Service is always good...and nice servers.... Food is good, never had a bad experience with this restaurant.....

We eat at Rainbow quite a bit and meet up with friends there for lunch. The staff and service is great, food is good and we don't feel rushed to eat n run. I recommend this family restaurant. read more

Food was ok. Club sandwich was missing ingredients that the menu plainly stated were on the sandwich. Chips were overcooked. Service was the best part and she got a good tip. As for the restaurant being clean it was. That does not make up for the food. Probably will never return. read more

On this #ThankYouThursday, I'm kicking my thanks the way of a place that has gone relatively unchanged for several decades, and is still making tasty food the way I remember all for a fair price. The Rainbow Family Restaurant. Located in front of the shell that used to be the "Westchester Mall" that I think has been repurposed a time or two, it lives on as the only original structure I can remember. Walking into the Rainbow now at dinner time, I have to be honest, I lowered the median age in there significantly. There were lots of elderly couples or older parents having a meal with their adult kids and maybe their grandkids, and that is totally fine! The service was friendly, food was served piping hot and timely, and all was right in the world. They have a wide menu, and it's definitely a "Jack of all trades" kind of place. There is one big gem though, that I feel everyone needs to know about. The open-faced meatball sub. I remembered getting this as a kid a few times, and loving how saucy, messy, and cheesy it was. It's a pretty simple concept but I've never seen it anywhere else. A meatball sub served open face, covered in marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese, and then baked. It comes out on a fajita skillet in a pool of sauce, and is served with a side. I opted for hot chips and ranch. It was such good comfort food. Cutting off slices of bread and meatball and rolling them around in the melty cheese was satisfying and delicious. The sauce is a little on the sweeter side as far as marinara goes, but, it went really well with all the other flavors. As a bonus, my hot chips were crispy and perfect, and the ranch was some of the best I've had lately. My meal was served with my ticket, but the great service refilling my tea was always prompt and cheery. When you're ready to go, just pay at the counter. I was pleasantly surprised that this place has stood the test of time, and now it is going to be far less time between visits for me... even if it is a little bit of a hike across High Point. read more

The food is bland tasting but ok. The prices are some what a little to high. It's hard for people to go out and eat anymore and also leave a tip,the prices on food steady going up and our paychecks are not. read more

I had to run out to High Point, so as I was driving by decided to try The Rainbow Family Restaurant. I was extremely surprised to read the hours on the door that stated closed on Saturday and Sunday. Isn't that when most 'families' go out to eat?! Anyway, as I walked in, I was greeted promptly by the hostess and seated. The restaurant seemed clean. The waitress promptly asked what I'd like to drink, and gave me a minute with the menu. She wasn't really friendly, but efficient, and cordial. The food came out very quickly, I was about 1/2 thru my salad when the entree arrived. Had I known there was no cheese on the salad, I would have requested some. The manicotti was sort of bland, like the marinara came out of a jar. ( I've had lean cuisine that had better flavor) other than that it was ok. As I was sitting there, the waitress started taking an order from the table in front of me. I think they were regulars, as there was friendly banter. I felt better about it at that point, thinking maybe she was just extremely busy. I asked if I could have an iced tea to go, she happily got one for me. If I'm back in that area of High-Point, I would go back if they were open. Sadly, if I'm in that area, it usually the weekend, and they're closed read more

Delicious food. Service amazing. Customer friendly and well lite. Just enjoy the staff and especially the food.

