Our first time to Pryme. We wanted to try something new and have been trying different restaurants in downtown Greensboro lately. The host, Keshawn was very professional and showed us to our seat when we got there. Our waitress, Destiny was busy but let us know she'd be with us shortly. We ordered a couple drinks which were delicious. I had the Get dressed and Get down. Fruity and refreshing! We ordered and it did take quite awhile to get our salads 45 minutes later with no bread service. The salads were great. Arugula with strawberries and goat cheese. Our entrees came later. Steak with lobster add on and Airline chicken with garlic mashed potatoes. All in all the food was delicious and the service was great. The only reason for the four stars was due to the wait time from seating to taking our actual order was over 20 minutes. read more

Hey family! So lately, I have been going out on Thursdays for the past year and Pryme is usually where you will find me. At this point, they know my face and my favorite bartender Dame is usually there. The atmosphere is lovely and most times they have jazz or R&B playing. Like I said before, it's always at a good volume and never too loud. I haven't been for brunch in a while but when I go on Thursdays, they have a special for whiskey and bourbon and also wine. It very laid back, however, I still suggest making a reservation as it came get busy out of nowhere. I've seen it happen. The last time I went I tried the Red Snapper bites which came with rice, Caribbean cabbage and olives. I can't stand olives (its a texture thing) but it wasn't on it at all, it came on the side which I thoroughly appreciated. Everything else was spectacular. I also let Dame make me a drink and I often will say "Bartender's Choice" which means they can create whatever they want based on what flavor profile I like. I'm not sure what the drink was but it was delicious and strong. I only needed 1 that night. The service is always great and it feels like you're catching up with old friends. Although, not pictured, I have tried the shrimp and grits, fried cauliflower, and crab dip with toast points. All are very good. This is one of my favorite spots that feels like my own version of Cheers. If you are in the area, check this place out. Wonderful food, wonderful vibes, and amazing staff. read more

I really wanted to love this spot and give a high star review as it is located in Downtown Greensboro and the atmosphere is beautiful and it's in such a great location. It feels like it should be the perfect brunch place. Unfortunately, my experience was a bit inconsistent. The food came out cold, and the drinks were warm, which was disappointing. The drink menu was confusing, it advertises bottomless mimosas with multiple flavor options, but when I ordered cranberry and asked for it to be bottomless, I was told cranberry wasn't included. That wasn't clearly explained on the menu, so it felt misleading, I still ordered two.  There was also some confusion with the order. I asked our server if the Salmon Benedict included spinach and was told it did not, but it actually did. That said, I will note that I made specific modifications to my Benedict (eggs poached soft and hollandaise on the side), and it came out exactly as requested, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, it was still cold when it reached the table. Other members of the party ordered grits and truffle fries. I was able to try it and they both were tasty and would try again.  We also ran into some issues when trying to split the check, which added a bit of unnecessary stress at the end of the meal. It was very dark inside, especially on such a gorgeous spring day. On a positive note, our water glasses were always kept full, which was nice and didn't go unnoticed. Also note it is in the heart of downtown Greensboro so parking can be a bit of a challenge.  Overall, the vibe is great and the concept has potential, but the execution just wasn't there during the visit. I'd consider giving it another try, maybe for the happy hour offerings. Maybe it was an off day and will be better next time. read more

I visited PRYME for the first time on Mother's Day. I assumed it would be pretty crowded even with the reservation. We arrived a few minutes late for our reservation and checked in and there were multiple parties waiting in the foyer area. I assume there was a combination of folks with reservations and those opting to wait. Most waiting parties were quickly seated, but I overheard the weight staff indicating a need for some tables to turn over as given that it was a holiday. People were probably lingering a bit longer than normal. My husband and I were seated upstairs after waiting approximately 10 minutes or so. We were quickly given menus in an opportunity to Peru's while waiting for water. We both opted to order cocktails. I ordered the Wakanda, which, if I had to describe it simply taste it like boozy and sweet grape Kool-Aid, which I actually enjoyed. My husband ordered the whiskey sour and said it was good, but said that my drink was actually better. We opted for the brussels sprout appetizer, I had the salmon and grits for my entrée. My Husband selected the wings and waffles. Overall, the food was pretty good. The portion on the salmon and grits was pretty large and it was cooked very well. I was a little bit questioning the chicken gravy with the salmon and grits but altogether it came together as a pretty cohesive bit dish my husband enjoyed the chicken and waffles, but indicated that the portion size was a little bit small with only two whole wings and the waffles could've been a bit crispier or cooked a little bit longer. The star of the meal was definitely the brussels sprouts with bacon and what I assume with some sort of honey glaze. The ambience of the restaurant is pretty nice. You can tell at some point it used to be either a bar or a lounge. The upstairs has several dining tables, but also a few couches that I assumed are used during happy hour or to allow parties to wait for their tables. I'm not sure if they have an elevator, but anyone with mobility problems would need to sit in the downstairs dining area. I will say we were at a smaller two person table that was right on top of another table for four and the only reason it was not uncomfortable was that the other table only had three guests. In the event of another guest, we would've been right on top of each other, and it would've been difficult to get in and out of the seating. Overall, it was a good experience, with good food and good drinks. I will say the price point was a bit high, but I think comparable to similar items at other restaurants in the area. I think I'll give this place. Another chance to try out their dinner menu sometime soon. read more

