Outstanding every time. Fun to pick up and take home. She loves crepes and it's tough to make just 2. Ordered over the phone, greeted at the door and at the counter. Very clean and inviting! Love this place. read more

It's parent weekend at High Point Univ, so finding eating options can sometime be tricky. Good friends were here because their son goes to the univ. I called Tom's a few days before and was told we needed 10 people to get reservations for Sat Lunch. I asked the girl to please ask the manager and she did and he said okay! Our experience was great as they were very busy but we were seated quickly and the waitress was very attentive. As she juggled several tables, she got us our food quickly and kept drinks filled. I had the chicken crêpes and wife said her omlette was very good. read more

I see why this place is ALWAYS packed!!! The portions are wild. Tasted amazing, service was great. Got right in and ate at the bar, definitely worth it read more

It's a diner and the atmosphere is diner with friendly service and prices. Their eggs were cooked to perfection and the biscuit was fantastic. Now the pretty bad stuff the breakfast meats. My husband got the Neeses sausage, it was dry and tasted like a hockey puck. I have never met a slice of bacon I didn't like, until this morning. I swear I was eating tasteless rubber bands. Although OK, I will probably not go out of my way to eat here. IHOP is closer and better. read more

Tom's is the BEST venue for breakfast in our area. My nephew and I meet up for breakfast regularly to solve the world's problems. It was my turn to pick and I wanted to go to a proven leader. And, they have good coffee. The food has always been stunning. So happy they have included once-only specials are now on the regular menu. A real treat. Our server was smashing without being overbearing. She anticipated our needs and never an empty cup. You don't go to Tom's just for the food. It's the people. read more

We frequent this spot for breakfast!everything is always so good. I'm picky about sausage gravy & theirs is delicious. It pairs very well with a grilled biscuit. The atmosphere is like a country kitchen diner so tables are tight with booths around the exterior walls. All the staff are exceptional, so you never go wrong with Shayna, Victoria, Selena, Kristina, etc. read more

I always have the same order here: spinach and mushroom omelette and they always do a great job. Very friendly and the food is delicious. You can not go wrong with either their grits or hash browns and toast is nice and crispy but they also have biscuits. I'll try lunch/dinner one day, just not sure when. read more

10/10 would recommend. It was booming for a Monday morning and I see why. Parking is ample and I like that you can exit out the back and come out to a light rather than making a left onto Main Street to go home. We were greeted with a smile the moment we walked in. Both the servers we saw were attentive without being too much. Very pleasant. Food was great. Just the right amount of sweet in my bananas foster French toast and he said the perfect amount of savory in his down south bowl. It was a great start to our week and we'll def be back. Love you can get a brunch menu/atmosphere on a weekday. read more

A Sunday morning, the restaurant was packed and was still seated in a matter of minutes. Service was excellent! The usual diner although it was much quieter and a lot cleaner. I ordered the Tom's breakfast plate which came with a lot of food for $15. My husband ordered the Big Boy breakfast, tenderloin, 3 eggs, grits, toast(sub from hash browns), fresh fruit. The food was served hot and fresh and this is always a win for me! I definitely recommend for anyone look to enjoy a good breakfast. read more

Tom's Place is one of those names I've heard in passing, but honestly never knew where it was and never been here. I didn't realize it was right in the heart of High Point until I was recently searching for a new breakfast place to try. It comes highly recommended, and I can see why! Now let me say: I'm only giving 4 stars for this visit because the food had some room for improvement. However, I honestly believe that most visits here would be 5-star visits and I expect to update my review next time I go and try different menu options. A diner with some modern decor and ample seating, it's easy to seat yourself in a comfortable booth as soon as you walk in. The staff are friendly and promptly greet you. We of course both enjoyed coffees, and I personally thought the mugs were very nice looking. They were a bit smaller than your average diner mug, but they were always kept full with hot refills so this was never a problem. There is a very strong menu offering, and you can also build essentially anything you want even if it's not on the menu. Today, I settled on the Southern Scramble, which is a bowl with a mixture of eggs, sausage, country ham, bacon, hash browns, peppers and onions, and gravy on top. This was a decent combination of flavors and very filling, although the hash browns were over cooked and tough, which took away a bit from the overall picture. It is served with a biscuit and while they look great, I thought it was a bit dry and bland compared to others I've had. I might go for the croissant option next time! My wife got chicken and waffles, but we were interested to learn that grilled chicken was an option to make it marginally more healthy. Was a great choice this was, and the grilled chicken was fantastic. I bet it would be great topping a salad. Of course the malted waffle was great too. It was a solid offering. We're definitely going to be coming back here for breakfasts, because I want to try their omelettes which looked tasty on other tables. Also, the dinner offerings look promising so I plan to try a later day visit as well. This is a great place, even if my first food choice was a bit middling. But I'll certainly be back, and you should try it too! read more

We happily returned here after having a great experience several months ago. This time we sat at the counter which was great. The counter service was equally as fantastic as the table service we had last time. Food was perfect. I had my favorite 2 eggs over medium, hash browns, bacon and rye toast. It was perfect. My son and husband had the Bananas Foster French Toast and the Crepes with heavenly sweetness on top. They were very happy diners. The counter top was clean and the restaurant atmosphere was busy but very pleasant. read more

Great food for the whole family, stop by and they will feed you. You will love the way you are treated like family.

