Ghassan's has become my favorite Mediterranean eatery in the Triad (and now it's the only one I have found! LOL). It's flavors draw me back to the time I spent living in the Detroit Metro area; an area known for a large population from the Mediterranean region of the world. Ghassan's offers flavorful food, quick service, and reasonable prices. Their arrayed menu is a nice combination of meats, sides, and a few salads, all on the healthier side (if you don't count the frying LOL). They also have some Vegan meat options (Yay for me!). I prefer dining in at the location on Battleground Avenue because it is well-maintained and the ambiance is neighborly and jovial. On more than one occasion, I have struck up a conversation with a stranger, so it's nice to go have a bite to eat and maybe meet a new friend. I use to always get the same thing but now I am trying something new. I tried the beef bowl. It was good but I wish I asked from more cucumber sauce. It was a little on the dry side. The staff are alway friendly and helpful to help ypu pick out what to get. Their seating space is like a diner. 4 or 2 chairs to a table or booths. I went their with my folks and brothers family there wasn't a big table that we all could sit at. So, we got a booth and pulled a 2 chairs & a table over. I wish they had a table with 6 chairs. They do have a long table but it has tall chairs around. One is near were you order food. Two tall chairs aren't good when you have small children in your groups. read more

I always pass this place when I'm in Greensboro and I finally decided to try it. Ghassan's did not disappoint! I ordered to-go through their website online to be picked up immediately. My order was a falafel on pita. It came with one side so I picked a side salad with a pickle. Food was ready within 15 minutes of when I ordered. It was located in a pick-up area so it was easy to find and grab. The whole meal was delicious and fresh. It was a very affordable and filling lunch too at less than $10. Ghassan's is a Greensboro landmark. Their steak and cheese sub has won many accolades over the years they've been in operation. It's still my go-to item. The salads are fresh, too. The online ordering platform they have allows for each item to be customized in a way other restaurants don't. I placed an order to go online; it was straightforward and worked well. BUT i feel attention to detail would have helped make the customer experience perfect. The lettuce for my sub included the lettuce core, which was hard and unappetizing! The baklava seemed frozen - it was extremely cold and could not be flaked apart or easily cut. And this was 30 minutes after I picked it up and got it to the house. Will I go to Ghassan's again? Fire fire fire love me some Mediterranean foods & this hits every checkbox. The variety of hummus even some I never heard of; the black olive hummus can be a bit salty(personally). The Mediterranean salad you can eat off of for the whole day. Just tell the staff stop being so stingy with the feta(everything is betta with feta). Just wait their advertisement of fresh, the Gyro meat is the thinly sliced, frozen meat that you can get at most establishments. The tzatziki that complemented it, didn't really complement it. No taste of dill, pickle, spices, anything. While it didn't taste bad, Didn't have that fresh tzatziki taste one would expect from a establishment that proclaims to be fresh. Did I mention the Gyro meat was frozen processed meat? No spit? No good chunks of meat that I've been chard on the grill? The chicken Shawarma was mediocre at best. While it wasn't terrible, it doesn't stand out, especially when you go to Trulia authentic Middle Eastern establishments. I've been eyeing this place for a while because we are in the area alot. Today was finally our day to stop in for a late lunch. It's a casual restaurant where you order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. I wanted the falafel platter but then the Harrisa chicken rice bowl caught my eye so I went with that. And boy am I glad I did. I have never had this flavor of chicken before but the sauce was delicious (and not spicy) and I really enjoyed the tabouli and the pickled cabbage. It also had a white sauce on top that tasted like sour cream, but not being a fan of sour cream I did not care for it. The service was nice and when the soda fountain ran out of ice they promptly filled it up. I look forward to coming back another day and try the falafel platter. read more

