We love herbies!!! We go almost every single weekend. Seating is first come first serve but you never have to wait long even if the line is out the door. Service is fast!! All the waitresses are so kind and attentive. There's bar top and booth seating which fit 4 comfortably so if you have a bigger party you'll have to sit seperate. Herbies serves typical diner food exactly how you'd expect it every time. My go to is either the steak and cheese sub if I'm wanting lunch food or daily breakfast special with a waffle. read more

I always have a great experience at Herbies! The service was excellent especially when you consider how busy they always are during breakfast/brunch. They are extremely fast when cleaning up the tables so the wait time is usually very minimal as long as you don't have a large party. The food is what you'd expect from a diner. Nothing is exceptional, but everything is consistently good. The scrambled eggs and grits are perfectly cooked, but they aren't really seasoned so you'll have to add your butter, salt, and pepper after the fact. The bacon is good, but not as crispy as I prefer it to be. The half and half tea is easily one of the best and consistent I've had in Greensboro. Quality food for a cheap price is definitely worth the 5 stars. read more

I stopped in here for a quick lunch at 10 am. Luckily, they seem to serve their whole menu all day, so this was not a problem. Despite being packed inside, I was able to sit down immediately and was served very quickly. I had a chef salad with chicken breast. For less than $10, the salad was HUGE and spilling over the sides of the serving plate they brought it out on. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it didn't cost any kind of $3-6 up-charge you usually expect to pay for a protein on something like this. The ranch was brought to me in a small bowl on the side, and tasted thick and homemade. They seem to grate their own cheese, as it has no powdery coating and tasted more strongly than usual. This isn't something I even think to look for normally, but it was a nice touch. Every single ingredient in the salad tasted good. read more

Best diner in Greensboro! Completely slept on. The inside has the old school booths. Reminds me of Waffle House. The service is quick and they make you feel like home. Can't go wrong with anything but I love those hot dogs, the split them and grill them on the flat top. Onion rings with ranch are superior! read more

This classic diner has been around for 30 years and continues to push out quality food at a fair price. Our table order was all burgers made anyway you like them. Hash browns and fries on the side. Great service and an atmosphere that makes you feel like a regular. The full menu is offered all day. read more

This restaurant brought back childhood memories when it came to meeting Veterans, they would have their morning coffee and talk. We paid for 2 veterans breakfast while we was there and thank them for their service. I like the fact that they dont season the food (to each their own). The service was really good to be a fast pace diner. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting and the person taking the dishes off the table was singing to us. He made everything fun. I really like diners where you can walk in and feel welcome. This is definitely the place and I really appreciate that. read more

Finally tried Herbie's Place after living in Greensboro for over ten years. It was delicious! I don't know why I waited so long to try it. After a short wait we were seated and served right away by a nice waitress. I ordered the large breakfast and it was all very good. I loved the bacon and eggs paired with the hash browns. All of it went perfectly with bottomless coffee. I can't wait to come back and try some other things! read more

Good diner food with fast service. Offering all-day breakfast and lunch/dinner options at reasonable prices.

Gotta love Herbie's. I have very fond memories coming here way past midnight after a shift and enjoying a hearty plate with a good friend. Even at 3 in the morning the service didn't miss a beat. Things have changed a bit since they no longer stay open late. However, the food is still what you can expect from a greasy spoon. No complaints as I've always had a nice plate of food and great service to go with it--now and in the past. Thanks Herbie's! read more

Me and my fiancé, my brother and his girlfriend came in on Valentine's Day me and my fiancée always come here we love the food and normally the service . Which yes I get we are young so it may be a little annoying, but we were very respectful saying yes ma'am, thank you and even being considerate of their being so many people and only one server. Well, when we walked in and sat down, it took about five minutes for us to get our menus, which is perfectly fine. The place was packed, but when she came and gave us our menus, she slammed them down on the table and when she was taking the menus back, she snatched them out of our hands as well as when we got our drinks, she slammed my fiancé's drink down on the table to where it spilled out a little bit. The food was good, especially tonight, but we just wish we were treated a little bit more respectful. read more

Herbie's place is Greensboro, NC institution. Good cheap food with decent service generally friendly folks.

