Been to this place a few times and had a pretty decent experience. This was years ago but I remember when they used to have singers come out and do little performance once a week and my friends would invite me out to watch their friends perform. I remember the vibes were pretty welcoming. I have gone once since then but during the day and the vibes were pretty chill and low-key but nothing too crazy. Just a typical experience but also a really good college outing memory. The matcha I had from there wasn't particularly my favorite but they used to keep their espresso machine up at night during the performance, I'm not completely sure if I remember correctly if they sold liquor or alcohol but the drink that I did have from there the first time I went was pretty good. The ambiance is pretty normal for greensboro, I feel like almost every establishment you walk in, there will be cracked floors but I just remember the staff was pretty awesome and as far as pastries, they had a pretty good variety and gluten free options and other food sensitivity options. I believe a few years ago, I recall an episode of "Catfish" where Nev and Max also visited this place so that was pretty interesting to experience that but honestly a pretty decent place. read more

I don't really drink coffee too often but I really loved this coffee shop! It definitely has some character and seems like a cozy place to come and grab a quick drink. Really liked the aesthetic and all of the art pieces hung up. All of the drinks are named after famous celebrities. I recently stopped by Common Grounds for the first time. This location is super cute and eclectic. It seemed to offer a good amount of seating for a coffee shop. They had a lot of options on the menu as well and it was fun that a lot of their specialty drinks were named after celebrities. I ended up getting the Marlin Brando which was a latte with Carmel and white chocolate. So on the list of coffee places to try in Greensboro this is definitely a spot to try. It is such a cute spot. As we pulled up I told my husband I had to take a picture as I loved the outside of the shop they had a small outside seating area. Once inside it's a quirky shop with a bunch of different art work, definitely a vibe. Their menu was named after a bunch of actors while they also had regular coffee. I ordered the Marlon Brando it was super delicious my husband had an iced americano as he likes his coffee black. We had an appointment in 30 minutes and just sat in the cafe and enjoyed our drinks and the vibe. They offer free wifi. The guy behind the counter was super friendly. Stopped here before taking my hubs out for a birthday pedi and we got the Leonardo DiCaprio and Fuel lattes. Omgoodness. So good. We were both pleasantly surprised by how much we liked our drinks. For my first official visit to Common Grounds, I give a thumbs up! This specific location was adorable! The barista was so kind and courteous. She helped me to narrow down my decision and enhance my order by making personal recommendations! I ended up adding coconut flavoring to my iced Matcha Latte and it was amazingly refreshing. I also had to try a blueberry lemon loaf cake (not pictured)...it was delicious and devoured quickly! This is the perfect quaint coffee shop vibe with a vintage feel. Went there for a cup of coffee at 9:14pm on Saturday, stood at the counter for at least a minute no one acknowledged us. We had to ask a customer was there someone working and they said that employee is outside smoking a cigarette. Mind you there was a whole crowd of people socializing outside some smoking, but not one person acknowledge us or said that they would be right with us when we walked in the door. Such a neat little coffee shop located right beside Retos Kitchen and across the street from sticks and stones. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and they were BUSY. There was also a DJ setting up to play some music. I ordered the Robert Downey Jr and it was GREAT. I love that each drink is named for a different celebrity. They also had Camino bakery treats for sale. It looks like this spot is used a lot for meeting of large groups. Especially college kids doing group projects. We didn't have a place to sit while waiting for our coffee but no biggie. It just made sense that they opened a second common grounds location for how busy they seem to stay. After attending yoga class across the street, I was happy to look across the way and see this new coffee shop! This is the second location for this business. I visited on the third day of business, and you could definitely not tell this was a new location! It was running like a well oiled machine. I will have to say that this is the best oatmeal chai latte I have had in the Triad so far! This location is open late, which is great, because many coffee shops are not. They had a stage area in the front, so I am looking forward to seeing what will be offered in that space. They also serve beer so it's a great spot for a late night evening as well. A movie buff's coffee dream! Common Grounds is a creative, eclectic coffee shop that was abuzz this Sunday afternoon. The decor is moody and funky, with a giant Leonardo DiCaprio mural. You'll find a drink named after him as well! Their signature latte flavor combinations are named after some of cinema's most notable actors like Marlon Brando, Charlie Chaplin, and Robin Williams! I really love when places have a distinct theme. It just makes it fun! There were a ton of people sitting around working, and this definitely seems like a place where you could get your creative juices flowing (as suggested by the graffiti message on the wall: "creativity is contagious, pass it on." I ordered the Marlon Brando which was a latte with white chocolate and caramel. My friend got the Robert Downey Jr. which was dark chocolate, caramel and salt and we both enjoyed! They also have delicious baked goods from Black Magnolia bakery! My only complaint is there's not a lot of space to wait for your drink if they're busy. We were kind of standing by the door constantly having to move out of the way since it was a bit cramped but that's not really to the fault of the establishment. The menu was usual coffee shop fare plus a really neat named after movie stars latte menu. Nice little wine and beer menu as well. Great seating spread out a d outdoor seating. Mostly seemed like a college study lounge! Loved the outdoor seating. Except for the smoke coming over from the table behind us, but we are outdoors ! Definitely one of the most perfect cappuccinos I've ever had. Made just like how I asked, half liquid half foam. Nice frothy milk, and their cinnamon is really nice and strong. This is probably my favorite coffee shop in Greensboro. The selection is great, the space is really cool, and the staff is always super friendly and accommodating. I went here recently when the season changed for some fall flavors. I like a Pumpkin Spice Latte as well as the next gal, but Starbucks makes their's waaay too sweet for me. At Common Grounds I ordered their equivalent, which was way more palatable and cheaper. They have a great local vibe and everything I've ever gotten here has been great. I've been in the area on multiple occasions but it was the first time I see common grounds. It seems to be a cool spot to chill w friends. We enjoyed live music and had smoothies w some cookies. Eli Lev's performance was beyond my expectations, he's very talented and full of life. The crowd was small but his music/voice was infectious and spectacular. He played the guitar, flute and harmonica. I think there's room for improvement for common grounds to make it more inviting place and to offer more snacks. I would consider coming back. read more

The place is nice. Great location and cool atmosphere. They even have a stage! Unfortunately my experience wasn't so great. The barista was pretty cold and she had her sweaty armpit hair flowing in the wind from underneath her tank top (I was afraid some would get into my coffee). We said thank you and didn't get a "you're welcome" or a "thanks for your business". The barista really didn't seem like she wanted to be there or have anything to do with us. Plus they were out of matcha and the latte; although delicious, was undersized for a "large". I ordered a chai latte with soy milk (they only have vanilla soy milk). Pretty average chai. There is also kava and smoothies served here. Things have changed. The coffee is still good quality but Common Grounds has lost some of their quality staff. Inexperience has come into play and it's now hit and miss. I'm confident they'll pick up again and it's still a great place to hangout. They just need more time to get back to where they were. Help them out guys.