Always a pleasant experience at Tom's place. Great, attentive staff. I love their breakfast and lunch. The homemade chicken salad on a croissant with crispy, perfectly cooked fries is so so good! Also, the bananas foster french toast and breakfast burrito are my favorite for breakfast. So many good choices here. read more

Casual place seemed ok at first glance. Bacon burnt with a funny taste, chicken and waffles included a frozen waffle and burnt chicken fingers. Crepes had a funny sour cream filling had to order something else - Benedict seemed solid. No selection of teas no honey and no strawberries said they ran out? One and done read more

Service is Exceptionally Good! Even as they were closing we arrived like 40 min. Left till closing.. however they were still friendly and welcoming to serve us. Food is all fresh and very tasty. I requested a meatloaf sandwich, which really isn't on their menu. But Meatloaf was the special of that day. The waitress was more than accommodating and got our food out pretty reasonably. She kept our drinks refilled and was very nice and helpful. Definitely nice option to get home cook meal or breakfast served all day too. Every thing is delicious. Very clean also . read more

If you are in town and need a breakfast spot I beg you to come here. I am a frequent customer here, the service is always polite and super fast. That doesnt mean the food isn't good. I just recently discovered this little gem and now breakfast anywhere else pales in comparison. The staff were so friendly and attentive, some of the best service I've had outside the expensive, higher end dinner clubs/steak houses. The place had a very clean and cozy diner vibe and a decent size dining area. It definitely isn't High Points best kept secret because it fills up very quickly; you might have to wait a bit if you've got a group. The food was phenomenal, a higher quality of classic diner breakfast food, think First Watch but without the complicated flavors. Another great surprise was the affordability of the food, especially considering the quality. Tom's Place is roughly a 20 minute drive from my house but it's worth the trip and I will be going back often. I highly recommend trying this place out! read more

I've admittedly been sleeping on this place, and now I'm regretting it. Tom's place has been around as long as I remember, though until recently, I hadn't visited there since before the time I was Yelping! (and at this point, that's pretty long ago) A decade would not be a stretch, and it looked very different inside then. Now with a nice remodel, the inside feels more comfortable, though there isn't a ton of natural light flowing in (the overhanging roof on all sides is at fault for that, nothing to be done about it). Regardless, I was lured in here by a couple recent reviews from Elites Brian P. and Stephanie V. Brian raved about the burger here, and I cannot just let a chance to try something he labeled one of the best burgers in the area go un-tried by me! Stephanie raved about fish fry fridays, which I something I know I'll have to go back for. This visit was all about getting that burger. My waitress, Eva, was very attentive and recommended going full on with the double bacon cheeseburger. I asked for a side recommendation, thinking I was torn between onion rings and hot chips, but she really recommended the french fries. They were described as a crispy outside and like a mashed potato inside, which is what I love... so I went that direction. My food came out in about 10-15 minutes, and the burger was nice and hot, as were the fries. The fries indeed, perfect texture. They seem to be that very lightly battered kind, which I'm all about. More crunch, perfect interior. They went very well with "the good ranch" that I asked for. Check and check. Brian P was not fooling around. This burger was outstanding! Though not a smashburger, which is my current obsession, the patties had a wonderful brown crust on each side, which is what you really want... hot grill and sealed in flavor. It all married well with two slices of american cheese and two strips of bacon. It came with lettuce, tomato, onion. I removed the tomato, which was a hot house variety (this time of year for sure). It would have been great with no toppings at all to be honest. I would come back just for this! Overall, an excellent experience, and this local place is now back on my radar when I find myself in High Point looking for breakfast or lunch. Thanks Tom's place! read more

This place has a "modern diner" feel - it's nice. Get the burger with a side of fries! I ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and mayo. It. Was. Phenomenal. I ate every single bite of my burger and fries... because I simply couldn't stop. I'm sure the breakfast and daily specials are great and I will be back to try, but the burger and fries are where it's at! Service was very friendly and attentive! read more

Good food - nice selection. But I didn't appreciate the waitress rounding Up on my bill and still get a nice tip. I could have put it on the card for what I paid her for rounding up. It won't happen again to me. It was all nice and enjoyable until then. Would have given if NOT for that. read more

Travels from New York to High Point, North Carolina to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family. We went there Friday morning, eight of us altogether. The coffee was blonde and watery with no flavor! Tom's place has the best and closest thing to a home cooked breakfast around. I don't know how it took me so long to visit. Sometimes, appearances actually aren't deceiving. From the outside, Tom's Place looks like a classic neighborhood diner, unpretentious and untouched by time. However, the amount of love it receives on local social media, coupled with some admittedly tantalizing food pics, had me thinking it was a hidden gem of a breakfast spot. Only by that measure is Tom's Place a disappointment. Nothing I tried was bad, but nothing was particularly remarkable, either. I put in a takeout order for a Greek omelet (peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms and feta) and a Dirty South (scrambled eggs, onions, peppers, Neese's sausage, ham, bacon, hash browns, and gravy) and had no trouble with pickup. Both dishes were waiting yet still hot when I arrived. The food proved to be comforting if a bit bland. The sausage gravy was a standout, but everything else seemed subdued. Portions were a decent size though not as huge as the hype suggests. At $7.75 and $9.75, Tom's prices are reasonable though other diners may have them beat. Rather than delivering a breakfast that could rival the Moose Cafe, Tom's Place offers standard Southern-inflected diner fare. It's a solid representation thereof, and I might have to come back to try the breakfast burrito, but the hands-down best breakfast in High Point it is not. read more