Great service, friendly. Diner food, breakfast all day. Good coffee, and desserts as well. They had been open 24 hours, but in the past few years have changed. They now close at 10pm. Good salads, burgers and sandwiches. And Mickey Mouse pancakes make it great for families. read more

Dine in | Dinner | $1-10 Nice local diner in Greensboro, right on busy battleground. Always rode past this spot but haven't bothered to stop by until tonight. I love diner food as it's simple and cheap for a quick bite to eat. You do grab a menu and seat yourself. Our waitress was right over to provide us water. We ordered a slice of chocolate cake, pancakes, a patty melt, and double bacon cheese burger. Did not get a chance to try my partner's meal or the slice of cake but he had no complaints. My patty melt didn't taste as I expected, would say it lacked flavor but it wasn't bad at all. I am use to a thinner piece of beef though-- it was on the thicker side. I enjoyed our meal and agreed we'll be back. Food: 5| Service: 5 | Atmosphere: 5 read more

This is the spot. If you're looking for a diner that gives a family friendly environment with very friendly staff this is it. The food never disappoints. It is my wife and I's go to for a nice weekend morning ritual. I wish NC had more spots like this at least in Greensboro. I will say you guys should consider opening back to 24/7 at least for spring and summer. First responders gotta eat too! read more

This place has the look of a diner inside with an open kitchen. The food was good and cooked well. I ordered eggs over medium and they were cooked as expected. Staff was friendly and very attentive. I'm a big fan of diners and the Americana experience that is slowly disappearing. This is a solid choice for good food without any pretentious styling. So thumbs up from me! read more

It's a typical diner but the food is pretty good. I have always enjoyed what I ordered and the service is always fast and friendly.

I had sausage, eggs and hash browns. I got heart burn. This place puts the 'grease' in 'greasy spoon'.

I have eaten many times here for breakfast. The place stays busy. My go to is cheesy grits and sausage gravy biscuit. Always delicious. The service is always great. The tables get bussed very fast to keep up with the crowd. In the years I've been going the prices have not gone up which is not typical. This is my favorite breakfast diner. read more

Have been going to Herbie's for years. Hadn't been there in a while. Went last week and was disappointed. Menu prices were up significantly, but not the quality of the food. Same as before. The diner itself desperately needs an overhaul. Compared to newer diners in the area Herbie's needs a major facelift. Very dirty and old. Booths torn and damaged read more

We were looking to eat breakfast at a quick diner with reasonable prices. This place checks both boxes. They have ample parking. It is a seat yourself establishment. Vibe was good. Place was clean. There is a super friendly guy, who cleans the tables, walking around and he helps you find a seat. We sat down right away and didn't wait long at all before our waitress came to take our drink order. My son says he rates the milk 10 out of 10. lol I wasn't impressed by the coffee. It tasted like instant coffee to me, which is my least favorite kind. That was the only thing that I disliked. The food came out quickly even with a packed house. All of the condiments are already available at your table, but our waitress made sure we had what we needed. The hash downs were so good. The bacon was very tasty. It was cooked well. My son loved the bacon. The pancakes were yummy. I loved the grits. The texture of the grits was just right. Eggs were scrambled just how I like them. Our attentive waitress checked on us often. The check is placed at the table and you pay at the counter. We will definitely be back. read more

This was a great, affordable diner. There was a wait to get in for weekend breakfast and it was seat yourself. The booths were tightly packed in and having more than one person on each side would have been a squeeze. The food was a great deal. I chose typical breakfast faire, and liked everything that was served to me. My over-medium eggs were overdone, but the fluffy pancakes more than made up for it. Service was very attentive in spite of the restaurant being completely full. If you're looking for a hearty breakfast and a quick place to eat, this is a great option. read more

Had breakfast this morning at Herbies and it was delicious! I had been craving a diner type breakfast and this hit the spot. Service once we were able to get sat was very quick and the waitress was friendly. We did have to wait a little outside in line because there is less seating due to covid. I am not 100% why it's ok that people can sit next to each other all in a row at the bar but not back to back booths but oh well! Food was good! Will be back! read more

Modeled loosely around Disney's Herbie film franchise, Herbie's Place serves a tasty breakfast at a reasonable charge. I've been twice for breakfast (I've had eggs, hamburger steak, hash browns, bacon, grits, biscuit, and coffee), and a couple of things stood out both times. First, this place is lively. Filled with locals and regulars, there is a lot of excitement and chatter as the patrons enjoy their breakfast. The workers, from the bus staff to the waitstaff to the cooks, are friendly and constantly working hard. Secondly, the food is very good. But keep in mind that this is diner food-- no Eggs Benedict, Welsh Rarebit, or Panettone French Toast here. And that's absolutely fine, for within the lane (sorry, I couldn't resist) of diner fare, Herbie's Place is about as good as you will find. read more

Avoid going on Sunday, always busy, over pack and gets crowded easily because this place isn't that big.