We went last night for my 50th birthday. THE VIBES WERE AWESOME- Jazz playing, blue decor, velvet chairs, gold accents. Got to meet the owner, he is a big Jazz fan, as are we. I loved the music playing and asked our server Edith if she knew what song it was and she found out for me. She was great- nice and attentive- bartender was great- he checked on me with both my drinks, (a dirty martini and espresso martini) the food- wow wow- we got stand up lobster Mac and cheese, shared a ribeye, thy cauliflower apologized, sweet potato Casserole and Brussels sprouts . Lovely interior and vibe for a weekend/night out in downtown. The place seems to get packed quickly and a wait is very likely. Luckily, the host was nice enough to allow seating at the bar. My associate and I seated ourselves and viewed the menu. She ordered their pasta and voiced her appreciation for the meal. It did look tasty! The drinks were delicious. The food was plated neatly. I ordered salmon and it was cooked well but more could be desired when it comes to flavor. The mango salsa was a refreshing addition. The bartender was passionate about his craft and the drinks were tasty and appealing. I requested a cocktail of his choice and was not disappointed. There's live music here and the band and vocalist performed familiar tunes during my time there. The upstairs area also offers seating. Overall, it could be a bit pricey on a regular basis but could be a nice place to celebrate. Though not mentioned before receiving my bill, the gratuity was added to the total. As a first-time guest, this would be good information to have. Otherwise, a newer location in the downtown area that is worth trying. read more

This place is super cute! The decor is upscale, gives a luxe vibe. There is a DJ during Sunday brunch playing 90s and early 00s R&B. The drinks are top tier! I had the blood orange margarita. The food yall!! Whew! I had the flounder and grits with a side of collard greens....PERFECTION! The Gouda grits make you wanna slap your mama, lol! The service was amazing! Shout out to Ms. Renee (I hope I got that right) for taking care of our table from start to finish! So sweet and accommodating. The food was amazing! When you first walk in the aesthetics of the restaurant is beautiful. I ordered Roasted Airline Chicken which included garlic mashed potatoes. The chicken was very tender and the potatoes were seasoned perfectly. My fiancé ordered Crab Cakes and Pryme Salad. He mentioned that there was more breading than crab meat but they had a good taste. His salad was good, especially the ranch dressing. It was a different which leads me to believe that it was homemade. The service was great! Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Heard about this place while I was in NC and those it looked cute. My cousins and I visited and enjoyed ourselves. The food was kind of different takes on classic food but was good! I believe when we visited he was still relatively new so I think they were still getting in the flow of things but the service was pretty slow and they didn't have a lot of the drinks on their menu. I have only amazing things to say about this restaurant. From the moment we stepped in we knew it was going to be a great dinner an experience. The host Keshawn explained the live music would start at 7pm and after we got seated recommended some of his favorites. Our server Sol was so sweet and took great care of us! I asked her if I should get the brussel sprouts or mashed potatoes she was quick to recommend the brussel sprouts. They were delicious and plenty to share! My lobster was cooked perfectly and practically melted in my mouth. My husband's ribeye was cooked rare just the way he likes it. He got the truffle fries Keshawn had recommended and we both agreed were fresh and yummy. I got two happy hour drinks I enjoyed. My husband tried 3 different drinks while we were there. He enjoyed their orange margarita, his first dirty gin martini and their smoked old fashioned. The bar tender came out to our table to ask how his first gin martini was. My husband loved all of them but said if he had to rank the smoked old fashioned was his number 1 and the gin martini took a close second. The head chef stopped by our table to make sure everything turn out well. The live music was a bluesy piano and guitar that was loud enough to enjoy but quiet enough you could still easily make conversation. Sol checked in on us and kept our drinks fresh even after she was sat with a large party. Keshawn invited us to enjoy the lounge upstairs where we could continue with our drinks and enjoy the music. Unfortunately we had a concert to get to because we would've really enjoyed relaxing upstairs! On our way out we complimented the bartender and got to chat with him a little. Everyone was so friendly and we definitely plan on coming back it's about an hour from our home. We also got to chat with the head chef some more outside of the restaurant as he was welcoming in new guests. Extremely fun to chat with him and hear him talk so passionately about his work. A few Friday nights ago, we were on a very specific mission in downtown Greensboro: bar seating for 4 at a nicer restaurant. After striking out at all the obvious choices, Greg saw us contemplating our next move and ushered us into Pryme for a free tour. The interior was elegant without being stuffy, and there was live music. However, we ran into the same problem as we did earlier in the evening: there weren't 4 available seats together at the bar. Greg went above and beyond and gently asked the lady sitting in the middle of the bar to move down so we could all sit together. That gesture really made a great first impression because none of the other restaurants we went to bothered to make that extra effort. After completing our quest, we were thirsty. Danny took excellent care of us at the bar. We started off with a round of drinks and some appetizers to share. I ordered Let the Lemons Drop because lemons and egg whites are a match made in heaven for me. Other cocktails ordered by our group included the Miami Summer Margarita, Blue Steel Mimosa, and 1920 Old Fashioned. The Blue Steel was a visual masterpiece - with all the swirling components, it looked like Jupiter! For our appetizers, we shared the Pryme Yardbird and Her Cauli Flowers. Both appetizers were delicious, but the cauliflower was the crowd favorite. It was very delicately tempura fried, so they were very light. The honey drizzle was also a fantastic touch. We also shared a Caesar Pleaser. It was a little awkward that the Romaine was served in big leaves without being chopped, but we made it work. For our entrees, I ordered the Ribeye, and my boyfriend got the Pryme Chop. We also split a side of the Brussel Sprouts with Bacon with our friends. My ribeye was cooked perfectly to my preference (medium rare), and I was excited to pick a sauce to go with it. I had to do my research on the sauce options, but I settled on ordering the Bearnaise, which added a nice creaminess to the steak. I was disappointed with the brussel sprouts. It never makes sense to me when the chef decides not to trim off the ends of the brussel sprouts. They're so woody and made this the worst dish of the night. Overall, we had a pleasant evening enjoying one of the newer restaurants in town. The live music did make it challenging to hear each other at times, but it was still nice to have for the ambiance. I look forward to returning after Pryme has been open a little longer. read more

