I always have a great experience at Herbies! The service was excellent especially when you consider how busy they always are during breakfast/brunch. They are extremely fast when cleaning up the tables so the wait time is usually very minimal as long as you don't have a large party. The food is what you'd expect from a diner. Nothing is exceptional, but everything is consistently good. The scrambled eggs and grits are perfectly cooked, but they aren't really seasoned so you'll have to add your butter, salt, and pepper after the fact. The bacon is good, but not as crispy as I prefer it to be. The half and half tea is easily one of the best and consistent I've had in Greensboro. Quality food for a cheap price is definitely worth the 5 stars. read more

I stopped in here for a quick lunch at 10 am. Luckily, they seem to serve their whole menu all day, so this was not a problem. Despite being packed inside, I was able to sit down immediately and was served very quickly. I had a chef salad with chicken breast. For less than $10, the salad was HUGE and spilling over the sides of the serving plate they brought it out on. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it didn't cost any kind of $3-6 up-charge you usually expect to pay for a protein on something like this. The ranch was brought to me in a small bowl on the side, and tasted thick and homemade. They seem to grate their own cheese, as it has no powdery coating and tasted more strongly than usual. This restaurant brought back childhood memories when it came to meeting Veterans, they would have their morning coffee and talk. We paid for 2 veterans breakfast while we was there and thank them for their service. I like the fact that they dont season the food (to each their own). Which yes I get we are young so it may be a little annoying, but we were very respectful saying yes ma'am, thank you and even being considerate of their being so many people and only one server. Well, when we walked in and sat down, it took about five minutes for us to get our menus, which is perfectly fine. The place was packed, but when she came and gave us our menus, she slammed them down on the table and when she was taking the menus back, she snatched them out of our hands as well as when we got our drinks, she slammed my fiancé's drink down on the table to where it spilled out a little bit. Gotta love Herbie's. I have very fond memories coming here way past midnight after a shift and enjoying a hearty plate with a good friend. Even at 3 in the morning the service didn't miss a beat. Things have changed a bit since they no longer stay open late. However, the food is still what you can expect from a greasy spoon. We were looking to eat breakfast at a quick diner with reasonable prices. This place checks both boxes. They have ample parking. It is a seat yourself establishment. Vibe was good. Place was clean. There is a super friendly guy, who cleans the tables, walking around and he helps you find a seat. We sat down right away and didn't wait long at all before our waitress came to take our drink order. My son says he rates the milk 10 out of 10. lol I wasn't impressed by the coffee. It tasted like instant coffee to me, which is my least favorite kind. That was the only thing that I disliked. The food came out quickly even with a packed house. All of the condiments are already available at your table, but our waitress made sure we had what we needed. The hash downs were so good. The booths were tightly packed in and having more than one person on each side would have been a squeeze. The food was a great deal.
