Unfortunately, I didn't have the best experience customer service wise, and I think it might be a demographic issue. I noticed a different level of treatment for different people that came in, even though there were others that it was their first time there just like me. Expressing I've never been there before and asking about the menu and getting the cold shoulder, ordering a falafel sandwich and sitting down to wait, and wait. An older couple came in expressed the same thing about being New. There never been there asking about the menu and they sit down for their food, or prompt brought out a big old sample platter of all their different items to try , and then our orders were delivered at roughly the same time. My falafel also wasn't freshly cooked, it was cold and honestly wasn't super impressive. Lacking in any sauce, there was some, but it was all on the surface, underneath it was cold and dry. Typically, I give a place two or three chances before I leave anything that might be taken as negative, but I don't plan to go back here. I would've ordered some more stuff too. Had they been a little nicer or at least a little more customer service orientated, I would've ordered some stuff to take for others and order some desserts but no.

Stopped for a quick lunch as my family was traveling through the area. The food was so fresh! I had the falafel pita combo with fries. Everything was hot and fresh. The portion size was plentiful. The ambiance was traditional with a Mediterranean vibe. We waited for our food a little longer than a fast food place, but shorter than a sit down dinner. The fresh food was definitely worth the wait. We finished our meal with a piece of the lemon coconut cake and baklava. They were absolutely delish!

I was on my way home, passing through the area, and had bookmarked this spot a while back. It was dinner time, and since Mediterranean food is always a winner in my book, I decided to give it a try. It was a Sunday evening, and when I called to place my order, the line was busy. It took me two or three tries to get through, but when I did, the gentleman who answered was super friendly and helpful. I went with the traditional lamb gyro combo, paired with a side of grape leaves. I think I might've gone against the local trend because when I arrived to pick up my order, they had accidentally packed it with French fries instead of grape leaves. No big deal, though--after a quick reboxing, they had me out the door and on my way. The gyro itself was fantastic. They do their own blend of lamb, beef, herbs, and spices, which I really appreciate--it adds a layer of authenticity and flavor that you don't always find. The meat was generously portioned with nice thick cuts, and the tzatziki was spot-on: creamy, tangy, and fresh. The sandwich was well-constructed and held together nicely without falling apart mid-bite (always a plus!). The grape leaves were fresh and flavorful, with just the right balance of seasoning. The dining room caught my eye when I went in--it was very clean and surprisingly spacious. Whether you're dining solo or bringing the family along, it's the kind of place where you'd feel comfortable sitting down for a casual meal or grabbing a quick bite. The relaxed, no-frills vibe really works here. Price-wise, the food was well-priced and offered great value for what you get. Generous portions, quality ingredients, and flavors that hit the mark without breaking the bank. When I arrived, the sun had just set, and this place is definitely one of those blink-and-you'll-miss-it spots. The building blends in a bit with the surrounding businesses, and the parking lot is a little quirky--the spaces felt a bit tight, so if you're driving anything larger than a sedan, just be prepared to maneuver carefully. All in all, this is the kind of hidden gem you're glad you stumbled upon. If you're passing through, have business in the area, or are lucky enough to live nearby, it's definitely a spot worth frequenting. I'll absolutely be back to explore more of the menu next time I'm in town!

What a wonderful casual restaurant! Delicious, & great value. I got the Kofta Sandwich platter and upgraded my side to the stuffed grape leaves! It took about 15 minutes for my food to be ready- hot & fresh. They made it just the way asked, didn't skimp on ingredients, & I really enjoyed my Dr. pepper with it and they gave me a free refill to go as well! There is an abundance of indoor seating as well.