Came here to try for the first time. The inside is pretty nice, plenty of seating and very clean. I ordered an order to go (busy day). Normally Mediterranean food is packed full of flavor with being fresh and full of spices. This is the most bland Mediterranean food I've had. Got a few things to try them all out and share. The falafel pita, falafel platter, and the two pita appetizers with hummus and pepper dip. They forgot a few things in our order along with a few sides were also missing. The hummus had no flavor, falafel was sort of bland, but the cauliflower probably had the most flavor out of everything. Sadly, disappointed. Every time I visit this business my food is delicious! I have sat in and ordered carryout and my experience is always consistent. There's plenty of seating indoors. Every time that I've visited, the area is clean and sanitized. I LOVE their Chicken Salad with pita. That's my favorite thing to order when I visit. As an Arab I'll tell you what I really enjoyed and what tasted like home cooking The muhammura pepper dip was perfect like back home The falafel as well! Perfect and I enjoy how they are flatter The toom (garlic dip) was also perfect and you can take tubs home. The tabbuli was also perfect theirs had quinoa in it which was great. I wish the yogurt dip was more like labban or lebneh which is thicker and saltier but I'm sure this is more palatable for western/southern folks. The hummus was good I just add a ton of garlic to mine Toasted nuts would have sent this over the end but for a fast food place this is AMAZING Also their shirts say yalla which made me smile I definitely want one, wish I could have met the owner to say thanks and how good it was!! Quick update: the veggie rice bowl is fire! I ordered this for takeout and it was still hot and fresh when I got it home. The only thing I would do the next time I order is get a light serving of the red cabbage. And the Lebanese pickles. That combination gave it more of a tart taste and the flavors of the two was too much for my tastebuds. Everything else was great though. I really loved the tahini sauce that is drizzled over the cauliflower. And the hummus was a great addition. My fellow vegetarians, I would definitely recommend this dish. Ghassan's has been around since the 1970's, and was probably the first restaurant in Greensboro to offer a variety of on-menu Mediterranean dishes. There is a certain irony in that since much of the Greensboro restaurant scene, especially downtown, was dominated by Greek owned restaurants for probably 50 years or so prior to their opening. The Fleihan brothers, Khaled and Ghassan, arrived in Greensboro after fleeing the civil war in their homeland of Lebanon. They bought a rundown restaurant, a pancake house of dubious repute, on High Point Road, near the Greensboro Coliseum. Business was slow to begin with, but with some publicity from the Greensboro N & R, and word of mouth, the restaurant took off. After a few years, they were able to open another restaurant on Cornwallis, and several years later another on Battleground Avenue, and just recently they add another spot at the UNCG Student Center on Gate City Blvd, and now there is a food truck too! I've eaten at all the locations, but mostly the ones on Battleground and Cornwallis. After years of eating at Ghassan's, I stopped going a little over 2 years ago because the food was not nearly as good - much less fresh tasting, shrinking portions, and sloppy preparation in general - the restaurant(s) had grown stale, and there was much more competition (and very good competition) in this cuisine area - Taste of Troy, Koshary, Mythos, Sarah's, and others! I tried them again recently after hearing that things had changed for the better (2nd generation becoming involved), including some new items on the menu, and much more freshness on the plate - and I found that it was as good as it had ever been. The Chicken Kabobs were incredible - full of flavor, cooked perfectly. The salad (always get the double salad) was fresh tasting, the house dressing was excellent. The Chicken Salad was as good as ever, and the Tabouli is sensational, flavorful but not overpowering. The new Harissa Chicken Rice Bowl was good, but a bit on the mild side. Ghassan's is one of my favorite go to spots for a quick to go lunch. I love their pasta salad and the hummus and cucumbers. They are always very polite and I have never had to wait beyond 10 minutes for my food at the Battleground location. I typically get the same things, gyro platter, chicken pita platter or kabob platter and have never been disappointed. I do plan on trying other menu items. read more

My youngest had chicken nuggets. The chicken nuggets looked like it was from a box in the frozen aisle. The subs, however, were a good size, hearty, and flavorful. I placed a curbside order.I called twice to let them know I was there. The first time one of the ladies hung up on me. It took the 25 min to get it out to my car 15 more mins than app said). I ordered the hummus trio. The hummus was mostly oil. They didn't send the utensils I asked for. My lamb pita was cold. OK Saturday July 30,22 I left a not overly positive review about food I had ordered from Ghassans on Cornwallis. I also sent them an email detailing why I had left such a poor review. I have to say they were very responsive to my email. They were apologetic and righted my issue. So, my faith in Ghassan's on Cornwallis has been restored and I will give the location another shot. They had it all over the computer screen, so I figured I'd pay in cash. Cheese steak and fries $10. I gave him a $20 bill. He give me back a 5 and 5 singles, expecting a tip I guess. Thank goodness for this fine dose of nostalgia and well prepared Mediterranean eats. The cucumber sauce, tahini, hummus, etc are not to be overlooked. It's delicious with pita (or other bread), raw veggies, eggs, and more (very versatile). I ordered the take home tub during COVID-19 and snacked on the Muhammara for several days.