I've driven past this restaurant a number of times, but never sop here, until today. This roomy, bright, airy place has something for everyone on its expansive menu. They have daily meat & 2, and meat & 3 plates ranging from Hamburger Steak, Chicken Pot Pie, Fried Flounder, Popcorn Shrimp, BBQ Ribs, Veal Parmesan, Chicken & Dumplings, Meat Loaf, Spaghetti w/ Meat Sauce, Baked Chicken, Chicken Livers, Baked Manicotti, and even more. The salads are large, fresh, and varied. They offer a variety of sandwiches, including Hot Dogs, Cheeseburgers, BLT, Tuna, Roast Beef, Subs, and even more. They have a Kids Menu & a Senior Citizens Menu with specials, We had Country Style Steak with mashed potatoes & gravy, and Fried Okra. Also ordered Chicken Livers, Fried Squash, and Pinto Beans. Corn Bread with one, roll with the other. Priced at $7.95. Steak was fall apart tender, with rich, flavorful gravy. The okra was excellent, crispy with real okra taste. Potatoes were a little bland, but were excellent after salt & pepper did its magic. The Chicken Livers were done perfectly, nice crust, but moist & tender. The pintos were loaded with flavor, enhanced even more with a little raw onion and crumbled corn bread. The fried squash was too heavily breaded for my taste. Corn Bread & roll were nice. Not too many places can pull off the wide variety items that this place can. The portions are nice, the pricing reasonable, the service excellent. You will have a hard time choosing between the Greek, Italian, Southern dishes, or the salads, or the sandwiches, and more. We did not partake, but the cakes on display were wicked looking. I am already plotting my next visit ordering strategy. read more

Pretty Great Friendly service. Of course (Down South), it's a Diner... nothing extraordinary, food was pretty good if you want to grab something quick served. I got the fried chicken I should have known it wouldn't be actual chicken but I was excited bc I was down south anyways it was just a chicken tender with gravy on it. But Tasty. I'd recommend if you don't know what to eat and are very indecisive. (Me) read more

There's a reason Rainbow has been in business over 20 yrs. They do not over salt their food, which i appreciate. They have a huge variety and generous portions. The senior menu is the perfect portion for my elderly mother. Their wait staff is professional and fast and many of them have been there for a number of years. The food comes quickly and hot. My personal favorite is the baked chicken with rice which comes with 2 or 3 sides. Their dressings are home made and the 1000 Island is my favorite. Cucumber salad, steamed cabbage, Lima beans, are all excellent. Their fried fish and shrimp are wonderful. The baked spaghetti is plenty for two people but you may want some to take home. The grilled chicken salad is hard to resist as it is loaded with vegetables and the chicken has been marinated so it's extra good. If it sounds like I've tried everything on the menu, it's because I've been eating there for more than 20 yrs. Wonderful food, served hot and fast by lovely ladies and locally owned by a delightful family. You won't get this quality at a chain. read more

Family friendly fresh delicious food. We have come here several times and every time it has been very good. The staff is always friendly. The menu is enormous. Greek, Italian, and southern menu items means that there is something for everyone. The meatball sub is huge and amazing. Must be eaten with a knife and fork. Our sone loves the homemade vegetable soup. Daily and senior specials. A bonus: They serve S&D coffee which is the best around. If you want an affordable wholesome family sit down place this is it! read more

We enjoy going to the Rainbow Family Restaurant even though it is a 35 minute drive. They keep the place very clean. The staff is always very friendly and continually check on you. And the food is very good and reasonably priced. read more

I have eaten here for years. Great family. Family atmosphere. No alcohol. Salads are incredible (greek, grilled chicken add feta, homemade italian dressing). Home made home style veggies. Italian dishes such as lasagne, spagetti and meat balls, chicken ravoccati. Greek chicken is the best. Big portions. Lunch specials (pick a meat and 2-3 veggies). Chris E. read more

Gross. I know that people have different ideas about home-cooked meals, but school-cafeteria-style has never seemed like a benefit. The vegetables, if they can still be called that, are all boiled and mushy. It's like ... a more-disgusting K&W. read more

If flavors were bright colors, this rainbow would be all Grey. Would I go back? There is no way! Stars? This place gets but one. This restaurant disappointed everyone. From ages 8 to 78, food was left on every plate. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday. The lunch special seemed like a good deal. Restaurant seems to do a good business at lunch but not overly busy. The place is clean and seems to have good up keep. The outside matches the food. "Nothing special" is the impression I get. If you want family style you're better of with K&W. The pork chops are ok but the sides like the turnip greens are less than average. read more