We had a wow of a great time Sunday August 18 when they were having a soft opening. Walking by, we were invited in to take a look around. Took us about two seconds to decide to hunker down on the amazingly comfortable bar chairs (too good to be called stools) where we were treated to the most friendly staff, fantastic drinks, a delicious lobster dip and a beautiful ambiance. Bartender Danny has clearly spent years perfecting his craft (and has won awards). We can personally attest to his prowess at a Smoked Old Fashioned, Let The Lemons Drop, New York Whiskey Sour and a Dirty Martini. Chef Darius was kind enough to make us their lobster dip even though it wasn't on the menu at the time. He even came out and asked us how we liked it. Everyone here was all about making sure we loved everything and we sure did! The pride in what they have created is so evident. Next time we are in downtown Greensboro we will so be back for a full meal. And if we lived there, we would be regulars for their killer-looking happy hours! read more

Highly recommend this delicious and friendly staffed restaurant. You can't miss with anything on the menu and if you can, would be great to order dishes to split, as most dishes are a good portion size to share with others. Crab cakes were delicious, especially for a non-coastal city. Brussel sprouts are some of the best I've had at a restaurant . The Wakanda drink tasted great but may have been too sugary for me as it didn't settle with me well. This would be a great venue for a birthday party and seems to have space to accommodate groups. Keep in mind you will have automatic gratuity - but don't think that means you still won't get excellent service! they have beautiful decorations and decor which helps to set up an elegant vibe and nice photos. To some it all up, this restaurant is over hyped and overly expensive. The bottomless mimosas were $35 for starters and you have to order each food item a la carte essentially, to make a full meal. The food did taste good but it wasn't amazing. The best thing in my opinion were the grits. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles and some of the chicken was pink on the inside and the waffle was hard & crunchy. I'm all for a luxury experience, but for the PRICE this was definitely one of my least favorite foodie adventures in Greensboro. The atmosphere and the decor were cute, my only qualms with the ambiance were that it was freezing cold inside and the music was so loud I would barely hear the people at the table with me. There is gratuity charged to your bill regardless of party size. Each person in my party of 4 paid $85+ for their Sunday brunch. If you do decide to patron this establishment just be mindful of that. read more

Pryme is my new go to for well-crafted drinks and appetizers right after work. I've popped in a few times and tried the specials. The bartenders are great and have crafted an upscale cocktail menu but they also create on the fly. Shout out to Danny and Peter. The description says soul food, but that's a bit of a misnomer. I ate at Prime in June and my girlfriend and I still can't get over how good their mashed potatoes are. The potatoes that came with the Airplane Chicken were amazing! We will probably go back this coming weekend and have some. The steak was good and definitely tasty, but I would recommend having the potatoes go with it as well, along with the bed of greens.