After hitting the outlets to purchase fall fashions that I'm sure my toddler will grow out of in the next 5 minutes, I decided to try something good. Since we lost Mooney's in Winston-Salem, I've wanted some really good Mediterranean. The restaurant was in a small strip mall just one exit from the outlets. There are several small straps on that road, but it's the one across from the State Employee's Credit Union. Although the strip mall was sort of tucked away, the restaurant has a nice large sign in front of it. I called in my order and spoke to a nice lady who was very patient and answered my questions. I ultimately ordered the Kafta over rice with cauliflower and falafel as my sides, an order of lentil soup and a side of hummus. The Kafta Kabob was a little dry and tough, but it was seasoned well. The rice was not seasoned at all. The dish was described as being served with a garlic sauce, but it didn't taste very garlic forward to me. The falafel was bursting with flavor and perfectly crispy on the outside. I dipped it in the tasty tzatziki sauce, and it took it over the top!! The cauliflower was referred to as roasted cauliflower and/or cauliflower salad. It was served cold and it was very garlicky, and herbaceous, but the lemon just over powdered the flavor. The lentil soup was unlike anything I've ever had. The lentils were ground and served in a spicy vegetable broth. It is a vegan option. It was delicious, but the texture was very different. Finally, the hummus. They have a couple of options. The regular/general flavor and a flavored option. I ignored the name of it when she mentioned cilantro. I'm one of those, "it tastes like soap" people. The hummus was creamy, seasoned, and served with warm pita. They also top your individual serving with extra olive oil and seasonings. Overall, it was a good experience. Although I ordered to go, they have tables and booths inside for you to dine in with them.

Chicken kabob Chicken Kabab Platter Baba Ghanouj with Pita and jalapeño cilantro hummus. Delicious!

Our food took forever to get ready, so I was going to subtract some stars from this review BUT the food was so good that the wait was more than worth it! We ordered a chicken kabab platter and a kofta sandwich. The chicken on the kabab was tender, the rice was aromatic, well seasoned and delicious. Baba Ghanouj and the jalapeño hummus tasted fresh, again very flavorful with a crispy pita on the side. The kofta sandwich was big enough to be enjoyed for me and my husband. Delicious combination of beef and lamb with a warm pita lettuce and tomatoes. They also had fountain drinks what it was a plus for us. Staff was very nice. Everything cooked to order, fresh and clean. Delicious! I highly recommend this place!! I already want to come back for more!

    Chicken Shawarma Pita Sandwich

We stopped in for dinner on a drive down I-40 on a whim- and now can't believe how far it is from home. We will find excuses to go here. We got the chicken shawarma and falafel pita sandwiches. As Mediterranean lovers, my partner and I seek out great gyro, shawarma, and falafel all around the east coast. As much as it pains us to admit, Castle beats out our previous favorite. The falafel is hands down the best I've had. Fresh parsley takes it over the edge, and the texture is perfect. The sauces and quality of pita are also super, and we have high standards. Seriously, this dinner made our night after an exhausting move. Please stop here- and please let the owners know how much you love the food. Next time we'll eat in so that we can.

Service is very friendly, and as quick as possible, considering that stuff seems to be made to order. I ordered a chicken kebab platter which comes over a bed of basmati rice, possibly with saffron. Whatever the rice tasted great and it wasn't dry like at a lot of places. The chicken was marinated in a tangy yogurt-spice mix, grilled and topped with a tahini sauce. Delicious! As sides I got mujadara and roasted vegetables which were also tasty. I'll be back for takeout for sure in the future.