Rainbow Family Restaurant is such an amazing place to eat. If you've ever driven in once, your sure to go back. My family and i have passed it a few times and so one day i decided we should go in and we were all glad we did. Such good food, and anything your taste buds would desire your sure to find. Anything from greek to Southern food italian or american. There is something for everyone in the family. Its Family owned and operated so that is always a good thing and very nice to know. Nice atmosphere and very welcoming staff. Everyone is so friendly. Not even closely compared to a K&W, that food is gross! Nothing to do with a cafeteria like others have stated. JUST GO AND TRY IT FOR YOUR SELF. Oh and the food portion is way worth the price, you have enough food for two days :) we are all going back. 5 Stars all the way!!! read more

My husband and I were in North Carolina visiting his brother and wife. We were looking for a nice restaurant and we drove past Rainbow and their parking lot was full. So we thought we would give it a shot. Boy am I glad we did. My husband had the hamburger steak with onions and gravy and I tried the barbecue chicken. The food was delicious, and even though they were busy the service was great and quick. Next time we visit this will be our first stop. read more

Rainbow is our family's go to place to eat ! Love love love it!! It's home cooking with out having to do the dishes. We call it "real" food. In our fast food drive thru world that we all live in a family can still sit down , order a real dinner , meat, 2or 3 veggies or dessert, bread & a drink for 8$ . If you have extra time try the Greek chicken, its fantastic lemony with greek seasoning . The menu states that it takes longer because face it fresh baked chicken has to bake but believe me its worth it. The staff & owners are always friendly , We have been eating here for years & love that its family owned & operated. read more

My husband and I are older and love good home cooked meals. At Rainbow, an entree with 3 vegetables with bread and tea or coffee included is only around $8.00. Portions are generous and the service is excellent. We have eaten there many times and the quality and service is consistently good. The chef and chicken salads are huge and delicious. Several of our favorite entrees are the fried shrimp, baked chicken with rice, and the whitefish. There are so many tasty, home-cooked side dish choices to choose from. The pinto beans, sliced tomatoes, greens, side salad, beets, and yams are a few of our faves. The dining area is pleasant with large windows and attractive decor. read more

I've been here for dinner four times in past year. I've tried the fried fish, roast beef and Greek and Chef salads. Service was fast and courteous and everything was okay, but nothing memorable, somewhat bland. Salads were large and very fresh tasting, but hot vegetables were overcooked. Prices were reasonable, and the restaurant was very clean and cheery looking. read more

They have a great menu of meats and veggies with senior prices. The food is delicious. The service is great.

i have been coming to rainbow family restaurant for years and enjoying the food and the service from some of the wait staff. i recently came to rainbow with my daughter and rita was our waitress, we originally asked for kim but was told it was her day off, so we were given rita. now again, i've been coming for years, so i know the waitresses and the owners pretty well. with that being said, i would return if i never saw rita again. this woman who has been employed for many years by this family, stood there and belittled the very ones that employer her despite her personality and her rudeness (at times) i was embarrassed by some of the things that she was saying about the owners and their son and his wife. let me quote some of the things she said. she first complained about the "little girls" that were seating people. and i quote "carol highers these little girls who don't know their ass from their elbows, always seating people wrong in the wrong sections". she stated that "andrew and his wife are the reason that they don't have the customers that they used to have". she also stated "once you have stupid people hiring stupid people, then there goes the business" she stated that's why the restaurant is now closed on sundays "they let faye run the place into the ground". she mentioned that she is only supposed to be part-time but because "all of the other little girls that are waitresses just call out whenever they feel like it with a bs excuse and nick and carol fall for it every time and she has to work all the time instead of part time"....i mean i could not believe some of the things that she was saying and it broke my heart and i'm not even an employee there. i have so much respect for the family and their establishment but i will not go in there on days that rita is working. my ears just wouldn't be able to take it and for fear that i might blow my top at her, i'd rather just check with the hostess to see if she is there before asking to be seated. rainbow's family restaurant is a great l spot, with good food, good neighbors and a great staff, despite some people. read more
