to find it on the menu. It was perfectly creamy and earthy.