"Bodega-like Mediterranean Grill & Grocery in Parkwood area of Durham"…read more This place is WAY off the beaten path for most, but I'm so happy to have gotten to try it out. Nestled in a little strip between a Muslim school and a mosque is this grill and grocery. We came on a Wednesday evening, and almost every table was already taken by diners. You order your food at a counter, and it has the Middle Eastern foods you'd expect-- kofta, shawarma, gyros, falafel, baba ghanouj, hummus, baklava, etc. I opted for the lamb gyro sandwich with a side of baba ghanouj, and my dining partner had the falafel sandwich. They call your number when it's ready. Food took maybe 10 minutes to receive, so we browsed the market area. It's not a huge selection, but very traditional-- nice seeing so many labels in Arabic, and along with standards (e.g., canned fava beans for Ful Medames), they also had things like frozen chopped mulukhiyah leaves-- that's definitely a rarer sight. Lots of good spices too. The food was EXCELLENT. The lamb was juicy and perfect (unlike what another Yelp review said), the tzatziki sauce was delicious, and the baba ghanouj was perfectly cooked and textured. I had a small bite of the falafel, and it was indeed one of the best I've had in the US. Price was fair, too-- the sandwiches are all under $10 before tax and tip, and making it a combo with side and drink cost just something like $2.50. And service was friendly-- although they called out numbers, they did walk out with the food to try to find and bring you your dishes. And while it was an older space, it was overall still generally clean. Overall, I'd VERY happily come back.

Inside, it was relatively austere, but the seats were very comfy! You order and pay at the counter and then they deliver your food to your table - I'm a fan of this setup because I can leave quickly and not have to wait for the server to give me the check :) It took maybe ~15 minutes to get our food, but it was piping hot and fresh when it arrived. It was so tasty! My wife and I split the Goat Karahi, which came with "two naan bread" (those naan must be huge, because it seemed more like five naan bread to us!) in a separate basket. The goat was flavorful and the sauce was delicious. The naan were fluffy and tasted really good too. The staff were nice and helpful throughout the meal. This will definitely be one of our new lunch spots, and I'm excited to come back!

Let's just say it was a good surprise :-) Location is tucked away in a shopping center In a corner store front ... so if you dont look for it... you'll miss it .. So went inside and was greeted my a nice smiling gentleman behind the counter and place is very clean and simple. The gentleman behind the counter was very accommodating and helped with explaining the menu which is a small no frills menu which is a good thing .. Orders the mixed platter with an order of Naan.. Was told to have a seat and he would bring it out and to enjoy a complimentary cup of tea (green tea) ... i was disappointed it wasn't the traditional Rose tea that I am used to at other Afghani Kebob joints but it was ok ... The food came out pretty quick and looked simple and delicious.. The chicken was flavorful and moist .. just needed a lil bit more sumac and a pinch of salt .. The Naan is your basic Naan so nothing to share there.. Overall a good experience with no frills and thrills kebobs... Definitely will come back and try another dish ... Time to now find a place that serves beef Paya. Like I was used to from Kabob Palace back in Arlington VA :-)

The quality and portions are excellent--no skimpy skewers, no mystery meat. It genuinely reminds me of the Persian and Afghani kebab shops in Northern Virginia that know their way around a charcoal grill. Everything tastes clean, well-seasoned, and cooked with intention. A couple of small suggestions (because nothing is perfect): I'd love to see a wider variety of sauces for the kebabs, and personally, I'd prefer a larger piece of taftoon bread instead of the pita slices. That said--credit where it's due--the pita tastes fresh and not like it was pulled straight from a plastic bag, which already puts them ahead of most places. Bottom line: this is the best kebab spot I've found in the area, hands down. Highly recommend--and yes, I'll absolutely be back.

After enjoying Baba Ghannouj Mediterranean Bistro in Cary last week, my girl & I decided to explore…read moreanother kebab/gyro restaurant in Cary, so we went to Kebab Skewer & dined in on a Saturday night. This is located close to Milklab, which I also reviewed here on Yelp. My girl ordered a gyro wrap, then the young adult cashier asked if we wanted to add fries & drink for additional $3+. She asked if she can swap the fries for another side: baba ghannouj, our favorite Mediterranean side dish, and the cashier said she can. The menu overhead is clear, so we didn't have trouble deciding what to order. I ordered the Kebab Platter - Double Skewer that comes with salad, rice, a tiny cup of tzatziki, a tiny cup of salad dressing, and pita bread. Platter costs $15.99 + additional $1.99 because I chose lamb kebab. We also ordered the 4-piece falafel & a lamb kofta skewer. Total cost was about $50+. As always, we tried each other's foods, split the falafel & lamb kofta. The lamb gyro wrap was delicious with fresh meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce. The few bites I had of the gyro were pure bliss; part of me wish I ordered a gyro wrap too, but I wanted us to have different orders. The baba ghannouj that came with her gyro was excellent unlike what we tried from Baba Ghannouj Mediterranean Bistro (BGM Bistro). The texture of the mashed eggplant and mix of spices were perfect, and the amount was good enough for the 2 of us to share. I also enjoyed my double skewer lamb kebab platter. The salad was fresh, the basmati rice wasn't as sopisticated as other spiced varieties but it went well with the lamb kebab, fresh from the grill. However, for an $18+ meal, wish it included another small side like baba ghannouj. BGM Bistro's platters let you choose 2 sides along with the rice and salad for about the same price, so you get more value there but the baba ghannouj tastes better here. Falafel is a good-tasting side, about the same quality as BGM Bistro's. It comes with tahini sauce. The lamb kofta skewer, which looks like a sausage, was well-spiced and went well with tzatziki. Our orders were served in less than 12 min, and we had to pick up our trays at the front when they were ready instead of bringing to our table. It looks like this is the kind of place that's better for take out than dine in as the ambiance isn't inviting. There was one area where the floor was left uncleaned and the dull illumination of the fluorescent lights inside doesn't make this restaurant ideal for a romantic date. We were somewhat satisfied with our dinner with the gyro and baba ghannouj being the highlights. Lamb kebab & lamb kofta tasted good but I don't think the whole platter is worth $18+. We might alternate BGM Bistro & this as each has their own pros & cons. Or we might explore another we haven't tried before.

"Delicious Persian food in North Durham"…read more Came here on a Friday at 5:45pm-- note they close at 6:30pm, so come early! It's a bit "off the beaten path", so be sure to use navigation to get there. The space inside had maybe 7 tables and was brightly lit with soft Persian music playing. You can order takeout at the counter or be seated to dine in. My partner and I dined in. We ordered the borani (eggplant/ yogurt/ garlic) appetizer. I got the vaziri combo, which came with koobideh (beef + lamb) and joojeh (chicken on a skewer) and tomato rice. My partner got the Kookoo Sabzi wrap-- veggie frittata with other bits. We each got drinks too-- she got the fancy lemonade and I got the ginger soda. Food came out in maybe just over 10 minutes. ABSOLUTELY SCRUMPTIOUS. The borani was good especially if you like garlic-- kind of like a combo of baba ghanouj and tzatziki sauce in a way. My vaziri combo was CRAZY good. The beef + lamb tasted like super soft gyros meat that was thick and melted in your mouth (or under your fork). The chicken joojeh flavor was perfect with saffron and yogurt mixed into it. Even the tomato rice was amazing-- super flavorful and spicy, with some "crispy bits" in it, reminiscent of the edges of a great paella. It also came with a small side of torshi that was yummy (cabbage, olive, and onions). My partner was also happy with her frittata, and the drinks were good, though I think the lemonade was the better of the two. What also impressed me was how kind the server was. He asked our names, and I noticed him greeting other customers as they came in by name, as though he remembered them from past visits. He was very kind and welcomed us warmly, checked on us as we ate, and gave advice on dishes as we asked. Definitely a "small family restaurant" feel. Cost-- it's not cheap, but the quality is EXCELLENT, so I say worth every penny. Overall, we loved this place. As we finished, we both said "We'll definitely be coming back." Fully plan to, and I recommend it to anyone to try.

The Borani dip was the standout of the meal, roasted, smoked eggplant with garlic and yogurt. If you know baba ghanooj, it's in that family but with its own flavor profile. I had the double Joojeh, grilled boneless chicken breast in a lovely marinade, served with Persian rice. It was delicious. The Vaziri included a single Joojeh along with a single beef-and-lamb Koobideh, also with Persian rice. That was delicious as well. Everything is made in house including the delicious desserts.
